For this reason, I decided to go with an Arnold Bennet skillet that included smoked trout. If you at all like the thought of lox and eggs, then you definitely need to try this one. It also had Parmesan, chives, and crème fraiche mixed in. The taste of this combination on a piece of toast was delicious! And something I would happily enjoy again and at reasonable prices. Plus, it was enough food that I finished it for breakfast the next morning. The seating area looks and feels like a typical NY diner. Our waitress was quick and efficient and the coffee was good and fresh. Especially with the limited number of dining locations in the Catskills area, Phoenicia diner is definitely worth a stop.

The revueltas is bean, pork mixed: recommend that one. We did 2 of those and 1 spinach and it was perfect. We also got huevos y pancakes. The pancakes for some reason I feel like they make it similar to the papusas cuz it was like thinly sliced. Ain't nothing by wrong with that - just noticing. I liked it thin cuz it was filling enough to get our sweet kick. Service was on point. They got a small bar which was cool. Inside there is a few seating and you could probably bring a stroller but honestly just bring the car seat and put it in one of the chairs. Once I saw papusas on the menu compared to the typical benedict bs at other restaurants with the flower and string light, and cursive chalk board writing menus, I was like babe we gotta go here for breakfast lmao. Hella random but Google said this spot was busier than usual and there was like 2 tables seated when we got there. Not a knock on this spot at all - just don't trust everything your phone tells you besides what I write into the ether that is the internet for my Yelp reviews. Ok ADHD rant done.

But somewhere in the last few months, the kitchen's lost its touch. Two weeks ago my pasta came out looking rich and promising, but the cheese had clearly been melted ages before- cold, congealed and sad by the time it hit the table. I had to send it back just to get it warmed. Then came their famous chocolate ganache balls we love with strawberry coulis. Except now, the scoops are deformed with zero coulis and replaced with caramel instead. Why change something that worked so well? Hubs and I thought maybe it was just an off night. Came back Halloween weekend with my daughter, hoping for some sort of redemption. Nope. Same story. Plus the Vegetarian hand pies my kid and I ordered were cold. The only thing still holding this place up is the nice menu selections that only reads well on paper and for sure, their cocktails: strong and creative.-

They had indoor and outdoor seating. They also had a very nice pool table.

The steak was very good, much better than I expected, and came just as I ordered, medium. I also ordered broccoli rabe because I just didn't really believe they had it. We were tucked away in an indoor/outdoor area with gorgeous orange comfy chairs. We did not come in with a reservation. Again this place was a stumbled upon gem. We looked online for a nice place to go for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. He loves moose and we love farm to table food. The server helped us decide what to get for drinks, both delicious. The food.....holy cow. Heavenly. Our two meals tasted so vastly different so it was great that we were each able to sample the other's and they were both SO tasty. We asked our server for a special dessert for his birthday, she asked if we liked bananas and we enthusiastically said yes. Next thing we know, this decadent warm banana and caramel creation is coming towards us with a giant sparkler. This was probably hands down....one of the best desserts I have ever had in my life. Waiter was new and didn't know when to bring the check. He waited 90 minutes too long to do so. We were there almost 3 hours. So if you must go, and I would NOT recommend you do so, bring your wallet but leave your appetite at home. The bill was $80 per person, and we didn't have drinks. That was just one appetizer each and an entree.

Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.
