Definitely a dive bar, but the hazy IPA was solid. Everything else was about what you'd expect from a dive bar.

I want to like this place so bad. I love a good ski bar with cold beer and good food. We've been here a few times after snowboarding at Hunter, and each time has been subpar. They are perpetually understaffed which makes service incredibly slow; however the two staff they do have are very nice and you can tell they are trying their best. Food is your typical bar fare and decent, if they get your order right. I ordered a chicken wrap with no ranch, and it came out with it. Ok, no problem they'll fix it. My next "wrap" comes out basically as a salad with the tortilla ripped apart and not even cut into two pieces. I've officially learned my lesson and will look elsewhere for food after a day on the mountain. Also, it's cash only, which is annoying. read more

We visited this place for the first time on our first trip to Hunter from NYC. We were taking the busy that goes directly there, and the pickup and drop off point is near Ronnie MacGregors. We wanted something quick before catching our ride back to the city, and I thought this place got the job done. I won't say this isn't the best meal I've ever had, but we ordered some onion rings and some drinks and we got them. The service can be a bit slow, but the crowd seems like they're mostly regulars who know the owners, so there's a lot of chatting and joking around with each other. Overall, this pub has a fun feel but also is a decent place to grab a bite! read more

After a big day of snowboarding a local guy on the chairlift told us about Ronnie's for burgers and beers so we had to check it out. Way better than the $13 bowl of chili in the cafeteria at the base of the mountain. Server was sweet, beers cold and fizzy. I got the Bleu Burger, amazing and fries are on point !! Thanks !! Trash. I really messed up, shoulda kept heading East and went somewhere else. But I'm a sucker for a traditional Irish pub. There were flies and bees all over, got bit on the leg. The old Irish lady was nasty and rude from the word go. The wings were $2 apiece and no carrots or celery, very limited menu, the beer was warm, the glass was dirty, the food was mediocre at best. And on top of all that, they demanded "Cash Only". I'm never setting foot in there again, and I recommend you follow suit. read more

One of the most accommodating, friendly, cozy places we've been in years. Stopped in late on a Friday night as we arrived to Hunter Mt for snowboarding, thrilled that they were still serving food. We would have been happy with some mediocre bites - but the food was fantastic! We had a fresh salad, tasty fries and outstanding wings. The bartender was absolutely fantastic. Do not go in here. They only want locals and you should go to a better place.Last chance cheese is a much better option. I entered a pool there and the old lady tried not to pay me. She said it was only for locals except she didn't say that when she took my money. Food is not good, beer is always empty. The bathroom is dirty and the cook didn't wash his hands. Anyone from the city should stay away because they will try to beat you. They don't want us so let them them keep to themselves. read more

Honestly we went here because EVERYTHING else is closed on Monday and Tuesday. We were sooo SURPRISED by how GREAT the burgers, service and local beer was. Ok, I just finished a whole day's skiing and I'm famished. Since I just spent a mint on said skiing, I'm being cheap about paying for my supper. The mountain restos and cafs are ridiculous with their pricing. What's a girl to do? *Cues Macgregor's* Literally across the street from Hunter Mountain, Macgregor's is a good spot to grab some cheap eats on your way home. Pretty standard pub food that hits the spot. I didn't have great expectations when I walked in since the place is pretty much a dive, but hey, I was hungry. I went out on a limb and got chili. A bit too tomatoey for my taste, but hot food went a long way on that cold Christmas Eve night. Hot sauce gave it a bit more flavor. The burgers were legitimately good, as were the salads. Went for a beer with my mom and as we were waiting for our cab, a car pulled in and almost hit us. The man that got out said he worked there and proceeded to threaten us. He shoved me while screaming at us. Another co-worker of his came out and instead of trying to help diffuse the situation, she threatened my mother by saying she was going to "stab her with a shiv". So, today, Saturday, Sept 24, 2016 - six of us went to Mac Gregors after hiking around Hunter Mt. the place looked fine. old school, divey bar. and it was - old school and divey. they are primarily a burger and beer kinda place, but they didn't have tomatoes, or mushrooms, or the sense of customer service or civility. you say, 'small town"? i say nonsense! the waitress was grumpy. made multiple mistakes with our order and when asked in the most polished NYC manner (no sarcasm here), to rectify the mistakes, she got a bit ticked off. she actually said, "don't you all know what you want to eat?" - To that waitress/bartender on this fine saturday afternoon, i say - Miss, don't you know that you should have all the little-over-a-dozen simple things you offer on your hand-written, soggy menu? i apologize for sending you back to bring me the food i want, but its difficult to work around missing items on a bare-bones menu. We aren't used to having burgers without tomatoes, or mushrooms, or a sprinkle of decency. Hope you understand why you didn't deserve the 20% tip you added to our bill which was NOT MENTIONED on the menu. and just so you know - you MUST inform customers that you add mandatory tip to 6+ people tables. (the swarm of buzzing flies don't help either - please clean it) if i behaved the way you did, at my place of work, i'd be told to go home permanently - why doesn't this standard apply to you? remember a simple thing - you are in customer SERVICE. you are there to take my money and smile and serve my request for food with a matching, similar enthusiasm as you expect from me, when i reach into my wallet. The first day the bartender Dan was super friendly, really makes you feel welcome. The burgers sold us. They have about ten beers on tap. My Sierra Nevada tasted like it was the first pour in a few weeks. We came back the second night. The bartender has a thick accent. She said she is Hungarian. She was fun, busting everyone's butts. My work partner and I started with a beer each. We paid cash. Then got menu's. ordered two burgers and wings and he had two more draft Budweisers. The tables are left unbussed, the draft lines look like they haven't been cleaned since 1986, the beer smells like feet, and you won't get service unless you're a local/regular. On the other hand, the bathroom at least was clean and the fries were hot, so I guess you win some, you lose some. read more

Definitely satisfying after a long day on the mountain. Right below hunter, so perfect location. Got the chicken sandwich, pretty good. Great beer.. They had the Ubu Ale from Lake Placid NY... Crappy bar with no real ambiance besides the wanna be bikers outside. Burger was moist and crunchy from being raw and burnt, and fries soggy. Only tasty thing was a pickle. The local bar people were rude to me, but I believe that is the way they treat non-locals. Seemed to have potential, but missed the mark. Not a place to revisit anytime soon. read more
