Avoid avoid avoid. I would give this place zero stars if possible. I paid $175 for the night and this place was a dump!! Nothing is updated and the furniture is disgusting torn old rusted. There were dead bugs in the room, the side table all torn and worn. Some of the lights didn't work. The heater smelled terrible so I kept it off, and The comforter is so thin so that I regret even more being here at the end of October on a cold night. The shower head didn't work properly and water pooled in the tub. The gym is all non working rusted equipment and it's the basement that isn't even worth stepping into. The place smelled like animal urine. I came back to the room immediately. What a rip off.

The entrance to the hotel is grand and eve though it is old it has tons of potential, the breakfast was good, the rooms need some upgrading and the halls. We still had hopes, however we were really disappointed to find that both pools, indoor and outdoor pools, were shutdown by the county due to sanitary issues. Spoke to the front desk and they basically told me that (in a very nice way) they didn't know why the pool was closed and that because I booked online they couldn't let us know that the pools were closed. I was in a convention all week and had promised my 6yo to take him to the pool Saturday morning, not good. There is a nice pond past the golf course, golf courses and mini golf are closed, also there are no boats by the pond and it's very buggy, boots, long pants (ticks) and big spray recommended.

Remember that smell when you walked into your grandparents house as a child? That musty scent we could only attribute to mothballs? I think. I've never actually smelled a mothball individually but it seems to be the odor most popular when describing Nanny & Grandpa's abodes. Then you're in for a treat. This place has it emanating through its entire existence. Even when you step outside, the weeping willows give off a faint smell. The lobby resembles the sales floor of Bob's Discount Furniture, scattered living room setups which I can only imagine are for when Tom Jones comes to town or better yet, Antiques Roadshow. The rooms are adorned with a lovely array of 1980's style steakhouse wood, green leather chairs, ornery lamps and yes, even a maroon carpet to tie it all together. My favorite was the bedspread, black and gold...an obvious nod to Georgia Tech or the New Orleans Saints. If you're not a planner like I am and wait till the afternoon of to book a hotel in upstate New York on Labor Day weekend, then this is the place! Three stars from this chap as over-gaudiness can lead to cool points, especially for those millennial hipsters in Williamsburg. This place is so un-cool it should be filled to the brim with fedoras, skinny jeans and conquistador mustaches looking to make it their homes permanently.

My boyfriend and I had reservations here for 2 nights (10/6/18 and 10/7/18.) we booked online and gave our credit card number to reserve. We were told upon arrival that we'd be charged. We got a confirmation email and believed everything was all set. After planning a whole weekend of fall activities for me and my boyfriend's five year anniversary, we arrived tonight to read a sign at the gate that the hotel has been, "CLOSED FOR THE WINTER"!! We received no emails about this to give us a heads up. Frantically, I called every hotel in the New Paltz area which were unfortunately all booked. Luckily, we found a very accommodating bed and breakfast. I could not believe this!!! Do not book online or just in general

Very relaxing place in the country side, has an old smell of carpet, it hosts some beautiful collection of art, very nice spa and big pool with a lot of outdoor loungers and seating. I heard they have renovated, but didn't confirm that.

    BED BUG!!!

This hotel is just run down to the core. We woke with itch all over and we flip the blankets and found what seems to look like a bed bug or half a bed bug. Whatever bug it is I don't care. Just not acceptable!

I stayed at the Vacation Valley Resort prior to the COVID pandemic. The hotel was previously known as the Hudson Valley Resort. Prior to that, it was the Granit. The hotel is beautifully nestled in the mountains. The views from many of the rooms are spectacular. The lobby is very attractive. It has a large crystal chandelier, numerous places to sit and a grand piano. All of the staff are friendly and do their best to be helpful. My room was spacious and comfortable. When I arrived at my room, I turned on the water in the sink. The water looked rusty for several minutes. I opened the lid to the toilet and found several bugs in various states of death and dying. (See photo.) The television in the room did not function. I complained twice to the front desk staff and was told it would be fixed. Although repair men came to the room, they were unable to obtain reception. When I complained a third time, I was told the cables were down and there would be no reception the entire weekend. The ice machine on the floor was not working. A staff member who saw me trying to get ice told me that all of the ice machines in the hotel were broken. Ultimately, a person working at the front desk obtained ice for me from the kitchen. (If management does not want to repair the ice machines, how about putting ice cube trays in the refrigerators in each room?) There was no maid service to clean the room and provide fresh linens during the entire weekend. This hotel has the potential to become the grand resort it once was. In order for this to happen, management must make a significant investment in maintenance and repairs.

Absolute worst hotel ever. Dirty, old, smelly, horrible. Not worth a dollar. Skip this hotel for your own sanity. Would give it zero stars.

Over the years we've stayed at a few nice hotels. Minnewaska Lodge is now at the top of my favorite places. Minnewaska Lodge is centrally located to all of our favorite spots. Driving our Tesla from Long Island, we stopped for lunch at our favorite diner, charged up at a Tesla supercharger station and pulled into the Lodge parking lot around 3pm. The view is just commanding. This large lodge with the mountains as a back drop is post card perfect. After we received our keys and stored our luggage, we went to a local farm stand for a bottle of local wine as well as local cheese and crackers. I tried to light a fire but each deck heater had issues. Sitting outside and just enjoying the natural beauty was worth the room price. Not only was the staff friendly, the guests were also very engaging. Almost chipper! We're playing cards in the main dining room while sipping on our local wine purchase and people were stopping by to talk to us. It really made our overall stay extra special. Our room was equally impressive. We had an outdoor deck that opened up to the same view as the main lodge. The bed was comfortable, the shower products were high end and the welcome note was a nice touch. It was a short weekend but Minnewaska Lodge checked all the hospitality boxes to make our stay special. I cannot wait to return!

Out of the way, but quiet with several hiking trails. New Paltz within ten minutes. At least one can walk to a good restaurant and mini market. Would definitely return.

Poor quality, poor customer service…read more Cute in theory, horrible execution. Felt like a true crappy motel and I feel robbed at $300+/night. Cons: - shower gets COLD quickly and when the toilet is flushed - loud traffic noise (large trucks use the road all night) - room is dark - no front desk service - mildew/mold in bathroom grout and on ceilings - improper room booking - poor business ethics, refusal to own up to their error Pros: - room included coffee, milk, and popcorn - room had mini-split A/C We booked a two night stay as part of a wedding block. No one picked up the phone and it took three attempts across two days to make a reservation, which we made over three months ahead. In the call they asked if we wanted two beds or one king. We told them we had two kids so we definitely wanted two beds. They let us know they only had one room with two beds- great, yes we want to book that room. They told us the differing rates of the rooms and we confirmed that we wanted the double bed room. I didn't get a confirmation email at the time (which I chalked up to their lack of a typical front desk/reception person). ETA: they did finally send a confirmation email one week before we arrived, but we had already left for our trip by that point. Fast forward to three months later... When we arrive, turns out they've put us in a room with just one king bed. There's no "front desk" so you have to text for service. The solution was to offer us a crappy twin air mattress (with sheets only, no comforter??). We still have 4 people... so that meant three of us in one bed aka no sleep (add on the noisy road traffic... they clearly didn't spring for noise insulation in their remodeling). How do they not even have cots?? The air mattress deflated through the night (as cheap ones do). They also clearly didn't upgrade their plumbing; the shower gets cold after 5 minutes and when people flush the toilet. There is no ventilation in the bathroom so there is mold/mildew on the ceiling. Our bathroom sink had a huge gap of cracked caulk and the vinyl plank flooring in the room was bumpy and uneven. Basically this whole place screams cheap DIY remodel and is a total rip off at more than $300/night. The worst part of this experience is that they refused to own up to their mistake. I knew from our phone conversation that they only had one room with two beds. Obviously I would not have booked a stay there if that room was not available. So either their booking person lied to me about its availability OR they forgot to reserve that room for us. Their response to my complaint was "we can refund you but we'll have to charge the bride who had the block." What?? Rather than admit their error and try to rectify their mistake, they want to penalize a third party? Because they chose not to have real staff that is trained to properly make a room reservation? Garbage service.

Bait and Switch; Safety Issues; Non-responsive…read more In early November, our group stayed at one of their properties and found that the description and photographs were not accurate. We also reported safety issues directly to the listing agent and have still not received a response from the company. I would caution anyone who is considering renting from HVLR. I initially found the property and booked it through Air BnB. Hudson Valley Luxury Resorts then cancelled the listing and requested that I book directly through their website, offering a discount. I had no other option since they had cancelled on their end and there were no other properties available for our desired time and location. Since cancelling our stay, they have since re-listed the property on Air BnB, for which there are no reviews available. The listing described a 'unparalleled escape for those seeking luxury, privacy, and natural beauty' and 'historic property has been meticulously updated to offer the perfect blend of old-world charm and modern amenities.' Neither of these statements are accurate. Just before check-in, the host called us to let us know that the house was historic and had some quirks. This was the first indication that the property was not what was advertised. Over the four nights we stayed, we found the following issues: 1. Inaccessible first floor half bath due to missing doorknobs. 2. Three of the upstairs bathrooms did not have fully functional showers or hot water. In the first bathroom, the tub drain was clogged and the shower curtain was not big enough to enclose the tub. Additionally the faucet leaked from the handles when it was turned on. In the second bathroom, the shower head did not function at all. In the third bathroom, one sink did not have any hot-water. 3. None of the upstairs bedrooms had functioning wall switches and most of the wall sconces were missing lightbulbs. Two light fixtures had faulty wiring evidenced by the intermittent flickering of the lights. 4. One upstairs bedroom had a broken doorknob, which meant you had to leave the door cracked or else be locked in/out. 5. Multiple windows had visible gaps open to the outside and few radiators actually worked. We were told to keep the thermostat at 67 degrees the entire time, which made for a very uncomfortable stay. 6. Flaking paint and torn rugs created a hazard for the toddlers and kids in our group. This brings us to the safety concerns: There wasn't a single working smoke alarm or carbon monoxide detector in the house. We checked the existing devices and none of them responded to the test button or indicated they had power. The host told us we could use the fireplace as long as we kept it small (3 logs or fewer). With the flue open, a 2 log fire smoked out the entire first floor. It was only then we noticed the absence of any fire safety monitors. With two young children in the group, we immediately reported the issue to the host who said they "will check on that". I also reported these issues immediately to Ryan, the listing agent. I also tried the generic "info@hudsonvalleyluxuryresorts.com" email. After 72 hours we haven't received an acknowledgement. The icing on the cake was that my toddler found a used condom near the side door as we were checking out. Aside from the safety issues, I still would have been willing to rent if the listing was accurate and the price reflected a drafty, historic home with 3 of 7 usable showers, and hit-or-miss electricity.
