I love Mexican food and am very interested in the various ancient cultures of Mexico. I have been to the Arango Cafe twice now. The food is tasty, good portions, very clean and appealing interior and varied menu with lots of interesting breakfast options. Service was good. The experience both times was fine. They have put substantial effort and resources into this place, with nice lighting, desert displays, and bright, large laminated menus with nice pictures and descriptions. The issue was the after effects of eating the food. Both times I had negative stomach/ digestive problems for several days and nights after eating at the Arango Cafe. Without going into too much detail, I suffered substantial discomfort and would go as far as describing it as an illness requiring repeated visits and time spent in the bathroom. I suspect that it has to do with the shortening, or perhaps lard that is being used. Both times I had the flan (custard dessert), so perhaps that was an issue. Nice little café in an unassuming strip mall. Setup inside is a little odd - when you walk in, you see drink and ice cream options on a big chalkboard, and it's not clear whether this is a quick-serve place or traditional restaurant. It turns out it's both, which explains the confusion. Service was warm, friendly, attentive, and efficient. Food was delicious, especially the house-made hot sauces (which I found to be not very hot, but I'm a former Californian dining out in New York, so YMMV). I got the sopes and found the portions to be a bit large for me, but it would have been a good amount of food for my husband. My husband got a regular burrito and found it to be large but not overly so. Music played inside was somewhat repetitive (I think they were playing one of those "ambience" videos on YouTube, and the music loop was pretty short); otherwise, no notes. Came here early on Saturday for breakfast: had this great coffee that was lightly sweetened and had a touch of cinnamon- delicious. We had 2 breakfast sandwiches- ingredients were so fresh and delicious. We could hear the eggs beaten in the back for our orders. I've been to Arango cafe several times and it's always a good experience. I get the vegetarian tacos (usually vegetarian doesn't work with taquerias) but theirs are wonderful; I think it's the homemade tortillas and quality ingredients. Mad at myself for not coming here sooner. The food was cooked perfectly. Tons of flavor and the perfect amount of heat in their sauces. Our server was really nice and seemed so happy that we enjoyed our food. It was quiet when we went it but I have the feeling they get busy during normal business hours. We sat ourselves and the waiter came right over to get our drink order and give us menus. I felt like the wait time in between ordering and getting our food wasn't long, but long enough to know it's cooked fresh right there. This breakfast definitely made my tummy happy. i've been to this restaurant multiple times and I am never disappointed by their food or their portions. Some people complain about prices I'm willing to pay a little more for a quality product. This place was the bees knees. We just finished up teaching at a conference nearby at the convention center and needed some tacos. I got the carne asade and my wife got the tacos, and we shared because that's what we do. The server was very attentive and boasted about their hot sauce, home made, and came in red and green. The red was hot - too hot for my hot wife but perfect for me - and the green was delicious. I wanted to buy some to take home, maybe next year if they offer it. I was visiting the HV area with my family for a few days and was pleasantly surprised to find Arango. We live in Austin, TX so it was really nice to have some delicious al pastor and steak tacos so far from home. The churros were tasty too and the service was friendly. Maybe we'll come back again. Came here for an early dinner on a weekend. Newer restaurant so there weren't very many people and no wait. Interior is very bright and colorfully decorated. The chips and salsa were excellent. Everything is made in house. Chips were perfectly crispy and the perfect thickness. Salsa was amazing too with a touch of sweetness. Fish tacos were also excellent. Fish was perfectly deep fried and the flavors were great. They really pack each taco with a generous amount of fish. Also loved their home made hot sauces, especially the green one. The deep fried Oaxacan quesadilla was good. We've never had this dish elsewhere so we don't have anything to compare it to. But it was very cheesy and well deep fried. Finished off with some amazing churros fresh from the deep fryer. Will definitely come back here again! Every bit was made with the utmost care for quality and craftsmanship: the Tortillas were homemade, the salsa was the perfect consistency and flavor, the fillings were chopped to ensure EVERY bite was the perfect bite, and the homemade hot sauces had a perfect heat/flavor ratio. We happened to stumble upon this gem after my daughter said she wanted tacos. The tortillas are freshly made and everything was made to order. The fish tacos were perfection!!! I think the best fish tacos I have ever had! The mango salsa and the sauce were just harmonious in the mouth! We also got chicken tostadas which were also good. The steak tacos, beef was a little tough- we should have tried the pork tacos instead Overall it was delicious and they had a bunch of other treats as well.
