Two very large roast pork egg fu yung & fried rice
Bob S.

I was in the neighborhood on business. Afterward I went to find a place to eat. I thought I'd try the Chinese restaurant down the block. It was a good choice. It's bigger than most of the other Chinese eat-in/ take-out places. They have several tables when you first enter. If you want to eat in. The place is clean, the staff is very pleasant and professional. The menu is fairly large and diversified. I knew what to expect when i ordered, Egg fu yung. I didn't expect such a large portion with the sauce on the side. The hot and sour soup was also good. Not too thick or overly spicy. Well balanced, I didn't see any shiitake in it just button mushrooms. It had all the other usual ingredients. For what I paid, I couldn't do it at home for the same cost.

I've been ordering from this place for years and let me tell you, they're excellent on all fronts. The lady and gent who run the place are always very pleasant and sweet. The selection isn't very different than many other Chinese takeout joints, but the care taken to ensure a delectable meal is what separates Asian Ginger from the remainder of the herd. The delivery times vary (something that doesn't bother me, as I'm very patient), so if it is taking longer than you may like, just know that it'll be worth it when the food arrives. Furthermore, I've learned that the gentleman who delivers is also one of the very few in the kitchen as well; very hard-working. As an alternative, stopping in the restaurant and ordering (or calling ahead) will yield a meal in a blink of an eye. I recommend the pineapple chicken, Thai red curry chicken, hibachi noodles, and the homemade iced tea. Note: the only reason this place gets 5-stars is because Yelp doesn't allow for 6-star reviews - again, the couple that runs the show here are that wonderful.

What a great little place! The food was phenomenal, and our…read moreserver, Emmi, was also amazing. She was extremely friendly, attentive, and welcoming (and gave us multiple meal recommendations when asked). I highly recommend Blue Spice, and will definitely be back!!

Blue Spice has been on my to-do list for literally years, and Monday was finally the day. I stopped…read moreby for lunch with my top-tier chum, a native of the Kingdom of Sussex who has been here before and has spoken highly of it. I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.

King Asian is the latest (I think) Asian cuisine restaurant to pop up in the lower Dutchess County…read morearea. We went here a few months ago, seemingly the week they opened, and it was alright. The huge dining space is a bit overwhelming, especially since there were only 2 other tables occupied while we were there. Mind you, I don't like too crowded places, but when you're in a huge restaurant at 7:30pm on a Sat. evening, you want it to be somewhat lively. The staff was very nice and quick, however. On to the food- pretty standard, good but not super great. I played it safe and got a Chinese chicken dish, and the portion was pretty generous. The Spring Roll appetizers however, weren't...they were a bit skimpy for the price. The only real complaint was the bad hip-hop/pop music station (kinda like K104, but I think it was on Satellite) playing....not only do I detest this kind of music, it just seemed really awkward and out of place here. They do take-out, of course, so that's always a good option to have. King Asian is worth checking out, either way. I hope they are successful.

Twisted Soul - Naughty Noodles

The "food concepts" at twisted soul are fresh and ambitious. Vassar students really seem to enjoy…read morethe international flavors offered here, as it's a good alternative to the bland food you find in the dining halls and elsewhere around town. I particularly enjoyed the Vassar noodle bowl, which featured chewy noodles in a coconut milk curry sauce (allegedly Malaysian, more Malaysian "inspired") with BBQ pulled pork on top!! I would never have thought to combine these two ingredients, but they work beautifully together. It's a very warm and comforting dish, and the mint, cilantro, and radish garnish helps provide a bit of contrast. I liked the sour cream drizzle on top, too. I feel like this dish could really be fantastic if they adjusted the thickness and amount of curry sauce (the noodles are swimming in it like a soup) and provided more herbs and radishes on top. It could also benefit from a crispy topping to provide textural contrast. I've had other things from here that I've liked, but that weren't anything special. Like the Malaysian curry, their chicken tikka masala sauce also has a very runny texture, instead of the thicker richer sauces I've had elsewhere. And their bao buns are honestly not worth buying, since they have no hoisin sauce or creamy aioli/slaw element that binds together the rather dry meat, pickle slices, and scallions in each bun. They seem to exclusively be a grab and go kind of place, which makes sense to me as it's in a college town. Inside it's small and rather bleak, without any kind of decoration and not much seating. They take a pretty long time to prepare orders too, so plan ahead in case you're in a hurry.

Seating inside is very limited the employees are friendly. The noodle bowl was very good but a little small but the curry wasn't too spicy and had a nice coconut cream relief. The braised porky belly rice bowl was a nice portion but the sauce was a little over bearing. Could've used a little more of the nuts to give it a better texture. The bao buns were very good. Nice fluffy warm buns and packed with the pulled pork. We also got the Thai tea and lavender lemonade. Lemonade was amazing it had chia seeds in it. The Thai tea was okay. It was way too creamy to the point it was white and I couldn't really taste the tea that much. I'm not from the area but if I ever came back maybe I would try something different from the menu
