Holy Mole! This is one of the best Mexican places we've ever been to. Great ambiance as soon as you enter. Huge, beautiful bar. Two large dining areas. Excellent service. And then of course, the food was excellent. So nicely plated. Just gorgeous looking. And we found out that our waitress is family. Her mom is in the kitchen. How awesome is that?! I wish we lived closer. But will definitely come again the next time we're in town.

What an absolutely enchanting find in New Paltz! Everything about this cute cantina won me over. The space itself is adorable. Near the entrance is a cozy sitting area with a fireplace. When's the last time you went into a restaurant, had to wait for a table, and genuinely enjoyed the delay? I could easily imagine it here on a snowy, wintry evening (with margarita in hand). We showed up for lunch on a Friday afternoon, so I can't speak from personal experience; for most of our meal, we were the only two patrons present. The glassware was similarly fetching, including both our water cups and enormous margarita glasses. I appreciated the mesoamerican murals on the walls and the intricate mosaic tiling above the bar. All told, the ambiance felt warm and welcoming, like someone's kitschy home. I had pretty muted expectations about the food. Let's be real -- NYC has only started to pick up a decent Mexican food scene in the past decade; how great could the cuisine be this far up the Hudson Valley? Well, consider my skepticism thoroughly dispelled. We started with the queso fundido with chorizo and it was delightful. Served with fluffy tortillas, the kitchen absolutely nailed the consistency. I wish I'd snagged a video of my cheese-pull. Next up, our birria tacos arrived. Also delectable, my favorite aspect of this dish was the no-questions-asked consommé. You don't have to add it as a side; nor is it an upcharge. It's an integral component to the order, just as it should be. Finally, we also shared a chicken quesadilla. While enormous and filling, it was the least compelling selection. Don't get me wrong, I liked it just fine. The tacos and fundido were just that outstanding. Rounding out our experience, I have to commend our server for being attentive and sweet. He was so friendly and engaging, showed genuine glee at our appreciation of the meal, and even spent some time chatting with us about the area and destinations worth visiting nearby. Admittedly, business wasn't exactly bustling during our repast, but he truly went above and beyond to make us feel special. If I could pack up La Charla and move it back to my neighborhood in NYC, I would in a flash -- this is the kind of joint I could see myself returning to again and again.

Probably one of my favorite places to go when I'm craving Mexican food. The staff is always very friendly and prompt. Parking is easy in a gravel parking lot behind the building (though very dark at night). Portion sizes are adequate and prices are very competitive compared to the New England restaurants. Their salsa and guacamole are by far the best I've had anywhere. I just couldn't stop eating them that by the time my food came out, I was already full. They have specials every day of the week and wonderful drink specials but my favorite is Taco Tuesday! You get 4 tacos (all the same tacos, can't do a variety) for $12! Overall, highly recommend!

Such a great spot! We ordered the chips & salsa for our appetizer which was yummy and a great size. I got the strawberry marg and it was great! My boyfriend got the fish tacos and I got a steak burrito. The burrito was lowkey small but was a perfect size for lunch so I didn't mind. My boyfriend and I loved the food and would 100% come back. Plus our waiter was so nice - he never stopped smiling :)

Quac without chips...... am I supposed to just scoop the quac and shove it in my mouth and smile?

We ordered a pickup and Realized the store messed up our orders. We called the store and store told us to drive all the way back and said they were not willing to give us a discount for a 14 dollar menu they messed up. The store manager even asked if we ran a restaurant manager which we found appalling. The restaurant, instead of owning up to their mistake and trying to resolve the issue, tried to make us the bad people for bringing up their issue. Terrible service and the food was 7.5 out of 10 overall. We do not recommend.

Great food! The place feels artsy, comfortable and great ambiance. Wall art is amazing. Definitely worth going in for the look and the color authentic Mexican food. However the waitstaff need to show more attention to their guests. I feel that they might have been short staffed but it felt neglected. Would I go back yes! Always able to give a spot a second shot!

This super orange spot however, is hard to miss located on Old Route 299 in Highland, NY. And the interior at Órale M., is just as colorful with Mexican ceiling banners and wall murals. At $16 or so for small, 'street-style' shrimp tacos, they were a bit more than what I wanted to pay- but hey...seafood prices right? The doubly-ply tacos were filled with diced and succulent+seasony shrimp. The right amount of veg was nice too. I've been to Mexican spots where tomato+onions+cilantro overpowers the protein- but not here which I liked. Shrimp tails were cooked with the cut up shrimp and not sure if this was an oversight(?) or, just how they do(?). The meal was comforting at least..... without the tails of course. My diluted-looking horchata had wonderful taste- but, service was nice and so were the complimentary chips and salsa.

As an alumni returning for a weekend visit, I was initially disheartened to discover that my beloved local Thai house, Lemongrass, had closed its doors. However, fate had a delicious surprise in store for me and my friends as we stumbled upon Bangkok Cafe, only to realize it was under the same management as Lemongrass! From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in the comforting aroma of authentic Thai spices and the welcoming ambiance of familiar faces. Each dish we ordered transported me back to my school days, with every bite reminiscent of the culinary magic I had come to cherish at Lemongrass. While every dish we sampled was incredible, the Pad See Ew stole the show! I love Thai food and have been to many amazing restaurants but this pad see ew will always be #1. The noodles are perfect in every aspect - size, shape, and texture. What truly sets Bangkok Cafe apart is not just the outstanding food, but also the affordability without compromising on quality. In a world where good food often comes with a hefty price tag, Bangkok Cafe remains a beacon of accessible excellence. The service is also always top notch. Everyone is so friendly and the food comes out quick! Needless to say, Bangkok Cafe has effortlessly claimed the title of my favorite Thai restaurant, a position it will undoubtedly hold for many years to come.
