Days Inn by Wyndham Poughkeepsie is now Quality Inn/ Rodeway Way Inn. For my past experiences with Quality Inn, they have always been positive. I have always enjoyed their complimentary breakfast and clean rooms. But after staying here, I have learned not all Quality Inns are the same. This location was horrible and would not recommend anyone to stay here. I stayed here with my husband for one night, from Friday evening to Saturday. When we checked in on Friday evening, this employee did not greet us when we came in. She just stared at me until I told her we were here to check in. Instead of asking me for my ID, she said "ID". She did not tell us what time breakfast hours would be the next day and there are no signs posted in the lobby or in our room (but figured breakfast would at least be available between 8-9 am so I make sure to wake up in time and head over to get some the next morning). After she issued me my 2 card keys, she just said to go around back to the room. I had to ask her to clarify and then I headed to my car and drove over to our room. I don't know what her problem was but I think I could have used a little less of the attitude. It is clear that this employee doesn't really care about her job (nor did the different employee I interacted with the next morning at the front desk). We got a king size bed. The room itself was clean from first glance and the room was spacious enough. But later on, I found some yellow stains on the comforter we used... The bathroom was really cramp. The toilet seat had stains on it that did not come out with alcohol wipes. I hung my towel on the hanger in the outside closet so that it would be easier for me to dry my hands than to close the door to use the towel on the door hook. The next morning, I was incredibly disappointed with the breakfast. The breakfast had small cups of Activia yogurt (maybe 2 oz, not the larger 4 oz size), cold cereal you dispense yourself, milk and assorted bread/ pastry (small selection). The waffle machine was broken. The coffee machine was also not working. Another guest had asked about the waffle machine and the employee at the front desk said that other guests turn it off and on, which is why it doesn't work. When the same guest had asked about the coffee, the employee had said it wasn't plugged in, which is why it wasn't working. But she did not bother to plug it in to have it work... It was annoying to hear excuses from this employee while I tried to figure out what I wanted to get for breakfast (honestly, I ended up just getting 2 of the yogurts and went back to my room and then ended up going somewhere else for breakfast after I checked out). This employee had the same attitude as the other employee the night before, in which she was very apathetic and didn't care. She didn't apologize or offer a solution. The only thing possibly going for this hotel is the price. I was surprised to see how expensive hotels are in Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie. This was one of the more affordable locations, but was still pricey for what we got. If you can stay somewhere else or keep on driving to the next city to save some money, don't stay here. read more

you're very disrespectful, you cannot eat breakfast in your room but you can have deliveries sent to your room. I was on a voucher and I was so disrespected that I could not use the pool or the laundry facilities. I got dirty looks for using the coffee machine in the morning, the cleaning people wereVery distant would not clean unless I asked for three towels and I still have a problem. I would never come here again. I smell nothing but marijuana in the air, and you got people coming in our rooms all day and night long you can't get any sleep with slamming doors. This place is a scam. Charge incidentals more than $80. And it will be on your actual billing. Not on pending. Actual bill !!!!! First time I called. They told me 7 to 10 business days. Which is normal. Second time I called them. Guess what? It "upgrades". 14 business days!!! Who has that time to keep tracking the bill. If you don't call or keep tracking. They might just take it. The only reason why I'm giving them a 3 and not anything higher is because it's good quality for the amount paid, but not the best hotel I've been to by far. The receptionist was kind, but quiet. She informed us where all the accommodations where (breakfast, pool, etc) The room itself is nice! I didn't see any pictures of the most expensive room here, but from the size of all the others I'd say it's well worth paying extra. The only three complaints I had about this place was 1) there was a ants in the bathroom when we arrived (not too many to kill myself) 2) the bathroom is kind of small, but it's really not that big of a deal. 3) there's a generator sound that isn't too bothersome for me but it may be for others. Overall I'd say it's a good area, didn't feel unsafe from my car to the room and there's plenty of places to go around to. (Burger Fi was great!) if you're looking for a relatively affordable room go here. I'd definitely suggest the upgraded room though. read more

Lack of communication from staff about accommodations and fees. Upon checking in I had to listen to excuses to why rooms aren't ready. And she in an attempt to satisfy, we were upgraded for unclear reasons. On the website states Pet Friendly but I see no fee associated with pets stay. The following morning around 8:30 AM. Housekeeping knocks on the door, next thing I know front desk is calling about the dog being in this room. Like I'm to know what rooms the dog can be in or not. Again I called to discuss charges and I'm told more excuses as to the situations of the hotel. This location lacks listening, tact, guest skills, and overall communication. Not to mention navigating the cluttered halls of housekeeping carts and garbage for the night before. To add to this, the manager responds to email placing fault on me and that his staff failed to conduct themselves properly. Failed! If I could give minus stars I would. read more

Hello. It was a good location with nice maids, it was clean & comfortable but the notepad was a mess! Only 5 sheets on one notepad, had to wait till the next day for another notepad which still only had 5 sheets. I thought maybe the notepad only had 5 sheets because they forgot to restock it BUT NOPE! The same amount was given to me the next day. Will they change this issue?! My husband and I traveled to Poughkeepsie from Boston for an event on 1/22/2011. I would not have chosen this hotel, but the hotel that I originally had booked, Hilton Garden Inn in Fishkill / Poughkeepsie, messed up our reservation, forcing us to quickly "pick out" a hotel. We arrived at the Days Inn and were given room 215. DO NOT stay in this room - or in any room! It was just horrible! There were a myriad of problems in the room, and no others were available. Here's a list for you: 1. The bottom sheet on the bed was torn...where the corner elastic is on the fitted part of the sheet. 2. The furniture was not only ancient, but "broken" - the dresser was missing the front piece of the drawer. The chair in the room was ripped, showing the stained foam filling, the chairs at the table had broken springs in them, for when you sat down in them, you nearly hit the floor. 3. The bathroom. Where do I start? I could stretch my arms out and touch 2 walls - and I'm short! You could NOT move in this bathroom, which had cracked, dirty floor tiles, and a nasty, stained toilet seat. Ugh. 4. Could not sleep on the thin, worn sheets and blanket. The bedspread immediately came off the bed and was put in the corner - lord knows what was on that spread! Eww! 5. To add to us not being able to sleep, there was also a very noisy group of people in the room next door to us. The walls were so thin, we could hear every F-Bomb that was being dropped, along with some creative uses of the word. They were banging on the walls, yelling, swearing, and at one point, it sounded like thy were literally pounding on our door - seriously! I was scared! They kept up their stupidity until around 5:00 AM! All in all - this place sucks. Do not stay here. You'd fare better sleeping in your car! EWW - YUK - UGH! read more

GO ELSEWHERE!!! Wa mart is right down the road and they sell tents. Closet/bathroom, first place I stayed at where you could s**t, shower and shave all at once. No coffee or microwave. You would get a better continental breakfast at the rescue mission. Internet works then doesn't, vary random connection could be from the permanent residents staying here. Yikes. This is probably the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. First off, they have SMOKING rooms, which is a horrifying red flag. The walls are mildewy, beds are lumpy, blankets have cigarette burns and holes, carpet is stained, toilet is rickety...and it sounded like someone was spraying a power hose on the roof all night, despite us being in the wing with only one floor. They have like 10 wifi networks but I couldn't get access to any of them from our room. And the kicker is that it's expensive! $200 for what shouldn't be more than $70. Can't speak for the breakfast or other facilities because after the disaster of the room I was afraid to try them. It's really unfortunate this is the closest hotel to Vassar--I will never stay here again! read more

I feel like I need to defend the Days Inn Poughkeepsie a bit, since most of the reviews online are moderate to negative. I booked a room here on Hotwire for MLK weekend in January, which is probably a slow time for hotels so I got the room for a great price. I went into the weekend with a little bit of hesitation, since the reviews I had read were pretty lackluster. I'm happy to say that I did not need to worry at all and had a good experience at this hotel! The room was comfortable, clean, and spacious. I appreciated the microwave and mini-fridge, and the TV had full cable + HBO. The bed and chairs were comfortable and the room was quiet at night. Here are my only two complaints: the showerhead in the room was old and didn't work well, and the pillows on the bed were kind of undersized and crappy. But that's really it as far as complaints from me. The employees at the front desk were all very helpful and friendly. The hotel has some nice amenities, like an indoor pool and a pretty decent continental breakfast every morning. The location is great too -- it's centrally located to almost everything you'd want to do in Poughkeepsie or Hyde Park. I would definitely stay here again. read more

While working at nearby Pharmacy this week, a lovely French women visiting Vassar asked if we could recommend an anti-itch lotion for her rash. Her arms and legs were covered with bites. I attended a function in town and being from California, I didn't want to take a chance staying at a hotel/motel with a name I wasn't familiar with so that's why I chose Days Inn. The quality of this Days Inn is pretty consistent with others in the chain. The only issues I had were there was no elevator to my room on the second floor (but I was offered help with my luggage) and the in-room refrigerator woke me up at 3 something in the morning hence when I'm writing this review. Let me start by saying that I do not stay at hotels like a Days Inn expecting it to be the Ritz or Hilton. It irritates me when travelers have unrealistic expectations. If you want $300 per night comfort and amenities then you should be willing to dish out the money. For the price, I found this hotel to be just what we needed. Pros: nice staff, close to Vassar College, free basic breakfast, clean small indoor pool, clean bathroom, updated room, A/C worked very well, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. Cons: Wifi was terrible, the breakfast area was small and other guests were pushing people out of the way, the street it is on can be a little rough in some spots (but the hotel feels safe), parking seems limited for the amount of rooms. The service was very friendly, the breakfast was modest but satisfying. We stayed for 2 nights in one room an ended up having to extend our stay, we were moved to another room for the last night. Our rooms had a strange smell, like someone was trying to mask a bad smell of something. There was no conditioner and only one tiny bottle of shampoo for 3 people. Also had only 2 towels. On the bright side ... Our bed sheets were clean and so were our towels. If you have a choice stay in the rooms that are not part if the main building, they are quieter. Similar to another reviewer, I'd rather spend $180 on a premium tent and sleep outside than at the room we were put in at the Days Inn. Beware of room 214! Due to everywhere in the area being full, we found an open room here, and it was a smoking room, which I wasn't thrilled with but figured for one night it would be fine. It was absolutely AWFUL. The smell of the room was so terrible from smoke, I had to keep my clothes out in the car so they wouldn't smell. I feel like I got second hand smoke from the room alone, and keeping the windows and door open didn't help one bit. The bathroom was atrocious. Not only was it outdated and yellow (perhaps from the smoke!), but it was the size of a crawl space. You can easily touch both walls at the same time by spanning your arms. You also had to hold the toilet lever in order for it to slowly flush. It was terrible. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Perhaps a non-smoking room with a functional bathroom could be better, but I won't be back to find out! read more

I have always been a guest of days inn until I stayed at this location. The front staff did not accommodate any of our needs. All I asked for was a blanket and a cot. They made a huge deal about this and did not help us out at all and one of my family members had to sleep on the floor. I hope a district manager sees this post and re trains their staff the correct way. read more

Well Yelp has always helped me in my quests, so I figured Id write a review as I lay in my bed here at Days Inn Poughkeepsie. Basically you get what you pay for. PROS: Inexpensive Breakfast (cereal, coffee, bread products, juice. Better fill up.) Micro,fridge, safe, iron in "business rooms" Desk clerk was friendly, but was having a bad day on Day 2 Fairly clean, quiet Business center College nearby with shops and restaurants CONS: A bit dated Peeling wallpaper BIG long hair in bathroom Coffee like from gas stations Hood nearby Desk clerk was on cell and eating dinner at front desk. I checked in with an agreed rate for two nights, then I was asked to change rooms for the second night and then they tried to raise the rate for the second night on an inferior room. General manager, Mark, was arrogant and condescending, and should not be working in hospitality (he should go back to selling used cars). I feel sorry for his employees. A usual 2-day jaunt for business brought me to an unknown area. Another strange configuration for a hotel. It is like a horseshoe with another separate 2 level building in the middle. I was on the "second" floor with rooms in the 300s... ? yeah, weird. Apparently this is not the nicest slice o' pie in the upstate NY area so the only way to get in the building is the front door... which turned out OK as my room was right up the stairs off the lobby (and often there was a local cop parked in the lot). I had a business room (for whatever that's worth) and it was clean and well kept. All the facilities worked well (TV channels posted right on standing placard by the TV.. kudos, one of my dumb pet peeves). The heating/cooling is about as basic as you can get (2 settings for heat, 2 for cool - but it worked so I can't complain) I must say the shower was awesome (I'll forgive the towel rack in the actual shower space...grrr). It was one of those adjustable nozzle types allowing a thunderous torrent of hot goodness to massage my back after a long day of baby sitting a grocery store opening (which was literally 2 minutes away by car - schwing!) Lots of fast food around if you wanted, a dunkin not too far, a diner (hey - I AM from jersey, we speak diner...) and pizza Uno just across the street. The wiFi was about one step above hot rancid sticky dead-cat garbage... OOKLA test : spectrum ping 35ms, download speed 1.93 mbps, upload 0.46mbps So, no getting any real work done... bummer. All the staff I encountered were friendly and nice. The lobby and grounds were all nice as well. I didn't have a chance to check out any of the other facilities like the petting zoo, equine stables or log flume but maybe next time... All in all your typical Days Inn but for an extended business stay I need seriously better internet but not a bad place at all. read more

First night of two didn't seem so bad. It's an older motel with a sad remodel. They asked at check in if I wanted a free upgrade to a business suite so I said yes. Breakfast was sad but had the standard waffle maker. Second night I come back from the travel job I'm working talking with my girl on phone and notice something crawling on the bed. Took a couple snaps and squashed it with a tissues a few times before it died. Thank good for iPhone resolution. I Googled bedbug and it was a textbook bedbug. I'm feeling itchy and packed my bag. Since I had one night I asked to be moved to a different room on a different floor which I did. The guy at the front desk swore they never had that complaint so I showed him my picture. He then gave me a different room but asked me to check it first. I'm jumping in the shower because I feel itchy and creeped out thinking about it. This hotel is unhygienic and the staff is beyond unprofessional and rude. They took our reservation and when we showed up, they tried to put us in a room that was filthy and reeked of smoke and pot. They refused to change us into another room saying that they were fully booked and only after we left because we could not stand to be in that room for another second they called us back saying 'another room just opened up'. Needless to say we did not go back - these people will get your money and not be accountable for ANYTHING. Hotels.com tried to get me a refund by the manager at the Days Inn refused. Stay away from this place. They are terrible and should be shut down. You will probably walk away with bedbugs or some other bacteria and they will refuse to take any responsibility for your misfortune read more

Brought my family up to Poughkeepsie from Alabama for a few days. Decided to stay here because it was conveniently located across the road from our favorite northern eating spot, UNO, and it was not my brightest idea. Initially everything seemed great because we were slightly intoxicated ALOT. As we all started to sober up things started reaching perspective. First thing we realized as it started getting stuffy was the air wasn't working. Then my cold natured father in the other room noticed his heat didn't work. So after investigating the HVAC systems in BOTH rooms we noticed that both had the power disconnected the same way. We called the front desk numerous times and got the same BS response. "Wait 30-40 minutes to see if it warms up." WHAT?!?! What about the cold air? YES I KNOW ITS 27 degrees outside. So I asked for a different room for my dad and they gave us a "business room" for him. It was night and day nicer then ours. Soooo I'm assuming you have to request heat and air with your RSVP. Had a room in outer building (not main building). No heat or a/c control. Luckily it was early fall and no need for either. Here was an 1/8 inch gap at bottom of door to outside. Would be awful jn colder months. Nonsmoking room but smelled of stale smoke. Some late night customers gave the place a vague quality of possible quiet drug or prostitution use. Generally felt safe though. In an under-inhabited commercial area on the edge of a residential neighborhood bordering vassar college (about 5 blocks away -- 15 min slow walk). I am not sure I would want to stay here at night alone as a single woman but I'm in the cautious side. read more

I booked this hotel well in advance of my stay. I was given a smoking room though I am not a smoker. Front desk clerk claimed third party requested it on my behalf which is untrue. Now they are not able to accommodate me because hotel was sold out nor will they compensate me in another way. I would not recommend it to others despite its proximity to the college. It's not a 5-star hotel, but I can't really complain about anything. It's small, and the furniture isn't the newest, but it really wasn't a big deal. Everything was perfectly clean, the bed was fine, and nothing felt gross at all. Breakfast was fine (bagels, bread/toaster, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, eggs, cereal). I didn't hear any noises at night, there is ample lighting in the room, and the wifi was ok (I wouldn't download 5 movies but it worked). When I arrived there were some shady looking 20-something's hanging around, but nothing happened. I was happy to (and I recommend you) stay in the main building because of this (I was in a king/nonsmoking), but I didn't hear any noises at night, and nothing actually happened. Overall, it's not the cheapest hotel in the area, but it's not a dump either. I think the staff here does a good job, and it's maintained alright. If you're on a budget and need a quick place to stay, but don't want a dump, this is fine. If I need another 1 night stay in this area, I'd stay here again. read more
