Breakfast is a culinary delight of the senses. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The common areas welcome you to sit in the sunroom, by the fire, or in a private outdoor nook to read, have a drink, or watch a thunderstorm or some softly falling snow. Tea, water, Nespresso, and coffee are always available along with some delectable baked delight. Nancy is always full of great ideas for things to do and places to eat. A walk or bike on the nearby rail trail to the river is always beautiful. This is our place to reset, recharge, and relax.

I say that in the most respectful way and only mean to say that I'm guessing the whole shebang would be next to nothing without her touch, her oversight and her attention to detail. The detail in the rooms, the perfection at breakfast, the lovingly manicured grounds, assorted wonderful nooks... at first I was wondering what there is to DO in Highland and, to be honest, I'm still not sure... but given the bike path, beautiful scenery and Inn At Twaalfkill, I'm not sure what else you need. I'm not always a fan of B and Bs... they can tend to be a little twee and you feel like you have to tiptoe around... partially because the walls in a good hotel are much thicker, the spaces less cramped, your anonymity more protected. There may be a bit of that tip-toeing here (the floors are pretty squeaky and you are worried that you are making too much noise for someone on a different sleeping schedule) but that is the only downside. We had just spent two nights in a pretty nice hotel in Beacon. The room was over 50% more expensive than here and, while large enough, there was not one square foot of horizontal space to put anything down in the bathroom.... The room at Inn at Twaalfill had so much guest-friendly space (especially in the bathroom), you would not likely have a use for all of it. If all B&Bs were this great and this price, I would never stay anywhere else.

If you've never stayed at a Home2Suites by Hilton, they are one of my favorite of Hilton's brands. The rooms are always well appointed and spacious and the interiors have a modern feel. For my stay, I stayed in a king suite, which includes a nice sitting area, mobile desk, large screen TV, kitchenette (with refrigerator, dishes, dishwasher, sink, and microwave), and convenient closet for hanging clothing items and dresser for folded items. The staff here work hard to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible, including texting a few times to check in throughout to ensure you're enjoying your stay. Like most Hilton's, they have a snack shop in the lobby area with a self serve check out (where you can charge it to your room or to your card). I appreciate this so I can get a little something to eat on days where I'm spending a lot of time in the hotel working. The parking lot is well lit and felt safe. I was able to park in front under lights on both occasions that I stayed here. Get to it!

First, they are pet-friendly. We have a small dog, so this was important to us. There was a $75 charge posted online, but it was actually $125 because we were staying so long (so ask about this if you have a longer stay planned). There are dog waste stations on either side of the property, which is nice. The room itself was very spacious. We had a room adjacent to the stairwell so it was a bit bigger than most...instead of having the curtain separator, we had a separate wall to the bedroom, allowing for privacy when one of us needed to work or have a call. The rooms have dishes, a microwave, and a full-sized refrigerator, along with a dining room table, a couch, and a large bathroom. There's no heat source in the room, but you're able to check out a burner or check out utensils to use the grills outside. I am ashamed to say we didn't use the pool, but it's available. There's a workout room we used, and then lots of common seating to eat meals or take calls. Breakfast is another highlight. The menu is similar, but rotates: there are croissants, egg, some sort of meat, and a few types of cheese, along with one of three unique aiolis/sauces. Because we were there so long, breakfast got old for us, but for a weekend trip, you won't notice repetition. There's a waffle maker and fresh yogurt to help with variety. I would actually eat breakfast and then make a yogurt parfait with walnuts and granola to enjoy as an afternoon snack. For longer stays, stays with several guests in one room, or if you love having (more than a continental) breakfast included, this is a great choice!

Days Inn by Wyndham Poughkeepsie is now Quality Inn/ Rodeway Way Inn…read more For my past experiences with Quality Inn, they have always been positive. I have always enjoyed their complimentary breakfast and clean rooms. But after staying here, I have learned not all Quality Inns are the same. This location was horrible and would not recommend anyone to stay here. I stayed here with my husband for one night, from Friday evening to Saturday. When we checked in on Friday evening, this employee did not greet us when we came in. She just stared at me until I told her we were here to check in. Instead of asking me for my ID, she said "ID". She did not tell us what time breakfast hours would be the next day and there are no signs posted in the lobby or in our room (but figured breakfast would at least be available between 8-9 am so I make sure to wake up in time and head over to get some the next morning). After she issued me my 2 card keys, she just said to go around back to the room. I had to ask her to clarify and then I headed to my car and drove over to our room. I don't know what her problem was but I think I could have used a little less of the attitude. It is clear that this employee doesn't really care about her job (nor did the different employee I interacted with the next morning at the front desk). We got a king size bed. The room itself was clean from first glance and the room was spacious enough. But later on, I found some yellow stains on the comforter we used... The bathroom was really cramp. The toilet seat had stains on it that did not come out with alcohol wipes. I hung my towel on the hanger in the outside closet so that it would be easier for me to dry my hands than to close the door to use the towel on the door hook. The next morning, I was incredibly disappointed with the breakfast. The breakfast had small cups of Activia yogurt (maybe 2 oz, not the larger 4 oz size), cold cereal you dispense yourself, milk and assorted bread/ pastry (small selection). The waffle machine was broken. The coffee machine was also not working. Another guest had asked about the waffle machine and the employee at the front desk said that other guests turn it off and on, which is why it doesn't work. When the same guest had asked about the coffee, the employee had said it wasn't plugged in, which is why it wasn't working. But she did not bother to plug it in to have it work... It was annoying to hear excuses from this employee while I tried to figure out what I wanted to get for breakfast (honestly, I ended up just getting 2 of the yogurts and went back to my room and then ended up going somewhere else for breakfast after I checked out). This employee had the same attitude as the other employee the night before, in which she was very apathetic and didn't care. She didn't apologize or offer a solution. The only thing possibly going for this hotel is the price. I was surprised to see how expensive hotels are in Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie. This was one of the more affordable locations, but was still pricey for what we got. If you can stay somewhere else or keep on driving to the next city to save some money, don't stay here.

It is still very close to anywhere in Poughkeepsie. Everybody At the hotel was friendly and helpful. The entire property, including the room and the bathroom was spotless The TV got a good picture, and the beds were very comfortable. There was a microwave and a large fridge The hot breakfast in the morning was very good. Eggs, breakfast meat, yogurt, hot and cold cereal, the usual suspects. The hotel is right next to a set of rapids, and there's a beautiful view from the breakfast room. The only two minor things that caused me to take off a star, is that first of all, unlike most best westerns we have stayed at, this one has no guest Laundry. We had to send ours out into town. Secondly, there is a computer for guest use, but when I tried to use it, there was no mouse. The desk clerk looked around, couldn't find it, and just told me, "I guess there's no mouse. It's hard to use the computer without a mouse. Other than those two minor things, it was a good stay. The price was very reasonable. Never saw a breakfast like this. Two raisin bagels, not waffle batter, no eggs and breakfast meat,…read moreno yogurt. No NOTHING. And it is not because they had a huge crowd come through. When we arrived there was heavy smoke coming out of the the toaster. HEAVY! No alarms. Told the staff member and she just looked at me blankly.
