I stayed here 2 nights ago (Monday 5/4) and my experience was so nice that I wanted to express my gratitude and leave a nice review. I wish I got her name, but the woman who checked me in Monday around 6:30pm was so delightful. I wish every check-in process was like this! She was so friendly, helpful and sweet. I had trouble getting into my door (turns out I just wasn't turning the knob correctly, LoL!) and she came with me to the door to help me in. I asked about morning coffee and said our film crew (myself included) needs to check out and leave for work at 5:30am, and she put in a request to have the coffee ready for us earlier than normal hours. And sure enough it was there the next morning! Yay! I wish every hotel experience was this nice. Give that woman a raise! Friendly hotel staff, quiet area. The room could use a bit more once over when it comes to dust and so forth probably most disappointing was the parking fee. I don't understand why there would be a parking fee in the suburbs at a hotel with a large parking lot. There was plenty of space. read more

I stayed at Courtyard Poughkeepsie for 2 nights when I was attending a wedding in the area. The hotel is in a great location in the Hudson River Valley. The hotel room was very spacious with a king bed, couch that turns into a sofa bed, refrigerator, and moveable workspace. There is ample parking spaces. In the lobby, there is a 24-hour market stocked with snacks and necessities next to check-in/check-out counter. Also, there is The Bistro which is open for breakfast-Mon-Fri: 6:30 AM-9:30 AM and Sat-Sun: 7:00 AM-10:00 AM and for dinner Mon-Sat: 5:00 PM-10:00 PM. The Bistro proudly serves Starbucks Coffee beverages and offers a variety of food and drink options. I arrived on a Thursday night about 8:00 PM and checked out The Bistro. It wasn't too busy and we ordered at the counter and found a table to sit. The staff member brought the food to us. I had The Bistro Burger which had aged white cheddar, lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli on a brioche roll with french fries. It was quite good and the fries were very crispy. My husband had the grilled chicken and bacon quesadilla that came with tomato salsa and avocado mash. The staff members we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Stayed here for one night since it was close to a private event that I attended. When checking in, the staff asked if I wanted a higher or lower floor and I chose the higher floor. But she said I had to wait for a room so I just opted for a lower floor. Btw, this hotel only has two floors and has multiple entrances except entrance B was not usable. Zero views and just looks out at the parking lot but does have a small balcony. While walking to my room, there was a cigarette smell coming from a room nearby and can smell it in the hallway. And once I entered my room, the cleaning person left their cleaning spray. Makes me wonder if this room was even cleaned. The bed was made though and new towels were hung. However, when I pulled the blanket off, I noticed stains on the bedsheet (as pictured). It was too late in the night to ask for a new one so had to sleep on the other side which defeats the purpose of sleeping on a king bed. The fan in the room is also very loud and the couch has multiple stains on it. Not the Courtyard quality that I expected, tbh, as a Marriott person (esp when a night cost $191). Clean, quiet and comfortable in an older facility. The Bistro is *much better* than it has to be and it's in the lobby. Be aware that the elevators are at opposite ends of the building. There are still adjoining rooms, so noise WILL transfer through the door. Great value for money, WONDERFUL STAFF. read more

Basic Marriott, I stayed here while visiting Hyde Park and the FDR estate. Located in Poughkeepsie, about six miles away. Right now it's actually undergoing a total facelift. Two stories with long hallways snaking off the lobby. Large lobby with plenty of lounge seating and a small business center. Counter area for serving coffee and breakfast, though right now breakfast is grab and go. Fast checkin, helpful staff. They accommodated my late checkout request. Though the hotel is right off a main road, my room was quiet and I wasn't disturbed. Little balcony area on some of the second floor rooms. Great blackout curtains. Room has a decent bed, convenient seating area by the patio. My only suggestion is that they add the Amazon Prime app and HBO Max app to their TV home screens so a second device isn't needed to watch TV on these platforms. Convenient spot to stay while traversing the Hudson Valley and Catskills. Would stay again. read more

An improvement would be to not question patrons concerns on evident rodent infestation . With evidence shown to maintenance they were in denial and said "there are many people from all over who stay here and can bring things with them " . Really? Not impressed with this hotel at all! The remodel does look nice, but is unfinished. The room was clean-ish. The headboard had liquid stains all over it, but other than that it was pretty clean! We never once received a cleaning service while we were here for three nights; even though I requested it multiple times. We had to go down to the lobby to get towels. The walls are paper thin, we could hear our neighbor snoring. The heating is not consistent in the room. The room was warm, but then the bathroom area was freezing. Also the heat is on some weird timer where it doesn't run at all when you're gone and only kicks back in when you get back to the room. I appreciate the energy efficiency but not in the winter when the room gets down to the low 60s upon coming back. I just read other reviews about a murder in the lobby, there is an armed police officer stationed there at all times as of now. We found that odd at first, but after seeing the reviews it makes sense now. read more

Hotel options in Poughkeepsie were few and far between. I've had good experiences at Courtyards in other cities, so decided to give it a shot. What's most striking about this particular hotel is the layout. It's only three floors and I was placed on the terrace floor with a sliding glass door that walked out into the parking lot. It wasn't ideal to have people right outside my door, so I would probably be asked to be on the top floor if I ended up here again. In general, the room felt very outdated in design, but had a comfy bed, desk area, TV equipped with the capability to access internet TV, and all the bathroom amenities you may expect. Wifi was free and simple to access. Every Courtyard has a "bistro" area and this was no different. They serve Starbucks drinks and standard food. It was nice to be able to grab yogurt, bananas, and water in the mornings. The lobby also feels updated, with a few computers and plenty of seating. If they took time to update the rooms to be inline with other Courtyards you may find, I could see this being more of a four star experience! read more

Room was lovely at a reasonable price, with a balcony, ice bucket, coffee machine, and iron. Pool and fitness center were closed due to COVID during the summer. The lobby is a spacious and chic lounge with a fireplace surrounded by sunken seating. No microwave in room, there is one downstairs in the lobby where they sell snacks, beer, and toiletries. Had to stay in the area as a family member was being treated for a skiing-related injury at Mid-Hudson Hospital. Another family member, being a doctor and frequent traveler who often stayed in Marriott hotels suggested this place to us. As for the location, it isn't bad. Right off a main highway but the noise is minimal. About 5-10 minutes to get downtown depending on any traffic. The receptionists and housekeeping staff were very nice, accommodating and quick. Hotel lobby had a small market in it for snacks and drinks you could pay for at reception. As for breakfast, although I take it they normally don't serve it, they had warm bagels with cream cheese or butter. Bagel itself wasn't half bad. The room itself was great. The bed was comfortable, the TV was big, modern and worked. The bathroom and shower were both clean, and the shower was hot, with the soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers full. Based off of the other pictures I've been seeing in these reviews, our room was likely either a newer one (Hotel was pretty empty given it was during the week, so perhaps they put us in one of their better rooms) or they did a recent renovation, which could be plausible given they are renovating the exterior as I write this. The only cons to be noted (And yes, these are mostly nitpicky) are a somewhat loud but not unbearably loud climate control unit, a pretty weak bathroom fan, lack of a mini-fridge (Ice bucket is provided however), TV remote was unresponsive a few times and our shower drain could have used a little draino. Overall, good place to stay if you're in the area. Not the Ritz Carlton, but I'm sure it will do. We were extremely disappointed with our recent stay at the Courtyard Marriott in Poughkeepsie. When I booked the reservation on 2/18/22 for a family Bar Mitzvah Friday May 13 through Sunday May 15, I made it clear that we needed two adjoining rooms. I specified adamantly that we were traveling with my 97 year old mother who is legally blind. When we arrived, we were informed that there was NO notation of my request. No adjoining rooms were available. In fact, they could not even give us adjacent rooms since my Mom needed a handicapped room. When we arrived at our rooms, we were shocked to learn that the handicapped room was located very far from the elevator. The adaptations were limited. There was a bar to assist her from the toilet and a lower bar to hang her clothes instead of a closet. However, there was a tub that required her to step over a ledge rather than a walk in tub or shower with a seat. My room came with a walk in shower. In addition, the door to enter the bathroom was extremely heavy making it impossible for my Mom to enter the bathroom. We improvised by using a suitcase to keep the door ajar. The only problem was the bathroom door was right next to the door to enter the room. This made it difficult to enter and leave the room. This is Not what we expect when staying at a Marriott facility. Unfortunately this has altered our opinion of Marriott hotels. We are not likely to book another stay at a Marriott. I hope this review will encourage Marriott to be more sensitive to the needs of their guests in the future. Tina read more

Booked this hotel for an overnight stay in Poughkeepsie. Have to say that the Marriott is becoming a favorite of mine for overnight stays or weekend trips. My recent stay in Philly was exceptional. Thus I reserved again at this Courtyard location. The other reason was it's close proximity to Locust Grove, a beautiful estate which I will review separately. The hotel was very accommodating with a room change. The check in was prompt and courteous. The room was spacious but the best part of the Marriott is the bed accommodations: comfortable above and beyond. I feel like I am literally sleeping on a cloud. This location also has a bistro to dine at( which we didn't) a Starbucks and Market. The Market ( this was a tiny one compared to Philly) has staples to buy and last minute items ( granola bars, grooming products etc) It also has a small but adequate pool and fitness center. The lobby is warm and inviting even though a bit small. There are plasma screens that can map out from 1-10 mile radius where you want to go. The Starbucks here were friendly and served my friend sitting outside in the Courtyard. I mentioned I was celebrating a birthday and my meal was comped which the server did not have to do but was a lovely gesture. The hotel also called a reliable car service which we used for all our destinations ( driver was awesome). In addition, Marriott was near to shopping area that housed Barnes and Noble, Home Goods etc if you wanted to buy other last minute items. Lastly, the location of this Marriott is greatly located near other historic journies: Vanderbilt museum, Walkway on the Hudson, Renaissance Festival( bus that takes you from Poughkeepsie Train station). Nothing to rave about - but all the hotels honesty all look the same - In need of a renovation! Clean but annoyed by loud air conditioner unit. Wallpaper on the walls has to go - orange and yellow at that! Good parking and door access- fine for someone handicap. For them to rave about me being upgraded to a suite was rather a joke- it was a handicap room , ground floor over looking internal garden but honesty the windows had to be closed To avoid anyone seeing in / so room was NOT an appreciated upgrade. read more

Stayed for 5 nights and although they said we'd have housekeeping, housekeeping entailed replacing towels and room was never cleaned. I left an ereader tablet in room and spoke to front desk and they had it. They promised to express it and I gave address and credit card but never received it. I called daily and every day they promised to find out where it was and call me me back but no one ever returned call. Twice they put me on hold and never returned. It's been 3 weeks of daily calls and I've yet to be able to talk to someone who can help me. They had reader they day I left and now no one knows anything about it. When there they apologized for being understaffed but no excuse for not returning calls. read more

The one star is for the sweet housekeeping woman we talked to and the decently renovated rooms and courtyard outside. Other than that the staff here sucks they gave me and my wife a hard time checking in and told me we couldn't have a room with a balcony because the hotel was sold out but the parking lot was literally almost empty. Not worth paying $175 for a small room in the middle of nowhere. If this was NY city yeah sure but really? We didn't drive 4 hours from MA just to be told we can't have a balcony when there was legit one person in the lobby the whole morning we were here. Also checkin at 3pm? we can't even stay here for a whole 24 hours for the price we had to go wait at TGIF down the street till 3 to "check in" because they had no rooms available when there were literally 10 cars in the huge lot. Visited Poughkeepsie for President's Day weekend and stayed at the Courtyard. The hotel and our room were perfect. The entire hotel was renovated over the past year and the exterior is now being renovated. The entire room was nicely furnished and decorated. The price of this place was unreasonable. I was here for a wedding and had booked it through the wedding party, thinking it would behoove us to stay together. Found out, I should have booked elsewhere or through AirBnB. The location was lame, the amenities were minimal, and there were absolutely no attractions in the near vicinity. The service was sub-par at best. For the price, the least they could have done was include complimentary breakfast. The keys kept deactivating or we were given duds and when we informed the staff, they would act like we were making this up. Yes, because I want to go make excuses to visit the check-in counter for kicks- my idea of fun. The worse was the service at the Bistro, where they served breakfast in the lobby. The cashier was a sourpuss and the prices were also outlandish. $8-9 for a Naked "fake" smoothie? Jamba Juice isn't even that expensive, and that's an actual smoothie. If I could give them no stars I would. My stay with them was horrible. My arm was bitten up my first night there. Management said they looked like mosquito bites... they didn't look like mosquito bites and I slept in long sleeves . They were all in one area, red and itch like heck. My issue is not that they had bed bugs, but how the situation was handled. It wasn't handled like I'm accustomed to having things handled. They stated the had someone come in and do an additional inspection, after they told me they would have it done if I wanted it. So honestly I feel that they lied. They conveniently said they had someone come out when they heard from my company. Then I reach out to the elite desk and the hotel is supposed to follow up. No follow up done. That isn't the Marriott bonvoy way. And as long as I am in this area , I'll never stay in this hotel. read more

Horrible, horrible experience at this hotel. Upon booking they never revealed that they would be under construction. All amenities were absent. Couldn't get towels, blankets, pillows. Continental breakfast served stale bagels, two days in a row. Staff had poor customer service skills, maybe they were sick of guests complaining. My husband I were pleased with the accommodations at this property. The grounds are well maintained, landscaping was properly groomed, parking lot clean and well lit. The lobby was updated, clean and cozy. There are many meeting areas that you can gather with family or if your purpose is business related. If your traveling for work and in a pinch, you have the necessary tools to help you reach your goals. We didn't need the any of the bistro or business services this trip and we didn't try the food. There is a nice enough gym to hit a run or weight workout and the pool is inviting. Our room was immaculately clean. Thank you! Sadly the week I was here the front was closed due to construction. When I tried to call the "front desk" they never answered, I litterally had to walk to there temp desk to talk to anyone. My coffee maker didn't work and when I got a new one it was dirty! Also they had a dead bird in the courtyard for 2 days before it was removed...and with the rain it smelled terrible. Lastly my fiancée got shocked by the bike in the gym...it happened twice, it was weird. I didn't even want to stay here but the Residence Inn down the street was fully booked. I've stayed at a lot of Courtyard by Marriott hotels all over the US. This is probably one of the ones in the most need of an updating. It's certainly not horrible, but there are little things that the newer courtyards have - like more outlets! The green and khaki motif is dated too, but I'd rather have a comfortable bed then a hip room with a "taco mattress". Don't forget - all hotels look the same with your eyes closed. Would I stay here again? Given the options in the area - I'd have to really. I'm pretty sure this is as good as it gets for now in Poughkeepsie. read more

Super clean & accommodating! Friendly staff. Only down fall, they have one set of elevators. If you are able to walk a lot then it's no big deal. This hotel left a lot to be desired. The carpets were grungy and the pool appeared to have an oily sheen. The room we were given had a stale odor; the sink area was dusty; and the shower gel dispenser was empty when we arrived. The place could use a thorough cleaning and an overall upgrade. The only area that seemed updated was the lobby lounge area and bistro. Incidentally, when we arrived we were told the bistro would not be open that evening because they were short staffed. The worst part of our stay was how poorly we were treated by the employee that checked us in. He was not welcoming and treated us with contempt. He was snarky and condescending and I dreaded having to deal with him again during our 2-night stay. Unfortunately, we saw him the next evening and were not treated any better. Needless to say if we ever visit the area again, we will not be staying at this hotel. read more

I agree with most of the reviews by everyone. The "basic Marriott you-could-be anywhere decor and standard amenities" describe it well. Stayed with friends here and they were little copies of each other. There was a family staying next door and could hear every word they said. I don't like having to work around other people's schedules I don't know. They went to bed at midnight and woke up at 7. I know because I heard them and their screaming kids. It's a nice touch they have free wifi but it's slow. I tested it and I got as good as a dial-up connection speed. TV's are nice but no HD didn't make it worth watching. It was the highest price in the area but with the reviews other places in Poughkeepsie got this is a top tier place. The beds were comfortable and the room served it's purpose. read more
