My co-diners ordered combo plates with enchiladas (one red sauce, one green) which were pretty good but it was hard to discern much under the morass of sauce and cheese. My order was less satisfying - three chicken Mexican tacos. The portion was generous (usually a plus) but the chicken was extremely dry. Small cozy place here for sure. I placed a to go order and I will say the guy working here was attentive taking my order and mostly friendly. So after the usual wait came back and my food was bagged abs ready for me to go. The chicken soup was delicious, plenty of shredded chicken and good amount of rice, just wish there more broth, since it was really good and very flavorful without being too salty like some soups can be. Now the combo 19, which is cool they have combo plates, the chicken chimichanga was great, nice big chunks of chicken in the rolled tortilla and that itself was fried just right, but kinda of oily. Side of rice was alright, love that it plain rice and not some rice with random veggies undercooked, plus this place actually salts the rice rather then others where the rice is so plain as hell. The beef burrito buried underneath the grilled cheese was bit of let down, very cafeteria style with bland beef and under seasoned tomato sauce. The chicken enchilada underneath the same cheese was better, same quality chicken as the chimichanga seasoned well and nice big chunks of chicken to fill the tortilla space. Live locally and this is one of the best spots around. Still feel like they are the best margaritas around! The salsa is my favorite, I could eat a zillion cheese quesadillas (complimentary). So we recently tried them the first week of may 2023 and I was pleasantly surprised. - we ordered multiple meals and one nachos with cheese app. Our order was takeout. The food was cooked perfectly and tasted great. - the service however to pickup takeout was confusing and slow, I waited 15 minutes after the scheduled time. - the place was packed with 20 and 30 somethings that were more interested in the bar and drinking. The customers were rude and loud. So I can't give a 5 star review because I am interested in takeout and getting the takeout means dealing with drunk rude kids that block the takeout area of the bar. We ordered takeout for four, we ordered 2 sides of Guac that came with crispy huge amounts of homemade chips . Steak fajitas full of meat, tasted incredible,so tender & flavorful. The chicken was generous in portion & fresh, our dinners were all great in portion , we were excited to try everything it all looked so good ! The chef doesn't oversalt the food , you may need a salt shaker for the chips which I did for mine but the dinners were nicely seasoned . Went here with my husband last weekend, I was craving enchiladas, rice and beans and a margarita. We wanted to try a new local spot. I saw pictures others have posted of the perfectly melted cheese on top and I was sold. The restaurant was empty and we had it totally to ourselves. We started off with a margarita and a tequila sunrise. The drinks were strong and cold. They served us the complimentary chips & salsa (fresh, homemade and not too spicy) and a cheese quesadilla (piping hot). My husband ordered soup, and he devoured the delicious broth. I had my chicken enchiladas with red sauce and they were everything I had hoped for and more. We also ordered ceviche, fresh and delicious. The staff were also super kind and friendly people. At first I was hesitant to try Zona Rosa, but I'm very glad I have. This little restaurant in the village of Walden pumped out some serious eats. With only a few tables, Zona Rosa has a very quaint and intimate atmosphere. As far as location is concerned, there isn't a Mexican restaurant within several miles, so they've got that going for them. All our food, takeout mind you, was fantastic. Shrimp ceviche tasted fresh, with a good amount of shrimp. The chilaquiles were nice, as was the salsa and chips that came with our order. Love that they threw it in even though we ate our food at home. I requested mixiote on the phone, but the receptionist said they didn't have it, and recommended the pork chop with chipotle sauce. It was by far the highlight of the meal, as the sauce was bursting with flavor layered over two giant pork chops, all served with rice and beans. We really liked this place, and look forward to going back, especially to eat in! read more

I came to Zona Rosa after a tour of The Angry Orchard Cider House. I researched it on Yelp and saw the great ratings so I wanted to give it a try. All-in-all: MEH! The food was good but I've had way better. I had the burrito, enchilada and chimichanga combo and my boyfriend has a Caeser salad and chicken quesadilla. The best part of the meal was a complimentary mini-cheese quesadilla. That was the star of the meal. The best part of the place was the staff. They were really nice and extremely attentive. I live about an hour away so it will be a while before I come back. If you are reading this and heading for the Cider House, I would recommend getting food from their food truck. I ordered a take out. We had the combo number 45 (chicken enchiladas, poblano pepper, chicken chimichanga), some steak tacos, some cheese quesadillas and guacamole with chips. If you are new to the area, you're probably not seeing this place and I want to make sure it's understood that it is in fact a hidden gem. The guacamole was creamy and delicious. Not one of those chewy lemony last minute things but really well done, and their chips I believe are home made. The steak tacos, very delicious with the pepper and cheese melt in it, the steak portion was satisfying. Some don't put enough meat in it, this was absolutely a meaty old style soft shell taco. We loved the combo 45 plate, it was with beans and rice, enchilada and chimichanga was so good. I especially loved the poblano pepper, which is spicy but after a couple seconds the heat goes away. Everything was good. Prices are a teeny bit high, but the service and the taste really makes it okay. My one advice would be maybe do tacos a little cheaper so we can order more:) The ambience is very lovely, the lady who took my order was very sweet. Hard working people, I can tell. There's a small bar area in the back, so you can sit in the green light and get some drinks, be merry and all that with delicious food. Clean environment. If I had to choose my last meal, Zona Rosa would be making it for me! This is my favorite resturant! Customer service is fabulous! Family owned, Dad, Mom, and Daughter all work together, each bringing out different parts of your meal. The cheesey, buttery quesadilla starts as your appeitizer, which could be reason enough to go there! And chips and salsa are perfect! My husband always orders the pork chops with the green sauce..... YUM! Im always trying different things and each meal is almost better then the last! Dessert is actually my least favorite of the courses, yet it's still delicious, flan or bananna flavored (excuse my spelling...) Chimmychanga(? Lol). Then I ordered a slice to go yes that good.Paid our bill and wewere waved to with goodbye as we left, keeping them there an hour after closing, they were still as kind as can be. All that plus our drinks the bill with a nice tip came to 100 bucks I believe the bill part was 68.00. This is a hidden gem, a perfect detour from Angry Orchard- authentic, delicious, carefully prepared food that is as good as it gets: their mole sauce is unbeatable. This was the worst Mexican food I have ever ate in my life. The food had no flavor at all. I had to use my flashlight on my phone because the lighting was so poor. This place was terrible. What a disappointment. Our visit was a while ago, so I apologize in advance for forgetting some details. My wife and I are always on the hunt for good Mexican food. We read about this place on Yelp and thought, "let's give it a whirl." I believe, at the time, it had a five star rating. My only guess (in retrospect) is that the people giving those high marks were given "incentives" for their positive participation or were employees and family. Here's what happened. My wife and I arrived around dinner time on a weekend, so we were expecting a crowd. It was empty. Bad sign. But we were hungry and we were there, so... OK. We were 'greeted' by a waiter, who couldn't have been more than 15, after standing in a darkly lit doorway for a minute or two. He all but grunted a 'hello' and sat us along the wall. After looking through a fairly standard menu, we waited (for what seemed like an eternity) for the boy to come back and take our order. I am not exaggerating when I say that he came back and said, "what do you want?" I almost laughed out loud. I ordered a burrito and my wife ordered a plate of enchiladas (I think). I also ordered a soda and we both asked for water. The soda was delivered in a cup, no ice, and came from a can, which I had heard him open and pour while standing behind a small counter. When our food came to the table, he plopped it all down without a word. No, "OK, here you go," or, "can I get you anything else," or, "enjoy." Not. A. Word. The food was underwhelming, to put it mildly. It was canned sauces, tortillas from Walmart, and barely seasoned meat. Disgusting. And expensive, considering. As we finished and the table was cleared, the kid was all of a sudden nice. As in, "it's tip time, better act better." My wife, kind soul that she is, still have an acceptable tip in the end. I didn't even want to pay for the little we actually ate. My tip was going to be telling him, "learn how to be a better waiter." All in all, a very bad experience. Normally I give restaurants a handful of chances. Everyone has bad days so you have to be fair. Not this place. I will never go back there and have taken great pleasure in telling other people to avoid it, too. Oh, and those sodas? We were charged for refills. All from cans. Last note: this place costed about 20% more than the average Mexican eatery. Avoid this restaurant. read more
