The Roxbury is an amazing place that is an absolute must to stay at . Each room is amazingly detailed and the grounds are just magical! From hiking to using the pool or the sauna or sitting out on the lawn and relaxing this little spot is an absolute must experience!

No service, who care?! I had the best time at The Roxbury this past weekend with my friends for one of their 30th birthdays! We stayed in the Genie's Bottle and it was an unbelievably cool experience. I've never seen such cool wallpaper and such attention to detail, everything was perfect down to the sink faucets which were genie lamps! The entire room was so clean from the bathroom to the kitchen to the living and sleeping spaces. There were tons of towels and robes so everyone was comfortable the whole time. Access to DVDs was fun too, we watched an old rom com and had the best time! We also utilized the Steam Room on-site and that was such a fun time too, it was very clean and private in there. All of the bathing amenities were incredible, the tub and shower in the room included. I can't wait to come back here in the summer time to experience what Roxbury has to offer in terms of nature hikes, but for a snowy weekend, this was exactly what the doctor ordered! Thank you!

I had been eager to visit The Roxbury since I had first learned about its funky rooms. From there, it took a bit of research to understand the structure of the hotel, its various policies, and the rooms available, but, boy, was it worth it! (Since there is a lot to cover, I am going to break the review into sections.) Hotel Building Overview: There are 2 main areas: 1.) Stratton Falls, which has a mansion that includes the office, common area, and rooms, as well as several freestanding cabins, and 2.) The Motel, which has mostly rooms and suites. These properties are 2.2 miles apart. Stratton Falls offers a pool, the actual falls to hike, and a hot tub and sauna. The Motel is right next to downtown, with an easy walk to restaurants and bars. It also has a hot tub, sauna, and relaxation area. Our Room: We were booking last minute, so we were limited in our options. We wound up selecting The Ghost and Mrs. Hicks room in the Mansion, which was supposedly one of the "smaller rooms", but was actually a great size. The bathroom had a large tub with arm rests and 10-foot ceilings. There was a queen-size bed, a flat-screen TV, and a "refreshment station" with a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. The room had pretty, elegant décor, but creepy wallpaper. The carpeting was super plush and a delight on which to walk. I found the bed a bit lumpy, however. I would stay in this room again, but would prefer to experience one of the more ornate options next time. Cleanliness: This was BY FAR the cleanest hotel I had ever stayed at! There were shoe trays in the hallways and bins in the closet, so that they could preserve the quality carpeting. The hairdryer and remote control had been disinfected and wrapped in plastic. There was not even a single hair in the bathroom. Basically, everything was immaculate and felt safe to touch. Food: There were no restaurants at either property, but there were snacks in The Mansion's kitchen throughout the day, which included fresh fruit, Tootsie Roll Pops, Fire Ball and Starburst candies, chocolate chip cookies, coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and lemon-infused water. There was also a 24-hour canteen with a variety of snacks and beverages, including bags of microwaveable popcorn. Lastly, breakfast was included daily. It was not extravagant, but each person in the room was able to choose up to 4 menu items, which could all be picked up at the morning time of their choice. Food options included yogurts, pastries, cereals, oatmeal, and more. As others mentioned, the coffee cake was fluffy, tender, and worth ordering. Drinks: There was no bar open at the time, as they were still taking COVID precautions, but you could order a mixed drink at the pool or various canned alcohol beverages there or at the front desk. Additional Amenities: The falls were beautiful and could be seen by climbing a few steps at most. You could take a hike if you wanted, but it was not needed to see the falls. The hot tub, sauna, and pool times needed to be reserved in advance, which seemed annoying at first, but actually ensured that each guest had space to enjoy the facilities. The Mansion had a patio and other indoor and outdoor seating areas, some of which offered exposure to a fireplace or fire pit. There was also cornhole out on the lawn. Final Assessment: The Roxbury provided such an unique, creative experience that was really top-notch. It is a must-visit!!

This was a last minute trip to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary and we were NOT disappointed. From the first communication to inquire about the room I wanted until checking out. We arrived to the most beautiful and impressive office to check-in and Juan greeted us with such warmth. He went out of his way to try to book us a spot for the sauna and getting our breakfast order. The motel itself is AMAZING! I mean the attention to detail is so impressive and our room was beyond what I expected. I booked Tony's Dance Floor to commemorate our meeting in a dance club and hubby was blown away. I was so excited by every part of the room especially the Disco ball that actually spun...the decor is gorgeous. Checkout was just as wonderful with a very nice woman, and I can't recall her name but we had such great conversation and she was so attentive! We are looking forward to staying in their Stratton Falls location on our next getaway

As far as domestic hotels go, The Roxbury exceeded all expectations. And considering my tasteful friend, Fenny, had already raved about this place, those expectations were flying high. Details like shoe trays in the hallway to protect their carpets (yaaaas, sustainability) and a self-serve honor bar (side-eye to J for caving into peanut M&Ms) are just gravy on top of the already spectacular digs. And by "spectacular" I mean all of the many varied definitions: - Of the nature of a spectacle; impressive or sensational. - Of or pertaining to a shows; of the nature of a show. - Adapted to excite wonder and admiration by a display of pomp or of scenic effects - Amazing or worthy of special notice - a lavishly produced performance We spent a wintry long weekend in The Beautiful Blacksmith room and it featured a free-standing claw-foot bathtub in the main room, a sumptuous king bed, his and his dual sinks, a generously stocked mini-fridge with absurdly reasonably priced adult beverages, and a full-blown gas fireplace under the flatscreen TV. Our plan was to explore the Catskills and do some real estate scouting but once we laid eyes on our room, we nearly didn't want to leave! We also took great advantage of our $20 pass to the Crooked Cabana and its spa facilities. Although the premise offers both a hot tub and wood-paneled sauna (and, I think, massage service outside of COVID times), we used both of our 45-minute sessions to luxuriate in the sauna. The benefit of going during the tail end of a pandemic was having the entire facility to ourselves (except for the friendly attendant). The one feature of our stay that I was nonplussed by was their breakfast offerings. For all their other considerations, attention to detail, and friendly service, the breakfast selections were ho-hum at best. Frankly, the most reliable food items were the hard-boiled eggs and the single serving yogurts. I was ready to be wowed with interesting local baked goods and pastries, but our croissants and danishes could have been out of a Costco tray for all I could tell. Ultimately, the cost of breakfast was included with our stay, so I'm not knocking them for it. I've yet to encounter any other hotel, bed and breakfast, or AirBnB in the region that matches the panache of The Roxbury. Sure, you're paying a premium, but what they offer is truly an -experience- that's well worth the cost.

Wow !!' This has been on my bucket list for a while!! So happy we finally got here!!! What an amazing experience!! We came for my husband birthday in October. Nice time to come and enjoy the beautiful fall foilage! It was fully booked on the weekends but we were lucky to get a room on Friday night. We had room 12 Fred's Liar. I love it! Looks like in are in a cave! I was pretty blown away how unique and magical this hotel is. It's like being in a fairy tale world!! We headed over to the Crooked Cabana were the hearted pool was. It was so beautiful!'n we had it all to ourselves. We met the bartender and he made fantastic drinks. Let's not forget about the robes in your room. When you put it on it's so soft and luxurious!! They even give you slippers. Everything is so well thought out!! We got to check out the Cinderella room. Incredible!! So creative! I've never seen anything like this. It is just unforgettable and I want to come back every year and stay in different room each time. Don't forget to go over to Stratton Falls. We didn't get much rain but still a beautiful spot. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!! Which room will we stay in next??

STRATTON FALLS -- O-M-G! Yelp needs an "off the charts" rating because anyone that doesn't give this place 5 stars clearly stood at the roach motel in town and NOT at this location because this place is simply magical! Anything less than 5 stars simply means (1) you're a miserable human and the joy at this place couldn't dent your angry armor or (2) you simply didn't get laid during your visit and I'd be pretty pissed too to spend so much money to go home with blue balls & cold shower! Haha!! I had the honor to stay at the newly built (relatively new) Stratton Falls location and it is the original Roxbury but on crack! LOL! I honestly can't put words to paper how magical this second location is. If I thought the first location was heaven then the Stratton Falls location would be the internal chambers of heaven, God's very own bedroom! This property is so enchanted that even the guests are enchanted with kindness because everyone that visits is so welcoming to show off their rooms. At every turn it was "I'll show you mine if you show me yours!" The rooms are so magical that guests can't help but want to show them off to other guests and share the magical experience. Who invites strangers into their rooms while on vacation? Nobody does but this place is just so magical it puts everyone in such a euphoric and happy state of mind. It's pure peace and joy when you visit no matter what time of year. Pictures don't do any of these rooms justice because I've seen them countless times online imagining what one would look like in "real life" so when I walked into the Crown of Pendragon my breath was simply taken away! I almost cried at how beautiful the place was. Seriously if heaven is anything like what Greg & Joe have built here on earth then I want the Crown of Pendragon room in heaven...I call dibs! Even the small water falls trail is beautiful with small benches along the trails so you can simply sit and take it all in. If you are considering this place, you have to visit at least once in your lifetime because you owe it to yourself to feel the joy, peace and magic that customers feel when they are at The Roxbury. I think Greg & Joe really are angels on earth and they are giving us all a taste of heaven on earth. Thank you Roxbury staff for an amazing visit!!!

The Roxbury absolutely deserves this review! It's a real hidden gem in the midst of all this natural beauty - surrounded by trees, mountains, rivers, and waterfalls. This place is like a modernized theme park for those who appreciate the extraordinary. Now, if you're expecting a typical 5-star Marriott in the middle of nowhere, this might not be your cup of tea. The Roxbury is more like a unique cabin retreat with themed, modernized cottages and even a mansion with rooms that follow the same themes. Everything here is well thought out, and it's clear they go the extra mile. We stayed in the "Ghost and Mrs. Hicks" room, which was a bit on the creepy side, but that's the whole theme. It's a cozy space, perfect for two (unless you need a king-sized bed). The room has all the essentials - a TV, comfy carpeted floors, stylish decor, and a generously sized, plush bed with warm blankets. Now, a heads up, the attention to detail is impressive, but the sliding bathroom door was a bit tricky to close. If you're not sharing the room with someone you're super comfortable with, you might want to opt for a different room. But hey, we managed to figure it out, although it took a few tries. The bathroom itself was great, with a deep and wide shower tub, warm water, and a little heater that made those chilly floors much more bearable. (also the shower robes were divine! I recommend buying them ) The Roxbury really excels in the small details, and it makes your stay all the more enjoyable, especially since it's quite remote (we drove for 3 hours to get here!). Beyond that, the property is just stunning. They even gave us directions to Stratton Falls, a gorgeous waterfall spot with incredible views and well-maintained paths for safe exploration. I highly recommend taking a walk there and snapping a few pictures. It's absolutely beautiful and peaceful, and I can only imagine how different it looks throughout the seasons. Being surrounded by nature like this is such a mood lifter. To sum it up, The Roxbury is immaculately maintained, thoughtfully designed, and exceptionally clean. It's a warm, cozy, and comfortable place where you'll instantly feel at home. Plus, it's super quiet - I think they've got thick walls and considerate guests to thank for that. It's an excellent choice for a weekend getaway or even a longer trip. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

My husband came here for a relaxing night away for our anniversary and this was by far the most relaxing trip we have ever taken! Because of covid, the steam room area and hot tub area have to be reserved ahead of time, but because of this, your party gets to be the only party enjoying the amenity at the time of the reservation! The outside area is also super cute, with lots of areas to sit. Also, all of the restaurants are within a five minute walk from the hotel. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay, this is it!

If OCD manifests as relentless attention to detail aimed at pleasing guests' every whim, I'll take Roxbury owners' (Greg and Joe) version of that "disorder" anytime! The Roxbury Experience is divided into two properties: The Roxbury Motel, which is the original 28-room property located near the main road, and the newer Roxbury at Stratton Falls comprised of eight cottages and seven rooms housed in a historic mansion. Both properties share a small but delightful pool, as well as a hot tub and spa. As city slickers we were a bit apprehensive driving into the tiny town of Roxbury (no traffic light, no Verizon cell service). However we were immediately wowed by the fantastical white, black and lime green cottages and caring staff awaiting us at Stratton Falls, so our worries morphed into delight very quickly. Each Roxbury room and cottage is meticulously designed with a different theme, ranging from Cinderella (replete with pumpkin bathroom) to Dracula's Fang. After perusing the Roxbury website we chose to stay at the Pendragon cottage. The Pendragon boasted stone walls, dragon décor, a king size bed draped in metal mail (chains) and a two story tub room with round vaulted ceiling illuminated by a wrought iron tiered flickering chandelier. Just wow. But one does not languish with medieval technology at the Roxbury; no, this immaculate lair (and all others) is equipped with Netflix-loaded large screen TVs (including one in the rub room!), super soft bedding, robes and toilet paper, spacious fridge, microwave, excellent wi-fi and a landline with free local calling. Air conditioning zones in every room with quiet efficient units are artfully hidden behind electronic artwork. The Roxbury staff was very friendly and welcoming, and owners Greg and Joe were always on site to chat with guests and make sure everything was running smoothly. We were lucky enough to be there for Roxbury's official ribbon cutting ceremony where we heard some of the back story behind this amazing accomplishment by Greg and Joe. These being COVID times, daily maid service and spa treatments are on hold, and guests must prebook pool time online. Continental breakfast is picked up in bags in the lobby, or delivered upon request. We did not go hungry and pool time was usually available. We understood the logic of these health-related constraints, aimed at protecting guests and staff alike. Caveat: Cottages and rooms book out quickly so get online and book your chosen accommodations quickly if you want to go. I already booked Dracula's Fang for next year, can't wait to return. Thanks so much for the magical birthday experience!

Second time here first was the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in and old owners were super friendly. This was okay but Mary Anne's cream pie room is already on the decline... only 2 pillow whips left it looks like a comforters have changed. It's hard not to be a little disappointed when you know exactly how the room should look due to the pictures. Hope the new owners stay on top of this.

The best...end of story. I've stayed in 4/5 star hotels all over the country, and the Roxbury takes the cake! We were delayed past check-in time, and the staff didn't let it interfere with our stay. Communications from the staff were personal, pleasant & professional -- something I find many hotels lack. No detail of the room theming is overlooked. ...and the cleanliness -- every hotel should aspire to this standard: no dust, no stains, no fingerprints. The bathroom was immaculate. Who can't love an over-bed disco ball? We're already making plans to return for a longer stay!

Oh it's magical. We stayed in the Faerie Forest- the attention to detail and cleanliness surpasses even DISNEY! Love the colors scheme. They have certainly taken all precautions for COViD protocol. I'm all honesty-downside is there is nothing to eat around there. What is highly recommended is Chappie's in town and it was a 1 star experience for us. Knowing that- I would come better prepared as there are refrigerators and microwaves in the room. They do have a snack shack... Wish I had booked for when the pool was open. Will be back again.

The gown was HUGE and impressive!
