Stopped into Bone Yard Cantina last night. The place was pretty empty, but the service was friendly and attentive throughout the night. I had the tacos and loaded nachos, and both were really good. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the flavors were solid without being overly heavy. The nachos were piled high with cheese, jalapeños, guacamole, crema, and shredded meat, and the tacos had a nice authentic street taco feel to them. I really enjoyed my experience at Bone Yard last night. I loved the Dia de Los muertos and La Catrina decorations everywhere. I went with a friend who had heard about this place from a colleague. For an app, we ordered the beef empanadas. They came with salsa and guacamole. They were topped with a delicious crema. So delicious! For dinner I ordered the Burrito Grande. And grande it was. I actually had to take some home and finish it for lunch today! It was stuffed with rice and beans and chicken meat. It was topped with cheese and avocados. Yum!! My friend ordered the Tacos Al Pastor. She said they were the best Tacos Al Pastor she's ever eaten. Our waitress was very kind as well. In a strange location and only open at night so this was the first time I was able to go. Our waitress did seem new but was very nice. I got the mad melon margarita which you couldn't taste the watermelon pucker at all but it was still good. I wasn't a big fan of the chips, they didn't taste very fresh (we came on a Monday night). The service was slow but we were hanging out so it wasn't an issue. The food was definitely on the pricier side but it was delicious when it came out. As for decor and ambiance they play pretty heavy into the dia de los muertos which is cool looking. But I really don't care too much about how a restaurant looks as long as that food is the star. One thing I think of when it comes to Mexican food is flavor... and this food was quite lacking in that department. I had a steak fajita which usually has some tender flavorful steak on a sizzling platter with tender onions and peppers aka lot of Flavor but that was not the case here. The steak was tough and very overcooked and completely flavorless. As for the guacamole some of the best places I've been you can taste the freshness and quality in the ingredients and this tasted very premade way in advance/ and refrigerated. On top of all these negatives the start with service wasn't so hot. We got there the restaurants was completely empty they had been open for about 30 minutes at that point. We waited for a hostess to appear after the bartender just kept staring at us as if he wasn't an employee. Then the hostess finally came out and she seemed to not know where to seat us as if the house was packed so after 5 minutes of her figuring out which empty table we could actually sit at we sat down and the night continued to go down hill from there. read more

Can I just rave about the portions of this place for a minute?! I came in expecting a light bite so as always I split my meals with my bf. We got nachos and the birria burrito and had to take the birria burrito home. The nachos were filling just by themselves. The nachos were piled high with perfectly crisp tortilla chips, smothered in gooey, melty cheese, and topped with fresh pico de gallo, creamy guacamole, and a drizzle of crema (Mexican type of sour cream). Every bite was an explosion of flavor. It was a stacked nacho plate! They didn't hold back on portion size--I was impressed by the generous amount of tinga chicken layered on the nachos. The salsa with the chips at the beginning was seasoned perfectly though I wish it was chunkier. It was on the watery side when it came to the consistency. I wanted to get a jarritos or orange soda but their soda machine was down. If you're a fan of nachos, birria, or just amazing food in general, this is the spot for you. I am going to give this a zero. Not wheelchair accessible is one thing, but could I ever imagine the restaurant was up a flight of 15 or 20 stairs? I pulled over, let my friend out of the car in front of the restaurant pulled up the street to park....ran back to the restaurant to see her standing there on her crutches...I said why didn't you get a table? First time here. Really cool little spot. Staff was excellent- really attentive and friendly. The food was really good for the most part- had the nachos and a chimichanga- no complaints. We had tried it right after they opened, and weren't really keen on it. But last night, we went back for the first time since, simply because we were hungry and they were the only thing open. They seated us even though the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes, so we ordered quickly. This time the food was both quick and really good. But what really made our experience exceptional was the service. Not only did they let us order that late, but I'd tripped up the street from there and had done a pretty good job bashing my knee. When I asked, our amazing server, Kyle, and his terrific manager, Kim, quickly found a bag and ice to create an ice pack for me, for an injury that wasn't actually their responsibility. Kyle got us our food and drinks quickly, was attentive, and kept checking to make sure I was okay. Plus, he and Kim both had great personalities and had us laughing the whole time. Been here quite a few times now, always wanting it to be better than it was. Don't get me wrong, it's good. Good food and drinks, not great. The best thing about it is the decor - the Dia de Los Muertos theme and murals are fantastic. A couple of easy fixes for the slightly negative aspects: - Give a pep talk to the bartenders who are consistently surly, male and female alike. - Take down the huge sign outside the entrance that promotes $2.85 happy hour tacos that "oh, we don't do that anymore." - Maybe the GM shouldn't be conducting business in what looked like track suit pajamas and doing work next to us at the bar. - Check your chorizo. Something was really wrong with it. We want you to succeed and be a great Mexican restaurant, not just a good one. So we'll be back. read more

We went to Maskers Orchard to pick some apples and stopped by Bone Yard Cantina for a bite to eat. As we're not from around this area, and are unfamiliar with good food places, we relied on Yelp to help us find a good spot. The neighborhood is quaint with other restaurants nearby. This place is a little easy to miss if you're not looking for it. We were seated right away on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty quiet in there when we arrived. Our server was really (I wish I got her name) and was friendly to my two young kids. We received complementary chips and dip. They were good and better than some at other places we've had. The kids ate chicken tacos and a chicken quesadilla. Both orders came with a side of fries. The kids seems to enjoy their meals. For the adults meals, we shared 2 items from the tapas menu. We ate the Carne Asada and the Camarones Al Ajillo. We also added a side of rice and beans each. The food was really good. The only issue I had was how liquidy the rice and beans were. It was like soup and very little beans. The kids drank apple juice and lemonade and for the adults we had prickly pear margaritas on the rocks (YUM!!). They know how to take a reservation, but they don't know how to KEEP a reservation. We had reservations for 645 and got there five minutes early but did not get seated until almost 730 and for a party of seven we were squished into a table of five. Many of the cocktails are priced at $18. We had to ask for water and silverware twice. The steak salad had ground beef in it not slices of steak. So it's hard to enjoy your food when you start out like this. Food was meh. I'm not going back. read more

We went there for our Anniversary and I'm soo glad we did!! Everything from the atmosphere, to the staff, to the food was exceptional! The manager checked in on the patrons and made sure everything was good. Everything was fresh and plentiful. I've lived in Vernon for about 28 years and have tried different Mexican places and the last time I had Mexican that came close was in Sussex, Taco of the town but that has been closed for a long time. The maduros were the best I've had in the area!!! My only complaint was that they were sold out of the tamales. I can't wait to go back and bring friends!! And try the tamales. Came across this small, well decorated Mexican restaurant in Warwick, NY. It is located upstairs on the second floor of a storefront, in case you miss it. Our server was friendly and gave us food recommendations. While we didn't order any of the many tapas items on the menu, we did indulge in multiple rounds of their margaritas (with delicious complimentary chips and salsa). They have all flavors and even offer flights with smaller portions to try. I would absolutely recommend coming here for drinks and I can't wait to sample their food. read more

We made a reservation a week in advance for dinner with friends at Boneyard Cantina in Warwick. Toward the end of the dinner, we were asked to leave because some AM radio station (WTBQ) needed our table for karaoke night. They didn't attempt to move us to another table or make the AM radio station consolidate their seating. Instead we were asked to leave. ----- A reply to the manger's reply below. One. Why would you expect me do demand the manager and demand to stay after being asked to leave the restaurant. You should have never asked us to leave in the first place. 2nd the tables around us were there longer. They were not asked to leave. Nice attempt at blaming us for your team's mistake for your mistake. 3rd the owner just threatened a customer in this Yelp review. He eludes to the radio station taking revenge on a customer on-air for taking our table. Is this really a place someone wants to have dinner at? Totally unprofessional! Visited with friends this week for the first time. It's really cute and the ambiance is great. I love sugar skulls so it was just fab. For the most part the service was excellent. Certain basics missing - not providing a straw with a drink and having to ask for one. Food was tasty. We had the dip trio and I had the al pastor tacos. The rest of the party had tacos and enchiladas. The enchilada portion was pretty skimpy - she said next time she'll order 2. Overall, a severe disappointment. We had a party of 16, reservations made months in advance and we had one waitress. One. Food was average at best and all our food came out at random timed and many people waited a really long time. The owner came by at one point and was sweeping the floor weirdly as we were eating. My friend and I decided to try this place out on their grand opening night last night. The place was packed and we waited about 45 minutes for a table, but we didn't mind. We knew it was likely to be busy. While we waited, we tried their sangria. Freshly made with delicious fruit, it hit the spot after a long day. The best part was that they had a live mariachi band that was so wonderful. The time we waited flew by and we were seated for dinner. We ordered a chicken quesadilla, beef empanadas and margheritas. Our server Tori was attentive and wonderful and kept checking back in on us. We saved room for dessert and I had the churros while my friends had fresas con crema. We were stuffed, but happy! Stopped in for lunch with my wife on our way to Bethel Woods last weekend and we can't stop talking bout how good the food and drinks were. I had the Mahi Mahi tacos and wy wife had the beef burrito...both were amazing. We had the beef empanadas and queso to start...awesome! What an awesome experience. We drove an hour and fifteen minutes to celebrate a friend's birthday here, and it was certainly well worth it! The restaurant is located in a quaint downtown central shopping avenue in Warwick. Lots of great shops around. The ambiance of the restaurant is excellent, with paintings of sugar skulls abound. We arrived early, so we sat at the bar and had some drinks. The bartender was absolutely lovely, provided attentive service, and chatted with us for a while. The smoked old fashioned cocktail was stellar. Dinner was much of the same. Service was prompt, friendly, and accurate. The surf and turf was excellent, with the meat cooked perfectly. After eating at Boneyard Cantina a few times, we were most upset about our most recent visit. My family was placed at a high top table. As my 9 year old attempted to sit in the very tall chair, he fell over and hit his head on the other table. It was an accident but he crying instantly and got very hurt. Despite everyone in the restaurant hearing and seeing his loud fall, no one asked him if he was alright. I had to ask to get ice for his head. (He did end up having a mild concussion since I took him to the doctor after) It was a very upsetting feeling. Then our water was never refilled and my salmon (which was burnt) came ten minutes after everyone else's and they didn't let me know. I did email them to let them know and never got a response.
