Second time staying here. It is so convenient to the ski resort, and the amenities make the price worth it. We have been greeted each time like welcomed guests. They have a concierge for your ski equipment, and a shuttle if needed (it wasn't needed this time, there was plenty of snow on the path to ski to the lifts). We were hoping to enjoy the restaurant and bar (The Van Winkle) but it was unfortunately closed for a private event. We were given a booklet of nearby places to eat, which was helpful. The room had a luxurious feel to it, spa-like. It was clean and well stocked. We had wifi keys which is a nice feature, and the elevators were efficient. Breakfast was included, and it was a "grab and go" assortment of oatmeal, pastries, apples and granola bars, along with hot beverages. I would have liked it if the hot beverages had been available after skiing as well, but there were coffee pots in the room with coffee, teas and actual mugs, along with creamers and sweeteners. We will surely be coming back to this great location! read more

My friends and I came up to Hunter Mountain for the weekend to ski. This hotel is exactly as you could expect - it's a very cozy, chalet vibe, and the rooms are very cute and totally OK. What is unexpectedly amazing about this hotel is the service. I have never experienced such warmness and understanding from any hotel staff. There was a snow storm on Sunday and my friends actually got into a car accident. Thankfully, nothing terrible happened and everyone was safe, but the whole experience had us shook. That was the day we were supposed to check-out. As you can imagine, we were all worried about driving back in these conditions, especially as the storm kept getting worse, rather than slowing down. The hotel staff offered to extend our stay, free of charge, so that we could wait out the storm. They even provided us with extra linens and towels so we could have a more comfy evening. I cannot say how thankful we all are. Our stay at the Kaatskill Mountain Club was amazing. Aside from the amazing staff, the hotel amenities themselves are pretty cool. We had a fun time at the hot tub and heated pool, and the complimentary breakfast is the perfect pick me up before a long ski day. If you're looking for a cozy weekend getaway, and an amazing hospitality, that's the place for you. read more

We came here off season and were lucky to get a unit overlooking the ski slopes. All in all, we were happy with our stay except for a few disappointments. First, there weren't any activities. We stayed at other timeshares during the off-season, but they still had activities like arts and crafts for kids, movies, and YOGA. Another disappointment were the laundry facilities. There was only one washer and dryer for four floors of units. Luckily, our unit was only down the hall from the laundry. Secondly. we had to pay for doing our laundry. Two dollars per load. In all, it was $4 to wash and dry a load. This was the only time in all of our timeshare travel that doing laundry wasn't free. The smoke detector in our unit was highly sensitive and kept going off, even with just boiling water. We tried cleaning the oven, but even that set off the smoke alarm. That was an issue for us because we were traveling with a baby. Speaking of babies, on a positive note, the staff was excellent in accommodating us for the baby. They gave us a Pack and Play without us even having to ask. That came in handy. The resort is right at Hunter Mountain and we definitely will come again during ski season. The unit was well appointed as well. We were here this time for business reasons. It was a fun place to stay and made having to work more enjoyable. The mountains were breathtaking and the towns of Hunter and Tannersville are close by with ample grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations and shops. We hope to return soon! read more

The facilities and hotel are gorgeous and most of the staff are lovely, however, Krista working at the front desk on 9/6 was one of the most horrendously unhelpful and dismissive people I've ever met and it's a wonder how she ever got a job in hospitality. Ran into a reservation snag and rather than even try to be helpful she was immediately rude, dismissive and truly useless beyond compare. Nasty and smug for no reason. Get rid of this ugly stain on your beautiful property, especially to have her as the face of your front desk at any time is embarrassing. read more

Stayed from Monday through Friday. Very clean rooms I was in a deluxe studio room which was lovely. Had a full size fridge,microwave ,toaster, full stove ,fireplace .The decor was lovely,staff was very helpful, the hallways were clean rugs looked well cared for. Good sized TV everything worked and plenty of dish ware but we did cook extensively and brought 4 pots and pans from home to add to the provided cookware. The rest of the group 4 adults and 2 kids were in a 2 bedroom condo on the same floor-very nice. The 3rd floor was quiet at night and the locks on the doors worked great. The washer and dryer were free . The 2 hot tub outside was a lot of fun and the shuttle to the ski mountain was efficient but not available on Wednesday. The pool was large and heated outdoors but was too cold for me..Overall a good time was had by us all. read more

Katskill Mountain Club is a beautiful hotel. It's situated directly at the base of Hunter Mountain, so the location really can't be beat. The rooms are absolutely massive. I stayed in a one bedroom suite, and was not expecting the room to be half as large as it was. A huge bedroom, a Jacuzzi, a spacious bathroom, lots of closets, a living room with a murphy bed and a big kitchen and kitchen table. Oh, and the living room and bedroom both had walk out balconies that overlooked the pool and lush green mountains. Our room doubled as a bridal suite, and we very comfortably fit our group of 10 plus hair and make up stations. So yes, it was that big. The price tag was a bit hefty at around 300, but was worth it considering the size of the room and the fact that we stayed over a holiday weekend. All in all, this is a solid hotel pick in the Hunter Mountain area. Yes, there are lots of small B&Bs around, but if you are looking for a real mountain resort experience then this checks off all boxes. read more

Expensive Ski In Ski Out Comfort. Let's face it, the only reason to stay here is because of the ease and comfort of ski in and ski out - and you pay for it. The convenience of parking and ski in is great! The rooms are very standardized with the same oven, microwave, refrigerator, bathroom, etc. The refrigerator is full sized, oven is electric (vs. gas), microwave is big. Fireplace is super nice to warm up with. The garbage can is way too small. Would it kill them to leave an extra garbage bag and a proper sponge to wash dishes? Internet is super slow. This early in the ski season though, they make you request opening the heated outdoor pool and/or hot tub. Firepit s'mores are only available on Saturday nights (even if you bring your own supplies). Having Rip Van Winkles as the only walking food options is the worst - we'd kill to be able to just get the food available at the main food courtyard. And the gym - no towels or you have to ask at the spa but i love the cold water cooler - both treadmills didn't work correctly with one slowing down slightly every few minutes and the other would not increase past 3.0 speed. I do hope they fix this. But we always go back - they know they have you at ski in ski out!More read more

I've been traveling upstate my entire life... this is by far the worst accommodations I've ever seen. Old rooms- need MAJOR updating. They tell you rooms can fit 4 with 2 queen beds. More like a double bed and a pull out couch. Was told they don't have rooms with two beds in them. They charged us $400 for ONE night because it was "octoberfest". This room isn't worth anything close to that! Beds are so old and outdated- very uncomfortable. This is definitely a joke- would NEVER return. read more

Let me start by saying that I completely understand that we as a nation are in recovery mode from the virus. However, that's pretty much where my understanding will end on my stay at this particular hotel. While the view is wonderful and the suite we stayed in was well appointed, I have to remove the stars purely for the lack of amenities on this visit. My partner and I stayed for what was required as a two night stay. We really were only looking for a night away for relief from being at home, but were required to buy two instead due to a policy change, quoted by their front desk as relief for their house keeping staff. It being a Sunday/Monday night stay, the hotel was predictably deserted. However, this doesn't particularly excuse the fact that absolutely nothing was working. No internet, the phone in the room didn't work to call the front desk, the t.v. got basic channels, but no listing nor any web based services, obviously a repercussion of the internet being out. The restaurant was closed, which was not divulged by either the website or the booking attendant upon speaking with two of them on separate occasions. And, to boot, their booking support was nearly non existent. I ultimately had to do it myself online, which isn't a big deal, but is a detail worth mentioning in this instance. I called the manager of the hotel to discuss the particulars of my stay, stating that I would really like to return to experience the hotel in the fashion which I am sure it is capable. Their offer was 10% off a future stay. So, next time it will be $360 instead of $400 to stay in a hotel where nothing... absolutely nothing works. Hope they get their act together. It is a beautiful area and worth visiting. Just not sure this would be the place I would choose to stay. read more

I don't ask for much, but every time I come here the rooms are filthy and not maintained. Management always has tons of excuses and then makes promises they don't fill. Worst stay me and my wife have ever had in a hotel. The people in the room next to us were having a huge party with music blasting, yelling, and we're running up and down the halls to other rooms like kids. I heard security come up at one point said they were called by the room beneath them and ask them to turn it down, they said sure but didn't at all and security just walked away. A half hour later I heard security again said the people on the other side of them had called, same thing didn't lower volume at all. I called at midnight and same thing. Party didn't start to die down until 1am after which we could finally fall asleep even though there was still music through the walls. When I checked out I said at the desk that the people in that room number were obnoxious and we couldn't get to sleep until 1am and the woman at the front desk just said yeah they got a ton of calls and they sent security up a few times and they wouldn't listen to them but that's all they can do and they were sorry. So if you stay here hope you don't have bad neighbors because the hotel won't do anything about it if you do. read more

Booked a 1,000 dollar dinner party and they gave a discounted room. After they locked in the dinner party and charged the card, the price of the room went up 300 dollars. Front desk said the verbal I had from catering was meaningless to them. They had me over a barrel and they know it so I had to eat it. Staff- to be kind, Amber is not an asset to this to this hotel. When I pay $375 per nite for a hotel is it unreasonable to expect: Wifi? Not in the condos Soap? A bar or two would be nice to wash out hands with? Hot water heater- this one is the most egregious. Stayed here as a wedding guest; the upcharging policies and unhelpful staff were a very big downer. We almost missed the shuttle bus to the wedding ceremony because the hotel told us it would be against fire code for three adults to share the room we booked. Here is a description of the room they would not let us stay in from the hotel website: "You will find this room accommodates a family of four nicely." WTF? They basically extorted us into booking a more expensive jacuzzi suite once we arrived. When we asked to talk to the manager about the forced upgrade, we were told that we should have read the fine print of our reservation confirmation. Also, for a pretty upscale hotel, the lobby and public areas sure do smell mighty musty. Kind of like the bowling alley in the town I grew up in. The hotel itself was quiet, and if I'd wanted an entire kitchen and dining room for my 19-hour stay, I suppose I would have been very happy with the room. read more

As someone who has worked both in the service-based industry and the HR field, I can really appreciate good personnel. The Kaatskill Mountain Club has a great staff. They are friendly, professional, and welcoming. Coming up from NYC it is about a 3-hour drive. Arriving through a wintry mix, hypnotizing snow, and up a dark mountain; we got to the Kaatskill mountain club at around midnight. We pulled up at the main entrance unloaded our things onto a bell cart. While unloading I noted that we were not alone in bringing beers as others that checked in also brought their cases. The 2 bedrooms at $245/night was a large living room with a Murphy bed, and a large separate room with a queen and balcony access. 2 bathrooms with 2 showers. We had 4 people but you could probably fit 6 comfortably with 2 per each bed and one on each couch. The kitchen is a full kitchen with pyrex bowls in various sizes, steel pans and pots. You are provided with plates and flatware for 4. Dish soap is provided as small bottles of palmolive - No sponge though so make sure if you're staying to bring your own. The room did come with a dishwasher. Typical hotel bathroom amenities with towels, bath soap, shampoo, etc. Our room faced the mountain and I noted that inside we could not hear the snow machines working at night. With no night skiing at hunter you also do not have to worry about the noise of the lifts or lights. Tons of stars in the Hunter Mtn. night sky. NB: Despite solid exterior noise cancellation, the sounds of heavy stepping (perhaps ski/board boots) on the floor above can be heard. In the morning we woke and were able to buy lift tickets and ski rentals at the front desk. The front desk was friendly and helpful. There was a shuttle to take us the short trip to rental pick-up/base of the mountain which is a walkable distance away (about 10 minutes on foot). There are two outdoor hot tubs facing the slopes and a heated pool where you can swim into the locker rooms. Don't worry as from the mountain you don't have a good line of sight to the swimming area. The hot tubs also do kick up quite a fog as the heat of the tub vs the cold of the outside creates some steam. The bottom of one of the hot tubs does have grooved metal gratings so be careful on your step in. Also, the tubs are of different temperature - one mild, one hot (not sure if they were just that setting for that evening or if it is permanent). Nice way to relax post-ride/ski. As others have noted, there is a small gym on the way to the tubs but nothing substantive - I can't speak to the condition of the equipment as I did not try it. There is also a small shop which sells bathing suits and other equipment. - I believe both men and women's suits are around $40, so reasonable. Check out is at 11. Which you will be reminded about with a polite call from the front desk asking whether or not you need a bell car. If you're going to Hunter to ski/ride, Kaatskill Mountain Club is a great option for lodging. PS. price breakdown following tax/charges is around 135/person on the two bedroom between 4 people for two nights. meaning about 67/night per person. definitely reasonable. Absolutely horrible place! No room service. Sold us frozen pizzas from the front desk only to go back to the room and learn there are no microwaves. Back down to front desk and get nothing but a stupid look from the immigrant behind the counter. They have no microwave in the lobby either. Would have been useful information. Hotel is way too hot! Elevator is agonizingly slow and the parking lot is about 50 feet lower than the front door so bring a sherpa and supplemental oxygen if you plan on making an ascent! Made a reservation months in advance for an entire weekend, Friday- Monday and specifically asked for and was promised a fridge, but was given a room without. After explaining this to the front desk, Andrew told me that there was nothing he could do about it and offered nothing but an apology for the inconvenience. He should Not work in hospitality, because I do not believe he understands what the definition of the word is, or how to do his job properly. If I wasn't here for a wedding, I would leave.... I came here with a group and a manager was so rude to us, cancelled tubing when it was scheduled, wouldn't light a fire pit, and then told us not to come back. No one knew how to apply discounts to group rate lift tickets charged people different amounts. The customer service sucks, higher up managers are rude, unhelpful, and condescending. Loved it! I used to come ski at Hunter with my family as a kid, this was my 1st time staying at the kaatskill mountain club and it was wonderful. Staff is accommodating, rooms are clean and the food on site is pretty good too. We stayed in the liftside condo and were blown away at the amenities. There's a large closet and coat hangers in the foyer and some nice large mats to lay your snow shoes too. HUGE kitchen stocked with pots, pans, utensils for cooking, dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave, coffee pot (2 free coffee packets included), island table, dinning room table, large living room with 2 couches (1 pulled out into a bed), tv, fireplace and balcony all in living room as well. 1 bathroom on the 1st floor (this bathroom had a washer and dryer too) and another on the 2nd (this one had a full shower & jacuzzi bath). The 2nd floor had a large room with a futon connecting the bathroom to the bedroom. Lots of dresser space and spacious closets in the bedroom, plus another tv. The only down side is that house keeping didn't come once while we were there. I believe you may have to request this service, but it wasn't clear. We only stayed 2 nights so it wasn't really needed. If we stayed longer it would have been nice to have though. Overall I would definitely stay here again! Highly recommended. read more

I visited in the summer. The rooms are nice enough, but the staff at the front desk was very rude. They seemed to be overwhelmed by all the guests checking in, and the manager kept stopping what she was doing (helping me check in) to try to help other agents. This was my third time staying here - second time post-Covid. I love the location but wish I could say the same about the lodging. In terms of cleanliness, the rooms were just ok. There was a shirt left in one of the closets so the housekeeping staff was not too thorough when the place was cleaned for new visitors. Also, the tissue boxes in each bathroom were almost empty (literally only a few left) and there were no replacements in the room - same with toilet paper. We stayed here over a weekend and went downstairs for breakfast only to discover that the restaurant didn't open until 4pm. 4pm!! Not sure who was behind this ridiculous decision but it was a very poor one - especially since there's a breakfast menu posted near the elevator. Even last year when things began to open up again (post-Covid), the restaurant was open for breakfast. Also, when in the restaurant/bar, you're unable to charge anything to the room. Everything has to be done with a credit card or Apple Pay. This was interesting considering you have to give a credit card for incidentals when checking in. I'm curious what those "incidentals" are considering there's no mini bar or additional things for purchase in the room. In the past, the staff was very welcoming. This time, it appeared they couldn't be bothered. They were cordial but any sort of person touch was missing. I hope these issues are resolved as lodging in the area can be somewhat limited. It's a great location and has great potential but, this year, it was very disappointing. read more

What a lovely resort with ski on and off the mountain access! We got a three room suite, which has a lovely kitchen and fireplace. It was very roomy and well stocked. Though they could have left more dishwasher tablets. The staff was very friendly. I had a truck back into my car on their property, and they were very accommodating. They let me leave my car in their parking lot (it was not safely drive-able) until the adjuster could come. During our stay, some other guest on our floor had left the window open, which caused a burst pipe. While they had to turn off the water briefly, within a few hours, everything was put back together. read more

Highly Disappointed. I booked a room in the late winter, before COVID pandemic in preparation for a wedding. The Bride blocked the rooms and set up a bridal party discount for those involved. I was told via phone when the room was booked that my price would be $319 total including tax, fees, and discount. I was also told a confirmation email would be sent to which I never received after providing my information. It was to my very much surprise upon checking in on Friday August 28th that the price increased to $399. I briefly inquired and was told there was a fault with the operating system and a mistake had occurred when I booked this spring. Upset but understanding these are trying times for everyone, I paid without further hesitation. Later that evening while talking to the other two bridesmaids and husbands, it was brought to my attention that for the same exact room and services one couple was charged $309 and the other $319. We were concerned that 1) the prices were all different to begin with and 2) I had booked long before the other two couples and for the same exact room was charged significantly more. Fast forward to check out Sunday morning August 30th approx. 9am, I kindly brought to the receptionist's attention this error and asked to be refunded to the equivalent price of the others with the same room and length of time in the bridal party. Another employee emerged from the back and was extraordinarily rude, saying the other couples were charged incorrectly and refused to correct the extra charged fees on my card. I kindly explained I understand if there was an error, but that not only was the price I was given in February not honored but the switch in the operating system was not at my fault either. The receptionists tone and volume of voice increased further to a level of inappropriateness as she explained she will "absolutely not" be fixing this error on the hotels end. It should also be noted there is no fridge or safe in the room and very little blankets supplied on the beds. In all, I am very much understanding that these are difficult times for everyone through the pandemic. But there is something to be said for decent/respectful customer service, addressing errors of the hotel's fault and ensuring any issues were resolved. None of this occurred at the Kaatskill Mountain Club the weekend of August 28th through August 30th. If ever forced to stay at this facility, be sure to get all correspondence in writing and/or record your interactions with the receptionists. I will be sure to never recommend this as a lodging location. read more

Myself and 3 friends stayed at kaatskill country club in June 2014, we were there for the taste of country music festival. We had the most wonderful time, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was gorgeous, we had a full kitchen with pots, pans, as well as a coffee pod machine to make individual cups of coffee. There was two pull out couches as well as a queen size bed so we could of easily fit more people. Our view of the mountain was great, were going to book again for this summer! read more

Stayed here for the Christmas weekend and the staff was anything but jolly. Leaky faucet, wet belonging, hour of in your room plumber crack and a left behind hanging shirt that management "can't locate" makes this anything but a charming destination for $275 a night. And for $80 lift tickets you would think Hunter can afford to make enough snow. read more

Just stayed here for the 2nd time and it was so great. Super nice, helpful and professional staff - including the wait staff in Van WInkle's. Specifically, Tammy, Frances and Britney and the hostess/manager (whose name we didn't get). There's so much there even when you're not skiing to keep everyone happy. The arcade game room, swimming in the heated outdoor pool and hot tub, workout room, spa, huge common room off the lobby with fireplace. It's a very cozy comfortable place to stay on a ski vacation. There's a shuttle to the mountain and you're right next to the sledding/tubing hill. There was a problem with our room when we checked in and the manager quickly found us a new room of the same type to switch us into. We were very grateful. It's not 5 star luxury but if you're looking for a nice place to stay with your family I can't recommend this place highly enough. read more

Our first experience to hotel was awful being greeted by the most rude, gruff and condescending person I have ever seen at a front desk. she was down right rude, she greeted us by say Yes?, then demanded id and credit card. She thumped sign in sheet and said sign here. Not pleasant experience at all. She also talked down to us explaining long list of rules of the pool and facilities. i felt like I was being reviewed for boot camp. the kicker was that she was training someone else as well. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The walls however were very thin and you could hear conversations from rooms on both sides. The pool was nice and the highlight to the stay, however avoid hot tubs as both had floating scum in them and not cleaned in a while. The restaurant was nice but I think the hostess was related to front desk clerk as we seemed to have interrupter her. The waitress however made up for it as being very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was nearly empty but the hostess went to seat a family with young kids next to us, thankfully the waitress stepped in and moved them. Both parties were relieved. The food was very good and reasonable. I would not stay here again due to the front desk greeting and the sound quality. the are better choices and this is NO high end resort it advertises. read more

Do not stay here the staff is the unfriendliest staff ever and the facilities seem like they were last updated in '98. The suites which are absurdly expensive have 27" tv's that are 20 feet away from the bed so you can't see it, and the mattresses are old and crappy. I'll never stay here again. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend. Never again! We have traveled all over NY and tried a lot of different hotels. This was by far the worst ever. They don't know the meaning of customer service. The rooms are not very well appointed. We had a suite. There were some dishes but no fridge or microwave. The manager was extremely rude when we found errors on our bill. We were back in the area the following weekend and had a very nice stay at the Marriott in Kingston. Don't pay the money for the Katskill Mountain Club. read more
