I add some mango, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and jalapeño peppers!! It was flavorful. Service was excellent Staff wasn't cheap with the ingredients. Everything was clean, and fully stock. Tried Guac Time in Downtown Brooklyn and had an overall decent experience with a mix of positives and a few drawbacks. I ordered a bowl Burrito Bowl (Grilled chicken, cilantro lime rice, fajita veggies, queso blanco, pico de gallo, corn, lettuce, mango salsa, chipotle sauce and mango verde sauce). The flavors were bold and well-combined, and the mango verde added a nice sweet and tangy contrast to the smoky chipotle. That said, the spice level leaned heavier than expected. It was more of a peppery heat that was a bit too spicy for my personal preference, though still tolerable. I can definitely see how some people might find it overwhelming, especially if you're sensitive to spice. Unfortunately, the main downside was the chicken temperature. While it was seasoned decently, it seemed like it had been sitting out. It was cold to lukewarm at best, which took away from the overall quality and freshness of the dish. On the plus side, service was efficient and my order was ready in a timely manner. The setup is very takeout- and pickup-friendly, which is convenient if you're on the go. Overall, Guac Time has good flavor combinations and convenience, but the overly peppery spice and inconsistent protein temperature hold it back. I had no idea, Guac Time was located within walking distance of Boro (yep we definitely shortened the word "borough") Hall, Downtown Brooklyn. I was running from one meeting to another when I caught eye of this storefront spot. Was in the area for a Yelp Elite week event. I've seen this place on social media before and was intrigued to finally try it. It was really busy in here but they moved really quickly. They have a decent amount of seating if you want to dine in. It was pretty clean, especially the food/serving area. I'm not eating meat for lent so I was pleased to see they had a fish option, as I was gonna go the veggie route. I opted for the crispy fish taco salad bowl with avocado ranch and a side of chipotle sauce; both sauces were bomb. They offer 8 toppings included and .50¢ for each extra but they really didn't seem too strict with the 8 limit. The portion size was big and filling for the price ($13.29), definitely worth it. The flavors and freshness did not disappoint either. I ordered a side of guac as well which was good but they definitely skimp on that (I guess this is universal lol). So the first thing is that the food is just okay. I did not like the rice as it reminded me of the 90 minute microwave rice. Second is the rating. We didn't notice the C rating until leaving. Ordered guac time on Uber Eats while on a staycation in Brooklyn and it was a hit! they have a huge menu of all different types of Mexican options and things you can add on the side. I got the steak quesadilla and the nachos with queso all delicious and spiced really well, but not too spicy as I am very sensitive to spice. I have to admit that my first ever experience with Guac Time (tonight), started off allll wrong. The server behind the counter was having a huffy disagreement with a delivery biker when I walked in and he didn't stop just because I was standing there. The two went back and forth over who knows what, for SEVERAL minutes. Finally, dude behind the counter gave me the raised eyebrow/ chin jut combo to ask me what I wanted. What I wanted was to already have my food bagged and ready to go. I built my own salad. Romaine lettuce, spicy honey chicken, diced tomatoes, corn salsa, guac and a drizzle of mango dressing. I hate to admit it but it was GREAT! My bowl was full of good flavors and textures. Every ingredient tasted fresh and I didn't have to dip into my savings to pay for it. Guac Time is fairly new to my area and I'll give it time to make improvements in their customer service. I'll be back though for sure. My burrito was good and enjoyed eating the guacamole inside. The style of this place is similar to chipotle where you get a bowl or burrito but they do have other things such as tacos, fries, chips and etc. Also the burritos is same size or bigger than chipotle by alittle percentage. The beef was a little too heavy (lol, if that's a way of explaining it) and required more than average amount of chewing. If I were to order again, I would've gotten the shrimp instead. As you can see they don't give a lot of guac either, but it was a lot of food regardless so I didn't mind as much. I also ordered chips and guac on the side and the chips were good. Was looking for a different option for lunch and decided to check out guac time. It's essentially exactly like chipotle but with varying menu options, and it's halal. You can make your own tacos, bowl, or burrito and you can also buy pre fixed bowls and burritos if you want to try what they recommend. The service is fast and straightforward, it was not super busy at the time I went but you get a decent amount of food for what you pay for. A chicken bowl is around $14 and it's heavy on the portions. I got all the traditional mix ins. The flavors are the issue here as the food is lacking a serious amount of flavor. It's satiating and good as it's more volume than it is actual flavorful food, so if you want to eat for that purpose or to grow, then it serves that purpose. I want to enjoy the food! I guess it just doesn't hit the spot as traditional places do. I just felt very heavy and bogged down afterwards. Good recommendation if you are interested in solely eating halal, but many other competitors and fellow Mexican restaurants in the area that do a much better job. read more
