    Site of meditation retreat.
    Nancy T.

The two H'a in Hasbrouck House do NOT stand for 'hospitality.' Alert NYC urbanites who arrive to the Hasbrouck House in historic Stone Ridge, New York via mass transit and expect competent assistance from the Front Desk. STOP. Do not pass GO. I selected the lodging due to its walking distance proximity to a meditation retreat held at 3588 Main Street. On the hottest evening of the year, I asked the front desk person whether I was to go right or left on Main to get to my retreat. They said left and gestured where to go. I did as told, and discovered there was no sidewalk. Cars were speeding by at a fast and furious pace and I was hugging the side of the road wondering how to avoid being sideswiped and killed. I waited till the cars stopped speeding by and made a mad dash back to the hotel lobby. I relayed to the front desk person that there is no safe way to walk to the retreat. She shrugs and says the sidewalks can be touch and go, no consistency. I look into getting a ride share which is non existent in Stone Ridge. I ask if there is a local cab company. She shares a taxi service number. I call and the dispatcher has never heard of the Hasbrouck House as the cab dispatcher is in Kingston. At this point, I am sweating profusely and ask the front desk person for a water. She fetches one, mumbling she will have to charge it to my overpriced room. I tell her that I am going to reserve a ride share and head back to Manhattan and that I will require a refund for my two night stay. Clearly I am not going to be able to get to the retreat which I had been previously assured by the "hotel" was a safe ten minute walk. Front desk gal says she must get the manager. After explaining it to her, the manager said that there was indeed a sidewalk to the RIGHT side of Main. Hence, I ended up race walking to my 7 pm session arriving 20 minutes late. The manager made a point of saying that no one receives a refund....ever - a hospitality pledge only made by fools. So imagine my surprise after averting death by traffic that they went ahead and invoiced me $3 for a bottle of water on a $950 hotel tab. Here's an idea! How about TRAINING the front desk people to learn how to accommodate the needs of people unfamiliar with the region? How about OFFERING water for all guests for free - most urgent during the hottest days of the year! The audacity to charge over $450 a night in a drive-by town and demand a tiny bottle of water be a la Carte! While the staircase is very narrow and steep, my room was lovely. Had I gotten killed following the "directions" of your poorly trained and feeble minded staff and been hit by a car, I am sure my fine accommodations would have meant nothing to my family. On my bus ride back, I ran into a fellow NYC traveler who was a guest at your hotel earlier in the week. On her first evening, she was awoken by a fire alarm which went off in her room. No fire; a malfunction. This has happened to me while staying at fine hotels and I was always given a complete credit for that night's lodging. Fellow NYC traveler was told that the matter had to be put up to committee. Funny, I received the same note about my water charge. This "committee" is surely captained by a fool. Consider having car service on site as an added service. Your town is NOT a destination. If you are trying to make it one, at least accommodate the poor car-less souls who had the misfortune to be stationed there. Hey Hasbrouck House management, yes, you need to build it - or in your case renovate it - for people to come, but more importantly, you need to MANAGE it.

I cannot recommend HH enough! I stayed here for MLK weekend and was so impressed! I took advantage of every single perk HH had to offer and was so incredibly touched by how kind and accommodating the staff was. I also brought my little pup who had the most amazing time, too.

This is my fourth stay here. Sadly, if there isn't a remarkable turnaround, this will be my last. The staff greeted us with a bit too much enthusiasm, as if this were a pep rally for the local upstate high school. There was lots of giggling and over-exuberance, so much so that it was considered a parody. The room, while cute and quaint, had a tv with no internet access, leaving us with basic cable tv. The remote control was scotch-taped together. Room service has been discontinued. The restaurant at one time was a very nice place with great ambience, service and delicious food. That too has left the building. The food was Applebee's quality at-best. Everything was deep fried, over-salted, and plated like I was at a cafeteria. The server was either high, drunk, or both and couldn't remember anything. She took our order, then 15 minutes later returned to take our order again! She didn't put it in the first time. She seemed confused the entire time. Very peculiar experience. First thing this morning, we attempt to make a coffee in the room, and the Nespresso machine hadn't been cleaned and descaled so it was inoperable. $400 a night for this place? To the owners of this hotel, you need to clean house, both literally, and figuratively. Get rid of the giggling high school staff and employ adults that are in the hospitality business. Your chef needs to go back to making onion rings at the local diner, and your bartender needs to go to rehab. Put the scotch tape away and buy a $250 smart tv for the rooms, clean the coffee makers, and for the love of God try and manage this place with a little pride and care. I've stayed here before and it was a magical experience. This time, we left immediately this morning as we were turned off completely by the experience. Shame on you.

Wow, a truly incredible experience. My husband and I booked last minute July 4th weekend and stayed in room #17. First let me talk about the grounds and state everything was extremely clean and beautiful. Even though the inn was totally booked, it never felt crowded. The room was clean, but there was an AC issue which the inn went above and beyond to help us with and rectify the situation. Then the service was great. Everyone was so kind that worked there and helpful. I also loved the pool area and the tent where they had yummy food and movies playing at night. The restaurant is also fabulous as well. Overall, I would come here again for sure.

LOVE LOVE LOVE it here! My boyfriend and I discovered Hasbrouck House last year because we won a gift card to their restaurant, Butterfield, as part of a Yelp Elite Restaurant Week Raffle. We had a lovely time dining at this romantic and intimate eatery, and even though we haven't been back to Butterfield yet (it's amazing but pricy!), we've discovered Hasbrouck House's Summer Sunset Movie series that's been running through the summer and fall! Every week, there are different movie themes, from Disney animated classics to 2020 Oscar nominees, plus an "Industry Night" on Mondays where a food and beverage themed film is shown. Past offerings have included Waitress, Big Night, and Chef - the perfect night out for the foodie in your life! The Sunset Movie is a great way to get out of the house and have some amazing food and COVID safe fun. The films are screened under an open air tent, and masks are required for guests unless you are sitting at a socially distanced table. Hasbrouck House also has an outdoor kitchen, Butcher and Bar, which offers incredible veggie/beef/Impossible burgers on pillowy sesame buns, flavorful Parmesan truffle cheese fries, and creative seasonal cocktails like (strong !!) mango margaritas and frozen spiked apple cider. That was the signature drink offering at our most recent visit, and even though the portion was relatively small, it was SO good! I'm still thinking about it. Definitely my fave fall cocktail for sure. Most of the movies begin around 7:30 PM, and the kitchen stays open till 8 for food, so you can nosh away while you watch the big screen magic. They also stay open for popcorn, beverages, and ice cream treats until the end of the film, and I highly recommend trying the local Tipsy Scoop alcohol infused ice cream (the chocolate bourbon caramel flavor is to die for), or the ZoraDora Paletas, made just a few miles away in Beacon, NY. Both are a refreshing way to end your evening! Get here before the film and take in the beauty of the grounds! Stone Ridge is an adorably picturesque town, and my boyfriend and I relish the drive to and from Hasbrouck House because we love seeing the fall foliage and the quaint back roads that wind their way through upstate New York. Getting here is half the fun! The hotel is really sweet, and rustic details like twinkle fairy lights and hidden hammocks adorn the grounds, plus they have lawn games that you can play while you wait for the film to begin. Also kudos to Hasbrouck House for offering clean bathrooms to guests who come for the movie. It's SO appreciated, honestly. The movie itself is free to attend, and this is one of the most fun and underrated hidden gem events in the Hudson Valley. If you want a unique twist to the so-so "dinner and a movie", definitely come here for a memorable night under the stars!

I went up to get away from the city and clear my head . It was a perfect destination to do that . The staff was really nice , the room was clean and quiet, the restaurant was top notch, the bar was comfy and the grounds included Woods in the back which enabled me to commune with nature and birds , there were lots of birds . Even though it was winter and there wasn't much to do, it was perfect for what I needed . And they have a nice spa and great sauna

My partner and I went up to the Hasbrouk House for a weekend out of the city. Celebrating a birthday and wanting to relax/ see changing leaves. The hotel did not disappoint. We stayed in Room 12 of the carriage house. Very spacious, bed was comfortable, decor is simple but lovely. The walls aren't super soundproof but wasn't horrible. We loved the nightly bonfires/ s'mores and the property surrounding the hotel. We got massages, ate the fresh donuts every morning and enjoyed a few cocktails in the living room. We also enjoyed Butterfields for dinner both nights. Food was great (esp the cauliflower). We explored Kingston and went hiking- everything very accessible to the hotel. Every staff person that we encountered was friendly and thoughtful and knowledgeable. If you're looking for a place to completely relax and escape- book a room here for the weekend. You won't regret it.

My boyfriend and I came here for lovely weekend getaway and it was more than just amazing! We were trying to kill two birds with one stone - have a romantic weekend away while also charging my boyfriends electric car and voila! Hasbrouck House has the best of all of the worlds with its gorgeous design (see; custom wallpapers, velvets and heated bathroom floor), welcoming staff (& their handsome golden labs), cozy fireplace, delicious restaurant and outdoor pool (with a hammock made for hanging). Ten out of ten stars! Would recommend!

There was a cloying smell permeating the building that did not dissipate despite open windows all night (in 27° weather). The furniture is shabby and uncomfortable. There are klieg lights alongside every window upstairs, so you can't sleep. It really is right on 209 and they know it's noisy because they said they offer their guests earplugs! (Which they never actually did.) The only bright spot were the linens, which were actually quite nice. More than all that, the owners are unavailable and really (really - believe the other reviews) don't care. They are not reachable and Chef Marc is very nice but can't do anything for you. We had to leave, not because it was hell to be there, but because of a sudden family medical emergency, and they refused to even refund us down to their 3-night minimum. We had paid in advance for 8 nights - and just the previous day, so it wasn't like anyone else would have booked it. We understood that they would want their minimum stay and cleaning fee. But they didn't refund us one penny. They are really unfeeling, uncaring people. Avoid this place!!!
