The sauce wasn't too piquant, a balanced flavor that complimented the chili. Fortaleza provides a basket of corn tortillas. That''s akin to Italian bread on the table in an Italian restaurant. It's a nice touch. Prices are reasonable and portions of large. They have an app you can download, there's also a QR code for customer loyalty points. To describe the ambience, would take a book length review. I don't think there is a spot that isn't decorated with some sort of image. They have some merchandise for purchase to the right of the front door as you exit. They do catering, special occasions, and delivery.

Because of our great knowledge of and experience with the Fortalezas in our area - we had to go and stop by this location! This location was geand and covered in beautiful Mexican inspired artwork and inspiration. There was a foozeball table and didn't place for a photo op like the wooden chair swing with the big bear and the phone booth with the neon sign "I didn't call you, tequila did". The thing I love about La Fortalezas is the commitment to the heritage, the culture and the authenticity of the community. The food and drink are always delicious, spot on and features an array of choices and price points. My cousin and I enjoyed their $5 margarita deal - getting flavored margs for an additional buck. I mean you can beat it! To eat, my cousin, fiend and myself all enjoyed the steak tacos and between that, the chips and dip and our drinks we are all stuffed and satisfied. First off - they should change the name from Flores Tapas to Flores - burger and taco shack. Based on the "new" menu. It's very sad - because it's neither "fish nor fowl". Is it Mexican street food or a burger joint? It takes forever for the food to come out of a totally confused kitchen and even though there are numbers on the table, they don't know where to bring it. It's the fault of the "21st century"ordering system they are employing. IT is totally "Fakakta"!! Theoretically, the order goes from your phone to the kitchen, where they process it and prepare your food, then the runner brings it to your table. The reality is disappointingly different. You're better off, sitting at the bar; getting blitzed and watching TV. The fast food gets there sooner! You can do that at home and not have to worry about driving home drunk. Sadly, they spent a small fortune on theme glasses, seat back covers that look like Santa's hat, and specialty merchandise. See photos. Jesus, it was almost as if I was back in Highland Park, Los Angeles. Moist, fall apart in your mouth carnitas. No weird, hard chunks of gristle. A perfect balance between fat and meat. The chorizo was pretty standard for LA, nothing too exciting, but spicy and pretty goddamn epic for this side of the country. The salsa roja was smokey, spicy and delicious. Damn. I'm still thinking about these tacos. For me, they lack some crucial elements: no carne asada, no al pastor and no radishes served with the tacos. But they serve lengua. And have awesome salsa. We absolutely feel in love with the menu at our tasting and the food at our wedding was cooked to perfection. We got married at Locust Grove, which has a full kitchen setup. Our guest raved about the food for weeks! (We're still hearing about it from friends and family). The beef tenderloin was fantastic, our guests raved about how perfect it was cooked, a true feat especially when prepared in mass. Everyone loved the chicken empanadas, the mojo chicken, the charcuterie cones, and the tuna tartar. We opted for a vegetarian pállela for our vegan/vegetarian friends and it was a hit. The deal was sealed when everyone lined up for seconds of dessert, Flan and Ice Cream. It was so thick you'd need to unhinge your jaw to get it in your mouth! The staff is cordial. The guacamole is freshly made. Not a puree that doesn't taste like much of anything. It's either take-out or eat in the main food court.
