This is a review for the restaurant at Inness, which was a pleasant surprise within the small town of Accord. We stumbled upon the restaurant while looking for a lunch spot, and were amazed by the views and ambiance of the establishment! The outsoor seating looked amazing next to the rolling hills surrounding the hotel. In terms of food, everything was quite tasty. My personal favorite was the pancake with fruits and marscapone. Items were similar to quality to those found in NYC, although prices are also similar. Service was very prompt, and our water cups were constantly filled. This is definitely worth checking out if in the area.

I was really impressed by Inness, and now I'm looking into booking a stay at their hotel after an amazing brunch experience. I stayed in the area for New Years and could not find a brunch place last minute. I called Inness and asked about availability, they had 15 minute wait. We waited in their beautiful and cozy lounge area with a fire place and amazing views on nature (imagine that in warmer seasons!). Our table was available quickly and we got seated. Staff there was really sweet and it made such a huge difference seeing that they are pet friendly and had several customers with little dogs Food at Inness was definitely worth the visit and worth for a return! Everything on the menu was carefully curated, showcasing a delightful fusion of flavors that elevate the brunch dining to a whole new level. Local flavors and produce, seasons items, it was all delish! I highly recommend the french toast Please come here, stay at their hotel and eat here!!

We had an outstanding dinner here. We got the bread & butter, stracciatella with figs and tomatoes, trout rilletes, mafaldini with chicken sugo, rigatoni with tomato and basil, carrots with ricotta, and two desserts (chocolate budino and blondie with vanilla ice cream). All three starters were outstanding, especially that stracciatella dish, which had great tomatoes and really amazing fresh figs. Both pastas were great too -- my wife preferred the mafaldini, but I really loved the rigatoni. On the desserts, I thought the budino was good, but the blondie was incredible, and the ice cream complemented it perfectly. We also stayed at the hotel, which was really amazing.

Tuna tartare with capers - really tasty

Pleasantly surprised by the food. Reminded me of food I ate in Italy - tasty because simply made but with quality ingredients. Really liked the tuna tartare. I am a sucker for capers so this was great. Also beautifully presented. The pasta con la bottarga (with fish roe) was very delicious, perfect texture with a little bit of citrusy flavor to balance the fish roe. The pizza diavola also tasted great - salami was v pork-y. Would have been better if it wasn't burnt. Marinara pizza was also good though I would stick with the wheat dough next time instead of the cauliflower crust which was almost like a flat bread. For lunch, the quiche and the prosciutto cotto tartine were both good. Menu is small so I might not want to eat there multiple days in a row. Dog friendly = a huge plus!

This resort, 9 hole golf course and spa is not fully completed as of this writing. There are organic gardens, hotel rooms, simply decorated with a spa and an outdoor bistro with smokers and grills. I was privy to the eating experience here. So I will not comment on the golf course, rooms or spa. As mentioned they are taking reservations at reduced prices. As per my dining here: we arrived for lunch, al fresco dining. To order one must go online. Food is then paid for and someone from the smoker and grilling area will serve it to you. A very nice presentation. I had skewered chicken with bulgar salad on pita bread. Amazing views with an amazing sunset overlooking 200+ acres bordering on the Catskills in the Hudson Valley.

"Among the Catskills, a disjointed member of the Adirondacks, there lives a simple and good natured…read morefellow named Rip Van Winkle". - Washington Irving. And I can continue to quote much chapter and verse of this posthumous writing as the writing is near and dear to my heart - the gallantry shown at Fort Christina and more, the true founders of New York and I wish the good Peter Styversant were here today to drop a heap of learning about America on you who don't understand not just NY history, but America! Love it or be gone. Arriving at 5:45, I hadn't inquired as to what time the first tee ball hits the air, turns out it's about 8:00am. So I practiced my sneaky bump and runs, flips and flops and Texas toe downs. And player worth his salt has to know a multitude of great escape shots. So I lead the field being put out as a single with twins and fours amassing behind me and being 2 years removed from the short grass (due to injuries) I was a bit nervy on the 1st tee, nobody knew who I was, everyone else knew each other. Fortunately I ripped a low 3 iron cut stinger and I was off, still walking and carrying my bag, adding layers and subtracting layers as it was nippy in the mountains. I love the classic shallow and square bunkering design originally popular with architecture from the 20's and 30's. The greens rolled true but I couldn't buy a putt, not much break out there and putting off the second collar is doable. The fairways were in the shape to be expected for early season golf, what I should have done was pay closer attention to the unseen creeks that protected some greens and ran out along the sides. But I was the first player and I needed to set a good pace out there. Overall, the course played extremely fair, I can't give the staff enough credit for such fine service for me, attentiveness and extremely friendly.

Rip Van Winkle holds a special place in my heart…read more Not only is it the closest golf course to my parents' home and as such the place where I've golfed the most in the past decade (not saying much), but it's also the first place my brother, my father and I played after my father went through some very serious medical issues. We weren't entirely sure if he would ever be able to play golf again, so it was an amazing feeling to get out and hit a few balls with him last year. My father is doing much better now (physically at least, not that much better at golf), and so we try and get out whenever possible. This adds up to a couple times a year here when I'm in town, and accordingly, I am very, very bad at golf. Please believe that no one is mistaking Rip Van Winkle for something that belongs on the PGA Tour. When Greene County hasn't gotten enough rain, you may see a few brown spots out there. It's only nine holes, and generally pretty flat. However, it's an accessible, family-run place that I feel lucky to be able to play. It's affordable (kids play free too), and has my kind of casual vibe. I love that if I forgot to pack a collared shirt, they don't hassle me. My dad says the owner John is a great guy, and I like that his teenage son is often riding around tidying up the course. It's a true family biz. They do a good job too; the greens are well-maintained, the mountain backdrop is gorgeous, and you can't be sad about any day you spend trying to knock a little white ball around a beautiful grassy area. I suppose I can be sad about how poorly I do it, but I'm pretty happy here overall.

This is actually two reviews, one for lodging and one for the restaurant…read more The restaurant: I'll start by saying that I did not want to eat here. Based on several bad reviews online, I wanted to skip the bar & grill, but we had a big party and the logistics of moving everyone made it impossible. I wasn't feeling confident when we arrived and we were the only ones there. I was wrong. First our server was fantastic, and not just because we were her only table. Second, the food was good. Again, I was not excited to eat here, and the fusion menu in a golf resort bar & grill gave me pause, so ordered the safe chicken cutlet sandwich. Others ordered the coconut shrimp, quesadilla, dumplings, Caesar salad and NY Strip Steak. It was all delicious. My chicken cutlet was fresh- rather than processed, fried perfectly and served in lovely ciabatta bread. No complaints from anyone at the table. The foodies I was with even enjoyed the house red...go figure. The lodging: The location is lovely, this is truly God's country. When we arrived for a wedding weekend, it was us and two others, also there for the wedding. We have no idea what the season is for the Catskill's. but we couldn't believe it was so quiet given the gorgeous foliage. The lodging in motel style, but a bit elevated. There's an elevator and it is covered. The rooms were nice, the fridge was a nice touch and the beds were very comfortable. If in the area again we would definitely stay there.

My husband and a group of 11 stayed here this weekend for a bachelor party, and the experience was…read moreextremely disappointing--especially considering the cost (around $600 -$800 PER person for the weekend). From the start, the service was poor. At dinner, they were treated beyond rudely by staff (specifically the waitress VIOLET), and the food was served cold. No one wanted to make an issue of it at the time because it was supposed to be a celebratory weekend, but it set the tone. The environment/atmosphere was hostile and therefore made them not even attempt to go to the bar. No other activities on site either. Very outdated buildings and rooms. The situation got worse when my husband's room flooded on Saturday evening. At that point, a few of the guys went to speak with management, who actually turned out to be the OWNER, and the response they received was essentially dismissive--no real accountability, no effort to make things right. He was moved to another room because he had to be, and when his new room had zero hot water to take a shower, they again had nothing to say besides "maintenance is coming in on Monday". For the amount of money spent, this was completely unacceptable. A group of 11 guests should not be made to feel like their concerns don't matter, especially during a special event. Before they left on Sunday they voiced their concerns and a staff member told them they would have to call Monday to speak to the owner again...... guessing that will be another waste of time. I would not recommend staying here. There are plenty of other places that value their guests and provide the level of service you'd expect at this price point.

I actually got to start the day playing golf with my brothers-in-law and had a great time. I hadn't played much this year...played well for about 13 holes then the wheels came off and I started spraying the ball all over the place...still a fun day though. Can be a very tough course and the greens are unforgiving on bad shots and bad reads. After golf, we showered and got ready at the club while the wives got their mother to the club. It's been a very long time since I've been up here at Wiltwyck and having a couple drinks after our round help take the edge off a bit. Such a beautiful view of the course from the bar-though it tends to remind me of how little time we seem to have for ourselves these days. Anyway, once people started showing up we started with some drinks (or MORE drinks for me) and passed hors d'oeuvers before sitting down to an amazing buffet that included salmon, a carving table with tenderloin, roasted chicken, pasta, salads, veggies, etc. If there's one thing I've never questioned in all the times I've eaten at this club it's the food- it's always top notch. My wife and I actually had our wedding reception her a "few" years back and they really do a great job at formal, semi-formal, and just regular daily events. They hit the ball out of the park on our wedding night and they did it again when we were there for the party recently. You won't generally get anything TOO fancy at a buffet type of dinner like we had, but there have been times when, for dinner, the chef will get creative and when he does, you're taste buds are in for a treat. In a nutshell...Great golf, great food, great service, and great times...wish I lived closer and had enough extra time and $$ to be members here.
