The is more like a 3.5, but the extra .5 is because the owner and staff were so nice. My bf and I stayed here overnight during a spontaneous weekend staycation back in August. We found this place because it was in the same direction of the cavern we were heading and we didn't want to stay at the creepy hotel near it (see Holiday Motel review). But I'm really glad we did because it turned out to be quite charming and quaint. We met the owner when we checked in and she was very sweet and helpful. I believe she said she was originally from NJ and did something completely different, but she just decided to pick up and move up there and open her own lodge...that made me like her even more for some reason. The place is so cozy and there are only a few rooms, so it felt very intimate. Our room didn't look much like the ones on the website, as it was carpeted and seemed much smaller than pictured. But it was comfortable and clean, and that's all we really cared about. There was an old school tube TV in the room which worked, but was a little fuzzy at times. We barely got cell reception up there and I think there was only WiFi in the lobby, but the service was really poor. It actually turned out to be a good thing because we just disconnected ourselves from technology and relaxed. However the highlight was definitely the restaurant, which is right in the back of the inn. The inn was relatively quiet and we literally only saw 3-4 other people ever come out of the rooms, but the restaurant/bar was actually bustling with locals from the area. Everything was homemade, down to the salad dressing, butter and bread, and I think that's what made it so good. The staff was so friendly that it definitely left an impression. The next morning there was a continental breakfast laid out in the lobby. But it was mainly hard bagels and rolls that I could tell were not fresh or homemade, but that's typical of any hotel continental breakfast. If they could make that fresh, it was be so much more amazing but I would still certainly return here regardless.

The cabin was very clean with two ponchos that you can wear when you go to the steam room sauna or heated outdoor pool. All very clean. We ordered our breakfast basket to be delivered in the morning. The breakfast basket was sooo good. We got orange juice, hard boiled eggs, some pastries, yogurt parfait, blueberries and strawberries with granola. All in these cute mason jars. Our coffee was piping hot, just the way I like it with oat milk. I would definitely recommend going for an awesome mountain getaway.

There were four of us in the car coming for dinner, and I believe we exclaimed collectively: wow. First impression did not disappoint. It was a freezing evening and we hurried inside. Another 'wow'. The check in area for the hotel is like an office space in any Mid-Century Modern fanatic's home - or, they wish it was. Just terrific. We were seated by the large windows overlooking the grounds. I could not get enough of the clean, purposely unfinished blonde wood, big windows, yet the amazing cozy feeling you got inside from the couches and other decor. Not only can you come for a dinner but plant your butt for the day with a book or computer and just start with a tea, work your way to coffee, and at noon just go for the cocktails. Nothing wrong with that. Like I said, there were four of us and it seemed we ordered one of each items on the menu - a total of 9 dishes. Everything came superbly finished and seasoned - no objections or comments from anyone other than praise. We split 2 desserts, and we had 6 drinks to the table. The maple squash was particularly finger-licking-delicious, as was the beet salad. At the end of our meal we had the pleasure to meet one of the co-owners of the establishment, Bjorn. Super nice guy who told us the story of the beginnings and how the place came about. We left full, happy, and couldn't stop talking about the resort all the way home. The bill, with tip, came out to be $400. I will definitely come back and I can't wait what else will be added to the Dandelion menu.

From start to finish it was truly a wonderful experience. Absolutely a night of classic elegance and decadent food. We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation to sit at the bar and have a pre-dinner cocktail. We each had an old fashioned, which were excellently made by the very friendly bartender. The bar area was small and intimate with small side areas with high top tables, couches and armchairs. We could have happily spent all night in this area. We were later seated in the restaurant area and had another round of drinks, an appetizer (roasted pork terrine) and two entrees (chicken Milanese and the lamb shoulder ragu). Each dish was rich and flavorful. Great food, great service, beautiful building and grounds. Easy 5 start review.

Stayed in the one dog-friendly cabin which was excellent - cabin had a smart layout, and was spacious, cozy, clean (with one minor exception) and quiet. Also, the main lobby area is lovely and the local restaurant is great. The burger I had here was frankly among the best I've ever had, and I'm picky. I cannot though in good faith give this Inn 5 stars for 3 important reasons: 1. The free breakfast has very irritating strings attached; you are given a fairly limited selection of food options and a strict "no modifications" policy is in place. Whomever is managing this place, I do urge you to reconsider this archaic approach which really detracts from the quality of one of the key elements of the stay. Reasonable modifications are easy to accommodate, inexpensive and would be far more aligned with this hotel's image as a high-end establishment. Which is why that's the approach in virtually all like-regarded hotels in the country these days... 2. Heating of the outdoor pool was stopped 2 days prior to our arrival on a "seasonal decision" basis, per the front desk. This is frankly tantamount to closing the pool altogether, during a week where temps hovered in the 60s, so still very much legitimate pool weather. If you close the pool on guests, at least ping them in advance and/or offer some type of compensation considering the pool is one of the draws. Again, I feel like this is the type of nickel-and-diming that does disservice to the establishment's reputation. 3. The water pressure in the cabin showers was irritatingly low.

We arrived at a mildew-covered "Cabin" 7 (a garage extension) and a dead rotting snake on our doorstep; it smelled DISGUSTING. Rose, the manager came when I asked her to remove it and threw it over maybe 3ft, we smelled it the whole time until we had to move it ourselves. The inside of Cabin 7 is covered in black mold, and in the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms, it smelled so bad that we got out our air fresheners from the car and wound up having to leave, which was so sad because we were in town for a wedding we had been looking forward to for months with nowhere else to stay. I wish I read the reviews before the book, as I 100% would have gone somewhere else. My family had rodents in their cabin 4 and open bags of peanuts and snacks everywhere. They obviously didn't clean ANY of the cabins; who leaves open snacks in a rural cabin? There was no cleaning crew on site the 3 days and two nights we were there, only Rose, the sole employee, running around like a chicken with her head cut off. None of the lights in Cabin 5 worked for my dad, and he was left in a musty, old, dark cabin. Hmmm, what else, there were cigarette butts in all of the dilapidated grills, construction and rock piles everywhere, huge holds in the road. Out of every window and every view was ugly construction equipment. No groundskeeping was done, weeds were overrun with poison ivy all over our deck, and we couldn't even go outside. A slimy green-colored pool infested with frogs. Oh and NONE of the lights worked or electrical sockets worked in two of the cabins, we had to use our flashlights on our phones. The whole place has spotty bad electricity, so whatever you want to plug in would fall out of the wall! The SADDEST part?! We paid $504 for TWO nights and were not told of 1. Construction is everywhere. 2. The pool was not open (as if anyone would dare to go in it) in the middle of June perfect warm weather. Rose refused to offer us any sort of refund for the fact we wound up leaving it was so gross. She said it's policy to report stuff on site, not after, even though she was nowhere to be found and didn't answer any calls or texts from me or any of my family. Rose was so incredibly rude and told me I lied about the mold, which I have pictures of. Ruined what could have been a nice family weekend and risked my health and safety. Oh, I forgot to mention. I paid half upon booking, and the other half was to be paid upon checkout. We hadn't even put our bags down before I got a notification that my card had been charged the balance. I would have never stayed OR paid the balance if I had a choice after I saw our "cabin" (a garage attachment). When I asked Rose for a refund, she stated all complaints were to be made during the stay, which no one responded to. This is a money-making machine, and they do not care about the area, grounds, or you.
