Our last stop during our Beacon day trip was at Glazed Over Donuts for a sweet treat! In the shop, you order customized donuts with a glaze, drizzle, and topping and you can see where the donuts are freshly made in the back of the small-ish store. From the friendly man who greets you and explains the concept to the most delicious donuts, this place is one of a kind. You can order donuts made to order or off their specials menu. Donuts are very smooth and decadent, quite sugary. Best eaten fresh. Staff are helpful and will guide you towards the clipboards. They have a rotating seasonal glaze you can choose and October's was apple cider flavored. Even though I'm not one to really have a hankering for the sweetness of the traditional American donut, I have to say, Glazed Over is no joke. First of all, the older gentleman who greeted us as we walked in had the most friendly, warm, and comforting energy. He explained the ordering system to us and let us know the specials. I felt immediately comfortable around him and that made the experience half of the magic that it was. Secondly, the donuts are made FRESH on the fly and are customizable to the t. You choose your donut glaze, then your topping, and then your drizzle. I was worried the donuts would be a little too sickenly sweet or overly heavy but that was not the case AT ALL. They were cute little cake donuts where all the elements meshed together perfectly without being overwhelming. We got the seasonal donut, which was apple cider inspired, and the traditional glaze with nothing else. Both of them were spectacular. The flavors were boisterous without being overpowering and the fact that they were warm and fresh was just chef's kiss. They are also super affordable and on the menu the prices are TAX INCLUDED!! Who is evening doing that anymore I hope this place is open forever. This place was amazing and even if I wasn't craving a donut I know if I were to stop by to grab a couple to share I'd find myself enjoying every bite every single time. You go in, grab a little checklist and check off what you want for each donut: type, frosting, glaze, drizzle...you then give it to the cashier along with your name and pay. There are lots of options to choose from...so you can be pretty creative with your donut. They also offer a bunch of hot drinks (coffee and hot chocolate) and some refrigerated bottled drinks. I also saw that they make sundaes and donut ice cream sandwiches, which seemed cool. Kudos for them on the unique idea for allowing the donuts to be custom-made and also to see them being made. Yum!! Who can say no to customizable mini donuts? Not I, nor the continuous stream of customers this spot had on a Saturday afternoon. The staff is friendly and helpful, they approach customers and ask if you've been here before and pass out little clip boards with pens, for each customer to indicate which combination of toppings you want to order on each donut. The base is the same plain donut (apple cider donut size, so not huge), and you have choice of glaze, topping and drizzle, which get applied to each donut in that order. $2.56 for one, $4.70 for two, $12.53 for a half dozen, $20.85 for a dozen. There's a different seasonal donut each week, and today's happened to be pumpkin spice. They also have donut ice cream sandwiches and sundaes, and carry several basic drink items (coffee, tea, sweetened iced tea, hot chocolate, water,soda). The donuts themselves are very fresh, towards the back of the store there's a room with a large glass panel through which customers can see the staff frying the donuts on a donut fryer machine. Fluffy and not too sweet or oily, I was pleasantly surprised by how well these held up even after trekking around with them for 4-5 hours before eating. I won't go into each flavor combo but you can see the ones I chose in the photos below--the options are endless! Both I and the friends I shared these with thoroughly enjoyed them!
