Great location in town. Park and walk to all. Really nice restaurants around. Bia was great. Le petit bistro looks good. We really liked cafe con leche a Puerto Rican spot. Also nice shops to roam in and out of. Samuels is a fun sweet shop. About the inn. Very welcomed by Ryan at the front desk. Informative and friendly. We stayed in room 22 a queen large room. Simply done and spacious. Nice bathroom. Nothing fancy just plain fine. A little decanted of sherry, plenty of towels and shampoo etc...comfy bed. When room is made up by the cleaning staff, it is done so well. All towels replaced, bed is made beautifully, shampoo replenished, coffee packs replenished. Room vacuumed. Great cleaning service. Only drawback is that you can hear everything in the lobby and outside the front door. Music from the bar too. Not loud but noticeable. Not a drawback but since the place is old it's super creaky. The floor boards are in rare form and we sounded like a herd of elephants. lol. Parking is great! Worth the stay.

    Beautiful patio area!

Went with friends who live in Rhinebeck for the Sunday brunch buffet and was impressed. The building itself was worth the visit steeped in well kept history. Options for seating varied between beautiful heavy oak rooms with high backed booths to bright, greenery laden seating in the glass encased patio. The buffet has bottomless help yourself champagne drinks with juices, fruit etc. there was an omelette station, salads, meats, waffles, eggs Benedict, and even a turkey carving station. The desserts were all ace (we tried almost everything) and service was quite attentive and friendly! All conveniently located in cute downtown area- parking was a breeze. All in all.. look forward to going back!

My partner wanted to treat me for my birthday, so we came here. This is an amazing colonial Tavern that has been here since 1766. It has a very nice atmosphere. The tavern room, the main restaurant, are nice, but we ate in the room with the fireplace. And we had the room all to ourselves. We each started with the soup of the day. It was delicious. For our main course, my partner had the chicken in Brandy sauce, and I had the Dutch pot pie. My partner loved her chicken, she said it was tinder and very rich. My Dish, was basically a deconstructed pot pie, with tender turkey and a wonderful cream gravy with vegetables ,and a giant cheddar bay biscuit, right in the middle. The biscuit was warm, tender and delicious. For dessert, we each had a slice of the delectable, red velvet cake, and because it was my birthday, they even put a candle in it for me. The waiter jokingly said that he would've sung happy birthday to me, but we really didn't want to hear him sing... LOL The service was wonderful, and for all we got, the price was very reasonable. It was a great evening. Thank you

Stopped in after work for some snacks and drinks to celebrate the holidays. I split a bottle of Rioja wine and it was delicious. It was a nice blend and I would definitely order it again. Someone in our party ordered Mother's Milk beer and it took forever for it to be served but they were happy as it's a favorite. We tried the French onion soup and the truffle fries. The fries were amazing but the soup was ok. The soup was not anything to write home about. We had fun and our waitress was nice. We were really wanting to sit in front of a fire but I don't think they're doing that anymore due to the recent fires. The building is super old and the first inn in America. I don't know if that's true but it definitely has character

We stayed in the Firehouse Suite with the king sized bed. The room is located above the Rain Spa on Market street so we constantly heard their music starting at 8am. You have to enter via the parking lot and it's a flight of wooden stairs outside. The suite was spacious but the shower-head definitely needs to be replaced in the bathroom. For the price I'd probably stay someplace more upscale. Definitely a nice location with access to all the shops and restaurants

But something about being here during winter was...magical. High class, intimate, romantic place for your partner and you to have a quiet getaway. The bar has fun cocktails both in the mansion and at the pavilion. The food was PHENOMENAL. My favorite was the truffle fries. They actually used real shaved truffle on top instead of just truffle oil like a lot of other places, so I appreciate the commitment to the craft. Complimentary breakfast was *chefs kiss*. Fun night time hangout at the fire pits with s'mores and brick oven pizza all night. I need to come back and stay in those cabins, I stayed in the mansion and it was the best sleep I've had in months. But you know what the stand out feature was? The staff. From the greeters, to the bartenders, to the management, they really made you feel special. Efficient, attentive, warm and welcoming. I can honestly keep going about how amazing the experience here was but I think I'll cut it here, just go see for yourself.

The campus feels like stepping into another era, with charming architecture and a sense of place that only a property tied to America's oldest inn (1766) can offer. The staff were wonderful and attentive, and our room was spotlessly clean and clearly well cared for. The gas fireplace in our unit added a cozy, romantic touch, and the grounds themselves were a joy to walk. They still use real keys - not cards nor fobs. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise--coffee, tea, juice, boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, and pastries--simple but fresh and satisfying. Dining at the Beekman Arms tavern was another highlight: fancy yet affordable, with delicious food served in a historic setting. But here's the hard truth: the bed ruined my stay. We stayed in Room 59, which had a king‑sized mattress that was brick‑like in its firmness. At home, I sleep on a fairly standard Sealy Posturepedic memory foam mattress with a memory foam pillow--nothing extravagant. Yet after one night here, my ribs felt bruised from side‑sleeping. I tried switching to my back, but that only left my spine out of alignment. By the second morning, I was standing under a 30‑minute hot shower at 6:30 a.m. just to calm the pain. There was no way I could have managed a third night. This inn is historic, beautiful, and lovingly maintained, with staff who clearly care about the guest experience. But until the beds are updated to match the quality of everything else, I can only recommend it with a caveat: come for the history, the food, and the charm--but avoid Room 59's king bed unless you're prepared to sleep on something that feels like it's been around since the 18th century.

Just seemed odd. All in all, for the price, it was an adequate stay.

Per our signed contract, appetizers were supposed to be served to our guests -- they were not. This was a major part of what we paid for and an important detail during our wedding reception. After bringing this to their attention, I was offered $1,500, which I did not agree to accept, and I was told the owner would personally call me back to discuss the matter further. It has now been several months, and despite multiple attempts to follow up, I have received no callback and no resolution. What has been most upsetting is the lack of accountability and communication regarding the negligence of the maître d' and the handling of our concerns afterward. A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and while mistakes can happen, ignoring your clients after the fact is unacceptable. At this point, I am publicly asking for an owner to contact me directly to properly address this situation. I truly hoped for better customer service and professionalism from a venue with this reputation.

So, when I had some initial uneasy feelings about hiring Lisa Riso, owner and head florist of The Greenhouse at Rhinebeck, to be our florist and secured the greenhouse barn for our venue, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. This was a huge mistake. First I will acknowledge Lisa's strengths. Lisa is amazingly creative at arranging flowers. She has a well-developed eye for aesthetics as evidenced by the incredibly beautiful renovated barn on the property, which was our wedding venue. There is no questioning her talent; her work is absolutely stunning. My objective is to focus on facts here. Responsiveness: Lisa is unpredictable. According to my records, she only did what she said she would do twice. To her credit, she did meet me at the linen showroom to discuss colors. However, my hope is that the following example will provide insight into how horrible my experience was in working with her. It was the WEEK of our wedding (to happen at The Greenhouse). I had been asking Lisa for the past 3 WEEKS to email me a final total for the flowers. I emailed her, I called her cell phone (and spoke directly to her and she reported she would send it at once!), I left messages at the shop. No response from her. I was left to resort to behaviors I'm not proud of. I left a VM message for her on her cell phone stating that I will be calling her every hour until I heard from her (remember, it was the WEEK of our wedding). It took 3 hours to hear from her. Professionalism: I received the final total the day I called every hour. The total was $1000 MORE than previously discussed. As a result of this increase, I wanted to make changes. Lisa called my home that night at 10pm ranting and raving that we could not make any changes. My now husband took the call, I was 2 rooms away and could hear her screaming. She was irrational and threatened to CANCEL our wedding that was only 3 DAYS away! I was really confused as this felt like it came out of the blue. Furthermore, during that call she demanded that we pay her in CASH the very next day for the flowers and the final venue payment (even though I was asking for this total for 3 WEEKS, and we sent a check earlier in the week for the barn). Out of fear that she would cancel the wedding, we complied with her request and as a result, paid $1000 MORE for our flowers. It was not practical for either of us to leave our jobs the next day and drop of the cash. Lisa, EXTREMELY irritated, provided us with a UPS account to overnight a check. We did this. It turns out however, that he USP account was cancelled; as a result, she stuck us with the bill. The centerpiece example. I LOVED my original centerpieces. I approved to have a smaller centerpiece that the trial one in order to reduce cost (this decision was made prior to the final price list). The day before the wedding, I viewed the final pieces. They nearly completely different! Lisa reported that they were the same. They were not. She stated she took a picture of the original (I STRONGLY DOUBT THIS). I did not ask to see the picture for fear that she would become irrational and cancel our wedding. To her credit, she took the UNREQUESTED yellow roses out of the arrangement as per my friend's request on my behalf. Our caterer further validated her lack of professionalism when they reported she did not show up when she said she would for their walk through. They fortunately let themselves into the building. They also reported that it was very difficult to have her return their calls. The rental company also reported that she refused to allow them to drop off equipment when "needed to" (this is according to them) she allowed this to occur only the DAY before our wedding. Value: I did not "shop around" therefore, I'm not sure I can speak to this. My husband feels that given the quality of flowers, the value feels "about right". I feel I can not accurately report on this because of my experience with Lisa's level of responsiveness, and professionalism. Flexibility: Lisa was flexible with her creativity. For future brides: The venue is beautiful. No doubt about it. I will however, only accommodate 80 people. Lisa told us that it would hold 100. This is not true. We had 85 and it was VERY tight. It was worth dealing with her level of professionalism and responsiveness for the venue. I would however, STRONGLY ENCOURAGE selecting another florist. For me, as a bride, it was important that I could trust people. I needed to work with vendors who did what they said they would do. Lisa did not do this.

A different lady behind the counter seemed to make it like it was on us for the delay/issue. (So not cool, let's be real.) The room? Clean. The bathroom? Clean. The beds and pillows? Comfy, all around. The TV? Kind of weird... sometimes the picture blacked out, sometimes it went haywire, sometimes it was a-okay for a spell. Okay, we can live with (all of) this. (Even if our 'view' was the parking lot and Target across yonder.) Later we decided to snoop around. Gym - clean with a few machines, a bench and plenty of dumbbells. The entire purpose for staying at a Bed & Breakfast is the experience. Any Inn or B&B, the owners open their establishment, makes you feel at home with a warm cup of coffee along with something freshly baked from their oven. When I checked in, I was told via text there is none of that because of the pandemic. We find that to be an excuse because we just left a B&B in Cold Spring that had everything! It's a bunch of nonsense, the owners could have baked and individually wrapped things. Just like the B&B in Cold Spring.... Oh wait, we were served a sit down breakfast. And coffee! What a concept. Check-in is at 3pm. I arrived at 1pm thinking I can get a few tips about the area. The door was locked so I rang the bell. I'm assuming its the owner who answered the door. I tell him I know I'm early, I'm looking for a few things to do locally. He said there is nothing here to show but I can send you a text? Ok.. The town of Rhinebeck is very cute, there are shops that are open while walking around. We had a glass of wine and some charcuterie while passing the time. Once it's 3pm, we were sent a text for the door code. Walking inside, The Gables Of Rhinebeck is a beautiful Bed & Breakfast. It also seems we are the only guests based on the parking lot out back. And the parking lot only has room for 3 cars? Our room is drop dead gorgeous. The bedding is adorned with a beautiful quilt. It's a suite so there is a nice sitting area. I walked downstairs to the empty parlor, grabbed two wine glasses and opened a bottle of wine that I brought from home. The bathroom, there was a lack of shelf space for our toiletries. Its a large space with a claw foot cast iron tub, very pretty. I had plans to sit outside after dinner and smoke a cigar. The lights weren't on, there is no one to ask and at that point, I really didn't care. I'm ready to leave and that is just a shame. It's not the feeling you want your guests to have when they leave. Do you agree? I asked about breakfast the next day in a text. Coffee? Oatmeal? Anything? Nothing I'm told in a text. The restaurant next door opens at 8am. Mention we're guests at The Gables Of Rhinebeck and well receive 20% off our bill. The restaurant at 8:50am was closed. At this point we jump in the car and leave. While I'm sitting down in another town, I text them saying the restaurant wasn't open at 8 or 8:30. They text back: OMG there is Bread Alone and so many other restaurants in the area that we could have chose. Overall, this was a sucky stay and I'm glad it was just for one night. They charged a premium price for the Bed but not the Breakfast?! And they weren't hospitable! Yeah OMG.
