Honestly it's fantastic, some shrimp tacos and a margarita for lunch, you can't go wrong.

We arrived 9 pm. Outdoor seating only... I know it was late, but our son just arrived on the 8:45 from Buffalo. We ordered the guac, a pitcher of margaritas, tacos and burritos. I felt bad because it was so late, but the staff, the servers and the food were amazing. Thank you so much for making our evening special ! Most places in Rhinebeck close at 9pm, but we were grateful you were open until 10. Appreciate you! Muchas gacias! read more

How can it be called an authentic Mexican restaurant if you can tell that the enchiladas were made from the sauce of a can? The lady in front who's the manager I'm assuming was rude on saying how can I send the food back if I didn't try it? Very fiesty. As for my fiancées burrito was mid as well. Only good thing was my kiddos chicken fries. Won't come back again. read more

Food is definitely the best Mexican food in this general area although I admit, I have not been to all the Mexican restaurants, but the food is excellent Services professional and the bar is a "local" with the owner often bartending read more

So my wife and I tried this Mexican restaurant several years ago and found the food to be mostly bland and tasteless. In my words, we wrote this one off. However, my wife decided to give it another try. After all, they are still in business, right? My wife and her sister sat at the bar area (not getting drinks) to wait for their takeout order. 30+ minutes later (the restaurant wasn't busy) she tracked down her server (for lack of a better term) and discovered her order had been sitting around getting old (not a typo). Hungry and tired, paid cash and left for the 15 minute drive home. We got: calamari appetizer Chicken burrito Enchilada de espinaca Steak taco $71.36 I couldn't believe how awful it was. My wife, who usually goes with the flow called the restaurant only to have the manager, Delpino (sp) blame the wait and drive home for the poor quality. To his credit, he offered to replace the food, but given that not one item out of four was really edible, we opted to pass. By that point we had already tossed the food in the trash. Delpino offered to refund us if we routed through the garbage to return to uneaten portion. Not my idea of fun. Ultimately he refunded us 20%. The advice I would give is to pass on this one. It would have been different if just one item wasn't good or if the manager didn't blame us for the food's taste because it was take out or telling us everyone else likes their food. There are lots of restaurants to choose from and it makes no sense to put up with being treated poorly. read more

We stopped at Gaby's because it was recommended by friends as a yummy and kid friendly place. I e really enjoyed our food. The chips and quacamole were delicious and the chips were not greasy for a bonus. My quesadilla with zucchini flowers was amazing. I really enjoyed the filling and it was huge. The steak quesadilla with corn tortillas was not a true quesadilla - more like steak tacos - but it was delicious. The corn tortilla was excellent and the steak perfectly cooked. We washed it down with margaritas (mezcal marg was the best) and chocolate milk for the kiddies. We had a truly delicious dinner. Service was super slow but didn't mind. It was a colorful and fun spot for a family dinner. read more

I love Mexican food and Gaby's is the best I've ever had. Yum! Treat yourself and your loved ones.

This place is always amazes me it used to be so good and the food was delicious now after Covid it just seems like whoever was cooking. The food has no idea how to make good Mexican food anymore. Quality of the food is not good. The taste of it is not good. The price is very highand the food is not very good anymore. Sadly used to be a great place. read more

Some friends of ours who are from the area wanted to go get margaritas after they wrapped up at a local harvest festival. they said that they usually go to this place for margaritas and though neither my sister nor I drink, we were excited to have some good guacamole. When we arrived we stood around for a little bit before anyone seated us but it was kind of busy. When the waitress came our friends explained that they would be ordering drinks to drink here and then they would be ordering their food to go. I explained that though we were not ordering food or margaritas, I understood that we were taking a table and would be tipping accordingly. They ordered a pitcher of margaritas and we ordered two bottled sodas and some very expensive guacamole. My friend, who has a fair number of food allergies, was trying to ask the waitress about various items on the menu but the waitress wasn't really giving her much in the way of answers (she asked about the chicken soup and the answer was "it's chicken soup"...) our other friend asked about refried beans and was given a very snarky response as though it was insane to suggest they might have a refried beans at this establishment. I understand that they didn't have these beans but the answer this woman gave my friend was incredibly rude. The guacamole was OK, the chips were not good. It took her friends a while to drink their margarita picture but I assumed that our waitress would be antsy to hustle us out of there. Instead she disappeared, essentially never to be seen again. Someone finally had to get up to find an employee to ask for the check. When the check was brought to our table, there was a gratuity included in the total. Nothing on the receipt or menu suggests that this is a standard thing that they do and when I asked the waitress about it she kind of stared at me blankly and shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Then took us another almost 30 minutes to get somebody to take the check and credit card from the table. I was fully prepared to tip quite generously because I understand that we didn't actually order food to eat there and only half the table was drinking but the service we received was beyond poor, it was honestly bad and pretty disrespectful and certainly not deserving of the tip that they gave themselves. I will not be returning to this establishment and I'm told that when my friends wrote a negative review on google, the restaurant paid to have that review removed. read more

Very good food. I asked for guacamole along with the chips and was pleasantly surprised that it was so fresh and plentiful. I wasn't so pleasantly surprised when it was $12 but it was still good. The sandwiches were large and good as well. Nice service, clean place. read more

Gaby's is quite delicious. I've been several times and while they serve at a somewhat leisurely pace, it's because they take great care in preparing their dishes. Expect to wait an hour for the paella (and they do warn you up front). But also understand that it is absolutely worth the wait. I have absolutely no complaints. It's consistently good every time. The décor is wonderful. The place is comfortable and I have no issues spending an hour or two there. In fact, I really want to go back - right now!! read more

Nine years later, and I still love Gabys... I just had a great coconut margarita and believe it or not... I cannot get enough of their chicken soup Azteca style. It is beyond amazing and so filling you can't even think about having dinner. But I also really love their steak tacos and steak quesadilla. I've never had the burrito, but it looks so huge It could feed an entire family. Everyone there is very welcoming and friendly. I love going to Gaby's. Oh, I almost forgot, they always give you a free chips and salsa read more

The service was very good, the establishment is clean, the vibe is friendly. The food is average. Guacamole was good and chips were nice n crunchy. Taco salad was a hit. Veggie burrito was bland. Chimichanga was soggy (not crispy at all) and pretty bland as well. Margaritas were very tasty and the pitcher is a good deal. In general i am not mad nor excited. Seems very pricey for an average meal but nice for a little snack and drinks. read more

Great local place to come with large groups. The bar area has TVs for games. The dining area is decorated with a pretty wall painting done by local artist Richard Prouse. Drinks: get a pitcher! No complaints Food: something for everyone. It's not fancy but it hits the spot. We enjoyed the guacamole and the chips as we chatted read more

Can only assume this place ebbs and flows through creating good and bad food looking at the reviews. We must have picked a bad day when they forgot how to make Fajitas, left the salt at home (with the rest of the seasoning) had some meat left over from a few weeks back and figured we should pay a premium for the experience. Get in your car, drive up the road to Tivoli and go to Santa Fe. Night and day. read more

Good Vibe for outside dining , good food and Amazing Margaritas in the pitchers... I wish we could pick our choice of tequila... Gaby's is decent. The prices are way too high for the food they are dishing out - but extremely expected in this area. If you walk around town for a bit and work up an appetite this is a good place to go. It is kind of hidden and off the beaten path which is nice, but once you find it you'll likely come back. Service is quick and friendly, and you will likely have a bit of a wait on the weekends. It is a little fancier than your typical Mexican joint, which is a nice change of pace. Their portions are plentiful and if you don't have leftovers after a meal, kudos to you. The ingredients are always fresh and you'll get a lovely plated presentation. Definitely try the burritos, they are packed with flavor and delicious. We have ordered takeout from here as well and it is just as good. read more

It's hard to find truly GOOD nachos these days. But boy, Gaby's knocks in out of the park. Plenty of cheese in every bite and they definitely don't skimp on the toppings! Food was served fresh and servers were extremely accommodating with regard to my personal food constraints. I normally grab my food to go, but the environment and ambiance always seems relaxed, friendly, and fun. Can't wait for my next order! read more

My daughter and I ate there last Sunday afternoon. The food and service were excellent. The guac was very very good. The plaintains were delicious, too. We had the best flan we've ever had in a restaurant! I had to take one to go! We'll go back! read more

I've been here a few times and it's always very good. Drinks and apps are price very reasonably and taste very good! Guac in particular is a little gem. Had the burrito and nachos a few times and they've always been pretty good. Not great, not outstanding, but pretty good. It just seems to be lacking a little something extra that would really make the food POP. Tacos were actually really well done though. The servers have always been attentive and very kind, especially when we decided we wanted to sit outside after receiving the appetizer! Free chips and salsa is a very nice touch too! Definitely recommend this place for Mexican food in Rhinebeck! read more

Dined here with a group. Saw the server twice. 1st for the order and lastly for the check. She told us chips and salsa will be sent out only with our orders...after 20+ mins later, we had to ask the bus boy to send it out. The server never asked us if the food was okay, If we wanted more drinks, etc. We saw the bus boy more than the server. Food was very bland. No seasoning; good thing they left salt and pepper on the table. Carne Fajitas were dry, unseasoned and had zero marinade. Carne tacos were dry and also unseasoned. Overall, it was just very bland, unseasoned, basic food. We would've been happy to share our thoughts with the server had we been asked or seen her. Wouldn't come back. read more

Nice ambiance. Bland, uninspired, and room temperature food. Was going to ask to have it returned to the kitchen but didn't want to make a fuss, especially since I couldn't find the waitress. However, for the price, I can think of better places to eat! Will never go back. read more

Unwelcoming and rude and forced a gratuity on a 4 person table. I went there with my wife and 2 friends. We are a gay couple and I have never been so disrespected and Discriminated against in New York. When I asked about the gratuity on my bill the waitress laughed and walked away. Leaving to ask a second waitress with her stating "that is normal" I am reporting this business to New York State. It is completely awful to force a gratuity without prior statement of such. Our table was not serviced and we were left waiting for more than an hour just to get our check. I had to ask a different waitress just to get our bill paid. The server was very argumentative when we asked about replacing the black beans with refrained beans. We asked for the ingredients in the chicken soup and the waitress rudely stated that it was chicken soup. And then the waitress stated that there was tortillas in the chicken soup so it was not just chicken soup I have food allergies and need to know the ingredients in all of the food. read more

We love Gary's! Great food, fabulous staff. Fast service and always generous to our community.

Tried the chili rellenos. They were fresh and lite. The rice was very Americanized with frozen peas and carrots. The black beans seemed like out of a can. Service was fast but almost too. They took your plate the moment it was empty and the waitress asked feom a distance if we were ready for the check...all just rushed a d quick. That said, the rellenáis were decent. read more
