Went to see Dyker Heights Christmas lights and stumbled on this little pupuseria. They were charging $1 to use the restroom. My family and I ordered pork and cheese pupusas, bean and cheese pupusas, and spinach and cheese pupusas. They were very cheesy and delicious. The only negative is that for the size I think the price is a little high. Regardless, we were able to get the pupusas quickly despite the long line. They also had churros outside but I did not try them. If you're in the area and seeing the Christmas lights, I would definitely stop by and get a warm snack. read more

I used to order from this spot years ago. The chicken sandwich with fries was huge. It was a chicken breast fried well done, seasoned on toasted big bun with lettuce and tomato and onion. This time I ordered it reflecting on the past. Yet, I saw some new items on the menu. Chicken patties, tamales. I was excited. When my order arrived the chicken patties were so greasy , the oil was leaking out of the bag. It arrived with a sauce and cabbage/slaw in a mini plastic bag together. The slaw was loose! The chicken burger I remembered was now 4 chicken tenders, sauce lettuce and tomato. But the hidden gem of the meal was the chicken tamale. It reminded me of a homemade tamale. It had chicken bits in it, some mixed vegetables all wrapped up in foil in a banana leaf. Very tasty. I don't know in management or just the overall problems with owning a business in Bklyn. Time has definitely changed. Now my expectations have too. read more

Cheesy goodness! The pupusas here are made to order with whatever filling you want so when you get them they are piping hot and oozing cheese. These are definitely some of the best pupusas I've had in the city. I also got the Salvadoran tamales. These have a mix of meat and veggies as opposed to the Mexican kind which are generally just a meat and sauce. The masa is super soft and the so flavorful. And everything is incredibly affordable. Will be back, next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Believe me when I tell you these are the closest to authentic Salvadorian cuisine you can get in all of the USA. Everything taste so amazing and it's made with love. If you're lucky when you go and get a chance to meet the owner you'll be delighted to know she's the sweetest person you'll ever meet and you'll be able to feel that she takes pride in her restaurant. If you're looking for a delicious pupusa, look no further. The pupusas here hit the spot. And while it may see like a lot of cheese, get the cheese on top 10/10 worth it. Not a fan of the pupusas they are weirdly small, they are flavorless and the cortido is just ok its nothing to write home about. The chicken tamale was good. I wont be returning as I can go to Continental Restaurant in Brooklyn for better tasting pupusas. The customer service was ok but it was just too many hands in the kitchen. They cook right behind the counter and it was about 6 people there and there was alot of talking going on over the food being prepared. read more

I have lived in the area for many years and it took a random friend to get me to go visit. I was along the street when I decided to order something for breakfast (it was was actually lunch time but I was busy that morning. They didn't have a menu listed big and bold on a board but they did have pamphlets which listed the options near the cash register. Because I was in a hurry for a meeting, I decided to get only the pupusas (bacon and cheese & pork and cheese). In addition, I got a red velvet cake for my mom from the fridge. I was torn between that and the flan or the tres leches. The pupusas were made on order as I waited for it near the restaurant. They have colorful outdoor seating plus an ATM inside just in case you want cash. It is good to have cash because although you can pay with card, you could only tip with cash at the time I went. After a quick walk home, the pupusas were still warm and came with a salsa and pickled veggies. I really enjoyed them and you should definitely use the accompaniments. My mom liked the red velvet cake which is good because she is picky about her red velvet cake. Overall, I would come back. Next time I might try a typical Salvadoran breakfast or choose more pupusa options. read more

We went today and enjoy of really delicious pupusas, we order a variety of flavors and mixs, as well as a delicious side of yuca frita and chicharron, you can let your imagination run free and it will probably taste great as well. They have two tables outside for you to be able to eat there in the spot without feeling COVID compromise. The staff is nice and helpful. Definitely this is a recommended place. read more

So, so tasty! I want to go outside and start shouting how good my pupusas were. I want to spam ever email list and social media platform. I want to eat these every week! Beyond yummy! I ordered chicken and bean/cheese pupusas for delivery. They came quick, hot, and with a side of slaw and salsa. Each order comes with 2 pupusas and I had one of each. I ordered food from here for the 1st time today. 1st I ordered 10 pupusas which were good but 1 small baggie if curtido for all that is unacceptable! My 2nd complaint is the chicharrón with yucca was good but I only received a few pieces of the pork and fried yucca. They have to do better with the orders! read more

If you're looking for authentic Salvadoran cuisine, this is the place! Reminiscent of the pupusas I tried many years ago from food trucks at the Red Hook soccer field, the pupusas here are hot, fresh, and fast, and the service is friendly. My faves are the shrimp and the revueltas which are filled with beans and pork. Sounds weird but TRUST ME. The spicy slaw they provide is also to die for - who knew pickled cabbage could taste so good!? Pricing is also decent, you can get two pupusas for $6, which is not bad considering how filling they are, however I do recommend getting two servings to be sure. My husband, who is not as adventurous, highly recommends their burger. :) read more

I visited the spot after reading about it in the New Yorker magazine (September 2020)... it was an amazing place to eat takeout... Pupusas Are the specialty here... They're also shake drinks... Thank you for my first experience tasting food from El Salvador! I fell in love. I had an Uber eats order of 3 tacos & 2 papupsas. First the tacos.. you can't beat this price any where. 3 tacos + a can of soda for $13?? The tortillas we perfect & tasted fresh. I enjoyed my papusa after air frying it to get a fresh crisp with some pickled relish they provide. I guess a Salvadoran version of pikliz? Except not spicy. read more

I was excited when i found out there was going to be a Salvadorian restaurant opening up in the flatbush neighborhood. This is a CASH ONLY establishment... which i wasn't aware of... there's no sign anywhere letting customers know that before ordering. Pupusas are great! Tamales... not so great. Cortido is spot on... soups are OVERPRICED,there prices went up compare to a few weeks of there opening which sucks. It's very small and tight here when it comes to sitting so i usually order to go. Service can be better. closed on mondays. read more

The traditional breakfast is so yummy and filling. The portion size is great and they include many pieces of sweet plantain, which I love! Pupusas speak for themselves. If you've never had one, treat yourself to one and you won't regret it. The business people are friendly and welcoming. I had a shrimp pupusa and a pork & cheese pupusa, and although they were no longer hot after my train ride home, they were still amazing. It was like a party in my mouth with each bite and after I practically inhaled them, I knew that I should've ordered at least one more. I also got a chicken tamale, but while it was nicely seasoned and had a good flavor, I wasn't a fan of the mushiness/greasiness of the tamale. The dough was also very "wet" and the tamale fell apart, leaving a bit of a mess. I do prefer my tamales Mexican-style with the corn husk, but I'm not opposed to giving these Salvi tamales a second try. read more

I have wanted to try this place for a while now. I ordered takeout from here and I was not disappointed. I had the chicken pupusa, the shrimp pupusa, fried sweet plantains, the tres leches and the atole corn drink. Everything tasted great, the pupusas tasted freshly made and were perfectly seasoned. After being in quarantine for so many days I am tired of cooking I have been ordering take out for 3 days now. Pupusas are one of my favorite foods. I was in Brooklyn early for a personal matter and wanted to find a place open early in the morning so I can bring the food home for lunch. At 9 am I called to verify that it was open because due to COVID everyone's hours are different. The kind lady on the phone confirmed they open at 8:30am. So I placed my order through yelp/grubhub and it was prepared in like 15 minutes. It was a huge order. When I got there I picked out some delicious authentic sodas to go with it. The prices were great. I got home we tried everything. The cabbage salad that comes with all Pupusas was amazing. I added a little tapatío to it and it was so tasty. All the pupusas I ordered were delicious. The service was polite and super fast. Food was fresh which is a must when you are eating pupusas. The ingredients are high quality. I can tell because when you mirocrowave a leftover pupusa it's still delicious and the cheese is nice and melted. She had other things in the store that looked delicious and I will def try next time. My 8 yr old eats nothing with spices or spicy but he had no problem eating the plain cheese pupusa. I am definitely going back next weekend! read more

I ordered 6 mixed pupusas (chicharron, queso, frijoles) and 2 were all cheese the rest barely had chicharron and then the horchata tasted like water not horchata , if you know you know. Sad because they are my people but they looked at me in my face and charged me a little over $20 for that order. Was not worth it. With over $20 i could of got two full plates of food from somewhere else. read more

We decided to try Morritos a small nondescript diner-like cafe with about five small square tables lined up against one wall and a long bar with stools opposite.which extended the length of the restaurant; a large El Salvadorian flag hanging in the front window. We sat at the bar and ordered three Papusas and a chicken tamale. Firstly the tamale was delicious, fresh, moist and chicken seasoned well with small olives and mild spices. it was a very pleasant surprise and we were glad we'd decided to try it, probably the best tamale I've had outside of Mexico (not that I've tried many here). We also ordered a Shrimp, Chicken and Spinach Papusa but they didn't have shrimp at the time so we opted for Cheese & Bean instead. The Papusas were made and cooked right in front of us (while sitting at the bar) they were fresh, soft in the center and slightly crispy on the bottom, flavors were simple, light and good. Not a huge amount of ingredients/filling but I imagine that's how they're meant to be and we were more than satisfied with our decision. Melted cheese oozing from the pancake like dough, small side of coleslaw and sauce for topping. Next time we'll ask for green chili sauce on the side too (noticed someone else order them as we were wrapping up). The ladies cooking and serving were efficient, sweet and prompt. It seemed only one woman spoke English and if you're in the mood for something simple and inexpensive give it a go. This place deserves 4 stars for all that it is.

As a…read morenative New Yorker I have gone to restaurants with every type of cuisine possible and I have never been treated in a disrespectful manner simply because I do not speak the native tongue. Not only was I ignored after multiple attempts to try to engage the servers but others who arrived after me were served immediately. This is shameful and unconscionable behavior in this day and age in a city such as ours. Needless to say I will never return to this establishment and I encourage anyone who reads this review to consider not going to this establishment either. Unfortunately Yelp does not give the option of zero stars as this restaurant certainly does not deserve the one star that appears next to this rating.
