An interesting and deeply authentic menu, not a giant, lengthy menu but from what I can see, smell and taste each dish is made with high quality ingredients to your satisfaction. I got the Green Chilaquiles with eggs scrambled with chorizo and a small horchata. Fresh made chips, flavorful green sauce and the horchata was delicious. Make sure to patronize this special place, hosted by special folks. Stopped on my way home for some takeout dinner (for me and hubby). The place is ran by husband and wife team and the wife is so nice and friendly. We had small talk and she shared how they expanded and now have the space next door for dining. The room is nice and the tables are beautiful. She said they were hand made by them. We ordered steak and carnitas tacos and the chicken tinga burro (which is burrito). The tacos are large. Hubby had 4 and was full! And for me I was only able to eat half the burrito, leaving me with lunch today, yay! The red and green sauces were delicious and I'm so happy we stumbled upon this place again. We loved this delicious, family-run restaurant that has a warm feel and home cooked food. Our homemade chips and spicy guacamole were off the charts, as were our sopes and enchiladas. Not only is the feel so welcoming and the food delicious, but the most expensive menu item is $13.99. It is such an incredible meal for that price, and the portions are so generous that it's a no-brainer. I can't wait to eat it again tomorrow! Conflicted. I'd give the aqua fresca 5 stars (guava, yum), the enchiladas 3 stars, and the taco 1 star, so my overall review is "meh, ok. The enchiladas are good but the flavor hits in a way that I felt was almost too much, so I oscillated between enjoying it and disliking it... confusing. Generous portion and the beans are delicious. The taco was an absolute disaster. I am "flexitarian" which means I'm primarily vegetarian but make exceptions, especially for tacos. I wish I hadn't made this exception. Couldn't wait to take the first bite, until I quickly realized that this was some of the driest meat I've ever tasted. I mean like... Pulverized. Inedible. One bite was all I got. Yummy, super authentic, family owned Mexican food. So authentic that the mom helping her daughter with her homework got up to start cooking after we placed our orders. Everything we had was very flavorful. I had the enchiladas with salsa verde. My husband had the torta and it was HUGE. Our friends raved about the sopes. Service was ok, but it was literally mom and teenage son as the "employees" so I'll forgive that we had empty waters for the majority of the meal because I like to support family businesses. Portions were big. Everyone around us ordered the nachos. And they looked amazing. I have to say the sauce on our enchiladas was soooo good. What an incredibly delicious meal. The restaurant is in an unassuming strip mall. We ordered the steak torta sandwich, pork adobo, and fried tortillas with Al pastor, carnitas, and steak. Everything was so darn good! The adobo sauce blew me away with the amount of flavor and perfect amount of spice. The pork was tender and I couldn't stop eating.
