The entire purpose for staying at a Bed & Breakfast is the experience. Any Inn or B&B, the owners open their establishment, makes you feel at home with a warm cup of coffee along with something freshly baked from their oven. When I checked in, I was told via text there is none of that because of the pandemic. We find that to be an excuse because we just left a B&B in Cold Spring that had everything! It's a bunch of nonsense, the owners could have baked and individually wrapped things. Just like the B&B in Cold Spring.... Oh wait, we were served a sit down breakfast. And coffee! What a concept. Check-in is at 3pm. I arrived at 1pm thinking I can get a few tips about the area. The door was locked so I rang the bell. I'm assuming its the owner who answered the door. I tell him I know I'm early, I'm looking for a few things to do locally. He said there is nothing here to show but I can send you a text? Ok.. The town of Rhinebeck is very cute, there are shops that are open while walking around. We had a glass of wine and some charcuterie while passing the time. Once it's 3pm, we were sent a text for the door code. Walking inside, The Gables Of Rhinebeck is a beautiful Bed & Breakfast. It also seems we are the only guests based on the parking lot out back. And the parking lot only has room for 3 cars? Our room is drop dead gorgeous. The bedding is adorned with a beautiful quilt. It's a suite so there is a nice sitting area. I walked downstairs to the empty parlor, grabbed two wine glasses and opened a bottle of wine that I brought from home. The bathroom, there was a lack of shelf space for our toiletries. Its a large space with a claw foot cast iron tub, very pretty. I had plans to sit outside after dinner and smoke a cigar. The lights weren't on, there is no one to ask and at that point, I really didn't care. I'm ready to leave and that is just a shame. It's not the feeling you want your guests to have when they leave. Do you agree? I asked about breakfast the next day in a text. Coffee? Oatmeal? Anything? Nothing I'm told in a text. The restaurant next door opens at 8am. Mention we're guests at The Gables Of Rhinebeck and well receive 20% off our bill. The restaurant at 8:50am was closed. At this point we jump in the car and leave. While I'm sitting down in another town, I text them saying the restaurant wasn't open at 8 or 8:30. They text back: OMG there is Bread Alone and so many other restaurants in the area that we could have chose. Overall, this was a sucky stay and I'm glad it was just for one night. They charged a premium price for the Bed but not the Breakfast?! And they weren't hospitable! Yeah OMG.

This was our first B&B experience.....and it was wonderful…read more The building is quaint and clean, filled with beautiful antiques. The B&B has 5 rooms, and only the first night it was full. We stayed in the Ivy room on the second floor and only heard the smallest bits of noise from other people coming in. The room was a touch small, but we had a queen bed and a love seat along with a large closet. The bathroom was spectacular, spacious with a Jacuzzi and lots of bubble bath! Breakfast is served at 8:30 am sharp, which I enjoyed, great initiative to get an early start on the day. We shared one large table with everyone and it created a great way to meet the others occupants and learn about things to do in the area. Yvonne is a great cook and each breakfast was delicious. The building has a nice parlor off the living room with lots of books and a TV. We spent an evening in there watching GOT. There is a wonderful font porch with several chairs. And then in the back a large patio. The B&B is a couple blocks from the main intersection of Rhinebeck on the way up to Red Hook. And lastly Yvonne is very knowledgeable of the area, if your looking for what to do she is a great source of ideas. One one minor critique is I wish the room had been a touch warmer.

Coming from Boston, I arrived to this beautiful Victorian with a huge lovely porch which is very tastefully decorated. The whole house is clean, smells amazing great decor, and Bel cooks one of the loveliest breakfasts. Omelette, coffee, juice, and granola/fruit/yogurt, turkey bacon. A++++ hostess! My room had a king poster board bed and one of the comfiest mattresses I've ever slept on. I can't say more good things about this place. But if you want a nice place to hang your hat, where you make a friend in the end Bels inn is where it's at. Excellent service, she's knowledgable about the town and places to go. It's the perfect getaway to de-stress and unwind meet amazing people and enjoy life, what was exactly what I needed. The prices are very reasonable and worth every penny! I'll be back very soon! Bed but no breakfast…read more We stayed in colonial Kingston for a conference and planned on staying for 3 nights, however we soon realized how terrible a host Bel, the innkeeper was. Upon arrival Bel assumed we drove to Kingston. I'm not sure why this assumption was made as there is a train station in the neighboring town which takes you directly to Manhattan. Rather than giving us the room we agreed upon via telephone, she put us in a creepy room not attached to the same building: actually it which was several blocks away from the main inn. Because we had no car, she squeezed us into her filthy pick-up truck and dropped us off and rushed out. No mention of what time and where breakfast was served. We were not provided any breakfast the morning after our first night's stay and she did not answer her phone around 7:00 a.m. when we wondered about this. This was confusing as the inn is marketed as a "Bed and Breakfast". We found our own breakfast and went on with our day. When we returned to our room in the evening, our room was not made. It was shocking as this is standard practice among the hotel industry regardless of whether you stay at a lower end BnB or at a high-end hotel. By then we were disgusted at how unprofessional she was and thus we told her we would only stay 2 nights (over 24 hours notice). By the second morning we called her inquiring about breakfast a second time. She simply replied by saying "well I can feed you if you want". How unprofessional and unwelcoming. Why run an inn if you do not want to welcome your guests? Although we gave her over 24 hours notice of our departure (again, the standard in the hotel industry) Bel still unjustly charged us for the third unused night. She also failed to give us our receipt, and we had to ask her 5 times for it. Only 3 days post-departure did we receive the receipt. After reviewing my banking, she had actually already charged the room prior to check-in. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

After staying at the church des artistes, I know where to refer people to stay. The building is beautiful and filled with character and charm. Make sure to reserve a room on the first floor if it's important to you that you have easy access to the bathroom. We stayed in the Library Room, which has its own en suite bathroom and a canopy bed with a beautiful lace curtain. The room was spotlessly clean. Right next door there is the "great hall" with a huge dinner table which would be great if you're looking to host a group - a fireplace, comfortable armchairs, and a chess set. The hosts were immediately available when we needed them but were not intrusive into our stay at all; it felt private, which is just what we were looking for. I didn't have a chance to try their breakfast but it sounded amazing. Another benefit of the library room is that the breakfast tea & coffee are placed right across the hall from your door in the morning! perfect for putting on one of the fluffy robes and grabbing a cup of coffee to bring back to the room. I accidentally left some personal items in the room. The hosts contacted ME to let me know they had found them and agreed to mail them to me!

If you are lucky enough to get one of the 2 bedrooms downstairs, no problem. My other complaint was the breakfast part of the B & B, there is none. Each room has a nice card stating coffee and tea served in the morning but on 2 of the 3 mornings nothing was available. During our 3 day stay, there was someone on the premises for about 30 minutes. Absolutely, NO STAFF. You could order a breakfast for a $15. charge but no one was there to order from...very disappointing.

Serene little spot in the Catskills of upstate New York. Perfect place to enjoy nature on the…read moretrails or on their surprisingly large lake. My girlfriend and I spent a few hours here on a Sunday afternoon in May. If you rent a boat you can keep it out as long as you want, and you have access to the whole property for the entire day. We spent awhile in kayaks and had the whole lake to ourselves for the entire time. We then spent some time down at the swimming hole and had that to ourselves as well. Everyone who works there was incredibly friendly and helpful. Beautiful day overall and the perfect end to a perfect weekend getaway.

The food was delicious, and our waiter, Phil, was so warm and accommodating. And it was fun to hear the history of the Inn and meet some of the patrons. I wanted to shower right away and we had no hot water. That was frustrating. They ended up moving us to another building (again on a hunt), in a king 2 bedroom suite. She boasted how much money that was and they weren't going to charge us. But we were glad to get a room w hot water. When we got there, honestly, I would never pay that much for that suite. The layout was kind of awkward, and just too big for us. Plus we had a hard time shutting the door. It's old but needs a better mechanism. We liked the first room better. The toilet was way too low on the ground. The bed as far as comfort was meh. The compliment breakfast was sub par. I've had better at a motel, one I recently stayed at too. The location is great though. Check out was ok, the person behind the desk didn't know how to smile. Maybe he was new but zero personality. We had dinner before arriving so I can't comment on their Tavern food. I think it would be nice to have someone give some info about the hotel when u get there.
