I had been looking forward to trying this spot for a while. It was kind of a mixed bag. The restaurants small and cute. The servers were very sweet and we were sat and greeted very quickly. But boy, oh boy, that may have been the longest I've ever waited for food. There were two other tables but apparently many to-go orders. Regardless, our food took an astonishing 45 mins to finally arrive (an order of enchiladas and 4 tacos). The food itself was mostly good. The chicken taco was a bit dry but the others were good and ALL were very nicely flavored. The enchiladas were tasty as well. I think I may try take out from them but, perhaps avoid dining in house for fear of more long waits. read more

So my son is a vegan and turned us on to this restaurant. It has a large vegan menu as well as a regular menu. The food is absolutely delicious. It's a tiny little place in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The waitress was so adorable and never took the smile off her face. She worked fast. Her English was great and she seemed genuinely happy. I took the star off because I don't like spicy food and unfortunately both vegan items I had were spicy. They were delicious but they were spicy. I didn't even have the heart to tell her they were. My friend and I were nearby and searching for Mexican cuisine. Before we sat down, a frequent customer convinced us to stay and eat. I'm so glad we chose this establishment! The sat outdoors because we had a baby boys with us, the weather was perfect for an early dinner. The mango margarita was delicious! The guacamole and chips had great flavor. Shrimp Taco: the best I've ever tasted in my entire life and I cant stop thinking about them. Chicken Taco: soooooo delicious and second best. A friend asked me out to an impromptu dinner and knowing she has twins and a business I redressed in joined her at Haab. My friend has been telling me about their burritos, guacamole, and fresh tortilla chips for ages exclamation poit's! I love Mexican food and I tell you this place is one of the best I've had since my trip to San Antonio a few years ago. Anytime I see enchiladas on a menu I am going to get them. I love them, though the dairy does not love me back. There was a nice drink menu, alcoholic and non alcoholic. My friend got a fancy new hibiscus lemonade and I went with the tamarind Margarita. The food came out quickly, fresh and very hot (enchiladas are served in a special bowl). We enjoyed everything immensely. The staff is down-to-earth and friendly. This place has skyrocketed into first place as my favorite taco spot. It is located on a quieter street in East Williamsburg so it feels less crowded with traffic and people. It is cash only, so make sure you hit the ATM before coming! From what I remember, there isn't really anywhere to sit inside, but there is limited covered seating outdoors if you want to dine-in. The food is pretty affordable but you may want 3-4 tacos if you're really hungry. They have a ton of vegan/vegetarian options which is amazing. Everything was so flavorful and well prepared. Vegan food!! Delicious you can't go wrong with the vegan burrito which it has kale toffu wild rice. (So good ), we also order the chilaquiles verdes con seitan. Haab is a great surprise and one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. We found them online with vegan options so we ordered and really enjoyed the classical Mexican flavors. After a few times we ordered delivery, and when it was safe, we decided to visit them. Not just that the food is always delicious, it is also served nicely in big plates and the service is always great. In the last 6 months I've eaten there approximately 10 times and was never disappointed. The food has classic flavors, not over complicated, and delicious. Definitely recommended!!! This is a restaurant that has to be checked out frequently, I didn't noticed that they have a changing menu. As I walked by last night, I saw the sign on the sidewalk listing some food. I went inside and asked what it was. I chose to try the Mexican Shrimp Primavera, is a pasta with grilled vegetables. This special is only served till Sunday. From experience restaurants with changing menu create delicious meals. The pasta was excellent, right on the spot with a different flavor and lots of extra sauce in it. The sauce was amazing, it had that spicy hot flavor from the Mexican hot green peppers, first time I had pasta with hot green peppers in it, it tasted good ! The only thing that was missing in the dish was a side of roasted bread, they don't even make garlic bread here. I asked for the dish to be served in a to go dish, I thought I wasn't gonna eat it all, surprise to me, the dish was soooooo frEkEn good, that I had to eat it all. Not enough well trained staff makes for slow service. Get a busser. A few months ago we sat looking at a dirty 4 top for our entire meal. Not very Appetizing... Consistently imbalanced. It's a Sunday at brunch and you don't have bloody Mary's? Why? Where's the prep? Furthermore, the order has been wrong on more than one occasion. Write it down. Check on your guests after a min or so of receiving the food. Redeeming quality is a fake kindness. I love Mexican and the food is usually the best around here but I don't think we will come back for a while. Sorry to write these things but a business should know. "We've been doing it that way for 8 years." That's the response I got when I called to explain that one tiny piece of corn cut in two was not a reasonable order size for $6. Also the $18 fajitas come with 3 tortillas. Huh? Came here for lunch with a friend who lives in the neighborhood. I had 3 tacos - steak, al pastor, and carnitas. They were all fine; a little dry. Friend had the Haab burrito, which was massive. She only finished half and had to take the rest to go. Cash only; they have an ATM inside if you need. Good selection of items - and also massive vegetarian and vegan menu. Doesn't apply to me but I imagine that would be important to some people. If I were in the neighborhood I'd probably give it another go to see if I had better luck with something different, and I would also test one of the vegan options too. read more

Two words: Cactus Burrito. I've often seen lines outside of this establishment, so I was definitely eager to get in and try it on a cold, rainy, Monday night where the place was basically empty. Being exhausted from my day of traveling, I was afraid that I'd literally fall asleep on the table if I were to imbibe anything of the alcoholic variety I skipped out on the happy hour that my waitress enthusiastically mentioned as I was seated. Free chips and green salsa, with the typical Brooklyn-style mason jar of water were quickly delivered while my server went through the night's specials. One such special was the Cactus Burrito ($12.95). I've never eaten cactus before, so I was quick to set my menu down and just say "Yes, for that. Bring me the cactus." The burrito was huge, and it probably should be for close to $13, but it had a great flavor to it and was full of beans and rice, white Mexican cheese, avocado, and topped with a spicy white mole sauce. It also came with a small salad on the side with a vinaigrette dressing. This was a great flavor combo since the tart vinegar cut through the spicy flavors of the burrito. There were also three sauces served on the side (red, yellow, and green) that helped to kick up the flavor a notch if you are so inclined. Green was my favorite. All in all, a nice dinner that left me satisfied. The cactus tasted almost like a cooked green pepper? It was cool to try it, and left me feeling like I had more of a dinner experience to try something new. Apparently, they also serve pumpkin flower quesadillas. Not sure what that is, but kudos to the restaurant for intriguing my inner foodie enough to want to come back to try that! Yes, I'm a vegetarian. No, I don't want a salad... again. After reading all of the raving reviews about this restaurant, my fiance and I figured it was time to give it a try seeing as we live only three blocks away. We had the food delivered and it arrived hot, however, the food wasn't at all what we were expecting. We ordered chicken enchiladas, a fajita quesadilla, and a carnitas plate, and everything was super bland. The chicken enchiladas were topped with brown avocado chunks, and the chicken was unseasoned. And to be clear, I don't mean underseasoned, I mean completely unseasoned. It was literally shredded chicken in soggy tortillas. And the rice and beans that came with it were entirely unseasoned as well. The fajita quesadilla and the carnitas plate were both decent but were also underseasoned. Their one shining star was their guacamole which was actually quite good. Mexican food is usually such a flavorful experience, and this meal was just sad and disappointing. I don't know if this was just a fluke, but after such a terrible experience we won't be eating here again. read more
