I've been driving by this place for years now always meaning to stop in. I finally did and am kicking myself for not going years ago. First of all, the service was top notch. As soon as you're seated they bring the chips and salsa, which are freshly made. A soft tortilla with a mild cheese follows within a couple of minutes. We had two things to eat before the menus were even brought. The kitchen was accommodating to our often picky kids and they were well pleased. I forget the name of the dish we ordered, bit it was basically a platter of steak, pork carnitas and crumbled chorizo. It was well seasoned; flavorful without being too salty, which is a fault I find in some Mexican restaurants. A plate of tortillas and a side of fresh veggies proved too much for my wife and I to finish. The kids' tacos disappeared in a few minutes. The rest of the family split some crispy churros with ice and whipped creams along with a drizzle of chocolate. I nursed a Mexican coffee, which was a nice cup of Joe with a generous shot of Kahlua and whipped cream. We will definitely be returning sooner than later. The price was reasonable, considering what we all thought was great food and friendly service. Well done! read more

Restaurant was clean and had good music playing. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated. The food is really good. I had the cheese enchiladas and my friend ordered the Mole. We go there to eat the chicken chimichangas every few months for lunch. It's very clean, consistent, inexpensive and pleasant. I like the ambiance due to fresh ethnic decor. Very uplifting. Though we don't drink alcohol, their bar area is quite nice. read more

Ahh forgot to take a pic but this place was really good!!! If youre in the area and craving Mexican food, stop by! They give you free appetizer of salsa and chips and the salsa is so yum and flavorful; slightly spicy and the chips are soo crispy and warm and taste so fresh. They gave us two rounds before our main dishes came out because we literally inhaled everything so fast lol. We also got guac and that was good too! I got the taco azteca and the taste, seasoning, and everything is good but my only negative would be the tortilla they use. Not sure if its homemade or store bought, but I personally didnt like the ones they use; tasted kinda stale and had a weird chewy texture-- ive only had with cheaper tortillas. My friends got fajitas and said it was rly yummy too. Overall, the staff is very friendly and they have both outdoor and indoor dining options. Staff is very social distance friendly; they have on their masks at all times, and the table seatings are a good distance apart. read more

First time there with my dad. Loved the decor, chips and salsa was yummy and our entrees were delicious!

Everyone had a great meal here. The chips, guacamole, and salsa were great. I didn't like the appetizer (a half of an avocado with shrimp and sauce of some kind). We did like everything else. We did order a half pitcher of white sangria and the server brought red, we drank it anyway. :) read more

My friend in Vernon took me all the way to Florida for Mexican food In KC, I eat Mexican 2-3 times week, alternating locations. We arrived and I noticed the restaurant appeared to be decorated for Cino De Mayo. We were promptly seated and chips and salsa was brought to us. We ordered Falutitas as an appetizer. They were delicious, mini taquitos. We each ordered the sampler, I don't remember what it was called. The tacos were mini tostadas, soft shells.There was guacamole of one of the items.. It was really good. I like samplers on Mexican restaurant menus, you get a little of all of it. For dessert my friend ordered a type of banana taquitos...oh my goodness, I really need to learn how to make them. They had a caramel syrup topping. They weren't on the menu, but the staff knew what she was talking about and made them for her. I had flan.... it was delicious. Tasted like caramel. Yummy! I loved the location, Florida, New York. Immediately I was taken in by the decorations and the way this place gives you the Mexican experience. The chips and sauce were absolutely delicious. The dipping sauce was fresh, homemade and just perfect with a slight kick. The BATHROOM was cleaner than my own.JK .LOL!! That in itself is a major plus. The servers were friendly and very fast. Very impressed. The food and service from the staff was quite good. The place is very well decorated for that Mexican cantina/hacienda look. The menu is very well put together with lots of authentic dishes. We were seated and a bowl of Nachos with Salsa was brought to our table along with two cheese Quesadillas. The salsa seemed homemade and had just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the taste buds. We ordered a Shrimp Ceviche and Shrimp Jalisco as our entrees. Both dishes were delicious. This place was awesome! The decorations are beautiful and authentic. I ordered the enchiladas suiza, it was great. I didn't love the green sauce, but that's probably more of a taste preference vs the actual quality of the sauce. I went here for a "girls night" we all had house margaritas on ice. I ordered 2 containers of guacamole for Fathers day, $10.95 each, it was horrible and what a rip off. I will NEVER go there again!

My God! We love, love, love El Azteca, but when our family wants Mexican, we don't mention the name. We ask, "Want to see Diego?" It's been that way for years. We've been there so many times, our favorite waiter, Diego, is like family. He practices Spanish with my daughter, asks how we are, hugs us when we come in. Now, it wasn't always like this. We were young and foolish once, two small children and restaurants often don't mix, but Diego was always so sweet and accommodating we never felt embarrassed or shamed when our son threw his taco meat on the floor or my daughter spilled her water. Now we beat them for that, so they don't do it anymore (just kidding ) and we have a lovely meal every time. Great atmosphere, very clean and festive. Lots of tables, room for large parties, excellent service from all the wait staff and you're seated immediately even if everyone appears busy. There's water on the tables without asking, you get crispy chips and delish salsa the minute you sit down and a free cheesy, hot tortilla with a little spice right after. We usually get the gauc when we go for an app. It's just the best we've ever had, and my kids get either the quesadilla or tacos, and the portions are always more than they can eat at a great price. Our favorite dish is something they make sort of custom: shrimp in green sauce with melted cheese on top. I've been eating it for years and I love all kinds of Mexican, I just can't resist the sauce. The rice and beans are always hot, the beans especially, and with melted cheese, they are to die for. We've had other things there in the past, some of the combination platters and steak dishes, but nothing really does it for me like the shrimp. Their desserts are decent, but we rarely have them. If we do, there's fried ice cream or tres leches cake which is heaven, but filling. The prices are very reasonable, the service exceptional every time, and the value is there percent! Excellent! I went for lunch today with a few work friends. The atmosphere is beautiful with Mexican artwork and decor. We immediately enjoyed the complimentary chips and Pico and mini quesadilla. Our server was very friendly and polite. The food came quickly and tasted delicious. I ordered the Tampiquena Naca which was a broiled steak and enchilada suiza and enchilada mole poblano. There was a side of mushroom, onions and peppers in a cream sauce that I loved. My 2 friends ordered the chimichangas and the bistek 3 amigos. They both thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. Upon returning to work I began advertising this restaurant immediately. I will certainly return to enjoy the dinner menu as well. read more

During covid I would get my weekly order of take out and leave a generous tip, (I was afraid they would go under ). Luckily our small community all gathered around this little restaurant and did the same- (thank Goodness for small towns!) Now the El Azteca is back and flourishing !!!
