Came in for happy hour & had a mixed experience. It took longer than expected to get seated, even though the restaurant wasn't busy, and the service could have been more attentive throughout the visit. The drinks were strong, which was a plus. We also enjoyed the shrimp ceviche..it was fresh, flavorful, and had a nice spicy kick. The happy hour tacos were tasty as well. One downside was that the restaurant had run out of mezcal, which was disappointing since many of the cocktails on the menu featured it. Came in for Happy Hour and it was great. We ordered a lot of carnitas tacos, that was the hit of the table, the carnitas were tender and delicious. The charcoal chicken tacos were also good, a sweetness to them with the pineapple added. The chips and guacamole was great, fresh guacamole never misses. I had three margaritas: Blood Orange, Passion Fruit and Pina en Fuego was my favorite. Customer service was prompt. Tori and Ariel were polite and friendly coming and going making sure if we needed anything. Mike and Keith were quick in anything we ordered whether it was food or drinks. The place was packed but the vibe was easy going with a well balanced playlist to set the mood. Overall it was a bit chaotic for our table, I couldn't het pictures of everything we got but I enjoyed the food and the experience. I'll definitely come back for summer time. read more

Not a bad spot here! Competing with the rival Hudson Taco Bar, we came here because their wait time was was shorter than the other spot. I was pleased to receive good service, fair prices, and a nice view right on the Hudson! Their guacamole and chips were delicious, along with their Mexican street corn (which you can have on or off the cob). Among the trio of tacos I got (chorizo, crispy fish, and tuna tataki), I have ti day ghe chorizo and tuna tataki really stood out to me. Overall a great experience for us! Food was really good. Too bad the service was horrendous. We sat at the bar and the bartender never asked if we wanted more drinks while our glasses sat empty for 45 minutes and had to hail him for our entree orders. In addition, while making our drinks we had to hail him several times to make, he stopped to spend nearly 5 minutes on his cell phone with our full glasses sitting in the service bar just needing the lime garnish. I will never sit at the bar again at this restaurant. The staff appears more interested in their social life than their jobs or their guests. This was my first time in Newburgh, and I came up specifically to try this spot. It's super cute and trendy, with a great vibe. They don't take reservations, and when we arrived, the quoted wait time was 45 minutes--but luckily, we were seated in just 20. Our waitress was a doll, she checked in on us frequently and gave great recommendations. At first, the taco portions looked small, and we were a bit skeptical, but the food turned out to be just the right amount. I had the crispy fish and the birria tacos--both were excellent! I drove here from Queens for my friend's birthday (almost two hours) since they have a pretty good happy hour deal. $1 tacos and $7 margaritas. The place inside was aesthetically very beautiful with a gorgeous outdoor view of the Hudson River. It was a pretty large party (9 people) and we all ordered food and drinks. Some of us ordered off the happy hour and some ordered items off the regular menu. I ordered a duck taco, chicken al pastor taco and a carnitas taco. Honestly, the duck taco was underwhelming and lacked flavor. The chicken al pastor was very tasty as well as the carnitas. The tacos, keep in mind, are very tiny. You need around 4-5 to get you somewhat full. The only $1 tacos are the chicken al pastor, carnitas and veggie. I ordered their watermelon margarita off the happy hour and was disappointed. It was very watered down. I tried their blood orange margarita and it was much better but nothing impressive. Our waitress did let us know that they were understaffed and I felt really bad since I saw her serving tables and bartending. Although she was overwhelmed, what I didn't like was that no one passed by to check on our table even though we wanted more drinks and food. She would stop by every 45 minutes to an hour. I saw the manager pass by several tables but never ours. I did ask to speak to the manager and explained the situation how we did not have the best experience. He did provide us with a gift card for the trouble which I thought was a nice gesture. I'm not sure if I would come back since it is very far from me but if I'm ever in the area, I would give it another chance to see if it was just an off day. read more

First time at Beso this past weekend and I was really excited to try it. Unfortunately, it was probably some of the worst service I've ever experienced and I say that as someone who's worked in the industry for years, so I always try to be understanding when places are busy. Our waitress was dismissive and rude when we asked about allergies related to certain menu items, even telling us that "chips" were the only dairy-free option on the menu despite there being vegan items available. We also ordered dessert, which never came, and waited over 30 minutes for the check, having to ask twice for it. At one point, an employee almost left another party's dirty plates on our table and never cleaned ours off either. The bright spot was that the food and drinks were genuinely good, which is why I'd still be willing to give Beso another chance. Hopefully this was just an off night. read more

I come here quite regularly, specifically for the happy hour. The tacos and margs are consistently good, it's clean, good ambiance, good playlist. Another consistent is our server, Kerry. We're constantly in that back booth having a good time and Kerry is both kind and professional, always takes such good care of us, and checks on us at all the right times for refills on margs or tacos. She's the reason I decided to write another review. I literally come with new friends, same friends, and we have the same good time in different fonts, and she's always solid. We were excited to check out happy hour here and made a point to rush over after work, only to be told when we arrived that happy hour is bar seating only. Unfortunately, this important detail isn't mentioned anywhere on their menu or online. It was disappointing to be turned away after the effort to get here on time. I hope they update their menu and website to clearly state happy hour is limited to the bar -- it would save guests a lot of confusion and frustration. That said, the place looked great and we're open to giving it another try -- just wish the communication had been clearer. read more

My husband and I have been to Beso's several times. Food is always great. We usually sit at the bar and have always had great service. Unfortunately tonight that is not the case. Food was served quickly and was delicious. But the bartender was having a bad night. Several mistakes were made and she seemed distracted. She did call her manager a few times for help and he did come quickly. He is also the manager at the next door restaurant Blu Point which was his main focus. The bartender clearly needed help and he did not see it. We had a gift certificate that got put in wrong and the manager came over to help but did it quickly and couldn't get back to the other restaurant fast enough. Unfortunately we will not be back for a while. I do not blame the bartender who clearly needed help this particular evening, I blame management. Have a manager on sight at Beso or spend the time to help out. We are not the only couple who noticed this as there were definitely others at the bar who had the same opinion. read more

This place is definitely decorated in such a vibey way. It's right on the water and it seems that you can open the windows fully for one of those indoor out door experiences. The actual restaurant isn't that big. There is a nice bar in the middle and the service was great. Our waitress was very nice and patient. We got a few appetizers for our table including the guacamole and the shrimp ceviche. I liked both of them! For the drink I got the night in tulum. It wasn't my favorite. It was a gin based drink with blue curaçao but it had this interesting slushy consistency. I would never of thought my drink would look the way they did based on the description on the menu. I wish I would have ordered a different drink, it wasn't my favorites This isn't to say all the drinks are bad I tried my friends and some of them were fantastic and others were just okay. They all looked very pretty though. As for the tacos they range from about $3-$6. They are tiny but they were all delicious. I got the duck, carne asada, and the ahi tuna taco. Let me tell you that ahi tuna taco is something I still dream about! It was 10/10 amazing, like hands down one of the best tacos Ive ever had. I also had the besos fries which were curly fries with like this chipotle mayo sauce on it and a pico. They were delicious but I wish it had more sauce on it. All in all it was a good experience. I didn't like how all the tacos came out mixed together. We were a table of about 10 people so with everything coming out mixed together it did get confusing trying to figure out who had what taco. Ambiance and service was great...but I was very shocked at just how SMALL a taco could be. I ordered a shrimp and fish taco. Both were $3.98. Both corn tortillas the tacos were made with were the size of a medium apple. I had ONE shrimp on my shrimp taco and a pinky sized piece of fish on my fish taco. Never again. I want to start by saying that I truly enjoy coming to your establishment and have been a loyal customer for some time. However, I had an experience yesterday--Saturday, May 10--that was very upsetting. During our visit, we noticed that our waitress was spending a lot of time with a nearby table of four women who appeared to be her friends. She only came to our table once to ask if everything was okay, which struck us as unusual because the service is always amazing. Both our table and theirs ordered similar items: a pitcher of sangria, a meat platter, and tacos. However, when we received our bill, it totaled $320 for just three people--far more than expected. The waitress quickly charged the card, and the other table left right after. At my wife's request, we asked to see the bill again. That's when we realized we were charged for both our meal and the meal of the other table--seemingly giving her friends a free meal at our expense. This situation is not only deeply disappointing but also illegal. I'm hoping this was a misunderstanding, but I would appreciate a prompt review of the transaction and a clear explanation. Pls review the cameras from 7pm to about 1030pm when we left. The manager was informed about the situation, apologized sincerely, and covered our bill, which I appreciated. I truly hope this was an isolated incident, but I was shocked by the audacity of the waitress to add over $170 to our bill for what appeared to be her friends. It was completely unacceptable." I was starving and it's always so hard to find a restaurant open on Monday or Tueaday. Beso popped up and it wasn't on my list yet. I sat in the opening area to have a night view of the Hudson. The decor is really cute, frilly, and fun. They have a good selection of different food. Qith the apps and small plates, i could try a few things. I ended up with a 2 oz chorizo taco and 2 oz carnitas taco. Both good. Chorizo wasn't too greasy and both had great flavor. The Queso Fundido with the flour tortillas was very hot, so cheesy and very filling. My favorite was the Empanada. Decent size, cheesy, had a kick and the outside was perfectly crunchy. Been here twice now and it's quickly becoming a local favorite eating spot. The decor begins with incredibly inviting views of the Hudson River and Beacon shoreline with stunning mountains in the distance. The restaurant itself has an urban tropical feel to it. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. It happened to be national margarita day and she brought us each a margarita to start the night with. Our margarita had plenty of salt and a refreshing, not too sweet flavor. My husband and I shared our night with the ahi tuna appetizer. It was clean and refreshing. I also had to order their duck tacos. I have a grain allergy, so I requested my duck tacos come in a lettuce wrap instead of a corn tortilla. I love duck and these tacos do not disappoint. My husband and I shared the asada mixed grill for our entree and it was enough for the two of us. It comes with chicken, chorizo, carne, lamb, veggies, and tortillas. The meats were all well seasoned and delicious. Juicy, tender, flavorful. It also came with a smoked chipotle salsa that complimented each portion of the dish. Fantastic Mexican food with such a stunning view!! We sat on their heated patio and couldn't stop taking in the breathtaking mountains and Hudson River next to our table. It was a chilly day, but they kept the heat at the perfect temperature, so we were super comfortable. The restaurant is also so beautifully decorated inside! The whole experience made us dream of warmer days. Our server was so attentive and friendly - he made an effort to talk to us besides just getting our orders! I've been here a few times and have enjoyed it every time. The atmosphere is much more calm than some other similar nearby restaurants. You can enjoy a nice river view. The tacos are average - the birria taco is bigger than the others and one of their best. However, the drinks and side dishes are great. The passion fruit mezcal is my favorite cocktail that I've tried so far. The salsas are very flavorful - the green one is spicy and garlicky! The guacamole is also fresh and well balanced. The sweet plantains are cooked perfectly and pairs really well with the aioli dipping sauce. The churros and tres leches cake are also tasty. The Birria; short rib beef taco was absolutely delicious; so good I ordered another. Duck tacos were too soft, almost gummy, while the outer edges of the tacos were hard. The duck meat filling was too wet with sauce, although the flavors were delicious. Yucca fries were crispy and fresh, served with chamoy mayonnaise which was bubblegum pink from the hibiscus flowers they are made from. There was a lot of action at the bar, drinks looked very tasty. although I didn't order one this time. The waitstaff were patient and personable!
