Wow! Getting stuck in traffic gave us the idea to just stop & eat & Yelpers helped us out! What a great dinner & dessert! Also great service! Can't wait to come back! No traffic necessary!

The food is amazing. I ordered the Truffle Stuffed Burrata Caprese for appetizer and Hanger Steak for main meal and the food was amazing and very tasty! The steak was a win win! For dessert I got the crème brûlée and again, did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place.

Had this restaurant bookmarked a while and finally made it. We recieved a warm greeting by the owner upon arrival. Lenny waited on us and provided fabulous service. The food was delicious. I had the pork shoulder and burrata and my co-worker had the salmon. We also learned the tavern was originally a 13 room hotel off the highway in 1801. The current owner has turned the upstairs rooms into 4 rooms which are available to Airbnb. They are quite cozy and have a lovely ambiance and reasonably priced. I highly recommend a visit. They are closed on Mondays.

Our party of 5 enjoyed an excellent meal, surrounded by rustic charm and attentive service from Shay. The tavern, built about 1801 has lot of history, the narrow entrance opens to a comfortable dining area. The inn, from stagecoach stop to bootleg booze, a little gambling, to fine restaurant has in interesting history. The current menu is not large, but add a few specials and we had a nice selection to choose from. We all enjoyed the well prepared selections, from perfectly cooked tender veal chop and light sauce with green beans, hanger steak ( cooked medium as requested) with rich gravy & potatoes to seafood selections. All at reasonable prices. The deserts were just as good. This is our new go to in the area.

My review will be in two parts. Pros & Cons. Pros: The food was delicious! I had an Old Fashioned. It was great! The complimentary bread & butter were so good! I ordered the Hanger Steak and it was perfect! However, My husband ordered lobster bisque soup and it was lukewarm. We should've sent it back. BIG PRO: they gave my daughter a kids meal AND a kids activity booklet! Cons: I love a building with history, but I still believe in upkeep! Peeling paint, exposed containers for moisture control and buckled wood on the walls all scream for maintenance! Considering the price of our meal I would've expected more. Our server let our water and bread run out and they didn't return for a long while (even though the restaurant was pretty empty) In summary, good food poor service & atmosphere.

Ok, I am from out of town and a friend suggested we go to this restaurant. I love to eat out, and do not mind paying for a nice meal. The place itself is beautiful. My friends and I made a reservation and the place was practically empty at 6 pm. We ordered and the food which took about 45 minutes. All three of us ordered the Filet Mignon, one of the specials. So two of the meals came out fine. My steak was ordered medium, and came out well done. So, since it was a 40.00 plate, I sent it back. The next plate was barely rare. I sent it back again, and the steak was finally correct on the third time...but the sides were not even warm. It's like they just put a new steak on the same plate. By this point, we had been at the restaurant 2 hours. Ok, fine. So I ate a few bites of the steak and gave up. The owner came back and said, with a complete attitude...I took half of the meal off the bill. Seriously? I was completely shocked. I've had experiences before where they apologized profusely and paid for the dinner. We had to argue to get my meal removed. Originally the bill for the 3 of us was 242 dollars. This was not a cheap dinner. Our waitress was very nice. The cocktails were amazing. The dessert was fair. I was really looking forward to this. So, in the end I paid 100.00 including tip for my drinks, appetizer, and dessert. I'm not sure I could have been more disappointed.

Last night we attended an Argentine wine pairing. It was outstanding with courses based on Argentinian cuisine paired with excellent wines. I had never had a white Malbec before. It was great! The event was sold out.

Stopped tonight and saw on the special menu "cockles in a butter garlic cream sauce" and had to have them. OUTSTANDING!!!!

The staff is attentive, warm, and makes you feel genuinely welcomed from the moment you walk in. The range of food options is impressive. Whether you are in the mood for something light or a full, indulgent meal, there is always something exciting to choose from. Everything we have tried has been beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The drinks are excellent, especially the Faison margarita. It is perfectly balanced and one of the best cocktails we have had anywhere. You can tell care goes into every detail behind the bar. Their Sunday brunch buffet is also fantastic. Great variety, fresh offerings, and such a fun way to spend a relaxing weekend morning. The overall ambiance and vibe are just right. The venue is still upscale, service is impeccable, it's kept very clean. However, the amount of proteins offered; has gone down quite a bit, and there are a lot of starches on the hot buffet. The minute steak and the chicken francese were both rather tough. I couldn't tell what kind of fried fish it was supposed to be under the breading. It wasn't too bad. The Cold station had usual grilled vegetables, cold smoked salmon, and cold cuts. All platted artistically. There aren't as many desserts as usual. For me that's NBD. You would think for $35 there would be a more varied hot table entrees.

I was craving something hearty and healthy so naturally, I went for the pearly bowl which originally comes with couscous, roasted cauliflower, golden raisins (trust me these add THEEEE touch), pickled red onions (YUM), tahini sauce, avocado, and a lemon-mint vinaigrette - THISSSSSS. I ended up substituting the couscous for quinoa which was perfect for the type of meal I wanted before traveling. Can we talk about that lemon-mint vinaigrette? It's perfectly green and brings the whole bowl together, SO GOOD. Wish I would've gotten a whole side of that. Ordering delivery through Yelp is so easy thanks to DoorDash and I was so thankful I didn't have to be stuck eating chips and m&ms - love these but I needed a little something more. Next time you're taking a flight from Newburgh airport be sure to get delivery from Ms Fairfax. Can't wait to try their crepes and green goddess wrap from their breakfast and lunch menu!
