This place is not fsr from home, and I've been wanting to come for so long. My dear husband made reservations for mother's day, & it lived up to everything I wanted it to be. Theres outside seating for nice days, a fire pit that seats many&if you dont have problems meeting new people. The food. OMG. The drinks, just delicious. Our party of 4 opted for drinks & I shared the warm brie with fruit with my friend. I ordered a white wine from Portugal called Vinho Verde, had a little fizz but not like sparkling, so good. My entree was Diver Scallops with mushroom risotto, topped with crispy leeks & an herb pesto. The portion was more than I expected, I must've had a half dozen scallops on my plate, so delicious,risotto was thick, scallops were plump. A friend had the same meal. My husband had the grilled flat iron steak, the potatoes it came with were bigger than a fingerling, crispy skin, just out of this world. Our server, whos name i didnt catch, was always available for refills, very nice man, but the other staff walking by would ask if we were good, so kudos! Dessert for this group was in the form of alcohol so we took our black walnut martinis to the fire pit, where we sat for awhile. The restaurant before this one was my family's favorite so it had a lot to live up to! I'm happy to say, that it is delicious and the staff are great! We started with a bottle of champagne and oysters. The champagne was tasty and oysters fresh. I tried the NY strip steak, dill butter salmon, and a bite of clam chowder. Everything was out of this world! Even though I loved the other restaurant, this place has more seafood and it's all very fresh. This is barely a 3 star review. Beautiful building and outdoor seating area but food is forgettable. Beet salad is simply lettuce with a minimal amount of beets. Baked stuffed clams had no taste and almost broke my tooth bc of something in the breading. Perhaps a broken shell? The Order comes with four clams and we ate 1 1/2 and server didn't even ask us if there was a problem with them. My guess is this happens all the time. read more

We had oysters, steamers to start and I had the lobster roll and husband had fish and chips. Everything tasted ok, but we were sooooo sick that night and next day! FOOD: They offer a selection of six different oysters which is wonderful and they were fresh! The crab cake was classic and on point. The tuna poke definitely could have used more seasoning/dressing though the tuna did taste very fresh. The diver scallops themselves were tasty and cooked to perfection though the risotto accompaniment had no flavor and was overcooked (tasted like it was cooked in water instead of stock) but the fried leeks garnish were tasty. The Mac & Lobster was actually quite good with a decent amount of lobster. SERVICE: We were greeted and seated with warmth and our server was very sweet and engaging and answered any questions we had but did seem overwhelmed which was understandable considering it was a busy holiday weekend Sunday night with lots of big parties and families. We picked up on this and quickly put our order in right shortly after we sat. Everything came out in a reasonable time considering the volume. We shared oysters, then appetizers and entrees; the plate placements and dishes were dropped kind of awkwardly and landed in front of just one of us or where there was room rather than placing in the center. Especially with the oysters: I would think an oyster/pizza riser would help clear up more space on table and make for a better presentation. Just a little clunky but overall staff was kind and professional and they were all hustling! AMBIENCE/VIBE: I thought the lights were too bright for dinner and the type of cuisine being served. Dimmer/softer lighting might have made it feel a little cozier. It kind of gave me diner/pancake house/banquet hall vibes. Also, I'm not sure there was music playing or if there was it was too low to hear over the chatter. VALUE: I would say it was a decent value for what we ordered. Our bill was around $150 before tip for a dozen mixed oysters, two appetizers, two entrees and two alcoholic beverages. Arrived with a party of 8, we were greeted promptly and had time to look over the menu! Our waitress was polite and answered all our questions. My wife and I started off with the oyster Rockefeller and clam chowder soup, both were delicious, my wife wanted to finish her soup it was so good but wanted to finish her lobster roll, so she took her soup to go, she loved it! Our main meal was the lobster roll, my wife didn't want the roll itself and asked our waitress if she could have the lobster meat with the salad that came with the meal, our waitress said no problem and provided a cup of melted butter in case she wanted to drizzle it over the lobster, she did!!! My lobster was just as meaty and delicious, I have to say we both were very full! We go to Maine a lot and the lobster melted in our mouths just like Maine lobster. The raw bar and specials menu alone tempted my palate with a selection of Oysters you'd only expect seaside, a Lobster Bisque straight from Maine while the Fish & Chips rivaled the best I've had in London. From the warm, hospitable welcome, to their willingness to accommodate our requests, the owner and her staff went above and beyond to make our choice to try the Oyster and Clam Bar at the Bruynswick Inn a great decision. As for the food, the Oysters were among the freshest and tastiest I have found in the Tri-state area. Equally as delicious was their Beet Salad. The Clam Chowder was outstanding with plenty of whole clams and the Bacon wrapped Scallops were tender and flavorful. The Shrimp Scampi delivered excellent garlic flavor served over perfectly cooked fresh pasta. PS: Don't leave without trying the Apple Goodie. read more

This restaurant has been handsomely renovated, even walking up the short distance from close by parking feels magical, with clean stone patio and twinkling lights. The hostess is professional, and exudes control and a warm welcome. While we've not yet sat at the bar, it is a long straight run of about 15 stools and well equipped. At the table, I ordered the specialty tequila cocktail and it was strong, well balanced high ball. My husband had an equally well crafted whiskey cocktail. We indulged--everything on the menu looked fantastic! The top hits for us were the Oysters Rockefeller and the Lobster Roll. The LR comprised of the right bun that is buttered and slightly toasted on the outside, pure lobster and reasonably priced. I also had Lobster Bisque but tomato flavor was more powerful than lobster. Both dining rooms seem a little cold when not populated. The furnishings are modern and comfortable. When other tables were sat in the room (converted enclosed porch) where we were seated, the gentlemen at each table wore flat billed baseball caps, three in total. Economic factors and locale in mind, all customers are good ones. Menu, choice ingredients, and service exceed dress code. The service was outstanding. The chef owner visited our table, even serving a course or two. The entire front of house staff are consummate professionals. This place is truly a gem in the area. read more

Absolutely the worst dining experience I've ever had. Easter dinner of lamb and a " complimentary" Bloody Mary that must have been a Virgin Mary. Our dinners were placed in front of us less than 5 minutes after ordering. The drinks came after. The meat was so dry and gristly that one of us sent it back. I was offered ham instead, but I came there for the lamb. We returned two drinks for one with some vodka in it and I was charged $12. When I asked the waitress why I was being charged, she told me that the bartender told her to charge us. His attitude when he delivered the drink was terrible. One in our party said they'd probably never come back and his response was " Really? Good!" and he walked away. It's a shame that it was so horrible. It is right around the corner and I was looking forward to another choice to dine at but after spending over $130 for two people and to go home hungry, I'll never go again. The interior and exterior work was beautiful and our waitress Chrissy was great, but if you can't eat the food and the chef and bartender give you attitude, you don't have a business. Never again!!! Being a holiday, I don't think they are experienced enough to make it work. Lesson learned! read more

We had a steak panini, the steak was good but the bread was so hard, and I mean rock hard, it was inedible. We also had a chicken sandwich that was probably one of the toughest pieces of chicken I had in a long time. My jaw was tired trying to chew it. The lobster bisque was very flavorful and rich, a definite repeat order! I ordered the lobster roll hot New England style... disappointed, very bland and not as flavorful as other rolls I have had (I always order a lobster roll when it is on the menu), It needed some salt and pepper and seasoned butter to pour on top the butter provided was lacking in flavor. The side of lobster Mac and cheese was tasty, with a decent amount of lobster. 2 could easily share an order. My boyfriend ordered the fish and chips which he said had a nice flavor, but the fish was very greasy and not as crisp as other places. The drinks were well crafted and unique. I had a cucumber collins, he had a seasonal shandy. The crushed ice in these drinks was overwhelming. The entire glass was filled with ice and if you didn't drink it quick enough it watered down your $14 cocktail. I included a picture for reference. Came here to try something new. We sat at the bar because we were a few minutes early for our reservation. Bartender was great, drinks were good, he made a few recommendations on food and we are glad he did! We had the clam chowder on his suggestion and it was possibly the best we have ever had. Absolutely delicious! Also on his recommendation we got the scampi scallops and they also were some of the best. Perfectly seared and cooked just until done. Incredibly moist and soft. Flavor was exceptional. Next time we will get the pasta scampi because our app was incredible. Highly recommend. Like others have said, this place is beautiful. Great country view. I hope the owners read the other critical reviews and make improvements because there is potential here. It is a charming location, at the foot of the Shawangunk Mountains. It is nice to see a menu that showcases oysters. I wish I had simply ordered the oysters on the half shell. The wine list is nice. The scallop scampi starter was good. The grilled shrimp starter would have been better if it had been more evenly cooked. A few were slightly undercooked and it would have tastier if the exteriors were a little crusty. The oysters Rockefeller was overwhelmed by the spinach topping. There was a little too much and the spinach dominated the other sauce ingredients. But my displeasure was with the bread and the Brunswick salad. This menu deserved good fresh crunchy French bread. There are sources for it if the restaurant chooses to pay. Instead we were served a soft sour tasting bread with an off fermented taste and bad texture. Having been served no bread would have been better. The salad was large but unbalanced. The flavor profile didn't make sense. The candied nuts were in too large of clusters and too sweet. They seemed to taste of vanilla, which didn't go with the many whole unpitted olives. The olives were good and I ended up eating them and leaving most of the rest of the salad, but the flavor combination with the sweet nuts wasn't appetizing. The lettuce! It looked like what I would throw in my compost bowl. Large, somewhat leathery outer leaves of a leaf lettuce. They should have used the crunchy inner leaves or hearts of Romain or a nice butter lettuce. I wish them luck and hope they make improvements in these areas. read more

Such a pretty setting and the place was packed and we'd passed it a number of times, so I was looking forward to a great meal with my wife. The clam chowder was fine and our waiter could not have been more solicitous, but when it came to our Caesar salads, which we asked for without anchovies, my wife's had them on it. When she pointed this out, our server shined his iPhone light on it to verify and then away went the salad, only to promptly return -- that is, the SAME salad - after someone in the back tried (not hard enough) to remove the pieces of fish. Shrimp cocktail was underwhelming. But what sealed the deal was what happened next: a couple to our right pointed out to their waitress that the shrimp in their shrimp over rice (a special that night) were "raw and uncooked." Yes, you're right, she told the couple after holding the plate up to inspect it, these ARE uncooked. She took it away, as we got up and left, wondering if someone in the back had forgotten to microwave the shrimp after plating it on the rice before serving. A disappointing night. We were greeted with a friendly welcome by three different people as we approached the entrance. The renovation they did is beautifully done. It's rustic, inviting and modern. The service was great. Mallory was our server and she was attentive and very friendly. Michelle came by and asked us how we were and also very friendly. We both had the fish and chips and it was reminiscent of the British style. The huge perfectly fried fish was moist, fresh and tasty. The chips were also really good. This was our first time since the new owners and we were very happy. We will definitely come again and try other things . We will bring our guests here. read more

I've been 3 times now and super friendly owners and staff. Great atmosphere. Oysters are fresh, clean, and overall excellent. Shrimp cocktail is disappointing...it tastes like thawed frozen shrimp. It comes out wet and glassy, not butterflied, and laying on lettuce. Steak and potatoes are good, and steak always cooked as requested. Salmon, which I've tried twice is way over cooked and tough, needing to be chewed like steak, instead of light and buttery the way salmon can be when cooked properly. The beets in the salad are chopped up so finely than you can barely taste them. I've tried to like this place, but don't think I'll be back. It's ok, decent. Not great. read more

I was really excited to visit this nicely renovated restaurant. The receptionist sat us immediately and shortly after that the waitress took our drink order. We ordered a vodka & soda and 2 Hendricks martinis. The vodka & soda was fine however the martinis were served in the wrong glass and one was served with out the olive garnish. We ordered the fish and. Chips and the NY strip with SMASHED potatoes. I was served regular whole potatoes with my steak. I guess I'll never know how the smashed potatoes look like or taste. The practice of attention to detail is paramount in the restaurant business because if constant mistake are made it could be a restaurant's demise. I won't stick a fork in this restaurant, but I may give it one more chance. Make sure you have martini glasses. read more

Well we had a reservation but when we got there they couldn't find it but gave us seats near the kitchen which were the worst seats in the house. I ordered a drink and then had to remind the waitress that I had ordered one and what it was about 15 minutes later. Most of the food was good but I got a grain bowl and if I added a protein would have been $34 which is way overpriced for that and it didn't taste good and smelled off and the grilled asparagus smelled of meat so I know they cross contaminate (I am vegetarian) so I only ate a bit of it and when the waitress asked what they could do to make things better I said don't charge me for that but they did anyway. They did say that they would comp a Crème Brûlée but when we got the check, it was on there so we had to wait again to get their attention (took too long waiting to get the check). Needless to say, we won't be back. Was soo disappointed as they have a lot of the right elements but fall short... read more
