Wow! That would be the one word to describe Santa Fe Bk. We ordered a smothered chicken burro with Christmas sauce. I've had smothered burritos before from various restaurants and the sauce usually is just an afterthought. Sometimes it's messy and detracts from the dish. Not here - the sauce is incredibly good. It changes my thoughts on smothered burritos in general. We also had a chicken taco salad which was deceptively good. If you're on a diet prob not the choice to go with, but the shell was perfectly crisp to compliment the chicken. The only taco salads I've had before usually contain chicken that's been grilled or chilled. The type they had was smothered in a light sauce. The whole thing just made sense while eating it. I love the southwest whenever I get to travel there, and the ambiance gave me all the feels of being back there. I love the southwest style and decor - you'll be at home if you do too. I don't know New Mexican cuisine nearly well enough to be a connoisseur, but I do know that I had a delicious meal here. Hatch chiles all day every day. The three of us came after checking out Twisted Spine. We got the stuffed sopapillas with picadillo (ground beef) "Christmas" style, so a mix of red and green sauces; the Watterburger (green chile cheeseburger); and hatch chile mac and queso, also Christmas style, but with sauces on the side since my friend can't really do spicy. Dishes ranged from $20-24 and these were hefty portions. My favorite was the sopapillas, but everything was so flavorful and comforting. We all especially liked the green sauce with those hatch chiles. My non-alcoholic pear spritz was light, bubbly, and refreshing. They used pear purée and the flavor was fairly light, but stronger near the bottom of my drink. My partner got the Mama G's Sun Tea, which was very cinnamon forward and came with free refills. Have been here twice and the green chile breakfast burrito is an excellent ratio of 50% soft scrambled eggs that have the consistency of those eggs that have a little cornstarch slurry that has still-moist ripples and the other 50% green chile (has quite a bit more heat the further you get down the burrito), cheese, and your choice of sausage, bacon, or potato. My personal preference was the bacon! Real crispy. You'd be surprised at how much the flavor changes between the choice of sausage and bacon. Breakfast time has no dine-in option; it's just a pick up window with already packaged, warm-ish burritos, so don't get intimidated by the line. They do have a gluten-free option without the tortilla and they serve up the fillings of a burrito in a little to-go container they use for things like clam chowder. About $14 for the burrito. I have never left a review for a restaurant but my experience at Santa Fe BK tonight was so disappointing. I came for my Birthday dinner bc I've had the BOMB breakfast burrito. The service was just horrible. Had to ask our waiter twice to put in our food order, and 3 times for the check. I couldn't focus on how good our meal was bc I felt so burdensome. Everything is so good here, I've had the sausage burrito, so good! Lots of meat and really great flavors, also have had the vegetarian burrito which was also excellent - has a lot of egg hash browns and just great green chili flavor. We got the burger and the Christmas sauce chicken enchiladas. The presentation and vibe was hearty and great. The chicken was cooked to perfection. But overall we found both the dishes way too salty naaawwww :( It always makes me sad when restaurants smother the food with one ingredient- in this case the one you never want too much of - goddamn salt.
