    Pancakes......terrible
    Darlene T.

I really thought I was going to like this place.....unfortunately, I did not. We ordered the pancakes, the poblano skillet and a side of chicken sausage. Nothing crazy. The pancakes came out cold. Our waitress never came back so we had to ask another waiter to help us return them. When the new pancakes came, they were just barely warm. Clearly they were all premade and just sitting under a heat lamp until ready to serve. Just don't put pancakes on the menu then. I liked my dish but it was really the service that was terrible. We wanted to order another drink and she never came back. We had to flag her down to order another one. It was just crazy because it was almost like we were bothering her. Mind you we sat when no one was there and they didn't get "busy" until 45 mins after we had arrived. It was not busy...The view was the best part.

Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic view. Beautiful ambience with fireplaces and cozy nooks. Everything is farm to table and you even drive by their garden and chicken coop in the way in. The staff was very attentive. A wonderful place to eat.

I feel like this place is underrated based on these Yelp reviews. If you're looking for an upscale dinner experience in this area, this was by far the best place we ate at during our stay at Hunter. We got the winter salad, duck entree, and sea bass market fish special which were all really delicious, and plated SO beautifully. The cocktails were very tasty with just the right amount of sweetness. And our dessert was one of the most unique things we've ever seen, matcha mouse coated in a chocolate shell over a horchata slush with puffed rice on top. My husband was raving about it, and he barely likes any dessert. Even my kids were happy, as they had a solid kids menu and our waitress tipped us off to s'mores making happening upstairs on the back deck afterwards. I was impressed overall and will be back if ever in the area again, and maybe even stay at the lodge next time.

10/10 spot. The views of the mountains were fantastic. The outside area does get a little a buggy towards sundown but who cares when you're surrounded by all this nature. The inside of the restaurant is also very gorgeous. We started off with drinks. My boyfriend got an old fashioned and I got a mocktail called "Paradise is Burning." It was quite possibly THE BEST non-alcoholic beverage I've ever had in my life. The fish tacos were absolutely DELICIOUS. They were so juicy. The burgers were also pretty fire. The service was great. Our hostess and waitress were all very attentive and friendly. I'm so happy I found this place. You definitely need to come here if you're coming to the Catskills. I'll be visiting again in the future.

Food, drinks, service, and ambiance was 10/10. The flavor of our dinner meals (green herb app, linguine, and burger) were ones to remember. Highly recommend!

Best meal in hunter. Fresh homemade pasta. Good service, great ambiance, seasonal menu. In scribners lodge if you're just here to dine I recommend staying here some time too. It's a dog friendly hotel BUT weirdly dogs were not allowed inside the restaurant, we had to sit outside with the pup

Wow wow wow . Usually when I go skiing I get excited about the snow and prepare my body to feast on bad chicken tender and stale resort fries. Scribner's lodge's restaurant prospect kept me full and fulfilled. Dinner was quite the alpine experience. We tried milk punch for the first time- a must, it was a dangerously delicious drink. Venison tartare is a must-- if you have never tried venison this will probably be the best venison you'll ever eat in your life. As someone who doesn't mess with gamey meats, this venison did not play any games! Brassicas with fried garlic chips- so tart, so rich and we'll balanced! A great leftover. NY strip- well cooked, huge portion and tender! Chicken- deliciously moist with crispy skin and the wild mushrooms were a great palate addition. I didn't get dessert because we were too stuffed but I'm sure I would've been blown away. Breakfast was on another level. Cornbread pancakes will have you feelin some type of way. Usually I enjoy a breakfast platter with 1/2 a pancake, but with these I had to stop myself after 2 to save some for my boyfriend. This pancake would break TikTok if the chef put it on. They are so soft/ light/ with the gritty texture of corn and a little bit sweet. I didn't even need the syrup! The whipped cream was balls to the walls insanely go with fresh vanilla beans!!!! Breakfast platter, all good quality ingredients. Eat this and you will be ready to hit the slopes until apres ski time.

Good drinks, views, and great food! This was a great first night at hunter mountain. I'm pretty sure the entire group wished we were staying at the hotel after this meal. We majorly over ordered: salads, cheese plates, hamburgers, pasta & so much more! I enjoyed the one rose they had & wish we could have stayed for s'mores in the front (too bad we were too full).

My fiancée and I had a wonderful dinner here during our trip to the Catskills. I made the reservation early in advance on Resy, and I was glad I did because the time slots fill up fast! The waitress asked us if we were celebrating anything, and we shared that we had recently gotten engaged. She gave us champagne and a cheese platter on the house to celebrate! We also got the sourdough bread. As for entrees , my fiancé got the steak and I got the swordfish special (pictured). Both were delicious, came out quickly and hot. We also opted for dessert and shared the spice cake. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would love to come back here one day!

If you're in Hunter, NY then you need to stop at Prospect for a bite to eat. It doesn't matter if it's breakfast, lunch, dinner or even just drinks, but you'd be missing out if you didn't come. This place is attached to Scribner's Lodge, a short drive from Hunter Mountain. So close, that you can see the mountain if you're on the outdoor patio! There is a large parking lot in the back which is available for lodge and restaurant guests. You do not need reservations, but I highly recommend that you do, especially during the busy ski season. You can make them easily online. The service is quick and the staff is super attentive. Prospect is pricy, but once you taste the food, you'll know why. It's 100% worth it. I have had their breakfast and dinner, everything is outstanding. The portions seem small, but I have never left the restaurant hungry. The drinks are very unique and well-thought out. The bartender, Roberto, was so knowledgeable and precise. I really enjoyed the detail he put into each drink. You don't see that often. Something to note- they charge a 20% gratuity fee on every bill. I will likely come back here each time I visit Hunter because the food and views are that good.

My family and I had a great experience at Prospect. I'd read some consistent and concerning reviews about service in advance, took a deep breath, and warned my dinner guests before heading out. All concerns were squashed repeatedly throughout our dinner. We were greeted warmly and our server went above and beyond the entire time. Our meals were not only excellent but visually appealing. My dish was so pretty I just wanted to admire it for a minute. It's apparent that great care is taken in the quality of the experience at Prospect. It was a much more casual experience than I expected but nonetheless excellent. Our post dinner walk on the grounds was the perfect way to end such a gratifying experience. Thank you, Prospect.

It was a Thursday so maybe things weren't as busy as normal but we showed up a little early and the back biergarten was open so we got some drinks as it was a nice spring afternoon. The Venue itself reminded me a bit of the nearby Levon Helm studios in that it's an open space with a balcony overlooking everything and seating and standing room on the base floor. One thing I loved about this show is the sound was great. We sat stage left but the PA was subtly piping the DJ and guitar parts from stage right. It wasn't a huge crowd but people were having a good time with some standing room in front of the bar dancing etc. The bartenders were super attentive and responsive during the performance. I have been to Bearsville, Levon Helm and now Colony and I really feel lucky to have such intimate performance spaces somewhat locally. All of the staff were super friendly. Will be back for sure!

The waitresses are very kind and dressed in traditional German dresses and the live music is a great touch. To start, I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea that had a bit too much punch to it. The alcohol ratio was quite off and was very hard to drink. I asked for a soda to try and dumb it down, but was only able to get about half way through it. Though this was my fault for not ordering a beer at a German restaurant, I still would have liked the drink to be a bit tastier and is unfortunately the only thing keeping this review from being a shinning 5-stars. For my meal I ordered the sauerbraten which did NOT disappoint! The beef was very tender and the vinegar mixed with the gravy was the perfect level of sour and hearty. The red hot red cabbage was hot and flavorful and the potato pancakes were perfectly cooked. The side of applesauce put on top of the potato pancakes added the right amount of sweetness. A friend got the special rouladen which I got a taste of and was very delicious. The pickles inside were flavorful and the meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The menu is a bit pricey, but the portions are deceptively filling. I definitely expected to be hungry after but I finished my plate absolutely stuffed! Overall, this was a great experience and would recommend anyone looking for a taste of Germany to give this a try.

Damon Baehrel, which is named after the chef himself, is probably considered the most exclusive restaurant in the world. It is literally a one-man show, as Chef Baehrel is the one who cooks, serves, and hosts a 5-6+ hour-dining experience for his guests at his beautiful home on his 12-acre property in upstate NY. As most know, this restaurant is booked solid until the year 2026, and they have not been taking any reservations/adding parties onto their waiting list since last year/'14 (this is for an indefinite period of time) - you bet your tootin' bootin' that I felt so victorious for bypassing others on the list by 11+ years!!! (Just note that it really doesn't matter 'who' you are, 'who' you know, and/or if you come equipped with a list of multiple referrals.) Known for his 'Native Harvest Cuisine,' every single item on his menu (besides the seafood that is brought fresh from Nova Scotia from his private supplier) is made/created/raised on the premise - when I mean every item, I mean EVERY item, from the flours, pressed oils, vinegars, breads, to the curing his own meats and aging his own cheeses! This restaurant is the epitome and the prime definition of what 'farm-to-table' should really be! We were welcomed warmly from Chef Baehrel, and I was super excited that we were his only guests for the evening - YES, IT WAS JUST THE 3 OF US, THE HUBS, ME, AND THE CHEF!!! (I think I literally sobbed right on the spot). Our super private dining experience was about 5.5+ hours, but actually flew right on by and was like a total dream - we were given a multi-course menu (about 24-26+ items, including some handful of extras since the Chef was just super excited in having us(!!!)), that featured seasonal, organic plants/fruits/vegetables/trees from his property, in addition to a lovely educational overview of each of the ingredients used for the dish. I just couldn't believe at some of the ingredients that he had used, and how each of them had a distinct flavor (and were all actually edible/okay for human consumption!) - it was amazing to listen to the experimentation, the time spent, the punctuality of harvesting such items throughout the year, and the multiple aging/preserving/curing process that he does. I had a lovely wine pairing with the multi-course dinner (delicious champagne, reds, whites, and dessert wines), while the hubs had homemade juice pairings made from the luscious fruits/tree saps (super delicious and refreshing!). The love, the passion, and the excitement from the chef was just purely an eye-opener, and this literally was the BEST DINING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! BELIEVE THE HYPE (of the very few limited ones there are) - Chef Baehrel will change your life and exceed any and all expectations that you may/will have!!! You have to go there to experience it personally, as there are no words to describe such a unique experience - the overwhelming appreciation that you obtain in tasting the raw essence of the ingredients that are found around you was truly truly truly remarkable - Chef Baehrel is a GENIUS! Just note that there is no photography/video/recording equipment/note-taking allowed inside the restaurant, so PLEASE be respectful to the Chef (and, shame on those 'bloggers' who disregard/circumvent around this request/policy!). I cannot wait to go back! :D +BEST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!!! +Chef Damon Baehrel :D +Native Harvest Cuisine :D +5.5+ dining experience :D +no photography/video/recording equipment allowed inside the restaurant - please be respectful!

It helps to be flexible with your dates and within driving distance. 20 courses (!), 4.5 hours. 5 hour round trip drive. 1 car rental. Completely worth it. Damon Baehrel is the ultimate host, completely charming and engaging. My wife and I were the only guests and it was awesome! Not awkward at all. What I loved about the meal, besides his "Native Harvest" dishes, was that by the end of it you can start to understand his botany heavy food lexicon, as certain themes started to emerge. Stevia and clover as thickening agents, all sap everything, powders galore, nut flours, fermentation trickery, homemade cheese. Homemade everything! (except some salt and the seafood/wine). Hearing his insanely detailed and clever course preparations makes you feel guilty about eating all of these small bites in less than 30 seconds. Damon paces the meal perfectly, always happy to chat and answer your questions at length. He takes great satisfaction in his cooking and sharing his techniques. This meal is about learning the process as much as it is about eating, and both are better for it. There were some items that sounded cooler than they tasted, but overall each dish was solid. The highlights for me were the teal duck and the duck egg "creme brulee". I guess I like duck. If you are fortunate enough to get a reservation here come with an open mind and don't expect a rich fancy-pants food experience or you will be disappointed. PS - Leaving a one-star review for a restaurant you have never eaten at just because you can't get a reservation is pathetic.
