Had a great time with the family! I suck at bowling but glad my daughter's first time at bowling went as well as it did. Thanks Patel!

The…read morewhole place has strong retro vibes, and it really feels like stepping back in time in the best way. One thing to know going in is that their open lane hours can be a bit particular, so it's definitely worth checking ahead before you go. It seems like they cater a lot to league play, which makes sense given the community feel. I see people online complain about their lack of availability and if you do a quick search or look at their signage, you can see they have very limited open lane hours. The space itself is surprisingly roomy, with plenty of seating, and I appreciated that people actually respect the rules. No food or outside shoes in the bowling area, and everyone seemed to follow that without issue. Open bowling prices are very cheap. Just be aware it's cash or check only, though there is an ATM on site. Again, just check the hours because as of this review they are only open for a few hours one day a week. One of my favorite little touches is that they print out your games at the end. It's simple, but it adds to that nostalgic feel. Overall, it's not a flashy place, but that's kind of the point. If I lived closer, I'd probably come here regularly just to practice. It's a solid, affordable, old-school bowling spot.

Didn't get very busy when we were there. They print out your games at the end. Cash or check AND they have an ATM. An entire star is for the music! Better version of Chuck E Cheese…read more The best part of the trip to Xtreme Play was the strapped in aerial obstacle course. Geared towards the younger crowd, adults can partake in the play which was pretty cool. There was enough excitement from the various obstacles to provide a thrill, old and young alike. This was definitely the highlight of the entertainment center. Safety wasn't an issue and there was enough supervision even with the additional risks. There are many arcade games but 1/3 of the games seemed to be out of order for my trip. Not sure if that is because of the package my group paid for. Honestly most of the games were stale. The bumper cars were of the kiddie variety and used levers for movement instead of a steering wheel so it was a little less bump which takes away some of the fun. The overall drive space was smaller so the bumps were more like nudges. The scary 3D movie experience also didn't provide the thrill I was expecting. The aroma of buttery popcorn is very prevalent everywhere in the center, so much so that I swear it's on purpose to make you buy popcorn. The pizza was not impressive but I suppose standard for the course. During my visit the wait for the concession lines were really long. The floors were well cleaned and maintained which is a nice change from the normal food stained floors of most kiddie entertainment centers.

Considering the fact that 3 hours of unlimited attractions is $43 on its own, the Level Up package is a deal! Plus, I don't have to limit my kids' activities so everyone is happy. My boys loved the Dark Ride, which is an interactive ride with shooting elements, and the bumper cars. There was also a ropes course, rock wall, ninja warrior course, and a ballocity play area. The only bummer was that the mini bowling was out of order, and I know my sons would have loved that.

The bowling alley is usually pretty tame, lanes are easy to bowl on. For a local house, it usually boils down to the patrons for me, and I find that the crowd here is usually less distracting than at other alleys in the area. Usually haha. At the very least, I almost never get nasty looks here when I ask people to stop picking up my bowling balls, unlike at some other bowling alleys -_- Paterno's Pro Shop is where it's at! I've been to a couple of pro shops both local and out of state, but my experiences have been average at best. I'm not young, but I was definitely new to bowling, and I feel like I've been absolutely traumatized and discouraged to bowl by other pro shops. I feel like the local pro shop is vital in keeping the sport alive for new and young and upcoming bowlers. If you aren't welcoming to new folks, the sport will die, and it will be your fault. As soon as I stepped into Paterno's, the folks in the shop made me feel at ease. Everyone greeted me with a smile, and there was zero pressure to talk about making a purchase. In fact, the owner Phil advised against me purchasing a new ball until I figured out my style more. Phil spent so much time with me to try to help me get better at the game, without pressuring me to buy any fancy new, expensive gear. Instead of having me purchase a new ball, he worked with me to re-drill my existing ball at the time (for much, much cheaper) to better fit my hand and throw style. He passed on an easy sale so that I could salvage a ball I'd already spent $$$ on! Now I've been coming to this shop for a few months now and have bought balls for both myself and my mom from them. Phil and crew are so friendly and welcoming, and are always happy to make time to chit chat and give tips. This is the Pro Shop experience I'd heard so much about from my tournament-bowler friends... and this is where I send all my friends and anyone I meet who is looking for a local pro shop!

Let's talk about last night…read more We came here to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday with a party of 10. When we first arrived, we were greeted by the employee at the front counter, who was friendly and seemed to be in a good mood. We paid $107 for an hour of bowling and headed to our lanes. About five minutes later, management approached us and said that one of our teenagers had called an employee the N-word. We were told we had to leave immediately and that we would not receive a refund. We were completely shocked. We had no idea what they were talking about, so we tried to understand what had happened. During the discussion, we were told the police had been called. At that point, I gathered my family and waited near the entrance for the officers. We asked for some explanation, security footage, or any details about the alleged incident, but we were told the employee was too upset to come out and explain what had happened. I want to give credit to the officers from the Wappingers police department, they handled the situation professionally and took the time to listen to both sides. After speaking with us and then with the employee, it became clear that she had overheard one of the teenagers using the N-word while talking among themselves, not directing it at her. That is a very different situation from what we were originally accused of. The officer then asked management to contact the owner about refunding our money, and thankfully we did receive a full refund. We left and spent the rest of the evening somewhere else. My biggest issue isn't that someone was offended, it's how the situation was handled. Before getting the facts, management accused our family of directing a racial slur at an employee, called the police, and attempted to remove us without a refund. That was embarrassing and upsetting for everyone involved. I left feeling that the situation was handled far too quickly without a proper investigation or giving our family an opportunity to explain what had actually happened. I hope management reviews its procedures so future customers are treated more fairly before such serious accusations are made.
