This was our second time here, I have egg sensitivities so normally I'm out of luck when it comes to salads and a lot of restaurants. But twice I've gone with no issue, the food is so delicious and it's all from scratch you can tell. I got fried calamari and baked stuffed sole, they're very generous with their lobster portions inside the sole. And the lemon burr blanc is so delicious over top. The view was amazing, you can see the lake from the outside seating. And our waitress was so helpful, she answered our questions and substituted things for my grandmother. Definitely will be back here every time I'm in New York. read more

We went for a New Year's Eve dinner. We were sat quickly. Our reservation was for 5pm. It was already very busy. The server was attentive despite how busy it was. The food was average home cooked meals. Nothing fancy but flavorful. We couldn't enjoy the view because it's already dark by 5. But we can imagine it would be beautiful. read more

This place used to be my favorite spot, but not so much recently. I'm not sure what changed, but the food isn't as good as it used to be. The service has also been kind of slow, but the servers are super friendly. The one thing I still love is their mud pie. You have to get it, it's chocolatey with a touch of coffee flavor... First, you can't beat the view of the lake. Just beautiful! We made a reservation and it looked like we needed it. Service was very good...they are always around if you need them however not hovering over you at all times. Dinners include a side salad as well as either a baked potato, scallop potatoes or rice with a vegetable. And please save room for the awesome homemade desserts. Lovely venue and view of the lake but the food was really disappointing. The chicken scarpariello was all rigatoni with 2 pieces of toasted bread on the sides of the dish. I barely discovered 3 small chunks of chicken and a few slices of what looked like breakfast sausage and potato. Bread service was extra. The shrimp Vera Cruz was 4 heavily breaded shrimp with too much tail attached to improperly cleaned, medium shrimp. Fries looked nice but were limp. The mudpie was delicious. How this place has a 4* rating I'll never understand. Fortunately the company made up for the underwhelming food. read more

I enjoy this place very much! Unfortunately the parking is an issue...during a busy time or a rush hour type dinner day it is extremely hard to find parking. The prices are a bit expensive although the food is worth it. The staff is always very nice and tries very hard to accommodate you. The atmosphere is dependent on the time you go, you want hole in the wall bar with your buds or fancy restaurant. They can do both and the excel. I go here 1-2 a year on a special occasion. Nice lake view, we got four different cocktails and they were average nothing impressive too sweet and old fashioned had a funky earthy aftertaste. We ordered NY steak it was a nice 12oz size but we received it after 2.5 hrs of waiting which it is the time I expected to be paying the check and start leaving the place. read more

Lake View House never disappoints. Last minute decision to meet half-way with friends and we often do waterfront in Newburgh, glad we changed things up. Waitress was upbeat and professional. Food was delicious - fish, duck, shrimp dishes. Service was perfectly timed for our leisurely get-together. Guess you need to get there early to get that special glass-enclosed back room. And in season they have a nice outdoor patio. Parking is tight - so keep that in mind as well. read more

This place is a must, the attention, the menu, is all aligned with the view. They have a Patio right beside the water but they only serve drinks on the lake. I want to send a shoot out to the waitresses and the staff for a fabulous dinner at our bowling banquet on April 17,2024 I was pleasantly surprised when we received our salads, main meal and desserts. We had 3 choices for entrees at a bowling banquet. I have been to many banquets and usually there two choices with small portions. To my surprise that was not the case. I had the steak, mash potatoes and broccoli with a salad and a generous mud pie dessert. The food was tasty, the steak was to temperature and omg the mud pie. Amazing venue with delicious food, wonderful staff and incredible ambiance! My husband and I hosted our wedding at the Lakeview House and had the most incredible event we could have ever hoped for. Tori and her team at the Lakeview House went out of their way to make the wedding extra special, working with us through all the wedding details and setting up an absolutely beautiful space. Tori also ensured that everything ran smoothly, from the ceremony on the patio, to the cocktail hour, to the delicious lunch, to the cake cutting. The food was outstanding. Many of our guests told us that the hor'dourves were the best they ever had! The lunch itself was also fantastic, with a ton of choices from shrimp to fish to steak, all of which proved delicious. Tori also set up the most incredible dessert table for us, with a ton of amazing desserts, along with coffee and tea. Too bad everyone is placed on the back porch making it crowded and noisy when there's a hugh dining room that you could spread out in. Service was good. The main problem was the food. The salads were served so cold they tasted like they were close to being frozen. The onion soup was reported as not being great, the duck was mealy and the confit leg could have been used to bludgeon someone. The short ribs were stringy and in a super sweet sauce. Neither was served hot. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm and the broccoli tasteless. Maybe they should simplify the menu and concentrate on producing good tasting food instead of bad over sauced concoctions. But the bread was good. read more

Ive been going here since I was very little and it has always been the best. Sometimes good can take a while but that's only because it's so packed, the food is amazing! The seating outdoors is gorgeous especially when you catch a really nice day or sunset. Both the waiters and bus boys are so polite and kind. I recommend making reservations! read more

Had dinner on Saturday night with a party of 4. Ribs and escargot appetizers were excellent. Drinks were great. Stuffed sole main course was, surprisingly, tasteless. Very positive comments on all other main courses. I haven't dined there in a while and remembered the place being pretty good. So 8 of decided to dine there over the weekend for a Bday get together. Wait staff were awesome and atmosphere was good. Now about the food. First off you know you're going to pay a hefty price bc of the lake but as long as the food is good who cares. So 5 of us ordered the salmon. I should of known by the strong smell and taste it wasn't really fresh.. fast forwarding 4-5 salmon victims finished their meals and one lucky person ate very minimal. For the 4 of us that finished, we drew the short straws and were sick all night. Fortunately for them they are closed Mon/tues and won't be listening to 4 people complaining. We came here on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We arrived early for our reservation and had to park across the street as the parking lot is not large enough for the restaurants capacity. The bar is small but cozy and the bartender, while stretched was attentive & made a mean cocktail (I frequently judge a bar by it's martini). Unfortunately, while our server was great considering how busy they were, my schnitzel was burnt & almost inedible. Everyone else meals were good, so it was maybe just that meal. Now the food..we had the lake view clams for appetizer and it was so good! Michael even gave us bread for dipping because we cant get enough of the sauce. Have been here numerous times before and mostly those visits were excellent. We went this Sunday, two couples celebrating one of our friends birthday. We had a reservation for 6:30 and arrived when we pulled in there was no place to park. We rode around and finally found a spot down in the back! Not easy for one of us who could not do the steep walk up. Fortunately we found a stairway. We were seated quickly and noticed they were quite busy. It took forever to get anyone to help us. Finally our very overworked server came, took drink orders then left. We had no idea what the specials were or anything! Not that it mattered as when we got our drinks, our server was off to get our water. Finally she came back, ran through the specials at a breakneck pace, then gone again. ( I don't understand why specials can't be copied, placed on the table with the menus so you could take a moment to actually know what the specials are and how much they cost!!). When we finally ordered we waited o our salads and dinners that finally arrived( over an hour after we were initially sat down! Food The salads are an embarrassment. They were sparse. My wife had salmon, our friends had stuffedcod and sole. I had filet mignon. I asked not to have the gorgonzola added, well it was covered with it. The sides were skimpy. The mashed potatoes were very small and the snow peas were scarce. The evening was a big letdown. I know that they were extremely busy, nd our waitress was pleasant but was unable to keep up with the amount of tables she was serving. It will be quite awhile before we will come back. read more

Never expected to post a bad review of Lakeview but I'm afraid they seem to be resting on their laurels. Had a 7 pm reservation place was not too busy . Still had to wait tries to get a drink at bar which had 3 people seated was ignored for 10 mins . Owner seated us and took drink order at the table. Ordered vodka tonic got vodka soda. Ordered food from specials menu it was just ok. Not sure whats going on oberthere but taking Lakeview off our rotation. read more
