A rainy day, but beautiful outside
Robert C.

This is a very unusual bed and breakfast in a number of ways - all of which add to its appeal. First, it is small - only four rooms. So you have more privacy than with larger B&Bs, and more interaction with your hosts, Art and Corinne. As these are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, more time with them is a big bonus The grounds offer stunning views of the Gunks and the Mohunk Mountain Tower with a huge yard that rolls down into the valley. Turkey, deer and an assortment of birds, including a large hummingbird population bring nature almost to your feet. Second, they have a nice sized in-ground pool, which is a major summertime bonus after a day of hiking, biking, climbing, sky diving or whatever outdoor activity you prefer. The tens of thousands of undisturbed acres at Mohunk preserve, Minnewaska State Park and more are right outside the door Oh, and the hot tub is a great nightime spot for a drink and some star gazing too! Finally, the breakfast, prepared in a large guest-only kitchen, can be served on the patio (weather permitting) or at the kitchen table. And unlike many B&Bs, we're not talking cereal and muffins only. Yes, they have fresh baked bread and muffins every morning (and cereals too) but also some magnificent egg- based event - omelettes or specialty dish AND waffles or pancakes served with local syrup. Fresh fruits and juices top it all off. The kitchen offers guests an opportunity for coffee, tea, cookies and snacks anytime, and every afternoon cheese crackers and wine, with Art and Corinne as host and oracles. Lots to do at night in New Paltz, Gardiner and Woodstock and you can stick your leftovers in the guest only fridge. The rooms each offer a unique decor and all have a full private bath. Simply the best...

I've stayed at Mountain Meadows three times now, and each time it has continued to exceed my expectations! Maria and Joe are amazing hosts--and the breakfast they serve is truly out of this world! (Think: Pumpkin scones, farm-fresh eggs from the chickens in their backyard, and more!) The rooms at Mountain Meadows are newly renovated, spacious, and very comfortable. But the best part of the property is the amazing backyard, complete with stunning mountain views, gorgeous sunsets, a fire pit perfect for making s'mores, and a heated pool and hot tub! Maria and Joe have hiking passes for nearby Mohonk Preserve, and plenty of recommendations for exploring the quaint town of New Paltz, too! They have gone out of their way to make our stays truly great each time we've visited. We hope to return here many times in the future!

The property is quiet. Lots of parking. The historic cemetery at one end of the lot was really interesting. Typical Hampton breakfast (which is good!). Several hot and cold options to choose from. Bottomless coffee. I appreciated the fitness center and good sized pool. A hot tub would have been awesome but I did understand, going in, that wasn't an option and it's okay. I would definitely stay here again.

My hotel room was clean as was the bathroom. It was very cold so I had to turn off the air the entire time that I was staying in the room. They offer complementary breakfast so I was able to enjoy waffles, cheese omelette, scrambled eggs, seasoned potatoes, bacon, fruit, and yogurt over the course of my stay. They also serve fresh baked cookies in the afternoon, and have a small shop area where you can purchase snacks. The hotel is not far from two different grocery stores so if their small shop doesn't have what you need, you could walk or take a short drive to the local store to pick up whatever you may have forgotten for your trip. Because I was staying for work trip, my stay was tax exempt. At check-in, I provided the documentation, but at checkout, it came to my attention that it was never applied. The woman at the checkout counter was very professional about it, searched around and was able to find my documentation and apply the tax exemption before officially checking me out. I enjoyed my stay here, and I would reserve a room here again if I had to come back.

We were looking for an all inclusive to take my mom for a girls weekend and I just stumbled upon…read morethis place not knowing that it was insanely popular and also not aware that there was a mystery weekend. Once I booked it and asked around I realized that Mohonk has a huge following especially for the mystery weekend. I was excited to also learn that there was an Edward Gorey art exhibit! 2&1/2 hours from my house, not a bad drive! Check in time was at 4:00 but we got there early so they stored our luggage and said that they would deliver it to our room and call us when it was ready. We got a quick bite in the bar area which was not included in the weekend but we were starving! Then we looked around and went to a healing bowl meditation in the spa area. It was so relaxing, a great start to the weekend. They called us to come get our key and we went up to the room. It was Victorian looking with a balcony that had rocking chairs and 2 beds. Very pretty. The bathroom was big and had a walk in shower. It think it was a handicapped room. I didn't request one but when I called to make the reservation I inquired about how difficult it would be for a person to get around with a walker so perhaps they took the hint. The resort was massive!! And also beautiful to look at inside and out. It was also extremely clean with fresh flowers all over the place and little nooks to sit in to look outside and take in the views. The mystery weekend was so much fun. It was a play in 4 parts and by Sunday at 10 am you had to submit your guess as to "whodunnit". Just like a real life game of clue. There was also a thick packet of puzzles and games to try to solve by looking all over the hotel at the artwork to solve them. We ended up skipping that packet because we wanted a more relaxing experience. We did participate in the tabletop escape room which was really fun. We also skipped an afternoon tea on Saturday that let you interact with the characters and ask them questions to help try to solve the murder mystery. Instead we went to the spa for 2 different meditation classes. We repeated the sound bowl from the day before and also took another one which was part lecture and part meditation. I think we were supposed to choose between the mystery weekend and the regular stay which included the classes because there was so much to do besides participating in the mystery activities that we couldn't get to any other resort activities without skipping the mystery activities. We loved the mystery activities but decided that next time we would go for a relaxing spa type of stay. As far as the food, it was delicious and a lot of it! There was breakfast, brunch/lunch and dinner. We opted out of the breakfast and went to brunch both days which was a buffet with breakfast and lunch options. There were also stations to get freshly made food such as pasta, waffles, carving stations and a whole dessert area. The food was definitely upscale. For dinner it was a sit down with a waiter and a 3 course meal. The dinners took forever! First came the bread which was freshly baked and amazing, then we ordered the appetizer and the entire. The appetizers took a long time to come out but the entree took at least 45 min to arrive both nights. On Friday night we had to be at the first installment of the murder mystery play at 9:00 and our dinner came at 8:50! We took a few bites and had to leave. They were nice enough to tell us to stop back later to pick up our dessert to eat in the room. I enjoyed the brunch more than the dinners to be honest, the fish dish I had one night was extremely bland. Second night, same snafu but we did not have to be anywhere at 9pm so we stuck it out. If there were 1/2 stars this place would rate a 4&1/2 in my book. The 1/2 being taken because of the dinners and the price of the weekend. Now that I am on the mailing list, they are sending me some better deals and specials. I'll definitely be back to take advantage of those!

It's one of those rare spots where you can actually hear yourself relax while soaking in the beauty of nature. The meals? Sublime. I'm still thinking about them. The activities and staff? Absolutely fantastic. We did archery today, and Dylan, the director, made me feel like a slightly clumsy but very enthusiastic woodland hero. So much fun! And of course, the labyrinth rock scramble--with the iconic Fat Man's Misery and Lemon Squeeze--was an adventure I'll be bragging about until someone makes me stop. Truly a blast. All in all, it's worth every penny of the splurge. Cheers to everyone who treats themselves--you deserve it!

Our room 9 had the sweetest, all-around views from the multiple windows both in our corner room & in the bathroom of all the greenery, flowers & lawns. Although breakfast is no longer offered as part of the room rate, we were "grandfathered in" by the super amenable, welcoming head chef, who, in large part, is the engine behind the hotel's managing group, because our room had been booked when the breakfast plan was still in existence. Our breakfasts were presented beautifully & by servers who were super friendly & engaging, as is the rest of the staff here. The pool had not yet been filled for the summer, so we enjoyed sunning on the pool deck, the sweet sauna, walks to the lake down below the property, played shuffleboard, billiards in the way-downstairs which has stone walls, low ceilings, a wine closet, board games & game table, as well as darts. The first floor library is cozy, filled with couches, upholstered chairs, books, coloring books & colored pencils & the in-house restaurant offers 3 meals a day, either in the beautifully outfitted & sunny dining room or on the back patio, alongside a rain barrel, herb garden, smoke house, fire pit & the grassy lawns. The owners & the hotel's hospitality group are working on upgrading & updating the facilities & its offerings & we applaud them for their efforts & plans. We are glad that we could fully enjoy this welcoming, beautiful old stone home & its equally welcoming staff. AND, we thank the head chef for the bottle of Prosecco that he gifted us! P.S. I think I saw someone moving a rolling chicken coop from one part of the property to another!

Over the years we've stayed at a few nice hotels. Minnewaska Lodge is now at the top of my favorite places. Minnewaska Lodge is centrally located to all of our favorite spots. Driving our Tesla from Long Island, we stopped for lunch at our favorite diner, charged up at a Tesla supercharger station and pulled into the Lodge parking lot around 3pm. The view is just commanding. This large lodge with the mountains as a back drop is post card perfect. After we received our keys and stored our luggage, we went to a local farm stand for a bottle of local wine as well as local cheese and crackers. I tried to light a fire but each deck heater had issues. Sitting outside and just enjoying the natural beauty was worth the room price. Not only was the staff friendly, the guests were also very engaging. Almost chipper! We're playing cards in the main dining room while sipping on our local wine purchase and people were stopping by to talk to us. It really made our overall stay extra special. Our room was equally impressive. We had an outdoor deck that opened up to the same view as the main lodge. The bed was comfortable, the shower products were high end and the welcome note was a nice touch. Call in advance to check availability and make a reservation: it's a small place! The communal kitchen is big, and you can use the coffee, tea and oatmeal (anything else you have to bring yourself). The kitchen has an 11pm curfew, so they're trying to keep it quiet here (this is not a party hostel; alcohol, smoking and drugs are banned!). The wifi is good. Enter with a key from the back door and use a code to enter the room. Sone notes about room 3; which is where I take off one star. Theoretically the room sleeps four as long as two are willing to share a full size bed, and as long as one can vault up to a bunk bed (the ladder is broken). So at the moment it's really a three person room. You'd better be very comfortable using a bathroom around those folks, because the room entry is through the bathroom, so anyone going from hallway to room and vice versa passes through the bathroom. Okay. It's the only room set up that way. The shower is great, there's lots of light and fans, but the main reason im taking off a star is because the room clearly wasn't cleaned before check in. The sink had brown stuff on it, which was easy enough to clean, but not what I would expect to see. There were also literal sprigs of weeds and wildflowers on the floor, which I picked up and put it the trash, but when you see mess that's that obvious, it makes you wonder what kinds of less obvious uncleanliness might be there... and good thing they provide ear plugs, because the room next door had a piano (ie someone practicing piano, not just playing music on a speaker), a dog and a toddler!

Only negative is that the parking can be kind of tricky.
