We stopped in for lunch last week, and my usual chicken fajitas were great! It's nice that they are consistent - both with food and service. read more

My family stop in after the garlic festival on the recommendation of my daughter's visit to their Poughkeepsie location. The restaurant was large and decorated in Mexican style . We were greeted promptly and seated. Within minutes we were served tortilla chips, salsa, and a refried bean dip. Then our drink order was taken and came to our table in approximately 10 minutes! We ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer and place our meal order. Our appetizer came out promptly. They were the best wings i've had in a restaurant!! Crispy and seasoned perfectly. Our meals came out in a timely manner. All were delicious and plentiful. Doggie bags were needed by all. If in the area definitely worth stopping in. read more

I have tried numerous Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants, but I was instantly taken back with their salsa, the fact that it tasted fermented and smelt off? Ordered a seafood platter, the mariscada, everything was good until we ate the crab legs. I was also taken back with the fact that there was a strong bleach/ammonia like smell. Brought it up with our server and took back the plate. In the end we still got charged $35 for the entree even though we had eaten maybe 1/4 of the plate. We looked at the reviews online and there has been numerous reviews about the seafood entrees being an issue. Asked the server for a discount because $35 on a seafood platter we barely ate is insane. Server and drinks were amazing, but would have been nice if the manager came to us to address it since he was walking around the restaurant unbothered. read more

A solid 3.5 experience. No server came over after a while so we flagged a guy down. He was attentive after that.m, tho. The appetizer was really good. The rest was fine to good and piping hot. read more

Quality of food not up to past standards. Burrito was served in record time and barely warm. When I told the waitress she brought me a carryout box..language problem. Taco salad is same price but smaller. Overall meal was a huge disappointment. I won't be returning. read more

The restaurant's decor had the atmosphere of being in an authentic Mexican restaurant! My food was delicious and the vegetables were grilled to perfection and there were numerous shrimp. My one complaint on the food was that the mango chunks were hard and from non ripened fruit. The dressing was delicious and very flavorful! The server was wearing a mask but most of the time it was falling below his nose. He did not have a good understanding of the menu offerings but did come back and ask questions on our choices . The service overall was slow and we had to call our server over to process our payment. read more

Good food, friendly service, great place to meet friends. the interior feels authentic.

Went to Casa by myself tonight as I was coming through Kingston for work. It had been on my list to check out for a while but their website doesn't mention a Children's Menu and we have a son who will eat anything, as long as it's chicken fingers. I arrived shortly after 5pm on a Wednesday and there were already a few tables seated with a large group arriving at 5:30. I was seated immediately and brought some complimentary chips and salsa as well as a refried bean dip plate. Chips were pretty good, the bean dip was flavorful with a bit of spice but the salsa was underwhelming. Tomato forward but lackluster with any heat or sweetness that I had hoped for. Not bad, not great. I ordered a frozen margarita and also a coke. The coke was an old school bottle and for $2.99, well worth the price for taste and nostalgia. The marg fell short of exciting me. Not sweet enough and not boozy enough. Now for the star of the show. I ordered the guacamole and a minute later, a cart arrived at my table and I realized it was going to be prepared table side. Two whole avocados were cut and all the delicious goodness that makes guac what it is was added. The server/guac artist, asked if I wanted spicy, cilantro, salt, pepper, etc. I said yes to all. When she was done, I had more guac than I could ever eat and trust me, I can eat. I think it was about $11 and worth every cent and then some. For my entree, I ordered the seafood burrito. Going off memory here but I believe it had shrimp, scallops and white fish. Drenched in cheese and a nice sauce. White sticky rice on the side with some fresh veggies and more beans. Packed with shrimp, abundance of flavor and plenty to eat. Easy access off a few nearby roads with large parking lot. Dining room pretty specious. Oh and to answer my question from the beginning, they do offer a kids menu and it has Chicken Fingers! Bueno! I'll return with family in tow! read more

Lunch... waitress was pleasant and efficient. Chips, salsa and a bean dip provided while waiting for order. Food was good, not too spicy for the norteamericano palate. Ample portions. Piped in mariachi music was way too loud... I measured at 80 plus decibels... too loud for conversation. Prices for lunch have risen dramatically since covid. I don't blame this restaurant per se, but it is noticeable. Now a $25 lunch (without liquor) is normal. read more

Our family loves this restaurant the food, drinks & service are incredible as well as the ambiance! the Manager is a professional and courteous. we happened to celebrate our friends birthday and only indicated once that it was and the wonderful staff surprised our friend and made it a truly special day for us! read more

Food is very good Tex Mex style. Servings are quite ample and the prices reasonable considering the amount served. So come hungry. Service is attentive, polite and friendly. Large cantina type setting, bright, with both booths and tables. The only negative is the cleaning solution used in the dining area is at times overwhelmingly smelly. Owners need to use something else less irritating. It takes away from a wonderful meal. read more

The menu is quite large, I love everything I've tried. The table side guacamole is great. Simple and fresh. Service is always solid. It's one of the bigger restaurants in the area so I highly recommend for large parties. Owners a kind guy too. Met him a few times during construction. read more

We have been here several times. The food was great, large selection. The table service was right on top of our needs and was polite and efficient. We went here after the rehearsal of my daughter's wedding in Saugerties. At first it did not look too busy, but honestly, a place such as this would do a lot more business for happy hour and dinner. We were seated promptly, handed menus, and brought a nice warm basket of tortilla chips, along with the customary salsa...AND a plate of re-fried beans! Don't know if this is typical in other places or not, but it's the first time I've ever seen it...nice touch. I ordered a mojito, which was swimming with fresh lime, and refreshing. My meal was a combo with a beef burrito and a chicken chimichanga. Both fresh and hit the spot. The others at my table has street tacos and a seafood quesadilla. We all finished our plates so I guess they enjoyed theirs as well. For those familiar with Puerta Vallarta in Conn. the decor, atmosphere, drink and menu selections were very similar, so if you like one, I guess you'll like the other. Personally I'd love to try them for dinner next time we're in the area! read more

For such a big restaurant that has a full parking lot, you get in immediately and are quickly served chips, salsa and a yummy bean dip. Drinks are HUGE for how reasonably priced. So are plates, and they are delicious through and through. Staff are impeccable. Special shout-out to Raul!! Thank you! read more

I came back with my husband and family. We had a nice time and they had no issues serving 7 of us at the table. The food was hot & delicious. The third time we went back, not so good. The waiter was inattentive and the food wasn't as good as the last two times. I'm hoping it was just a bad night. read more

Ok let me start by saying I've never been a fan of Mexican food but I want to expand my palette and try different foods. This dine in experience really opened up my eye to the delicious options Mexican food has to offer. The Camarones Al Chipotle is so good I order it every time. The portions are huge and the menu is not lacking in variety. Staff is always great so it's a pleasure to dine in. This is the best place to have a family dinner (especially for special occasions). read more

The food was okay, nothing to rave about. My server was great, no problems there. However, I'm frustrated by the menu being misleading. When ordering a combination plate, the menu says add sour cream and guacamole for $3. However, I was charged $5.50 and the reason I was given was because it is $3 for each or a deluxe discount of $0.50. For the portion I was given, it absolutely wasn't worth it. read more

Always Great food and drinks !! And the service is always great .specially mojitos . Very hard to find someone that makes great mojitos

This food establishment came on like Roman Candel, but sadly, it has fizzled out. I can't count on one hand how many times this, a place that features a guacamole station, has run out of avacado. Are they not paying the produce bill, or is it bad management? This issue is dwarf by the fatty steak meat used in the Carne Asada and other places on the menu. This used to be a game changer. Lastly...what use is it to have a menu laiden with pictures if the food doesn't come out looking like it does on the menu? We have had an influx of South Americans to the Hudson Valley, and along with them came a hunger for the flavors of home. This is evident with all the new South American restaurants popping up all around the Hudson Valley in recent days. Consumers are aware of good food...WE NOTICE. In closing, one could only wish the food was half as good as the service was. read more

The food is diabolical. The drinks are awful and it's over priced. The rice on everyone's plates was greasy and stuck together. The food was room temp at best. Nothing is cooked fresh. Do yourself a favor and skip this dump!!! read more

Beautiful, delicious, fun. Small regional chain from a family that knows how to run a restaurant. The Mariachi was fabulous

While I love the ambiance and the food is pretty good, there is a concern with the drinks and communication. On the menu it clearly states a gran margarita is margarita with top shelf tequila. The bartender started making the drinks with well Tequila. I mentioned that the menu says top shelf and he changed it. The problem is double charges us for the drinks. $17 each? Seriously. I think he thought we asked for something different than the menu said. With that said, we will not be going back due to this miscommunication. This is also not the first time. We should have been charged the regular price for the gran margarita. We were also ignored for at least 5 minutes while sitting at the bar. Sad because we like the place but as of bow, we will not go back read more

Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The enchiladas, the rice, the beans, incredible. Incredible portions too. Awesome atmosphere, great service, our server Nicole was awesome. Will be back when my family and I are in town. Mucho gracias read more

Excellent food, excellent service, I love that they made the guacamole fresh at our table. The Mariachi band was lovely, but if you're looking for a quiet evening to spend with friends, your conversation will not be heard over the music! I love the music...just take it down a notch! read more

Great food and service. Open on Mondays which seems to be an issue in the area. Servings and drinks were supersized.

I'll be short and sweet. Ate at Casa Vallarta in the Town of Ulster/Lake Katrine for lunch today and it was incredible. Restaurant was super clean and organized, portion sizes were huge, service was polite and prompt, and the meal was fresh. Can't say enough good things. The chips and salsa they give you are an added treat. Check the place out if you're craving Mexican food. Really really impressed. read more

This is not real Mexican food. Edible, yes. Authentic, no. We ordered enchiladas and the sauce and cheese on top tasted like pizza. The beans are regular canned refried beans, the salsa that goles with the chips tastes like Tostitos. Now, I'm fine with simple, store-bought flavors, but I can get those in a jar in the supermarket. When I go to a Mexican restaurant I expect more complex flavors. I have been to hole-in-the-walls with real Mexican flavors-deep smoky salsas, rich, sophisticated sauces and moles. This place is not it. read more

Extensive drink and food menu. Very nice atmosphere. Very good food...we had Chile rellenos, enchilada and ceviche dinner. All were very high quality justifying the somewhat high price point (tops out at $32). Overall excellent dinner marred by parents who feel they should subject their shreeking spawn-of-satan progeny to the rest of the restaurant. Toddler size ball gags should be an option at checkin area. read more

Large and spacious with nice decor. Good service. The food highlight to me was the guacamole -- thick, chunky and tasted great. Spice levels for all the food were mild and nothing spicier/hotter available. Taco salad, tortilla soup and enchiladas were all good and hot when served. A very enjoyable Saturday lunch. read more

Absolutely incredible food and service! The Birria quesadilla is delicious. Great atmosphere. Can't wait to come back.

Yummy! Warning: two can split one dish. They are HUGE delicious servings!!! They welcome you with chips and salsa AND absolutely yummy refried beans! I got the enchiladas camarones and my bf got seafood burrito. Both were outstanding! The drinks looked super fun too! I loved the rice!!! It was kind of a light green color and really good. The pinto beans were on point. Zero complaints, great service, and really a super enjoyable dining experience. Really fun and safe atmosphere too read more

My husband and I tried this place today even though it received 3.8. The place is huge. We both ordered the steak quesadilla. The portions are huge but the quesadilla was so greasy. I have no gallbladder and the grease gave me instant acid reflux and later a belly ache. Neither my husband or I ate very much due to this grease. I expect a little better quality in a restaurant this isn't taco bell read more

Wow! This place has the best and most authentic Mexican food I've had east of the Mississippi River. We're visiting from Georgia to see family in Ulster Park. My savvy local brother-in-law raved about CV so we had to check it out. I Yelped it, in advance, and the reviews were fantastic and the photos of the food had my mouth watering. We had a party of eight and got seated right away. Our server was Jayme and he was on point the whole time. Try the wing appetizer. The wings were piping hot and served plain - with dipping sauces on the side (so non-spicy folks can partake, too.). The taste is amazing. They have a huge selection of margaritas to chose from. I haven't had an "authentic" chili relleno sine I left CA in the 90's. I ordered a combo plate with two rellenos, retried beans and Spanish rice. These rellenos were perfect! Poblano peppers full of melted Monterey Jack cheese and a light battered coating. All in all it was an incredible dining experience. Kudos to Jayme and all the restaurant staff for preparing and serving perhaps the best Mexican food (and wings) that I've had in a long time. Check it out. read more
