Beautiful spaces inside and out combined with professional staff and delicious food makes for a great stay at Troutbeck. We used bikes to explore the area and had some morning stretches in the tranquil yoga studio. Friends met us for a delicious breakfast ending out visit on a very satisfying note. Worth staying longer and look forward to dinner on our next trip .

A truly magical place. We are still here and staying at room 309 and our experience has been nothing short of magical. Joy and whoever is at the front desk truly make their guests feel special. They've stopped phone calls they were on to see if we were ok. The chef and food managers like Megan treat their guest like royalty. From the moment we checked in they were able to get us a wonderful room early. We are here to celebrate our anniversary and there was a wonderful hand written note from Joy and a welcome beverage. We had a small issue with one of the chairs in the room and Nick promptly exchanged it for us. Our first night we had dinnrr at the barn for their labor day BBQ cookout and it was fabulous. The food was fresh and delicious. Their seemed like quite a few folks there that were not spending the night but were local members. The next day we reserved the gazebo and took out lunch from the main restaurant. The braised short ribs and cheeseburger were delicious. They packaged it in a cute picnic basket for us. We were able to finish our lunch by the running stream and take cat naps in the hammock. We made a short trip for ice cream in the afternoon to fudgeys and highly recommend them. For dinner we had reservations at the main restaurant and ordered the foccacia, scallops, Einhorn and seafood tagliatelle everything takes amazing and fresh. The cocktails were also worth mentioning we had the yuzu billionaire lemonade and the melon cocktail. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We then booked camp fire smores and enjoyed the evening stoking the fire and enjoying our sweet treats. This place is truly magical the decor and landscaping is tastefully and subtly luxe. If that picturesque accommodations and grounds don't make you feel special then the staff truly do iw ish I could take them home with me. We will undoubtedly enjoy our last few days. Tomorrow is spa day and we can't wait! This will be our new anniversary tradition.

In beautiful Hudson River Valley lies this luxury B&B. I came here on a snowy winter day and drove up to a picturesque romantic winter scene. The library was just as cozy as the pictures and our room was huge. We had a delicious dinner and I would highly recommend the restaurant on site. Things I did not like: - there is nothing to do in the winter here. It was too cold to bike, the pool is outdoors and the gym has not been built yet. - there is a very large staff here and the small areas including the library are busy with foot traffic. It is really not ideal for quiet reading since someone is always walking by. - I wish the room had more amenities - cozy tub or fireplace. It was bare.

We went to Troutbeck in Amenia. It had just opened its restaurant for outside guests and just in time fir Thanksgiving. It's a beautiful stone home that had several dining rooms and people were spaced apart. The food was delicious. The first course, side dishes and dessert was already determined. The diner only had to decide on a choice of one of two protein.. Turkey breast and braised leg or Steelhead Trout. So my brother got Turkey and I got Trout. We shared. Turkey was moist and tender. We thought we would get a whole leg but it was a portion. When eaten with the first course of soup and salad as well as the side dishes of mashed potato, stuffing, cornbread, Brussel sprouts and dessert, we were plenty full and very satisfied. We actually left a little on the plate unable to eat it all. The soup was extraordinarily good being smooth Koginut squash ( a hybrid of butternut squash and kabocha squash) drizzled with balsamic glaze and crunchy pumpkin seeds. I wanted to lick the bowl clean. Dessert was very good light and airy smooth pumpkin pie and semi Freddy was airy too. Apple tart in was just the perfect combo of sweet and tart. It was a worthwhile holiday meal. Being at Troutbeck made the meal an lovely occasion.

I searched for months for a perfect location to propose to my girlfriend. With so many options within a 2-3 hour train/car ride from NYC, the task was daunting. Then came Troutbeck. We ended up spending a wonderful weekend there in mid-November. Right off the bat, I knew the location would be perfect given the history of the property, the amenities, charm and the proximity to a bike trail. We stayed in the main house, in room 6. Room 6 is a suite with a living room, bedroom, bathroom and sun room (with an amazing bathtub and view of the property.) Throughout the house are lovely fire places, comfy chairs, and modern but charming and historic decor. The restaurant onsite serves amazing dishes. We had breakfast, brunch and dinner there over the course of the weekend and had absolutely zero complaints about the food itself (get the oysters at dinner and the trout toast at brunch!!!). The cocktails were also yummy and beautifully crafted. We enjoyed the acres of land and the brand new bikes which we rode to downtown Millerton. The pantry and the library were our favorite rooms. But most importantly were the members of their staff. The support from Christina, Andrew, Jen, and Clark to help plan and execute on the proposal was first-rate. The group helped me figure out where on the property I should propose and at what time. They helped me rehearse lines and we all walked through a dress rehearsal of the actual dinner where I proposed. On top of it all, they recorded the engagement so we'll forever be able to look back on our amazing weekend at Troutbeck, where we started the next chapter of our lives. If you're looking for a weekend away, a place to plan an important event, even a nice quiet evening for dinner, you should absolutely try Troutbeck.

    Pantry

Last minute gem find for us! We booked this place through tablethotels.com . It's a luxurious historic property which has a strong play in bringing hospitality. There are multiple cozy common areas with 24 hours access. My favorite part was the pantry and bar that served exclusive cocktails. I had a pistachio and olive cocktail that I drank non-stop and didn't get enough of it. If you're looking for a boutique living experience- this is the place.

I recently hosted a corporate retreat at the Interlaken for 45 leaders from our business, and unequivocally this was the best venue I've ever worked with. There are so many ways a venue can fail to meet your standards - whether it be the quality of the food, meeting spaces, or accommodations, challenges with staff, cost - but Interlaken delivered on all of it. Read the anonymous feedback from just about any corporate event, and you'll see how divisive food can be for large groups. The reviews from my event unanimously applauded the work of the Interlaken's talented chef, echoing everyone's positive feedback at each meal. They were particularly helpful in meeting the dietary needs and restrictions of every colleague we had on-site. Event spaces and property grounds were versatile and beautiful, allowing us to program all sorts of unique engagement opportunities on-site both indoors and out. The team at the Interlaken, from the event planners to the wait staff, were friendly and accommodating of every request we had - without sticking us with a penalty for last minute asks. I felt like their team was part of my team throughout the planning and execution of the event, and they were as invested in my event's success as I was. Once I booked it and asked around I realized that Mohonk has a huge following especially for the mystery weekend. I was excited to also learn that there was an Edward Gorey art exhibit! 2&1/2 hours from my house, not a bad drive! Check in time was at 4:00 but we got there early so they stored our luggage and said that they would deliver it to our room and call us when it was ready. We got a quick bite in the bar area which was not included in the weekend but we were starving! Then we looked around and went to a healing bowl meditation in the spa area. It was so relaxing, a great start to the weekend. They called us to come get our key and we went up to the room. It was Victorian looking with a balcony that had rocking chairs and 2 beds. Very pretty. The bathroom was big and had a walk in shower. It think it was a handicapped room. I didn't request one but when I called to make the reservation I inquired about how difficult it would be for a person to get around with a walker so perhaps they took the hint. The resort was massive!! And also beautiful to look at inside and out. It was also extremely clean with fresh flowers all over the place and little nooks to sit in to look outside and take in the views. The mystery weekend was so much fun. It was a play in 4 parts and by Sunday at 10 am you had to submit your guess as to "whodunnit". Just like a real life game of clue. There was also a thick packet of puzzles and games to try to solve by looking all over the hotel at the artwork to solve them. We ended up skipping that packet because we wanted a more relaxing experience. We did participate in the tabletop escape room which was really fun. We also skipped an afternoon tea on Saturday that let you interact with the characters and ask them questions to help try to solve the murder mystery. Instead we went to the spa for 2 different meditation classes. We repeated the sound bowl from the day before and also took another one which was part lecture and part meditation. I think we were supposed to choose between the mystery weekend and the regular stay which included the classes because there was so much to do besides participating in the mystery activities that we couldn't get to any other resort activities without skipping the mystery activities. We loved the mystery activities but decided that next time we would go for a relaxing spa type of stay. As far as the food, it was delicious and a lot of it! There was breakfast, brunch/lunch and dinner. We opted out of the breakfast and went to brunch both days which was a buffet with breakfast and lunch options. There were also stations to get freshly made food such as pasta, waffles, carving stations and a whole dessert area. The food was definitely upscale. For dinner it was a sit down with a waiter and a 3 course meal. The dinners took forever! First came the bread which was freshly baked and amazing, then we ordered the appetizer and the entire. The appetizers took a long time to come out but the entree took at least 45 min to arrive both nights. On Friday night we had to be at the first installment of the murder mystery play at 9:00 and our dinner came at 8:50! We took a few bites and had to leave. They were nice enough to tell us to stop back later to pick up our dessert to eat in the room. I enjoyed the brunch more than the dinners to be honest, the fish dish I had one night was extremely bland. Second night, same snafu but we did not have to be anywhere at 9pm so we stuck it out. If there were 1/2 stars this place would rate a 4&1/2 in my book. The 1/2 being taken because of the dinners and the price of the weekend. Now that I am on the mailing list, they are sending me some better deals and specials. I'll definitely be back to take advantage of those!

While they are a bit older than the resort's main target audience, it ended up being a great fit, especially since they had never been horseback riding and hadn't skied before. Everyone had a great time. We stayed in the main building in a room with two queen beds and bunk beds. The room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable with soft mattresses and pillows. Temperature-wise, it was funny, my son and I were warm, while my wife and daughter were cold, so I guess that means the room temperature was just right. One thing to note: the walls are thin. You can definitely hear noise from nearby rooms and above. Since this is a family-focused resort, that's kind of expected. It didn't bother us, but if you're looking for total quiet, this may not be the place. Since it was midweek, there were discounts, and they even offered us on our last night an extra night for and even more discounted rate. We were ready to head home, but I would absolutely consider staying longer next time. The resort is all-inclusive, and the food was solid overall. * Breakfast was your typical buffet--scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, etc. They will cook eggs to order if you ask. * Lunch was buffet-style as well and changed daily. Not amazing, but it got the job done. * Dinner was my favorite meal and felt a bit higher quality, with multiple courses and limited menu options (which I actually liked). * Dessert was fun, especially the ice cream machine. One thing I noticed is that the food is served at a kid-friendly temperature, which took a little getting used to. I'm guessing they do this so kids don't get burned. The activities were the highlight. Skiing was fantastic because it was almost empty, there were only a few other people on the hill. Since I hadn't skied since the early 90s, it was great to have the space to fall a few times without worrying about others. The staff was extremely helpful and encouraging. The hill is more like a bunny slope, but honestly, it's perfect for beginners. If you spent a few days learning here, you'd feel confident going to a bigger mountain. Horseback riding was also great, and since it was midweek, we could have gone multiple times a day. The indoor/outdoor heated pool was really nice, and there's even a waterslide. A lot of the resort seems better suited for summer, and some things were closed for winter, but we came mainly for skiing, so that didn't bother us. The staff deserves a lot of credit. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, and we never felt rushed. There's a saloon downstairs where they run games at night and offer a free drink of the night. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are always available. One small downside: when the dining areas close at night, soda machines aren't accessible, so you'd need to use vending machines (machines were coin only, so I couldn't use my Apple Pay), which felt a little odd for an all-inclusive resort. But, you can grab drinks to go while the dining room is open. On our last day, they let us do a late checkout since no one was checking into our room. We were able to grab lunch and head out without rushing, which was really appreciated. Definitely a lot more things I can talk about, but these were just the stand out things I remember. Overall: Rocking Horse Ranch is a great choice for families, beginners learning to ski, or anyone looking for a relaxed, all-inclusive getaway--especially midweek when it's quieter. It's not luxury, and it's definitely kid-focused, but it's fun, comfortable, and well-run. I'd absolutely go back.

This tiny inn is literally in the middle of nowhere, and there are less than 20 rooms, but it is perfect for an unplugged weekend getaway (although they do have free wifi) or a wedding, which is what we were there for. The layout is a tad confusing. The main inn is almost at the end of a tiny dirt road, but there is an "outhouse" of rooms closer to the entrance. I'm also not sure if there is an official restaurant or not because we missed breakfast and the wedding was catered by an outside company. The grounds are natural and beautiful -- like a well-manicured backyard complete with garden, fire pit and gazebo. Our room felt like my old bedroom in my parents' house, with a private bathroom. I truly felt like I was a guest in someone's home -- down to the communal iron and ironing board propped against the wall in the hallway. Given that this is a tiny inn, there are no newfangled key cards; they use old-fashioned keys, and our room was unlocked when we arrived. This normally would be sketchy, but in such a small, remote place, it didn't bother me. There is also no central air conditioning, but there are air conditioning units in all rooms along with ceiling fans. It was summer, so it didn't bother me in the least, but it didn't appear there was heat in our third floor "servants' quarters" room, and there was a space heater in the closet. There are extra blankets on the bed, and I'm sure heat rises, but it is something to be aware of if you are visiting during the New England winter. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. There are a couple of key points that prevent me from giving Wake Robin five stars. 1. The mattresses could use replacing. This too felt like my childhood bedroom where the mattress is 27 years old and hard as a rock. 2. The bathroom amenities, while all natural and eco-friendly, were a tad sparse. This curly-haired girl needs conditioner people! And while there were cotton balls, Q-tips and makeup remover pads, there were no tissues. Odd. 3. I understand TV isn't the priority, but a tiny 30-inch rear projection on an end table tucked under an eave? At least fake an entertainment center. 4. A pub would be adorable right off the lobby, offering simple sandwiches, salads and drinks. Overall, we had a lovely night at the Wake Robin Inn, and I would consider returning for a little weekend getaway. The nearby town centers are so quaint and worth exploring.

We knew we needed a place for 150 people and we knew we wanted it to be drivable for both family and friends in upstate New York and Boston.   We stumbled upon The Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires after months of searching, but the only wedding we had seen hosted there was inside the main cottage. Reluctantly, we decided it was probably too small for us.   Fast forward another month.  Randomly one night, my wife and I both separately pulled up the venue again and I said, "We need to just call them. Maybe they have some grass we can put a tent on." After a couple of email exchanges, Eric, the owner, and Cory, the grounds keeper, invited us out to see the space and were instantly sold. The beautiful grounds, the stunning cottages (or as we like to call them, "mini mansions"), THE VIEW.   Not only did they have four cottages on site where guests could stay, but they also had a field where they had placed a tent for previous weddings that could hold up to 150 guests. We soon found out that over the winter months they would be adding three additional cottages for guests to stay and a seasonal tent to be used for weddings throughout the summer and fall. Needless to say, we booked it.   A couple months into planning, LHGC added a wedding coordinator to their awesome team.  We connected with Kelsey instantly, discussing plans we had made and things we had coming down the line. She was always available if we had a question or concern. Come time to do our walk through before the wedding, we laid out the entire day with the help of Kelsey and our caterer.  We walked away knowing we had the dream team on board.   When our weekend approached, all the new additions were complete and the space was more beautiful than ever. We had our rehearsal brunch Friday morning and welcome party Friday night, both of which allowed for the caterers to take full advantage of the catering kitchen in the main cottage. Kelsey and Cory were completely accommodating and there from start to finish to help with anything we needed.   Our guests arrived sporadically from Friday morning through the evening and spent time playing lawn games, kayaking and paddleboarding on the lake, and enjoying each other's company.  It was so nice to have the entire grounds at our disposal.   On our wedding day, it was just the same. Everything went off seamlessly. Kelsey and Cory were both there if something came up, made sure that set up was perfect, ran the ceremony and reception smoothly and effortlessly.   Our wedding was perfect. It was everything we could have dreamed it to be and more.   Thank you, LHGC, for welcoming us to the family!  We look forward to spending many anniversaries with you on Pontoosuc Lake!

This was my first spa experience ever and I really enjoyed all that they had to offer. Great gym facilities and that paired with the Saunas and Hot tub made for a very relaxing afternoon. Beware all drinks are very expensive- but also very delicious! The only reason that I have deducted a star was because of the absolutely freezing shower I took after getting all sweaty and chlorine-y from the spa experiences. My sister and I both had the coldest showers of our lives here, which really disrupted the calm serenity that the visit left me with. I the couldn't bear it for much longer than a few seconds literally had to sit in the sauna for a few minutes afterwards to return my body to normal temperature.

Beware gift card scams and inept administration!…read more Spa itself is lovely. Front office people seemingly friendly and helpful. Been there twice. Once mid week and the other on the weekend, for massage. Mid week experience was great. Quiet enough and good, strong massage therapist. Weekend experience wasn't. Massage therapist was robotic, disconnected, unresponsive to cues or requests, and had rough dry skin hands. Not worth any of the $$ or time because it was not a relaxing massage. Of greater concern is the administration of this spa. They sold gift cards and at time of purchase said they could be located by phone number or email. When it was time to redeem, they sang a very different tune and actually tried to make me pay twice to cover their inability to locate a gift card despite being presented with physical receipts and all supporting details. That they expect their clientele to bear the cost of their ineptitude is completely unacceptable. We work hard for the money. Evidently harder than they do! Any other vendor this day and age can locate a gift card with the most basic of information. It feels intentional and dishonest that they say they cannot. Front desk says they have no knowledge of gift card process, despite having sold the gift card gladly in the first place and assuring me it could be located even without physically presenting the card. They also say they can't take action over the weekend. Then they say to wait a few days. It's been over ten days since this was raised. Reporting them. So disappointed.
