They took care of the bed really well and I just want to say if you're choosing through great Wolf Lodge or any other Ranch cause it's very nice and he has a horseback I didn't get to go, but it's OK and there is lots and lots to do I just hope that the will open soon as soon next time as I come back maybe the boats will open, but I just wanna say thank you for opening this resort throughout all these years and your cat is very nice. If you were to choose between Rocking Horse Ranch and Great Wolf Lodge, it's an easy choice. Yes, Rocking Horse Ranch is more expensive but there is an endless amount of activities for the kids to do. We came on the coldest weekend of the year but my kids had a blast skiing, snow tubing, horseback riding, pony rides, arcade, game room, playing laser tag, swimming in the pool, the outdoor hot tub, and the nightly shows. Food is included in the price and it is buffet style for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is not but you are more than welcome to order more and take things to go. There's snacks available between lunch and dinner but there's also hot chocolate/coffee available all day long with some pastries. The only downside were the rooms. They are connected so if you have loud neighbors, you won't be getting good sleep. Overall, my kids loved the place and want to go back soon. We stayed at Rocking Horse Ranch Tuesday through Thursday on a midweek deal and had a really enjoyable experience. I went with my wife and our two adult children (18 and 24). While they are a bit older than the resort's main target audience, it ended up being a great fit, especially since they had never been horseback riding and hadn't skied before. Everyone had a great time. We stayed in the main building in a room with two queen beds and bunk beds. The room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable with soft mattresses and pillows. Temperature-wise, it was funny, my son and I were warm, while my wife and daughter were cold, so I guess that means the room temperature was just right. One thing to note: the walls are thin. You can definitely hear noise from nearby rooms and above. Since this is a family-focused resort, that's kind of expected. It didn't bother us, but if you're looking for total quiet, this may not be the place. Since it was midweek, there were discounts, and they even offered us on our last night an extra night for and even more discounted rate. We were ready to head home, but I would absolutely consider staying longer next time. The resort is all-inclusive, and the food was solid overall. * Breakfast was your typical buffet--scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, etc. They will cook eggs to order if you ask. * Lunch was buffet-style as well and changed daily. Not amazing, but it got the job done. * Dinner was my favorite meal and felt a bit higher quality, with multiple courses and limited menu options (which I actually liked). * Dessert was fun, especially the ice cream machine. One thing I noticed is that the food is served at a kid-friendly temperature, which took a little getting used to. I'm guessing they do this so kids don't get burned. The activities were the highlight. Skiing was fantastic because it was almost empty, there were only a few other people on the hill. Since I hadn't skied since the early 90s, it was great to have the space to fall a few times without worrying about others. The staff was extremely helpful and encouraging. The hill is more like a bunny slope, but honestly, it's perfect for beginners. If you spent a few days learning here, you'd feel confident going to a bigger mountain. Horseback riding was also great, and since it was midweek, we could have gone multiple times a day. The indoor/outdoor heated pool was really nice, and there's even a waterslide. A lot of the resort seems better suited for summer, and some things were closed for winter, but we came mainly for skiing, so that didn't bother us. The staff deserves a lot of credit. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, and we never felt rushed. There's a saloon downstairs where they run games at night and offer a free drink of the night. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are always available. One small downside: when the dining areas close at night, soda machines aren't accessible, so you'd need to use vending machines (machines were coin only, so I couldn't use my Apple Pay), which felt a little odd for an all-inclusive resort. But, you can grab drinks to go while the dining room is open. On our last day, they let us do a late checkout since no one was checking into our room. We were able to grab lunch and head out without rushing, which was really appreciated. Definitely a lot more things I can talk about, but these were just the stand out things I remember. Overall: Rocking Horse Ranch is a great choice for families, beginners learning to ski, or anyone looking for a relaxed, all-inclusive getaway--especially midweek when it's quieter. We had a great stay at Rockinghorse Ranch! So many things for the kids to do, great decor, well staffed, and everyone was accommodating, helpful, and friendly. It was so fun to get to ride horses through the beautiful wintry woods. The ranch staff were incredibly knowledgeable and clearly cared for the horses with pride. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was kid friendly, but also fresh with lots of offerings for health and adult pallets. It was nice to have everything included and not worry about bringing a wallet or thinking about how much you're spending every day (aside from arcade and alcoholic beverages). It was also laid out really well and felt very safe so our 12-year-old could adventure out on her own and we felt completely comfortable with that. We would love to make it back! read more

I'm going to say it - better than Disney. This is in our top 3 family vacations! And we've been to Hawaii, Sedona, Disney... Kids got to ski, tube, horseback ride (on beautiful horses!), lazer tag, bowling, swimming, hot tub, shooting, archery.... Whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted. It was amazing. It was amazing. I went for a girl scouts trip I had so much fun with my troop and friends. my favorite part was definitely the mountain tubing. The only negative part was the horseback riding. the horses were out of control. my horse kept bumping into the other horses and kept ramming into the other horses the horse I was on tried to run in the woods off the track!! although I did love the horse I was riding she was a sweetheart. some of the people there were rude though they were yelling at me because my horse was running off the track!! And the other lady yelled at me because I couldn't get off of the horse!! Im still going to keep it a 4 stars though because I did have a blast at karaoke!!! the waterpark was fun. And I loved the hot tub. The sky on the drive back was beautiful too. I can't wait to go back 4 stars. read more

I wanted to go to RHR since I was a kid in the '80s and saw the ad. Maybe my parents were right by never taking me... Although back in 1985 the rooms and gym probably looked a heck of a lot better! I'm giving this 2 reviews.. One from a kid's perspective (5 stars) The other from my (age deleted) old self (1-2 star). My 7 year old cried leaving and never cries!! Then asked the whole next day when we can return. I still get asked, weeks later. The 5 stars from him are for the WinterPark (he loved the snow tubing, skiing the bunny hill and the ice skating) and the ping pong. He also loved the food and all the desserts. I'll get to the food in a bit. Wknd in February was packed. The indoor pool area was a zoo. They had very attentive lifeguards standing there, thankfully. The 'hot springs' tub outside had kids jumping in and out of it all day. How relaxing for adults!! The weekday was less crowded but still the pool and hot tub area we wouldn't venture into it looked so nuts. The arcade needs a revamp. The ping pong tables in the other room are great but the air in there was bad and whole area smelled of bleach. Now my take on the food. The first day the meals were really bad. Not one cooked dish tasted good. Not even the soup. The salad was edible. The pastries they leave out by the hot cocoa and coffee 24 hrs tasted either too sweet or stale- inedible. The coffee is Folgers and the tea is the worst quality - Lipton. At over $850 a night at least upgrade that a notch?! The next day surprised me. The breakfast buffet was very good. Again, not the hot food-- the pancakes were rubbery and inedible. The scrambled eggs were okay. But the fresh pineapple and fruit were very good and same with the yogurt bar and the honey butter to put on biscuits. The lunch, which I saw in reviews was the worst.. Was....delicious!! Best chicken cutlets. Salad bar. All very good. The room wasn't updated since perhaps 1970. Emergency exits leading to wire open air staircases were left open on the second floor (I notified them of this). The gym is THE worst hotel gym I have ever seen in my life. At least clean the exercise ball-- it had dirt on it back from a different century, I believe! I am hoping my son forgets about this place. Because honestly I don't ever care to return. But yeah I'll end on a high note - the ice rink was great and my horse was very nice to me, though I had no idea what I was doing on the trail ride. And tip - take a photo of your kid on the rocking horse by the fireplace every year you return, as it seems most ppl here are frequent visitors. That is one nice memory to keep :) read more

Here's the thing: if you look through the lens of a kid's experience, you could easily rate Rocking Horse as a 5-star experience. With the price tag and our adult experience with kids, I give it a solid 3. It's definitely clean, which is nice because that's not what I would expect from a resort geared toward kids, but it's very dated, and the walls are very thin. If you go here expected any rest, even if traveling with help (grandparents, a nanny, whatever), you'll be disappointed. I'm not deducting stars for that, because that should be a given. Candidly, it was nosier than I expected. Bonus: they do sell ear plugs in the gift shop. Also, having a gift shop in-and-of-itself with is a great plus for such a captive audience. The food is...not great. I will say (and if you know, you know) they have the good ranch. That's a bonus. But the food overall was really lacking. My son subsided on "ketchup sandwiches" by choice and the berries or melon (whatever they had the time) at the fruit station. The hardboiled eggs were unpeelable, which was actually amusing because it was my husband who picked them up from the breakfast buffet. I went with an omelet, which was totally fine. The safety of certain attractions was disappointing, including the mountain tubing, where my four year old had visible cuts on his face because the lift up the mountain abruptly stopped and then started without warning again. My husband saved my kid from worse injury, and now he's sort of terrified of that activity. I will say that the safety of the horseback riding was exceptional. I felt super safe the whole time, and very confident in the guides and their instruction. The housekeeping was also really quite kind; we had the "do not disturb" on our door and the housekeeper checked in with us as she saw us return and asked if we needed anything in lieu of a proper cleaning. We ended up cutting our stay short, leaving on Saturday after dinner vs. on Sunday. Even as a 3 by my adult standards, I will say this was without a doubt a 5 in my son's eyes. As a result, we'll probably be back, though better prepared to get this up to a four (probably a summer stay vs. winter/spring). read more

When you pull up into the parking lot you are directed where to go to upload your luggage. They will hold you luggage for you while you enjoy the grounds. There is an indoor pool and waterslide as well as an outdoor pool with two big waterslides and two little waterslides. They have a sauna but be sure to set it before you want to use it because it is on a timer and needs to heat up. There is mini golf, horse shoes, volleyball, basket ball, paddel boats, canoes and bananna boats that are weather dependent and close for the year by Columbus Day. The food is decent, you want to get the lunch when it's first out out so it's still hot and order an omelet from your server. The eggs are way better that way. They have a cute desert station with a vinella ice cream station. The salad station, potato salad, Cole slaw and macaroni salad was good. The horseback riding was so fun! I first did beginner which is walking only. It had a lot of stopping so I chose the intermediate the rest of the times. I stayed two nights. The first day I did two rides and the next two days I did all three. They let you continue to ride and use the facilities on the day of checkout with breakfast and lunch included in checkout day. The waitress told us to order a little bit of everything and if we want more she'd bring it don't worry about waisting food. I had a great experience and would love to return! read more

We have been coming here for the last few years! The kids still love it and we still enjoy it a lot! Service is always great, food is great, entertainment is great too! If you are looking for a mini getaway with kids, this is it, they have it all! We prefer winter activities over summer activities. We have been both. We feel we get more bang for the buck in the winter since all activities are included. Summer activities is just swimming and some lake activities. Winter includes, tubing, skiing, iceskating! What a great trip! The room was cute and rustic, but not enough outlets to accommodate 6 people. the horses were well taken care of and 2/4 of the horses i rode responded well to my horsemanship. i learned to ride english, and these horses are trained on western which is something i had to get used to. i wish on the beginner ride that they told you that. the intermediate ride was a blast. trotting on the horses was a blast! the theming of the resort was very on point. The food was good, especially for resort food. i was only disappointed with the service on the first night and first morning. however, they redeemed themselves the rest of the trip. all of the entertainment was good except for the last show makaylah (so sorry if i misspelled her name) was a great host and probably the best part of the entertainment. we love how she says her name at the beginning; very memorable and we still use her saying a month later! can't wait til next year! read more

The place itself is very family friendly. The staff is always available to answer questions and the facilities are well maintained. Good variety of food at each meal and the kitchen is available to make a la carte items (off menu) The only thing I would say could be better are the baked goods they leave out for people to munch out throughout the day. They're not that tasty and it's hard to know which are nut free or not- as someone who travels with a child with a nut allergy this was a deal breaker. Loved it! It's been a month and I keep thinking about how wonderful this place was. I will just give you my tips, as I long for an excuse to come back. Tips: - Make dinner reservations as soon as you can, the spots fill up. -Things get quiet around 10:00 p.m. but a first floor room will be a little loud from the people upstairs. -The shows are great at night. Even a bad show is a good show. -It is optimal for kids over 48 in tall so they can ride the horse. Otherwise they can ride the pony for 10 minutes. - Great for kids 5 to 11 -They only charge by the room so it's great to get a maximum amount of people in the room. Perfect for a family of five or six. Or two couples. -I loved the food. It kept surprising me. The selections are totally fine for kids and great for adults. The texmex in particular was good. This was such a relief eating here every day, instead of going out. I know everyone is going to find SOMETHING they like. I could eat here every day of my life. It was a good example of why I liked it here - Everything was totally satisfactory in the best possible way. - AND they give you the next day pretty much free. All you gotta do is not eat dinner and pack your stuff up to free up the room. I recommend arriving early and staying late to maximize your stay. I want to go back already. read more

RHR is a place with horseback riding, wagon rides, water sports (canoeing, banana boat rides, paddle boats), indoor and outdoor pools/water parks, bungee jumping, rockwall climbing, indoor live entertainment, quality meals and endless ice cream cones. It was worth the price tag considering we participated in most activities and did not have airline travel or additional meal costs. My kids and I absolutely loved it here. It is a dude ranch turned all inclusive resort with endless activities and fun for all. My 11 year old got to experience horseback riding for the very first time. The horseback riding guide was knowledgeable, kind, and really made my daughter's first ride memorable. My 4 year old son also got to ride a pony, and even though it was a smaller track he too had a super ride! In addition to the riding there is an indoor and outdoor pool and splash area that both my kids spent the day in, me included! There's Lazer tag, water slides, rock climbing, mini golf, trampoline jumping, a private lake with boats and kayaks- the possibilities for an adventurous day are truly endless here! The buffet lunch and breakfasts were clean, fresh, and surprisingly very tasty. Dinner was also delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful to us "noobs." I'm just updating because I forgot to say, I absolutely recommend going to see the herd parade back and forth to work/pasture. We didn't go the first few days and I regret it because it quickly became one of our favorite things. The horses are tack free and leave the ranch of their own accord, traveling about a half mile to go sleep in their pasture... thats cool enough, but the wranglers are standing by to chat, answer questions, point out specific horses... the horses stop by for pets and love (no feeding!) This is third time of us going there. Even though the first time experience was bad for me. Second time was like nothing special. Might be my kids were too young to enjoy this resort. This third time is wonderful experience. Twice in the winter, once in the May. My kids are 9, 8, 5 and half. I feel this resort is mainly for kids. My kids want to go back here every year until they grow out of it. The sweet thing is our 9 years old had some sort of rashes the second day we were there. Our family of three doesn't get many opportunities to get away. So when we booked a stay at the Rocking Horse Ranch (a place I have fond memories of visiting as a child in the 80s) for our 6 year old daughter, we were all looking forward to it. Unfortunately my daughter contracted the flu a few days before our reservation (confirmed by viral testing at the pediatrician) and we were not able to go. We asked the staff to allow us to reschedule, but to no avail. Full disclosure, a month before this, we were supposed to visit the ranch and our daughter contracted walking pneumonia a few days before our scheduled arrival. We begged to reschedule and they obliged. But they refused to help us a second time. Yes we knew about the 30 day cancellation policy. Yes we were asking them to bend the rules for us. We naively thought they would consider the point of view of our daughter. Poor girl was so sick AND we had to tell her (twice!) that we couldn't go. They already had our money, so why not just let us reschedule? Their go-to response is that you can transfer your reservation to another family or replace the sick person with someone else. This is not real life! We have one child, who else would we bring besides her? And why/how would we go without her? I would think twice before booking a stay here if you have small children. If they get sick you will lose your money, even if you have proof of illness, not to mention you will have a heart-broken crying child. We are left with a feeling of melancholy, right before the holidays. read more

I finally was able to get through to someone on the phone and ask about the requested cancellation yesterday. I explained that I sent the email. I was told that they would t honor it be a use people normally call to cancel (what!). I explained multiple times that I needed to cancel but they would not except my request. I was told that the reservation email is not monitored. I did not receive an email from the reservation email stating that it isn't monitored. I explained that too. Oh, I'm to use the sales email to cancel. I sent my original email from greater than 30 days out and was told that they would not accept the cancellation. Frustrated and will never go. read more

There are places that simply leave their mark on you and this is one of them. We have now stayed on 6 different occasions, and each trip we make is better than the last. We are just returning from our last and I simply didn't want to wait any longer for this very overdue review. The ranch itself sits on 500 plus acres where you can really stretch your legs and enjoy being outside. Activities include horseback riding at three levels - beginner, intermediate and advanced-, lake canoes and paddle boats, bungee jumping and rock climbing, indoor pool and waterslides, and shows each evening to keep young and old alike entertained. The newest addition, which we were able to see under construction on our last visit, is the Magnificent pool and water slide complex outside. We were so impressed with the way it all turned out and could hardly imagine how much we loved this resort even BEFORE it's debut. Now it is simply even better. The mountain tubing experience is one you much simply try for yourself to appreciate- laser tag, pony rides and I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of things... like the shooting gallery and the playground and the animals on display... ok you get the picture... you won't be bored, I promise. Another big plus is the food preparation and presentation accompanied with really awesome servers who make sure that you are well fed and taken care of. Breakfast lunch and dinner all feature meals that will surprise you and keep you satisfied. The staff are truly an awesome bunch of folks who always seem to remember you from your last trip or visit. They will go out of their way to greet you and ask if they can help. The owner and I have gotten to know each other well and I really am impressed with the level of dedication and caring he displays at giving us a first class visit on every trip. This fall we brought along a total of four families and 14 people to celebrate our daughter's fourth birthday- And we all had a blast. I have have nothing but good things to say about RHR. They have endless activities, unlimited meal and a varieties of nightly entertainment. It is definitely a family resort but you can still visit as adults without any children. The place is designed and decorated like a rustic ranch feel to it; they have a huge fireplce to hang around, the chairs are made to look like it were made from branches. The lamps has that western aztec look. A lot of other novelties all around the lounges. It gets your eyes wondering all over the area. In that area there is a small "snack court" unlimited hot and cold drinks and some small bites like cookies, scones, or muffins. Also there is a water fountain. The place is so well maintained and very clean. Most staff, if not all, were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style but you can order omelettes or eggs Benedict. Lunch is also buffet style with also unlimited well drinks. Dinner menu changes nightly with silver ware not plastic ware and it is also unlimited but adult beverages is with a charge (no cash only credit card). Remember each time there is also a server to help you and take your orders. That is fantastic: Emily, Bryan, Liz, to name a few were super friendly and helpful. I did not forget the "happy hour" which I call it but the resort calls it "chef tasting" the typical cheese, salad and chips also meatballs and some pasta.... plus the unlimited adult drinks!!! Gotta love that! We went for a mini hike and we almost got lost because the trail signs were not consistent and very few. We loved the giant fire pit outside. Included a nightly special of cowboy tunes and marshmallow. The trail rides were amazing. We took advantage of the unlimited rides in different routes. We were able to do 3 rides a day followed by watching the horses parade across the street to their "school yards" All the horses looked so happy. The same feeling we all get when we know work/ school is over and we get to mingle with our friends at the school yard or lunch room. I must thank Leo, Sergio, Chris, and all the other staff (apologized I forget some of the names) for being patient, for helping get me off the horse until I got my land legs back and for allowing me to brush the horses in the morning. I know it can be over whelming with many guess to take care of but all the staff were organized, and always kept their cool, calm and collectiveness. Once you check out you can still use their facilities, parking is free, bag storage is free and they also have bag carts. You never feel as though they are pushing you out. The same if you check in early and your room is not ready, you are allowed to use their facilities and start joining the fun!! We enjoyed our visit. I appreciated the free upgrade. It was worth celebrating our birthdays here, in fact the dining staff surprised us with a birthday mini cake with candles and sang to us. This is a review for their BBQ. With everything closed due to COVID, I went with the $35 platter of bbq including brisket and pulled pork. We been coming here for few years now and the place is definitely meets all of your expectations however since past few years it has been lacking rules. For example people smoke everywhere it almost disgusting the whole time I was in the pool the whole time I smells cigarettes. Couple of years ago it was smoke free resort I guess not anymore! Also this time around no one seems to fallow after 9pm be considered and walked quietly because kids are sleeping! I stayed 5 nights and the whole time it was like a zoo until 12 am sometime even past that time! Horrible! I don't know what is going on but the place lacks rules big time! I have been coming to this place for decades. Most start going as children and proceed to bring their children and grandchildren as well. It becomes a tradition very quickly in families and it's easy to see why. The activities are pretty fun in every season..I like the winter the best but I have been there and had fun at each time of the year. Alot of indoor and outdoor activities but the horse back riding is usually center stage for most people. You need to be tested for ability on the advance trail but can ride along the two other trails (beginner and intermediate) at will. There is a size requiment of 48 inches. Riding is all day starting at 8am and you are guaranteed one ride by reservation and ride stand by in the others . Best bet is to do a stand by at 8am and reserve a ride at 1130 or 155 because they are the most crowded. The horses are worth everything! The food is not the best honestly. But breakfast is pretty decent. Rooms are basic and they don't offer any upscale suites. People usually come from nyc, ct and new England with the bulk coming from the tri-state area. Absolutely love this place for my kids!! The indoor and outdoor pool is amazing, the food is spectacular. Also, it's super expensive though, and you have to book like 5 months in advance, but still! The outdoor activities are amazing, and laser tag my son had a blast in! IN 1 LINE: Family-oriented ranch resort that will make you want to come back year after year! My family has been going to RHR since I was 4 years old! We love that there is a warm environment all year round created by the friendly staff who greet us back like family every time we return. It is honestly a home-away-from-home! Let me highlight some of our favorite aspects: -All inclusive (from food to night-time entertainment) -Great Horseback riding: hourly from 8AM on The trail-rides are divided up by level of riding ability (from beginner to advance), so there is something for everyone, no matter your experience. The wranglers are patient and are helpful if you want to advance from one level to another. -Snow-tubing: To some, it might not look like a big hill, but it's sure to be a huge thrill, especially if you go at night when the mountain gets icy. -Winter activities include: skiing (one mountain only) and ice-skating. -Summer activities include: water-skiing, banana-boat rides, pools with waterslides, rock-climbing wall, bungee trampoline and sports. -All year round entertainment led by a director: Karaoke, BINGO, and trivia, just to name a few. This was our first time visiting Rocking Horse Ranch. We took our two boys (10 & 13). We thought they had great amenities and being first time skiers, it was perfect for us. We enjoyed all of the activities that were offered. The food was good, not gourmet but we were happy with all of our meals. The room was a typical hotel room, which was nice. There's lots to do and we weren't able to fit it all in. I would recommend this place to anyone with kids. We're planning on going back in the summer. read more

This is a COVID-era review, so take it with a grain of salt if you are reading as a post-pandemic Future Earthling who has managed to survive the apocalypse. Pros: - Most staff were really, really nice, particularly servers in the dining room, bungee jumping / rock climbing, pool area staff, etc... We thought the woman who checked us in was abrasive and impatient, however -- but perhaps it was a late, long day. Goodness knows we all have our moments. - Activities open in the early spring when we visited: horseback riding of course; a small menagerie to visit, which includes a tame and mellow zebra, pigs and goats, and a dromedary... though sadly they didn't seem to have much room to roam; a bungee jumping center and climbing wall; kayaking and canoeing; indoor water park with a fun curvy slide; mountain tubing. We only needed an overnight stay to get our fill of all of the above. Cons: - The rooms are dated... We chose a "suite," supposedly the best room on offer, where a partial wall (w/ no door) separates a children's room from an adult room. Bathrooms were newly renovated and fairly nice, but on the whole, the rooms felt shabby and motel-y. Note that there are air filters in the rooms, which is a very nice COVID precaution. - Horseback riding sessions were very difficult to book. We checked in at the regular check-in hour and were only able to book a ride for long past checkout time the next day. (You're not allowed to book rides prior to check-in.) That said, we were able to get two members of our party on a ride earlier in the day as standby riders. Staff did not adjust stirrups properly for our child, so he couldn't post properly while trotting. (This hurts, especially given that rides are fairly long.) - Maybe I'm a snotwad, but the food was pretty bad by our standards. Everything was sort of low-grade Sysco in quality, e.g. breakfast included rubbery scrambled eggs that were probably made from a powder, pancakes from a mix. The bacon was nicely fried, though. Dinner entree portions were surprisingly small (even for a small person like me), and not very delicious based on what we tried. A "ribeye steak" presented more like Salisbury steak. But I did actually quite enjoy the salad that comes to the table at the start of the meal and the side of broccoli was soft and buttery enough to make it into our children. We don't often enjoy the all-inclusive food experience, to be fair, since it inevitably prioritizes quantity over quality. Did the kids love the experience? Yep. Did the parents think it was worth approximately $1000 / night? Not entirely. read more

So with the Pandemic last year and everything else going on, my family really hasn't had a Vacation in almost two years. So with that being said a couple of months ago I made the decision to book RHR as my 9 year old is OBSESSED with Horses. We booked 3 Nights in August and the idea of being all inclusive is appealing having kids and not having to worry about carrying money around and paying out of pocket for every little thing, but the per night expense is pretty expensive on the surface. We made the almost 6 hour drive ( with a couple of stops ) and found the resort easily, pulling in to the parking is well organized and we were greeted by a friendly employee upon check-in. Arriving around 2:30 it was nice that our room was already ready ( Bunk Bed room with two queen beds ) and it was a short walk from check in to the room. We were greeted by a clean spacious room that was perfect for our families needs. Meals were good overall and the food selection was plentiful, especially during Breakfast and Lunch ( I thought food quality was good for resort food ) and the employees were very friendly overall. Activities were on the most part well managed with only a few small hiccups ( Maybe better organization of the Bungie line and more consistent time management as I swear some kids randomly got more time than others. The Horse riding was a real treat and very well organized, the Animals seem well cared for and if you're able to watch over 100 horses being led from the ranch to their pasture it's quite a sight to behold. Overall a great time, a couple of niggles kept RHR from being perfect, but if you like Horses in particular this is certainly a must visit. read more

This was a very pleasant experience and it exceeded my expectations. I think the website excellently portrays the "Ranch." The evening shows were surprisingly fun for all and was represented by very good talent. This place was perfect for my 9 and 12-year-olds. They rode horses in the am, pool in the afternoon and made many friends with other guests staying at the ranch. What really impressed me was a small customer service issue that I had at check-in. The management hunted me down very early the next am to discuss and propose a very fair solution. As a business owner, I am very impressed with how fast Scott acted to "reframe" the experience to what they are known for.... cleanliness, fun and a great corporate culture.
