This tiny drive-up motel is a genuine throwback to an earlier, simpler age, but with enough updates to please the modern traveller. The suites are fresh and clean, the beds are exceedingly comfortable, the kitchenette is basic but cheery, the bathroom spotless and bright. Not everything is perfect, but this really only adds to the charm. The proprietors clearly love their facility and want to impart some of this to you! My favorite amenities were the luxurious lanai in the back yard, the grill (one for each suite!), the blue and green lighting, and of course the location in the heart of the Catskills. If you want a five-star, starched, concrete-and-glass experience, this is not for you. But if you desire a place not just to lay your head but to get a taste of the easy, homegrown pace of life in the Catskills, you have found it.

There were four of us in the car coming for dinner, and I believe we exclaimed collectively: wow. First impression did not disappoint. It was a freezing evening and we hurried inside. Another 'wow'. The check in area for the hotel is like an office space in any Mid-Century Modern fanatic's home - or, they wish it was. Just terrific. We were seated by the large windows overlooking the grounds. I could not get enough of the clean, purposely unfinished blonde wood, big windows, yet the amazing cozy feeling you got inside from the couches and other decor. Not only can you come for a dinner but plant your butt for the day with a book or computer and just start with a tea, work your way to coffee, and at noon just go for the cocktails. Nothing wrong with that. Like I said, there were four of us and it seemed we ordered one of each items on the menu - a total of 9 dishes. Everything came superbly finished and seasoned - no objections or comments from anyone other than praise. We split 2 desserts, and we had 6 drinks to the table. The maple squash was particularly finger-licking-delicious, as was the beet salad. At the end of our meal we had the pleasure to meet one of the co-owners of the establishment, Bjorn. Super nice guy who told us the story of the beginnings and how the place came about. We left full, happy, and couldn't stop talking about the resort all the way home. The bill, with tip, came out to be $400. I will definitely come back and I can't wait what else will be added to the Dandelion menu.

Eastwind Oliverea Valley - Beautiful Setting, But Not Worth the Price…read more Overall: 2.5/5 Eastwind Oliverea Valley has a beautiful natural setting, attractive rooms, and some nice amenities, but at $500-$600 a night, the experience fell short of expectations. There were definitely some highlights, but also enough disappointments that I'm not sure we'd return. Parking: 3/5 Arriving was confusing. Many people, including us, turned left and ended up at a dead end before having to turn around and head right into the parking lot. There are lots of trees to navigate around, which makes parking a little tricky. They do have a ChargePoint charger and a Tesla destination charger, which is a nice perk for EV owners. Rooms: 1/5 The rooms are attractive, both inside and out, but the construction feels cheaply done. We stayed in a king room with a loft, with neighbors on both sides and six rooms behind us. The property is tucked away from the main road in such a peaceful, beautiful setting, so I expected a quiet, relaxing stay. Unfortunately, we could hear people stomping around and talking, and some guests left their dogs unattended in their rooms, resulting in barking. The noise was particularly disappointing given how serene the surroundings are. For $500-$600 a night, I expected much better soundproofing, privacy, and overall comfort. Restaurant: 4/5 The on-site restaurant was a highlight. The menu is small, but the food was delicious, and they accommodated us as vegans. It was great to have a good dining option right on the property. Cocktails: 2/5 Unfortunately, the cocktails were disappointing and didn't live up to the food. Amenities: 4/5 The heated pool and sauna options are nice perks. You can reserve a private hour in either the infrared sauna or the heated sauna. We enjoyed having the option to relax in a private sauna, which was a nice touch. Location: 2/5 The property is close to hiking at The Ledge, which is a plus for outdoor enthusiasts. However, getting to the breweries and nicer restaurants in Woodstock takes roughly 39-40 minutes by car, so keep that in mind if you plan to explore the area. Connectivity: 3/5 There is no cell service in the area, so be prepared to disconnect. Fortunately, the Wi-Fi worked well throughout the property, including the grounds. Staff & Service: 3/5 The staff were super friendly, but it could sometimes be difficult to find someone since they were often out around the grounds. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, but having staff readily available wasn't always easy. Price / Value: 2/5 At $500-$600 a night, I found the experience overpriced. I'd feel much better about the value closer to $350 a night. For the price, I expected better construction quality, soundproofing, and an overall more comfortable stay. Final Thoughts Eastwind has a lot of potential. The peaceful setting tucked away from the main road, attractive rooms, good restaurant, and enjoyable amenities are all appealing. Unfortunately, the noise from neighboring rooms completely contradicted the tranquil atmosphere the property seems to promise. If we were to return, we'd want to book a full cabin rather than a room in a shared building, hoping for more privacy and a quieter stay. However, with rates of $500-$600 a night, I'm still not sure the experience would justify the price. I'm glad we tried it, but we'd have to think carefully before booking again.

We each had an old fashioned, which were excellently made by the very friendly bartender. The bar area was small and intimate with small side areas with high top tables, couches and armchairs. We could have happily spent all night in this area. He was so friendly and made us feel right at home (including sharing his chill af pupper with us as we worked). My room was gorgeous, with two bedrooms and a full kitchen space, plus a balcony where I could enjoy my morning coffee while taking in the chilly mountain air. The food was absolutely delicious, easily some of the best we've had on work trips, and they were great about accommodating different diets. The property has so much to offer: fire pits, tennis courts, walking trails, old-school arcade games, and a cozy tavern area that's perfect for unwinding. Did I mention their WiFi is fast too? Though this trip was for work, I'm already planning to come back with my partner someday to enjoy it all over again. Highly recommend!
