Food (3/5): I've had the pumpkin cake, chocolate chip cookie, blue velvet cupcake and cookies and cream ice cream from here. The one dessert that sticks out is the pumpkin cake. It's got a great texture and is not too sweet. Everything else was okay. Service (5/5): The people working here are always so welcoming and patient. They answer my questions to the best of their ability and make my overall customer experience positive. Ambience (5/5): It's cute! The theme seems to be old school candy shop. I like that there are some retro candies that I grew up with. Ultimately, if you're hankering for sweets and you're nearby, definitely stop by. But I wouldn't recommend going out of your way. The ice selection is great but for $35, the two scopes of ice cream should be abundant on the waffle cone. The lady behind the counter indicated that two scoops wouldn't be stable on a regular cone. Like a Norman Rockwell painting come to life, Cornwall Sweets occupies a small storefront that has American flags flying outside, just about every classic candy still in existence and a corner location that's smack dab in the heart of Main Street. The old-timey vibes are almost overwhelming. That throwback candy ranges from stuff that's fairly easy to find elsewhere, such as Pop Rocks and Sugar Babies, to lesser-seen items, such as Bottle Caps and those paper sheets studded with colorful sugar buttons, to legitimate rarities, such as Zagnut bars and candy cigarettes. There's way more than candy, which is especially impressive because the tiny shop can't fit more than a few customers at a time. Other confection selections include a dozen or so flavors of Jane's ice cream, cupcakes and cake slices, chocolates sold by the piece, elaborately decorated marshmallows served on a stick, and various bars of high-end Hudson Valley chocolate. It's hard to generalize about the food being good or bad or so-so -- it really just depends. The ice cream is fine, the cupcakes can be good or subpar, and the few chocolates I've had have been respectable. The candy is, of course, really fun, and it's actually good because it doesn't seem like it's been sitting on the shelves for years. Most of the stuff comes from outside producers, but a few items -- cookies, chocolate-covered pretzels, huge pastries reminiscent of cannoli -- are made right there. If these kinds of small businesses were still ubiquitous, this shop might not seem special. But they're not even close to being common anymore -- Cornwall Sweets is doing something distinctive and doing it well, and if anyone thinks they can deliver a superior version of sweet sentimentality, I'm sure that lots of other nostalgic Yelpers would welcome it. read more

The place was quaint and the service was friendly. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was a really nice ambience. The price was lofty for very little. 2 scoops of ice cream with barely any topping, candy buttons and chocolate chip cookie dough taco rang up as $20. The ice cream wasn't anything fantastically magical, it tasted like every other ice cream we've been too and the fact the toppings were light was disappointing. The taco was very underwhelming. I was in the store recently, and was spoken to quite rudely by the staff. I think management and the staff should learn how to speak to people. I had called first about bringing my daughter in for a possible job and the people on the other end of the phone were rude so I figured I would stop in. first let me say, a sweet candy store open till 9:30pm, am like wow you can get that late night sweet tooth fix here. so, the girl at counter was super nice and patient with me while ordering since man it looked all good. so got a two-chocolate covered pretzels, white chocolate peppermint bark, white chocolate lattice cookie, apple cider donut marshmallow and a cookie taco stuffed with cannoli cream. most of my item were good and delicious, not much to say, but the cookie taco, that blew my mind, usually cookies refrigerated get hard as rock, but they made cookies super soft and cannoli cream was very sweet and thick. My experience was unlike the good reviews. I ordered for delivery and it was awful. 3 out of the 5 items were inedible. The apple/caramel desserts arrived frozen and were soggy when they thawed out. This store is not sanitary and it is way over priced. The owner screams at employees and her boyfriend is extremely unprofessional and creepy towards women and even children who come into the store. Employees do not have their food handler license or an alcohol permit... huge health code violations! Nothing is made in house... most food is expired. I wanted some pastries and stopped by this quaint shop. I ordered the lemon bars and linzer cookies. However the shop attendant gave me coffee cookies instead of the linzer. This place is so good! A small shop PACKED with Delicious sweets. My daughter enjoyed a rainbow cupcake with a heap of rainbow frosting on top. Wrong, as soon as I walked in I was smacked in the face with what I first thought was a fart, but low and behold the woman behind the counters breath was the source. She greeted me with a stern "what do you want" then proceeded to brag about her OWNERSHIP of the establishment. I brought my family to Cornwall Sweets for what I thought would be a nice afternoon. The cookies we went in for were sub-par at best, and there was a very sketchy looking man hanging around the front entrance. It made us all very uncomfortable. The staff wasn't very nice, either. Drove here to get a vegan dessert and was very disappointed in a refrigerated cupcake that tastes like it took on the flavor of something else in the fridge.
