Went for Valentine's Weekend. The hotel was clean and smelled fresh. The front desk was friendly I think his name was Richard and nice. As a HHonors member, I also received a complimentary upgrade to my room. I also had special requests due to being in a wheelchair. They were all met! Beds were comfortable. Downsides were that the hot tub was closed and the breakfast the next morning tasted fine. But it was empty. Had to keep asking for a refill of food. As they had one person working on it. Should have had more staff on to attend the dining area and make the food on a holiday weekend. read more

We were able to get into our room a little early and that was wonderful as we were a little tired from our trip. The parking lot and lobby were very clean and we noticed the breakfast room was large and had lots of light. We were greeted so nicely by Clara and the other very nice employee (apologies for forgetting his name). Our check in went very quickly, we got a luggage cart and went to our room. Everything was neat and clean, each bed had 4 nice soft pillows. I went downstairs to ask a few questions and the cookies were just being brought out. The front desk employees were so nice and gave me a few cookies to bring up to the room. They were friendly and helpful and were able to answer all my questions. read more

Everything about my stay here was very good. I had reservations, for two queen bed size studio suites. The rooms were huge. I absolutely loved the space, and layout of the rooms. The beds were very comfortable and you have plenty of soft pillows. My one advice for Hampton Inn would be, they could use some updates on their furniture and drapes. read more

We checked in on a Thursday we have a bout 22 or 23 rooms blocked for a wedding. there's another wedding that has probably the rest of the hotel. Do you think they would have a bartender but that's OK they put on the TVs and everybody was happy about the Yankee game being on.. they had beer in the refrigerator which was easy access so that was good. Actually, I think it was better than the bartender you get it quicker . Lol. The staff is very helpful and considering amount of people they had a check in it went pretty quick, even with the little hiccups. We had the king sweet it was excellent nice and clean. No smells just unusual. Didn't have a safe the one time I needed it so I had to carry all the cash around for the wedding. That's right, we got married the fiancé and I. They allowed us to stay in the lobby and partied till 3 o'clock in the morning. The lobby has a bar but it was the one in the manning. It was very late by the time we got back at 12:30. This place does not have a pool and my surprising. I thought it had a fire pit but it does it but it has a nice courtyard. I got a little sun before the wedding. They go to the gym to little exercise on the treadmill weights then I hit the shower. Plenty of hot water plenty of soap plenty of room highly recommend it. read more

This place is a nice, comfortable hotel with wonderful staff. The furniture is a little tired, with obvious signs of wear and tear, but the rooms and facilities are impeccably clean, which means the staff must be working very hard and doing a great job to keep the rooms and common areas so clean. The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly-definitely gave off a great vibe and I was grateful for the fast, and seamless check in process after a long road trip. Had to push HARD overall wasn't a horrible experience, but I think something could be done about the smell and wifi. That is honestly what is making me rate this fairly low. I stayed her from Sunday to Wednesday. Pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean and very quiet. Check in a breeze with electronic door locks, using a phone to enter! There are just a few things,minor, but worth mentioning. One, the complimentary coffee and tea was always cold in the evening, somewhat disappointing as most Hampton Inns have it hot and ready all the time. Secondly, I had to ask several times for towels as they do not clean your room every day. (Wasn't aware but ok really). Disappointed to find out all they carry for tea is Lipton at tea/coffee center in hospital Every other Hampton we have been to has better brands than Lipton and a variety of teas (earl grey, English breakfast, etc.) . We asked the front desk if the breakfast area had the teas but were told no When we stayed at the Hampton inn in Geneva NY last year, the night manager allowed us to go in the pantry and choose the teas we wanted. That was real customer service Why am I paying a relative premium for Hampton inn if I am not even getting good tea at night - disappointed in this Hampton hotel in Poughkeepsie . I stay at these properties very often. But his hotel charges the prices of a Hilton, with the customer service of a Red Roof Inn. It was atrocious. I stayed here June 14th for one night. I did not have a good experience. The room was not cleaned before my arrival, there was hair on the pillow cases and in the public hair in the bathtub. This is not the standard I'd expect from a Hilton property. There were also people partying in the hallway the entire night, and I called the front desk to complain about the extreme noise level and nothing was done. The next morning, during checkout, I politely mentioned to a manager and let her know about the issues I experienced. She was very apologetic and kind, and told me she would like to offer me a refund for my stay, which was nice and unexpected. She told me I just had to contact the third party where I booked the room, GoSplitty.com and they would contact her and she would approve a refund. The third party was VERY difficult to get in touch with. I had called them many times, and emailed them, and finally 2 months later, they contacted me. They said it would be no problem, and they would call the hotel and get confirmation from the manager and they would refund the night. Well, they called the hotel and spoke to one of the managers, Loya, and she denied the request because she said this never happened. This wasn't surprising, because Loya wasn't the one that I spoke to. So I called the hotel directly to clear it up. Lola answered, and right from the start she was curt. I told her the situation, she seemed annoyed and frustrated, and said she would put me on a brief hold. She came back a few minutes later and said, "I just spoke to the other manager, she said this never happened, and so we're not going to give you the refund." I thought for a minute I was calling the wrong hotel location, but she confirmed this was the one I stayed at. I told her I have no reason to make this up, and go through all of this effort, and maybe because it was in June the manager doesn't remember, but it definitely happened. I tried to explain more and she interrupted and said, in a very rude manner, "We're not refunding you." I said, "Okay, then I guess I'll deal with this through customer service then. Can I have the name of the other manager so I can reference this to them?" And she said, "No, I am not going to tell you her name." I asked again and she said "No I do not have to give you the managers name." I have NEVER stayed at a hotel where a manager refuses to give another managers name! So I realized that Lola was unwilling to help guests properly, so I hung up. I called customer service, told them the situation, and they promptly followed through and offered me the refund I was promised. I would not recommend staying here because if you have any issues, Loya and the "unnamed manager" with not help you. Call customer service instead. Or better yet, pick a. better hotel. There are plenty of other hotels in this area that actually know what hospitality is. read more

Here are some of the things that influenced my rating: - Upon arrival, only one of two elevators were working. And, the housekeeper with the big cart made a point of pushing her way into the elevator before me (with my luggage) did. - Empty hand sanitizer at the elevators station - No towels in fitness center; free weights only to 15 pound dumbbells; weight machine out of order; clock with dead battery. - Very basic room: No plastic cups or glasses in room; no pen/paper; clocks hadn't been reset after daylight savings change. - Not the most convenient location...I walked about a mile down a busy road to get to Price Chopper, Starbucks, etc. There are many other hotels much closer to those places. - Standard Hampton Inn breakfast fare...not the greatest coffee, etc. - Very weak wifi throughout the hotel. - They don't tell you when you check in that you won't be getting housekeeping service (apparently they've decided to continue the COVID no-service approach)...even though the sign on the bathroom says to put your towels on the floor to have them replaced. After three days of trash piling up and now out of paper cups and coffee pods, I went to the front desk at ~7:30am to request that my room get serviced that day. At 4pm, no one had come so I called the front desk and they indicated that they had run out of time and that they would put me on the list for the next day. Ugh! I was trying to think of something this hotel had going for it, but even the location is pretty crappy. I wished I had selected the Residence Inn or one of the various other comparable hotels a short ways down the road which are very close to the Starbucks, Price Chopper, etc. I would NEVER ever go back to this Hampton Inn. read more

Loved my stay here! The staff was extremely welcoming and courteous. The room was spotless and the beds were comfy. It was a renovated hotel room and the shower water pressure was awesome. All Neutrogena products in the bathroom. Continental breakfast was one of the best I've seen: scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, waffle maker, kielbasa, oatmeal with toppings, cereal, bagels, muffins, fruit salad, assorted yogurts... Respectable. Not only is that the title of a classic Stones song, it can also be used to describe more or less the entire Hampton Inn brand and this location as well. Location: Easy in and out off of Route 9 and there are a lot of food options in the area with a Red Lobster, Red Robin, Subway, Five Guys, IHOP and Bonefish Grill plus others nearby. Room: Clean looking and comfortable as expected. The hotel was crowded with kids and a college sports team but either everyone was decent or this place has bunker-esque walls because everything was perfectly quiet. Breakfast: Standard Hampton breakfast that if you've seen one then you've seen them all. Noteworthy is that the two people working the breakfast did a good job keeping things refilled as the area was very busy early in the morning starting with the aforementioned college sports team(s) plus a fair number of families. Parking: Plenty of spaces around the entire building especially in the back where no one seemingly wanted to park. Check In: It was a piece of cake as I had checked online in advance so they had my card and the room I chose was the room I got. Perfect. Hampton Inns are not set up to be pleasure palaces but if you're looking for reasonably priced, clean and comfortable along with being close to food options, Marist, CIA and the area NPS/historic locations you could do much, much worse. (Minus one very big star for not offering a fridge in the room like so many other Hampton locations.) read more

Yes, I had to add this place to the database because it opened last Tuesday. Being out of town for election day this year is like being out of town for the Super Bowl, something that happens way too often for me. I'd have my bowl of chili, a cold Halloween-themed beer, plenty of Doritos, CNN on the (very large screen) TV, NPR on the radio and my laptop at the ready to check anything that required instant research. The wife would be right there with me, and we'd be biting the nails to the end. Damn, it's gonna be good. A sluggish Wednesday would be as guaranteed as the Monday after the Browns win the Super Bowl. Not in my lifetime. Instead, I'm in the Hampton in ol' Pokie-land. But, given the HDTV (42" Sharp LCD) with HD cable channels, I'll be sitting pretty good. And, the munchies will be on expense. The fact that the place smells like a brand-new house and the beds haven't been slept in yet makes this place very nice. It is a bit of a drive off the I-84, but this is pretty country. It's early, but the service at the desk was exceptional. She gave me the Wi-Fi code without having to ask. Granted, it doesn't seem to work, but the wired access does. The bathroom and room in general are big enough. They have a pool and exercise facility (more on that after I use it.) There is a complimentary hot breakfast in the morning, as with all Hamptons. I'm sure it will be average, but will update if found to be otherwise. The thermostat and hair dryer look space-age. The main dinger on this place is price. I paid a corporate negotiated $118/night. That's about 60% more than a standard, just-off-the-highway Hampton, in my experience. read more

Two couples stayed two nights here given the convenient location for the things we wanted to do for a couple of days in the Hudson River Valley and overall good reviews. Although our first reaction was "OH - OH" when we saw the two chairs in the lobby with fabric literally worn through on the arms, we were pleasantly surprised by the condition of our rooms. (You know...if the chairs first visible when you walk in the door are in that bad condition, what must the rooms look like?) Rooms were spacious and clean, even if they looked like much of the furnishings needed a face lift. (Comfy mattresses though, need to say that!) Property was quiet. Conveniently located for on / off to US 9. Pleasant staff, if not overly friendly. Also, decent free breakfast options (but really...who needs more than fruit and yogurt with their coffee I ask) in a nice sized breakfast room. Lots of parking in the big lot. (LOVE ample parking.) Overall, assuming the price was right we'd consider this property again on another stay in Poughkeepsie. But it wasn't so good for us not to look around at competitors if a better bargain was to be had. read more

My husband and I stayed here in May for 2 nights when we attended the Vassar College graduation. The carpets in the halls were stained, one elevator was out of order and our room wasn't particularly clean. When we told the Vassar graduate we were staying at the Hampton Inn, he replied, "Oh, no! I hope you're not on the second floor. That's where Vassar sends students who test positive for COVID to quarantine." Yes, we were on the second floor. A great disappointment. When we arrived there were no employees to check us in. We called and walked into there back offices to locate someone without success. Some 15+ minutes later a female employee arrived followed about 5 minutes later by a male employee. This means that the hotel had no one checking to see who was entering and no one available should there had been an emergency. If my stay had not already been prepaid (reward pts), we certainly would have left as there are numerous motels near in route 9 the excuse they gave was that the pandemic had caused staffing shortages. NO NO NO!!! This place is dirty, grungy, smelly- and the mattresses are 8 years old!!! How do I know that? The receptionist told me because I was awoken last night to being crazy itchy due to being covered in dust mites!!! I am allergic to them, and I haven't had an allergic attack in many years because every other hotel changes out their mattresses within an appropriate amount of time (I travel a lot, so I stay in lots of hotels). If they are not changed, they accumulate more and more of dust mites over time (look it up if you don't believe me). A normal amount found in mattresses and rugs doesn't affect me, but an infestation does! I got up with this at 2am, and now I'm a zombie at 6:33am. I just checked out, and am going to the Marriott in Kingston. Today will be tough having had no sleep though.. :( EDIT: The Marriott in Kingston is fantastic!!! read more

The Hampton was dirty from the front door to the room. Garbage was overflowing at the entrance, outside the elevator for two days the carpets were not vacuumed in the entrance, hallways and rooms. When we walked in the room it looks like it was not vacuumed for weeks, the closet door did not close we had to put a suitcase in front of it to keep it closed, the A/C unit every thirty minutes made a loud bucking noise. The drawer that was to be used to put clothes in had debris and pubic hair in it. We had to keep our clothes in the suitcase and wear socks as to avoid the filth on the floor. We have stayed at Hampton Inns numerous times in the past but this one was the worst we have ever stayed in. We spoke to the desk personnel, and they said sorry but did nothing. We had reserved five rooms for our family due to our uncle passing away. read more

Great hotel. Clean, comfortable & warm and inviting staff. We stayed for a few night while in town for a wedding. We were allowed to check in an hr early to get ready with no issues at all. Our room of double beds was comfortable and clean. Fairly spacious too. My only suggestion would be to add a small fridge to the room. We def missed that. We had leftovers that went to waste and drinks we would have liked to keep cold. The shower and bathroom were well maintained. And they offered a lot of in room toiletries. Breakfast was great. Could have used a little more seating, but we managed. The kids loved the indoor pool too. If we're ever in town again we'd def stay here. read more

Room next to us left a note under our door asking to have a threesome with us. No joke. We laughed and took a photo of it, put it back under the door, and got ready for bed. Dude relentlessly knocked on our door and our shared wall for the following hour, harassing and scaring me and my partner. Front desk was GREAT with it! We called and they gave him a warning over the phone, and when he continued they came up to our floor and spoke to him personally, and threatened to kick him out if he continued. This hotel has bedbugs. That's right. BEDBUGS. We found one large adult bedbug and two bedbug nymphs in our room. This means they are reproducing inside the Hampton Inn. When we reported it to the manager, he got my family a new room and offered to dry our clothes for us (heat being the one guaranteed way to kill bugs and eggs), but did not have a system in place to treat non-clothing items. He suggested we do a "visual check" of our suitcases, shoes, books, purses, and kids' toys to find any stray bedbugs. However, no visual check will find the eggs of the bedbugs, which are invisible to the naked eye. We were appalled at the irresponsible policy of the hotel and the management company. Also, to quote the manager, named Jason, he said, "We don't have a bedbug problem." This was a disturbing refusal to admit to the problem, and will only perpetuate the infestation within the hotel, and the spread of bedbugs to their guests. Stay away. read more

Arrived at this hotel on a Saturday night of Columbus Weekend with a reservation. The front desk clerk informed me that the shift before hers overbooked the hotel and gave our room away. The best she could do was give me the manager's card and ask that I call him on Monday. As a Hilton Hhonors Gold member, I was appalled when hearing that my room was no longer available and, because of all of the weddings in the area, there was nowhere to stay. Avoid this hotel! While the physical amenities and the rooms are fine here, my experience at the Hampton Inn Poughkeepsie has been completely unacceptable. On the second night of my stay I returned from dinner to find that a mysterious roof leak had drenched the desk and my laptop. Initially, the Hampton staff were accommodating and promised (re: the 100% satisfaction guarantee) that I would be compensated for any damage to my property. After letting it dry for a night, I spoke to the manager, Monica Wojcik. We tried to get the computer working. It obviously wouldn't work. It had been soaked for hours. So she told us that she could do two things: refund our stay at the hotel (around $650) AND give us $500 (apparently the maximum liability in New York State). Together, we agreed, that that would more than cover the cost of a new MacBook. We purchased a new computer for around $1000 plus tax, and returned to the hotel to sign the necessary paperwork to receive the liability payment. But we were surprised when the figure that appeared on the liability form was only around $650, covering our stay but NOT the $500 insurance payment promised. She claimed that she could not offer that payment and that, in fact, she had never promised it. She claimed, instead, that OUR insurance would need to cover the loss and damage. This is ridiculous: it means that my stay at the Poughkeepsie Hampton Inn ended up destroying a computer AND costing over $400! The management here are guilty of a shameless bait-and-switch. It's for that reason that I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Poughkeepsie area. The management should be held responsible and Monica has no place in the hospitality industry. read more

Planning a trip to see the history and the scenery of the Hudson River Valley, we reserved a suite in this Hampton Inn in Poughkeepsie for two reasons: (1) this Hampton cost less but received better reviews than the one in Albany and (2) Poughkeepsie is central to the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area. We were able to rent a suite at a reduced rate because we were staying for more than twelve nights. The suite was quite large and very well designed -- the nicest we've stayed in, for the price, in the last twenty or thirty years. It cost just ten dollars a night more than a room; consequently, the total cost was actually less than a room, because the suite included a small kitchen with a bar sink, a mini-fridge and a microwave. With that, we were well-equipped to eat one or even two meals a day in the suite, saving substantially more than ten dollars a day in the cost of restaurant meals not taken. We didn't miss them: where restaurants are concerned, the HRV is no match for San Francisco, Seattle or Portland. The suite also included an outside-the-bathroom sink set in a long countertop that was more than adequate for two people AND it was positioned at a height intended for adults! There were four mirrors, one over the bathroom sink, another over the bar sink, and two full length mirrors on the doors to the large closet. All were adequately lighted. The oversized shower was one of the best we've ever seen in a moderately-priced hotel although it did lack a ledge for washing the feet. There was no bathtub but, in light of the great shower, a tub would have been redundant. Towels were thick and numerous. Our sole complaint in this area was Hampton's soaps and lotions. None of them were of good quality. The hand soap was so caustic that I dubbed it "Grandma's Lye Soap" and purchased a bar of Dove. The TV was a forty-inch flatscreen of good quality. There was enough seating for half a dozen people. The furniture was squarish and adequate but neither handsome nor comfortable. The king bed was comfortable and it was flanked by two reading lamps. The room relied on one of those under-the-window HVAC units for heating and cooling, but it wasn't as noisy as most and it was positioned at the far end of the room where it blew toward the kitchen, not toward the bed. Unfortunately, it did produce a burned smell on a couple of occasions. The front desk assured us that there was no danger: the smell was only dust burning off the radiator after a summer when it was not used for heating. This told us that the HVAC units should have been cleaned with the approach of fall. However, maintenance of the room and the hotel was otherwise good. The exercise room was located next to the indoor pool but was separated from it. It boasted very expensive, gym-quality Precor machines in good condition AND a thermostat that allowed me to lower the temperature of the room into the sixties, suitable for exercise. The elliptical machine was very smooth but had a short and choppy stride better suited to shorter legs than mine. I did not use the treadmills, stationary bicycle or weight machine. The computer room was outfitted with three computers and a printer. Log-on sometimes required a code but the procedure was uncomplicated. The breakfast room was very pleasant but was furnished with higher than normal tables that were strangely mismatched to lower than normal chairs and couches. Breakfasts included two selections from a total of five pre-made, reheated hot items, offered on a rotating basis. I avoided four of the five hot items because they were high in fats. There were also half a dozen cereals including two adult cereals; yogurt as well as milk; coffee and tea; and the usual green, crunchy, tasteless fruit. In sum, the standard motel breakfast fare. We set up our wedding block at Hampton Inn and could not be more happy with our choice. The staff was so friendly and accommodating - every time I walked in or out I felt like I was with friends who remembered me. They really went out of their way to make our stay fantastic, everything from allowing us early check in to the towel elephant in our suite to the very kind staff who stored the top of our wedding cake in their fridge. I had a large, kind of rambunctious group of very excited guests, and everyone was taken care of with style. The breakfasts were so delicious too! We decided to forgo a formal post wedding brunch in lieu of just having the hotel breakfast, and it was wonderful to see all our guests as they filtered in (and to eat every carb in sight after months of dieting for the dress LOL!). I was happily surprised by the quality of the breakfast, and found it very tasty! We decided to stay an extra night, and they set it up without any issue at all. Our room was amazing - so spacious, and we took lots of hot tubs! They even have a to-go breakfast bag for people who leave early (we checked out before 7am), which was such a nice treat. In all, I could not recommend Hampton Inn more highly - from reserving the block to checking out, they were A-1! read more

Fire alarm went off every night when I stayed here from someone lighting a candle, etc. Loud guests, children screaming in the hallways between 10pm and midnight. Management needs to make their guests aware of quiet hours and that u can't have any open flame in a hotel. I thought that was obvious but after 2 nights in a row of being woken to a fire alarm, apparently it's not, so the hotel needs to educate their guests upon check in. I doubt I'll stay here ever again. I spoke with the manager and he shrugged the whole thing off indicating that this kind of BS is pretty normal for the hotel. read more

Staff was great. Very helpful. The breakfast was nice. Coffee was great. Dairy alternative milk wasn't around though. The room was beautiful. Until we took our shoes off... the carpet was to grimey and sticky you have to wear flip flops around the room. My feet stuck to my shoes. It was really disgusting. I don't know how other people haven't said anything but it's really just not clean. The rest of the room was spotless. Pool was great. Beds suck. read more

The hotel was clean. I appreciated the Neutrogena products and the kids enjoyed the pool. The staff worked hard to get us an early checking which was much appreciated. Buffet had some nice options as well and the coffee was hot! The toilet clogged on our second night for no apparent reason. Made for an inconvenience traveling with two kids. There are not a lot of options for decent hotels in Poughkeepsie, but I have found this one to be quite nice. Its nicer than your average Hampton Inn and if you have HHonors status the suites you get upgraded to are huge although they do not have a separate bedroom. Everything else is typical Hampton Inn. read more
