b.overly_delicious @crazybowlz Kingston, NY: Ulster Eateries Unfiltered's January sponsor was Crazy Bowlz, in Kingston. Offering a unique blend of Asian and Mexican cuisine. Despite the cold weather we had a decent turn out. I think everyone enjoyed their food and company. Thank you Jenny for donating 4 gift cards to give away. We had enough boba and kimchi nachos to go around. Chicken pad Thai

Came here for dinner based on yelp search making it number 1 in Kingston. This is a fast food chain with tasty sounding items on their menu. Order from a walk up counter the. Your number is called to pick up the food. It is also not well lit for the evening. I ordered the lotus bun with pork belly and the chicken pad Thai. The pork belly comes in three buns. One of the pork belly was good, the other two were over cooked. However l, all three were completely covered with too much peanut and all had too much Hoisen sauce. Next, the chicken pad Thai was the worst pad Thai I ever had. The chicken was cut into little cubes which I imagine they use across many different items on the menu. The taste missed by a long shot and taste like too much sesame sauce with garlic. Even the noodle was more like a pasta. I have no idea how this came up as number one. By the way, I just checked again and now it's coming up number 8. Forget rankings and read reviews!

We weren't expecting the food to be as good as it was... Surprisingly delicious! We ordered: Strawberry milk boba tea: pretty good, I usually get it with a coconut milk I think it was made with a cream or something it tasted a bit different but I enjoyed it! Two cans of "Dr Pepper and cream" soda (YUM) Grilled chicken quesadilla: perfect cheese to chicken ratio, came with sour cream and a salsa that tasted so authentic and delicious I could have drank it, just the right amount of spice! Steak tacos: they offered tomato or mango salsa, we got mango salsa it was so good!!! They have a different menu than most places but it was interesting and we enjoyed it all!

I like everything about this place except for their dinning area. It was pretty chilly inside and made me almost want to eat in my car. The pork belly was great, so was the wonton but it was warm not hot. I'm sure I'll be back to try some other menu items.

Interesting fusion menu well prepared. It's a shame that they don't get more traffic.

Grilled chicken soft tacos - not a bowl, not crazy, still good

Korean beef and kimchi nachos? That's just Crazy! Well... that is the idea. I'm not a fan of "This meets that meets another thing" types of write-ups - and I'll hate myself in the morning for doing this - but this place feels like the best of Chipotle meets PF Changs meets Corelife. Even better, it's a local business I can directly patronize! I wish I had been a little less crazy with my first order there, a more traditional set of grilled chicken soft tacos. I enjoyed them, but a couple of nits: (1) The pico comes out in a little refrigerated plastic container; let it warm up for better taste and contrast on the food, and (2) The soft tortillas stick together, and the middle one opened up as I tried to pick up the first one. Not a problem, I grabbed a fork and ate it "deconstructed" style. The other taco ingredients were fairly basic, but the grilled chicken was very good. The space is large and comfortable, especially that couch in the center where I could relax while waiting for my order to be ready. I see myself "kickin' up the crazy" in some future visits to either this one and/or the one in New Paltz. I hope they have those nachos on the menu again.

Crazy Bowls is a delicious option if you're looking for Asian or Mexican inspired dishes. They have several different premade bowl choices as well as the option to build your own. I typically get the Pad Thai with chicken or tofu, but I have had other options like their bibimbap and build your owns. They also have options like dumplings, quesadillas, and fried chicken for anyone not feeling like having a noodle or rice bowl. The service is usually pretty fast, though the style is more like a fast food restaurant where your food is given to you at the counter. The interior isn't really anything special, but it does the job for the restaurant. My only complaint comes from the fact that I had visited and eaten at this establishment pre-Covid and I personally feel like the food quality has gone down slightly. Not by enough to make me not want to visit, but definitely not what it was in its prime!

The food, bubble teas, and flavored soju are so good here! Great portions! I had bulgogi nachos, bulgogi lotus buns, a salad bowl with grilled lamb, and Thai tea with tapioca. The meat was so juicy and delicious. They all were so good. The service was fast. The place was clean and spacious. I highly recommend it!

Huuuuuuuuge portions. Absolute unit of a bowl. Flavor is interesting too; Asian-Mexican fusion. Nice and quick dinner on the way back from Catskill.

Yummy I really enjoy the food here even though the options can be overwhelming! Obviously not great location or atmosphere (kind of a fast foodish) but definitely would recommend trying! Ordered the yellow curry bowl with Cantonese noodles and grilled chicken.. sooo yummy! Perfect amount of spice and flavor, and ingredients all tasted super fresh. Also order the fried chicken lotus buns- AMAZING! Some of the best I've had. We ordered the veggie spring rolls app which came with 3 large rolls, they were pretty standard. I also had a lavender milk bubble tea that I loved! I've ordered a mango milk tea here once before that I didn't think was properly mixed (was chalky and strange tasting) but this one did the trick.. delish. Very very reasonable pricing for something different. Lots of tofu options for vegetarians and also some cool beef/lamb options, too. Kind of a hidden gem amongst all the chains on this strip.

It's a huge space with a lot of room for regular and hibachi tables, with modern decor. Service is very friendly and consistent which is not always the case with these kinds of places. They had an issue with one of the vents while we were here, however they quickly fixed it. Just needed to leave the back door open for a bit. Drinks were on the sugary side which is typical; my mai thai was good however I couldn't do 2. Soup and salad were good. Chef was one of the better hibachi chefs I've gotten. Wish they flipped shrimp instead of veggies for an appetizer, but hey, recession. More importantly than the presentation and show (which was good), they did a really good job with the food. Steak was perfectly cool if a bit over seasoned. Scallops were seared better than I've had at a lot of fancier restaurants. Massive portions too when the veggies, noodles and rice were factored in too. Of course my food got switched at home, and I got a fuckton of chicken instead of my steak. I mourned this, however will survive to return again.

What had happened was, thanks to hubs, he found Kingston Wok located in one of the many plazas on Ulster Ave in Kingston. Despite its strip small location, inside, looks anything but. The frontal has a bar area and is decked out with large plants. Their flaming red+black dining room hits you hard with lantern lamps giving out a nice glow to the already dim area. Hubs enjoyed his dumpling soup and charred pork ribs as he requested and pork fried rice. The fried wonton strips were divine+fresh tasting and my Thai Chili crispy red snapper fillet, was more than I could chew. But it was also busy. And while the sauce on the fish had a subtle heat, it was a gloppy heap of it. What's more, I was about to reheat my leftovers and actually noticed the red dye sauce at home. It was a turn-off. We'll return- but I'll go for non-saucy menu items next time. Our server was fast on his feet though and my Lychee Martini had nice strength.

Here's a polished review that stays honest while keeping it fair and balanced:…read more Agave in New Paltz offers a modern, fusion-style take on Mexican-inspired cuisine rather than authentic Mexican food. If you're expecting traditional Mexican flavors, just know this restaurant leans more toward upscale fusion than classic Mexican dishes. The food is good, and everything we've tried has been flavorful, although the portions are on the smaller side. The prices are reasonable for the quality and presentation, and the atmosphere has more of a cozy, date-night vibe than a casual Mexican restaurant. One suggestion I'd make is to expand the salsa selection. For a restaurant centered around Mexican-inspired cuisine, offering a few house-made, original salsas would really elevate the experience and make it feel more authentic. The restaurant itself is fairly small, so it's not the best choice for large groups. Parking can also be a challenge since there's no dedicated lot--it's street parking only, so be prepared to drive around until you find a spot. Overall, Agave is a nice place if you're looking for creative fusion dishes in a relaxed setting. Just go in expecting modern Mexican-inspired cuisine rather than traditional Mexican food, and you'll likely enjoy the experience.
