I had a wonderful time. The place is gorgeous and the town is really fun. There's a mountain right outside the bed and breakfast. Our rooms were really pretty. Great host, great food! Definitely recommend!

You will not go wrong staying at the Fairlawn Inn. My wife and I stayed at the Fairlawn Inn based on the high reviews and ratings on various web sites, even though the prices were a little bit more expensive than other area accommodations. As such, our expectations were high. This is the second Bed and Breakfast we've ever stayed at, our first being in the Poconos last year. That was a very positive experience which made us want to try another one. The Fairlawn Inn met our high expectations. You can believe the good things you read... As with any establishment, there were some issues. For instance there were a few spider webs in the room, specifically from the ceiling light fixture to the wall, but nothing of major concern (in fact at the last Bed and Breakfast we stayed at I found a large spider crawling on my pillow, so that's nothing new). My only complaint was that upon checking in after a day of skiing, we were looking forward to being able to take a nice hot shower. I assume other guests had the same idea because neither of us had hot water during our showers. So if you book the room with the two person jacuzzi, I'm not sure if you'll actually have enough hot water to fill it. As for privacy, we could hear the guests in the adjacent rooms (we stayed in the Rose room), so don't plan on having too much privacy. However, they were quiet and we were able to go to sleep early, since we were really tired. We utilized the built-in DVD player on the 19" LCD TV in our room for a Netflix movie we brought. However, we were too tired to make it all the way through. (I've heard many B&Bs don't give you a TV) The added touched of a soft drink stocked mini-fridge behind the dry bar downstairs and snacks was a nice touch. Breakfast was good, as well. Chuck was a gracious inn keeper and runs his Bed and Breakfast efficiently. If you're planning to visit Hunter Mountain for skiing or summer-time activities, this location is excellent. From our seat at breakfast we could see the slopes across the street.

Really beautiful and well maintained inn. Was staying here with some friends for a wedding. Sandy, the new owner, was extremely accommodating and generous and helped us feel so at home. She let us check in early and made us breakfast in the morning - really made us feel like we were family! The area is also very pleasant to walk around in, situated close to Hunter mountain. I would love to come back again!

My husband and I stayed at this amazing inn for a weekend skiing trip at Hunter Mountain, and we loved it. First the location, it is right next to the ski resort, 2 min drive, and we can actually see the trails from our room. Second, the innkeeper Sandy is very friendly, helpful, and hospitable. She gave us great local restaurant and bar recommendations, and made us feel like home. They took precautions for Covid19, and everyone was wearing masks and keeping social distancing. They offered complimentary coffee & tea, soda & bottled water, and breakfast (bakery, fruit, yogurt, instant noodle! etc). Third, the inn itself is a gem, victorian style with historical touch. We learned about the history of this inn from Sandy, and how she was selected as the 4th generation innkeeper among many candidates in 2020. Our room was spacious, clean, and quiet, and we cannot wait to come back soon!

Quaint, clean, welcoming, homey, friendly, and extremely hospitable. Cris the Inn Keeper made us feel at home and even made us breakfast! Location: 15mins from Kaaterskill Falls for Hiking / Catskill Mountains and literally a 10min walk from Hunter Mountain for Fall festivities like Oktoberfest. Also less than 10min drive to the town of Tannersville where you'll find a few restaurants, bars, and shops. There is also a little plaza walking distance that has a bar-Ronnie MacGregor, bagel spot, pizza, etc. We came up from Manhattan so it was about 2hr 15m drive but definitely worth it if you want to get away from the city bustle. There is also ziplining at Hunter Mountain for those interested, essentially lots to do nearby. Accommodation: We had Room #2, it was spacious enough for us 3 girls, clean and quaint. We spent a night here and it was just what we needed. Bed that fit two and Cris set up the pullout sofa bed for us for the 3rd. He made it before we returned from dinner which was really nice. The room has no TV (which is fine since there is one in the downstairs common area) and to be honest you don't want one up here. It's just perfect to wind down/relax - away from all of the usual distractions. Our room faced the back lot but with the colors/fall foliage it was great little view. There is a private bathroom in the room, which was great to have at a small Inn (amenities included body soap, shampoo, and conditioner) included and if you need a hairdryer (just ask Cris). The door closes but not fully shut-an easy fix though. There are also towels (hand / shower ones), extra blankets if needed, there is AC in the room and a dresser. Plenty of outlets too which was great for us and all of our phones/cameras. The bed/sofa bed were a bit stiff / harder than the mattresses we're used to but that was the only critique we really had, not a huge deal breaker for me. We had little mints in the room too which was nice. It seems each room has a different theme or style, I'd recommend you check their direct website for details on the room you book. Sedgwick House Overall: As you drive up you notice it's a cute B&B, well maintained, welcoming, and charming. The sign out front is really cute too! There is a social room that has board games, a TV, books to read, little informational flyers, and is just a nice little area to hang out if you'd like to get out of the room. There is also the breakfast/dining area where you'll find a family style table for breakfast. We ate with 4 other guests of the B&B and it was so nice to actually have a meal with others and socialized (not just eat glued to the TV). It was nice that he made us all breakfast at 9a (he let us pick the time!) which gave us a chance to socialize and meet others that were up for the weekend. You can chose your type of egg, toast, sausage or bacon and there's a variety of yummy jams, orange juice, coffee, tea, etc. There are also a variety of snacks kept out for guests: chips, cookies, water, candies etc. There is also another little room with a fireplace, couch, just hang out area- we didn't spend time in there but took a peek. The decor overall is a more traditional, old school country vibe. There is a really nice front porch with tables and seating and also a little seating area along the side of the house. The girls and I actually took our picnic blanket that we had a laid it outside the front of the house at like 11p to star gaze and it was great, you can see so many stars on a night, clear night, a real treat for city folk. If we would have spent another night I would have loved to just sit on the porch and read- next time! Also very nice views of the mountain from the front of the house. Grounds/grass well managed as well. Also has bathrooms on the lower level towards the back of the house. There is no official Front Desk area, usually Cris will be there so if you arrive and he's not there, he'll most likely leave you his number to call when you arrive as he likes to greet all the guests. There is free Wif too-i we didn't get a chance to ask for the password since we were only there a night and it didn't make a difference but if you think you'll need it be sure to ask when you arrive so you have it. Inn Keeper: Cris is very attentive and wants his guests to be comfortable and feel at home. He was very responsive and puts in a lot of work to make sure the Sedgwick House is kept nice. He runs the Inn with his wife Florentina who I spoke with on the phone to make my reservation and both are very sweet. It's definitely a homey place and one I'd be happy to return to on my next trip. Overall: I'd recommend if your looking for a nice, simple, rustic, country style, charming spot to spend a weekend or few days out of the city. It was also reasonably priced and right

Our bagged breakfast was missing a few items we ordered. That really was not ideal, as we had a long drive ahead of us to the city. So we ended up having to stop to get a couple of things since what we planned on having was not there. Also, the wait for someone to be at check in was long. We went to the Stratton falls first accidentally. It's 2.5 miles from where our location was. Apparently, the guy at check in saw us and knew we were at the wrong property (they were full at that location) but didn't tell us when he saw us. (We didn't see him). When my son finally found someone (that guy) he said "I saw you when you came in and knew you went to the wrong place...". Ok.... So you just let us stand around for 12 min, before we went searching for you? He wouldn't even give us more than "it's down the road." Directions to the other place. That guy was an awful first impression. The lady at our location was lovely, but he made the initial feeling stick with me. So, customer service sucked because of him. I had friends that came to meet us from 30 min away and had to wait an additional 20 min thanks to that guy. Would I suggest it? If the service continues like it was... no. Fun themes though. I hear they moved to new ownership, so maybe that's what is going on.
