It's pet-friendly (huge plus!), and everyone was incredibly kind to my dog--he had the best time exploring the hiking trails with me. The vibe is very relaxed, peaceful, and the perfect place to disconnect from the world. Now for the real star of the show: the food. We did the tasting menu and it was so good. I loved the intention behind each dish and how they highlighted seasonal ingredients and the local farm sources. My personal favorites were the mushroom dish and the venison--both were phenomenal. The staff was warm, attentive, and did a great job walking us through each course. A few small observations: The dining room was a little too dark--I love seeing my food, especially when it's so beautifully presented. Since it was my birthday, I expected a bit more than a lone candle. No cookie, treat, or even a candle placed on top of dessert--it just didn't feel special. Dessert wasn't for me. It was somewhere between a milkshake and ice cream, but with a strange mochi-like texture and an overpowering amount of lavender. It felt like eating soap. The quail course tasted amazing, but the presentation wasn't appealing. It looked a bit messy, and leaving the head on (even though it wasn't edible) felt off. That said, everything was incredible--thoughtfully crafted, delicious, and visually stunning. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and the whole experience. Highly recommend--can't wait to return!

I tried: + Cabbage + Ricotta toast + Grilled broccoli + Mangalista pork chop + Ricotta dumpling + Cheeseburger + Spiced cake The highlights were the cabbage, pork chop and burger. Overall, the food and drinks were good, and the restaurant itself was clean with a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, what should have been a pleasant lunch ended on a very disappointing note. When it came time to pay, our group split the check. Together, we left an 18% tip for our server, which we felt was fair for the service we received. As we were leaving, the server stopped us near the entrance--in front of other guests--and asked if something had been wrong because she didn't understand why we had left such a "poor tip." It was an uncomfortable and embarrassing interaction. We politely explained that the total tip was 18% and even walked through the math with her so she could see how we had calculated it. Instead of simply accepting the explanation, she told us that if we wanted, she could call the manager because they "don't welcome people who don't tip well." At that point, I responded that the comment was extremely rude and that we would not be returning. We haven't been back since. It actually took me quite a while to write this review. On another occasion, I mentioned this experience to the bartender at a nearby bar after she had recommended The Parish to me. She told me the same owner operates both businesses and said she would pass the feedback along. I don't know whether that conversation ever reached the owner, but it encouraged me to finally share my experience publicly. It's unfortunate because the food, drinks, and atmosphere were enjoyable. However, no customer should be confronted at the door or made to feel embarrassed over what was, in fact, an 18% tip. A single interaction can outweigh an otherwise good meal, and unfortunately, that's exactly what happened here.

It's a very comfortable space and not noisy, so we were able to talk. As a vegan, I rarely get a coherent meal at a restaurant. So this was a pleasant surprise. Two of our six ordered and enjoyed the vegan Autumn Bowl of lentils with root vegetables. We enjoyed the crispy artichokes. Well executed. The sauce was spicy and enjoyed. Our party enjoyed Willow Salmon, with fennel orange salad: delish!; Pan Seared Trout was enjoyed; The duck breast was enjoyed. We got a bottle of red wine and some cocktails. All good . I had a strawberry margarita . We all had a good meal and a good time. Considering that the restaurant was not full, we felt the service was Slow. All of the staff were very nice. Bathroom was clean. Parking lot under the facility is large and adequate. Especially nice in rain and cold. A note about the Autumn Bowl: It's priced at $34 (all inexpensive components: lentils, carrots, squash), while the Mirbeau Burger (8 Oz CAB expensive Beef with bun, cheese, onions, portobello mushrooms, bordelaise, field greens, and fries) is priced at only $28! Also, the vegan Gelato is $3 more expensive than the regular Gelato. Why? The pricing doesn't make sense, and I think it should be re-evaluated. I'm grateful & appreciative for the vegan options. It's not easy to find a coherent vegan meal in Rhinebeck and this is one of the best, in a very comfortable space. Helpful?

I'm going to break this review down into a few categories. This one is for the overall experience…read morewe had as a cousins getaway - our old girl tonight, adventure. Mohonk Mountain House is well known to my entire family because our family spent many summers in that region for many decades. We just simply didn't act as tourists until this week. The arrival experience is spectacular - a mile long entrance up the mountain through a meandering well paved road Goetz you too the option of the front of Mohonk or the valet reception toward the back. We were staying overnight so we chose the valet. The valets were wonderful - everyone was well trained and respectful of the vehicle and of our experience as vacationers. One of the standouts was Matt or Max goodness gracious I can't remember, but he was terrific. We had a similar experience with the staff at ballet on the way out as well, so I would say blanketly that you can't go wrong with any of the attendants. THE ATMOSPHERE at Mohonk is historic, a large like mansion that hearts back to the turn of the 19th century. This location is run by fifth generation of the Smiley family. They're doing a lot right. They have maintained the Rich wood tone decor, and at every turn, a peak of the magnificent outdoors that encompasses the resort. The woodwork alone is masterful. Windows are enormous and let in in abundance of natural light and setting THE GUEST ROOM: We were very lucky to have a guestroom facing the lake, where we could admire nature at its finest with fog rolling in in the morning and glistening mirror like finishes to the glacial lake. The room was well appointed for a retreat where television should not exist. If you want television, book somewhere else this place is all about nature and embracing it. You don't have to be a hiker, nor do you have to be Ann arborist. But you do have to value tranquility, and a setting that is typically only found in a postcard. We spent a fair amount of time, just sitting on our balcony with a cup of tea and the view. The only downside is that the carpets are in need of a very deep clean. There is a heavy musty smell that can only be removed through proper deep cleaning. This is not a housekeeping issue and given how busy the resort is especially in the summer, I'm sure it's painful to take rooms out of order in order to deep clean them. But unfortunately, it should be done. The furnishings are reproductions of a time gone by, but they could also use some Care and Cleaning, particularly the upholstered chairs. Housekeeping did a wonderful job. I would like to see them get under the beds. In order to do that, management needs to allow for significant time and have been in that business, it's a difficult decision. Your staff is loyal - our housekeeper was there 17 years so I hope they are well cared for and respected when they are doing their job. Staffing in general is top-notch. The training is excellent for acknowledgment of the guest and priority of those who have paid top dollar to enjoy the hotel and its amenities. And speaking of amenities: the lake, boats, paddle boats, canoes, kayaks are all for the asking. The docs are new and well maintained, and the staff, including Jen And Zoe could not have been more wonderful to us. We could not wait to get out and enjoy the lake. The breeze offset the heavy sun and heat. I suggest you make sure you wear proper sunblock and Donna hat because it's easy to get sunburnt here if you're not paying attention. But if you did forget your sunblock, all you need to is to take a pleasant walk past historic photographs to the Gift Shop, which is wall to wall Hudson Valley finds and practical items. Don't expect to get out of there with anything left in your pocket because there are many options from a simple six dollar magnet all the way up to a $300 item of clothing. The staff again in the Gift Shop were lovely. Beware, they do not take cash. No cash. I assume you can charge to your room, but the room was under my cousin's name so that was not an option. I literally had to pay for a US postal stamp by credit card. That's insanity. The food: picture this - a high-end cruise on land. You don't have to take out your wallet when you enter the dining room everything you see is included with the exception of alcoholic beverages. It's extremely freeing to not pay attention to the prices. That is not to say that the prices are low. They are not. You will expect to pay about $400 per person per day, but you will probably eat $200-$300 per day in delicious food. That is an exaggeration, but that's what it felt like See some of our photographs for just a few of the meals we enjoyed. One of my favorites was the breakfast eggs Benedict Station Ware Ranaldo make sure that the egg I requested as being soft came out perfectly.

The meals were served as a pre-fixe with starter, entrée, and dessert options. That evening, I started with the muhammara. It was flavorful and served with crispy fried pita. I personally prefer a bit more heat, but the texture and seasoning were spot on. For my entrée, I chose the seared chicken breast--tender and well-seasoned, though the portion was more than I could finish. Dessert was a standout: the mascarpone torta cake was light, creamy, and absolutely incredible. I'd give it 10 stars if I could! The second night, I tried the cauliflower bisque, and wow--it was rich, creamy, and delicious. Easily my favorite dish of the night. My entrée was the pumpkin fregola, which was fine but didn't quite match the wow factor of the soup. We ended our trip with breakfast at the restaurant, which is served buffet-style. The spread was generous, with tons of options for all kinds of tastes. It was a perfect way to wrap up a wonderful weekend. Highly recommend dining here if you're staying at Mohonk--or even making a reservation if you're visiting the area. Beautiful setting, friendly staff, and memorable meals.
