Stopped in for a quick lunch with a friend without recommendation or any expectations. But man, this place is definitely a hidden gem in beacon. They offer pizza and authentic Mexican food. A lot of folks that walked in came for the slices but we sat down for a Mexican sandwich and a burrito. Servings are pretty damn large so you'll probably end up taking away. They don't hold away from seasoning or from the heat so you'll have that going for you if you enjoy that. Service is very quick quick and pleasant, definitely took their time helping us out with what we wanted. It's a small establishment with about three to four seats, but everybody was very comfortable. Full Italian style menu, appetizers, entrees, pizza, soups, salads, and desserts! Pizza: Great crunch, Very flavorful, not super oily though, Sauce was good not too. Dinning Area: Pretty decent amount of seats, open. Prices: Relatively cheap. 2 slice and fountain for $12! Parking: Plenty of space. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and regular size. Atmosphere: During the weekday lunch rush, busy but quick and easy in and out. Staff/Attendants: Staff overall was older, and actually sociable. This review saddens me, as Roma Nova used to be one of my favorite go-to spots for Enchiladas. Granted I havent been there in a few years as I moved, I was hoping it would be like old times. We got chicken Enchiladas and a steak quesadilla. The chicken Enchiladas did not taste the same as they used to. I can't put my finger on it, but they were off. There were no onions on top as they used to put (and is on the menu). They used to serve the dish with different rice as well - the rice that came with it had Peas and carrots, was a different texture, and was generally bland and unpleasant - it used to come with peppers in it and was a different grain. I will say the Enchiladas didn't taste bad, just not what I was used to. The green sauce on them is pretty terrific, but they absolutely smothered them in cheese. I like cheese, but the food was swimming in it. Here's the kicker: 1/2 way through I picked a hair out. I know accidents happen, but the rest of my meal went in the trash. Now on to the quesadilla. I don't think they really know what a quesadilla is because what we got was steak in a corn taco shell that was fried. It didn't taste bad, but definitely was not a quesadilla. The steak was overcooked and bland. So disappointed . It came with a salad, which was ok, but who wants a salad with their quesadilla? Throw in some rice and beans people! This is a popular quick option in Beacon for Mexican and pizzas. I recommend the regular pizzas. Being from Chicago, I didn't find their "Chicago style pizza" to be authentic. Most east coasters think Chicago pizza is = thick crust, and it's not. (It's actually not thick-- the thickness is toppings.). But I digress. The regular pies are not the thinnest but not thick crust, the toppings are good and plentiful. The taste of the sauce and crust are excellent. I can also recommend the chicken parm heroes and Mexican tacos which are street tacos: well prepared and seasoned meat, cilantro, and onions, three to an order, with green salsa which is simple and fantastic. Guy comes over and tells me it's 50.00 I tell him that's not what there menu on there web site said. The driver then takes the food back and proceeds to call the owner so he can pay for the food with my card tf??? I tell him I'm not paying and talk with the owner myself he then tells me it's my fault for looking at the old menu and not asking for the price no it's your fault Roma for leaving the dawn menu up there in the first place, mind u it's 8:30 and already waited an hour. My family and I have made Roma Nova one of our pizza go-to's since making Beacon our home in 1995. The thing that keeps us coming back is their consistency. Stick with any pizza place for a length of time and at some point you'll get an overdone pie, an underdone pie, or too much or too little of something. Not here. Not ever. Like their style or not, the pizza you order today will be EXACTLY the same as the one you ordered 100 times before. Their pizza has to be experienced to be understood. I'd have a hard time describing it and I'm rarely at a loss for words. It is different and it is DELICIOUS. Their chicken rolls are another example of this. They are the tiniest things you've ever seen but those diminutive delicacies pack a powerful flavor explosion. Not to be missed. Stop in to Roma Nova when you can. You'll be surprised by their unique take on Italian food. While I've never ventured to the Mexican aside of the menu I do hear good things. read more

I come here for their tacos and especially their flautas. Flautas have lovely toppings. Fresh chopped lettuce, crumbled queso blanco on top, fresh guacamole and fresh salsa. Solid tacos with a tasty green sauce! The only place with authentic tacos in Beacon. Yesterday I tried their tostadas for the first time, and they came with a creamy green sauce that tasted like it had avocado in it. It's different than the other green sauce, and they are both very good. We also tried the pambazo and the Mexican pizza, and quite enjoyed them both. While there are better pizza places around, I do like the sweet taste of the doughy crust, as a change from NY style pizza. The dining room atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but otherwise we enjoy eating here. read more

We got a good portion with a lot of beef for a reasonable price, but it taste was rather on a bland side and not hot enough (temperature). green spicy sauce had a very good taste to it but it was very spicy. Family owned , wonderful people. My favorite pizza is a slice with green peppers. The veggie pie is delicious ! I had the popcorn shrimp last night, it was SO GOOD. Every time I order they're rude and rush you off the phone to get your order wrong. No reason I'm paying $20 for wings and have to cook them again when they're delivered when I SPECIFICALLY said fry them hard make them burnt. They're still pink. The 5 stars are for the Mexico City style tacos, which are just corn tortillas, meat filling, cilantro and onions, with a side of apparently homemade green salsa. I especially recommend the pork which is sublime. Chicken is small pieces of sauteed breast, and this and the chorizo are also very good. (Haven't tried beef tacos.) The price can't be beat. Understand this type of taco may seem odd to people used to more of a Tex-Mex or Baja (or even middle American) style taco with lots of other stuff in it. But the fillings are so tasty, it really is amazing. An acquaintance from Mexico City explained that the tacos from his home town are all about the salsa, and that seems right to me. The other fillings are simple, and they work together with the salsa. The green salsa is what my household calls "crack" salsa. It is just so good. There is always more than I need for my tacos and then I put it on chips, veggies, whatever until it's gone. The best salsa. I have also tried tostadas (very good), fajitas (just okay-- and they don't come with the crack salsa, so maybe that's the key), and the chicken parm hero, which was also fine. I have not tried the pizza. We always get takeout, so I can't comment on the ambience, though it's obviously very casual. All the employees are super friendly when we call or stop in. read more

I have some "beef" with this place... A bit weird walking in, kind of smelt like piss but ya know, it's authentic. We were impressed by the friendly staff, but it was a mostly deserted restaurant (granted, it was a Monday at 5:30) The salsa and chips that we were served were literally marvelous. I ordered the beef tacos and I was so excited because the pictures looked delicious. Although they weren't AWFUL, the beef was very chewy and the meal itself was underwhelming. It was definitely adequate, especially considering the price - but may be better with a different filling. My partner in crime and reviewing restaurants ordered the chicken quesadillas. They were good and very filling, but the chicken was subpar and not seasoned well. All and all, workable if you are poor teenagers like us - but not a high quality meal. read more
