I came here for lunch with a buddy about 15 minutes after it opened. The gentleman sat us at the bar and promptly took our drink order. We got a bay breeze and spicy margarita. I was hoping for a mule bit they were out of ginger beer, no big deal, though. They brought out chips and dip to start, I thought it was a bit spicy for my tasting, but I also am not a fan of spicy things, but I still found it very flavorful and good. We got quasadillas, 1 was the lunch special, and one was a normal loaded one. Both were very well made and a TON of food. The special came with rice and beans, which tasted great. Overall, for my first time here, I liked it and look forward to coming back and trying for things. The place was very cool inside, I love all the cultural artwork and murals. We were charged for drinks (non-alcoholic), rightfully so, but we then got charged an $11 bar fee for the fact we ordered a drink. We were also charged 20% gratuity automatically and it was just my husband, myself and 5 year old! Really. Then they charged us for paying with our card. What should have been a $30 meal was turned into $89!!! We just got mugged. I have the receipts if necessary. The food was bland and the meats were dry and chewy. read more

We stopped by this place to grab lunch and it was great. We were greeted by employees with a bright smile and they were very welcoming. The waitress we had was excellent and provided quick and efficient service. We ordered the Tamales (shredded chicken covered in a "dough" made of corn flour) and Sopa Negra (black bean soup) to start. I didn't get a chance to take photos because of how hungry we were but they were both delicious. The tamales (you get two) aren't your typical tamales; they're topped with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. We thought this was weird, but it turns out it was really good. The black bean soup was a typical black bean soup but just bursting with flavor. Both portions were perfect especially for the price. We also had two agua de Jamaica's and honestly weren't too impressed with it. It tasted a bit watered down. Not bad by any means but much different than a typical Jamaica that we've had at several other Mexican restaurants. For our entrees we got the Camarones Borrachos (grilled shrimp sauteed with onions, tomatoes and cilantro in a tequila sauce) and also the Camarones a la Diabla (shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce with chipotle chilies, adobo mushroom and onions). The shrimp in both dishes was cooked literally perfectly. Everything was literally perfect and the portions were generous with the shrimp. It also came with yellow rice and refried beans topped with cheese. I normally don't like refried beans but I actually ate them. Both plates were delicious in every regard. I would definitely recommend coming to this place. This comes from a man who's had authentic Mexican food, who visited with his girlfriend from Mexico . In all seriousness, besides the Jamaica (which is where I took one star), everything here was perfect. read more

We were a group of 12 that comes from Socal so we know what Mexican food suppose to taste like. Food was just okay. But very edible. The hand made chips were fresh but hard on teeth. Salsa was okay. I had a chimicanga.... it was okay...again edible.The spanish rice....needed a lot of help. A simple recipe would go far in the spanish rice dept. Just make regular rice and add Pace Picante sause...first saute the rice. Waaalaaa. Spanish rice with all flavor. The drinks however, gets high marks!!!! The bartender knows what to do. We are in the area for a few days doing some vineyard hopping and the guy from Baldwin Vineyards suggested Sabroso's for lunch. Great recommendation! The staff was super friendly and very attentive!! Loved all the decor inside as well! Made you feel like you were in Mexico! We were immediately seated and served fresh chips and fantastic salsa (probably one of the best salsa's I have ever had). I had Shredded Chicken Chimichangas served with Rice, Beans, Salad & Sour Cream. Great choice! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area! read more

At the recommendation of Baldwin Vineyards, we went to try a New Mexican restaurant nearby. Good recommendation! The interior is really cute; not just the same standard cookie cutter colors and decor. Somebody with talent went through this place and I am immensely impressed with the artwork, the colors, and the overall ambiance! In true Mexican fashion, we were started with chips and salsa. The chips could have been a little warmer, but they were good, as was the salsa. As we were on a wine tasting mission today, I opted out of trying their margaritas... but certainly wish that I could have! For my entrée I ordered the chili relleno. Instead of one huge pepper it came with two smaller sized peppers. You can choose your choice of meat and it comes absolutely stuffed with meat and sauce. Perhaps a little too stuffed causing the pepper to be drowned out a bit, but still very good nonetheless. Their style of Mexican rice is my personal favorite; darker red sauce with the peas cooked in it. They gave you enough rice and beans that you could enjoy them, but not so much you were stuffed sick from them. Overall, this was a very good stop and I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone for the ambiance as well as the delicious food and friendly staff! Came here for lunch with my family. Ordered nachos with ground beef. Ground beef wasn't the greatest. Beans were very good! Also ordered a ceviche. Came with a very small amount of shrimp that were already on the smaller side. But had great flavor! Also got some tacos Al pastor. Little dry but great flavor. I would leave a 3.5 if I could. Stopped in during a business trip for the after lunch/before dinner lull and was quickly seated. My whole experience here lasted maybe a half hour, I ordered tacos carnitas and steak. Quality wise it was good. Corn tortillas, traditional presentation. I found the interior to be very comfortable and the chairs are a nice touch. My complaint, and the reason why I am writing this review, is after reviewing my receipt I see a credit card payment surcharge which I find has tainted my experience. We ordered off their lunch menu that's posted on YELP, $12.95steak another $23.95 lunch and a few other things. When I show up to pay they are charging me $21.95 and $25.00. Let me detail my exchange with the lady at the stand charging me. Me- " I ordered off the lunch menu these were the prices" (show her the picture of the menu online" Her- "well our portions are dinner portions so we changed the pricing, we usually let the customers know..." Me- "I wasn't told that and it's a pretty big jump, is this your to-go menu?" (I grab the menu sitting on her stand) ..."It has the same prices as online, why am I being charged $11 more? The one steak should only be $12" Her-" we changed our pricing" Me- "You think that's okay to do? I ordered off the lunch menu for a reason...that's a significant price change" Her- "usually we tell people, those are the prices" ....this continued back and forth for about 5 min, not going anywhere and her not even offering to get a manager (I could tell she was high enough up there and that's why she wasn't bending or passing me to anyone else. As I drive home with my food I'm still not okay with it and I call back, pissed. To sum it up she tells me "she is part owner! she didn't notice that there was a price difference on the $12 steak, that was her mistake and NOW she will refund" not particularly nice either, she was def acting annoyed like I was the jerk in this situation. - Um no- I should have walked out and left them with all that food they just prepped and not paid them a dime, so YOU'RE WELCOME! I paid for your terrible service...over the full price! In the end I did get my $13 charged back by the very rude Co-owner. But I'm sorry her attitude at pick up and me having to call HER back to tell her again what I already pointed out...this is a small friendly town, I just don't feel like you should jack up the prices on your customers when they come to pick up their meals!!! And UM change your menu you are literally handing out if it's incorrect???? picked up a few grub hub here and wanted to eat in and try it myself. so, it was a slow day there, so I got a seat immediately. staff was pretty friendly and very attentive, offering refills and if wanted anything else to eat and clearing my plate. So first their chips and salsa, chips were warm, and salsa was on waterier/soup side then chunky, which oddly enough works out since I was able to get all the chips dipped better over a chunky style, plus not overpowered with too many onions like other places do. My entree the marisoco amoroso, first let me say, I enjoy the fact they plated the dish to look like a sun/flower design, it was neat. Shrimp and the mussels were cooked perfectly not overcooked and shrunken for the mussels and not rubbery for the shrimp, all very tender. wish they went with a few sea scallops overusing so many small bay scallops, the robust scampi sauce was great, i keep dipping the seafood in it and pushing the rice into it for more flavor. rice was very good, flavorful and soft, but I really wish they give a much larger portion for the rice, I mean super generous with expensive seafood, but cheap with rice, kind of weird. Salad was alright, a lot more thought into than other place, much more green variety, plus they give a cup for garlic parm dressing for it, very nice touch. so, I ordered the churros for dessert, very fresh and i love that out of the fry crunch so much. They really dust them heavy in cinnamon sugar a plus they are making sure it the best. whipped cream and ice cream were such great dipping sauces, since the churros melted them. hah. Tourist trap. Drinking spot, "cinco de mayo" style, severely overpriced, sloppy food. Nachos served "deconstructed": a layer of refried beans, a layer of tortilla chips, a thick layer of melted cheese, then two tiny cups with sour cream and jalapeños on top (??). The tamales: hidden under a thick layer of melted cheese. The enchiladas: somewhere under a thick layer of melted cheese. These guys must go through tons and tons of shredded cheese every day. Some cook having too much fun with the broiler and watching the cheese melt on every dish going out of the kitchen. If you like Mexican food, don't patronize this tourist trap. You might have a hard time making it out of the cheese sludge and outrageous bill. read more
