Really loved the bright decor and cozy, warm dining room with a fire place- perfect for winter dinner. Service was friendly and prompt and despite being busy the food came out pretty quick. Menu was interesting with both Mexican and Italian options. Awesome that they have "combination" plates so that you can try a little of everything. Loved the house chips + salsa and I really enjoyed my shrimp rellenos dish! The shrimp enchiladas were also tasty. The shrimp tacos were quite underseasoned and the big boy chipotle burrito was underwhelming per others at the table. I thought the beans were tasty but the rice not as flavorful as I like. The tortilla soup appetizer was soooo delicious and my favorite part of the meal!! The very favorable recommendations of our NY family (that we're visiting) took us to Casa Villa. CV has a quaint dining area and a full service bar. The servers are friendly and helpful. Great SERVICE. Great food and they don't charge extra for Salsa and chips. Santa Fe in Woodstock does! No other Mexican restaurants in the area do. Casa villa food is good, affordable and value on the plate. The guacamole is plentiful and fresh just as good as the guacamole from another great Mexican restaurant, Gaby's. Their Margaritas are wonderful! Try a pitcher! We have never had a bad meal there! When we crave enchiladas and burritos we always choose Casa Villa! What a really great hidden gem! The food here is top notch and easily takes the cake over other more popular spots in the area. Secretly I am kind of glad not many people realize this so it is never too crowded and the service is always extremely attentive. If you're in a drinking mood (and who isn't these days?) you have to try one of their frozen margaritas. You can get these as a single or by the pitcher and they are equally as delicious as the food you will be eating shortly thereafter. In the warmer months they have a nice serene little patio out back that makes you feel like you are anywhere but the city of Kingston. Definitely a spot to check out and worth every penny! read more

Oh My! This is definitely a diamond in the rough. By far one of the best Mexican restaurant I've had and this is definitely the best in the area. One thing I keep ordering here is their chimichangas (One group beef and one chicken chimichanga. Served with guacamole and sour cream.) under their combination dinners. This also comes with rice and beans. They serve chips and salsa before your meal comes out. Servers are tentative and give awesome suggestions. What more can I say about this place? Good spot for food - while I wasn't floored by the food, I wasn't disappointed either. What really earned the 4th star was the waiter - he was the only person waiting tables, he didn't write anything down and he got everyone's orders correct. He was super friendly, made great recommendations, and was attentive without being obtrusive. I liked that the menu had options other than standard "restaurant Mexican," so I feel like I could bring my whole family and nobody would be put out by the choice. The portions were also perfect - the Botana Mexicana for Two really was perfectly sized for the two of us. Our only (very minor) complaint was that there wasn't enough meat on the nachos to bother with - if it wasn't there, I wouldn't have missed it, but since it was there, there should've been more. Must try the sopapilla! I stumbled upon this place while on a road trip. At first, it may seem like any other house in the neighborhood. The entrance is toward the back of the parking lot. My friend and I were courteously greeted and seated right away. It took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted to eat, so the waitress brought us water and chips and salsa. I ordered a margarita on the rocks with salt. It was very refreshing and good! One of my friends had a sangria-I also tried it-it was even better than my margarita! I ordered the enchiladas and we shared the sopapilla dessert. All I have to say is that we were in heaven! We ended the night with several dessert shots (khalua + tequila rose) and calles it a night. Overall, a great experience! The customer service was top notch, the waitress kept checking in on us and all the other tables. This place was impeccably clean and very cozy. Last night 6 of decided to try Mexican. It was a bad choice. We went at 6:30 and got our food at 8. One ordered an appetizer that never came. Two ordered black bean soup that never came!! Some of us ordered fajita. I thought fajitas were supposed to be sizzling hot. The dish was barely warm. Other people came and ate and left before we were even served!! We will never go again. This place was nice. Wouldn't have gone it if our car dealer hadn't recommended it because it's not that noticeable from the road. We went in on a Thursday night and it had a lively young crowd so I assume it's got a good following. For me though, food was OK and service was a bit too slow. Best Mexican food I've ever had! The Flautas was very flavorful and came in a HUGE portion. Their guacamole is AMAZING!! What stood out to me more is that it is very family oriented. The servers are the owners sons, the owner was tending bar and just very active in the business. A couple next to us had a young baby who was getting restless and their server actually held the baby so his mom could enjoy her food. The absolute most rude restaurant owner I have ever encountered. I went to the restaurant mid day on a Sunday while waiting for my friends to go on our Sunday motorcycle ride. As I sat at the bar... 3 other people at the front end. I was ignored for about 10 minutes. I then asked For a menu and a drink. As I waited I heard someone call to ask if they had a menu item. He vaguely answered and then hung up. Made snarky remarks to the bar about the caller... who then called right back and I hear him reply... yes this is the same place you called and it's the same answer yes we have ... and hung up again. Idk I've just never seen anyone ever treat customers the way he did and I was in the restaurant business for years. Then I ordered my food... and In about 5 mins my friend asked me to bring her something back, which seemed to be another absolute inconvenience, He was rude to me and rude as he spoke about others. A very, very good restaurant in Kingston, in my opinion, is hard to find. Anyone familiar with K-Town knows that there are many Mexican spots in the area. I noticed the sign and it drew me in. The atmosphere here is actually quite warm and very laid back. A good amount of people were there watching the Yankee game at the bar and I waited while getting my takeout. I had an appetizer that when I saw it in the menu, I HAD to jump on it. Three words had me: Queso con Chorizo. OMG!!! It was too good. A bowl of hot, nacho cheese sauce with hearty chunks of chorizo. My tortilla chips were very happy to be dipped in this wonder of yellow liquid. Their house salsa is extremely fresh and bursting with onions and cilantro. I love cilantro. I love the taste. I love this salsa. I ordered their burrito platter which had one cheese, one chicken and one beef. They were sizable and extremely tasty. Even the rice and beans that usually would disappoint when included in a typical Mexican plate were really damn good. The food took some time to prepare but I'm probably one of the 10 people on the planet that doesn't mind that. It means that it's homemade and carefully prepared. If you want the illusion of homemade, yet fast plate, I suggest Applebee's. You want to taste REAL chef skills, come here. The menu is extensive and they even have a seperate Italian menu, which sparked my curiousity but I wanted Mexican. Plus, all who know me are aware of my feelings about Italian cuisine in the Mid-Hudson Valley. I get it...pasta = cheap to make = MO Money to take. My issue is that in this area, there's Italian restaurants on every corner. You think that Starbucks is invading? Keep dreaming. Very good Mexican cuisine. Borders more on "Tex-Mex", but that is what most people in the Northeast like, anyway. Staff and service are both always very friendly, prompt and graciously attentive. I have been here about 6 times so far and each time has been very consistant in both food quality and service. I've tried several different dishes each time, also. The margheritas are pretty good- definitely not the best I've had, but they rate well enough with me. Prices are certainly resonable and the atmosphere is both casual and festive. I find the electronic waterwall picturescape mural on the back wall of the dining area to be a little "cheesy" but, otherwise, the overall atmosphere is pleasant to behold for this type of establishment. The only effort our waitress put into our "service" was when she wrote in an 18% tip for herself onto my credit card receipt before she gave it to me to sign! I live in NYC and eat out at least once a week and have NEVER had this happen especially for such subpar service. And we were a table of 3 so it couldn't even have been a group charge. On top of that had to wait over an hour for our food, was only supplied with a butter knife for a steak, which ended up not even being the right cut ordered from the menu anyway. After multiple attempts to get her attention to finally bring a steak knife, had to attempt multiple times to get her attention again in order to get some hot sauce (in what kind of Mexican restaurant do you have to ASK for hot sauce???) which was the cheap supermarket bottle kind and not fresh made. At $20 a plate I would expect AT LEAST some fresh-made hot sauce. The food was beyond bland, except for the buffalo calamari which was fine but was just a cheap mix of BBQ sauce and mayo which is in no way authentic Mexican. My fault though, our first red flag as to the authenticity of the food should have been the fact that we were the only latin people in there. I know Kingston has a decent sized Mexican population and if they don't eat there its not just because of the overpriced menu. That was a complete waste of the $100 that meal ended up costing me. read more

We went there years ago. My family, having to opportunity to eat Mexican food in Mexico City, Los Angeles, new York etc found the food to be disappointing. We went back with some friends to give it another try. Explained exhaustively about my wife's dairy allergy. We ordered plain broiled salmon. Just olive oil. What we got was scrod. The waiter said it was done as we ordered. My wife took 2 bites and ran to the bathroom. She was I'll all night long and is just getting over it. When I called the owner told me salmon was white when you dont use butter. Got belligerent and hung up. We had a doggie bag. I tasted the fish and it was soaked in butter. NEVER will try it again. They have their neighborhood clientele. New folks beware. Also my chicken enchiladas were actually filled with tough overcooked chicken. Not sure which was worst the food or the service. I had chicken fajitas which should be grilled vegs and chicken. Not here! They were cooked in a sauce pan with way too much oil. No seasoning - no flavor. Everything was cold, the beans so cold it was like they came right out of the can. Service was very very slow - took over 2 hours to get dinner and the place was half empty. I went to Casa Villa with my family while home in Kingston for the weekend. We got there fairly late on a Friday and found the restaurant still fairly full. We asked how long the wait would be and were told 10 or 15 minutes. We decided to stay since we were already there, so we sat at the bar and ordered a round of drinks. After about 45 minutes we were finally seated. We started off with the Buffalo Calamari, which was pretty good, and an order of Nachos. The nacho's were good, but could the portion was smaller than you usually find at Mexican restaurants. For my entree I ordered a burrito with chili Verde sauce. It was very good and plenty large enough to fill me. The service overall was very good, other than the long wait to be seated. I would definitely go back to Casa Villa again in the future. read more

Hand down best service ever. The owner and his family (Alexis and his brother? Not sure of their names) go above and beyond to make EVERYONE feel welcome and well-taken care of.
