    Pastor, Suadero, Longaniza, Guava Juice
    Patrick Z.

I tried three of them because I was so excited: the Pastor, Suadero, and Longaniza. All were delish but I think I liked the Longaniza the best. All the toppings are self applied so of course I put all the toppings on. Loved the salsas they had a good heat to them. Plus the guava juice was fire with this. Was craving tortilla chips wish they had some.

As a taco lover and always in Cali, where you can find taco vendors all over the streets...this is by far the closest in flavor to the west coast tacos! This place is small so a line builds up pretty long. My first time here there was a pretty big line but moved pretty fast. You get in line for the workers to take your order then once you receive your tacos you can go in line for the topping bar to put your own veggies and sauces. Seating area is pretty small, there is about 10 seats and then a standing table area from the outside. They serve a variety of meat choices on fresh tortillas, I was planning to only eat 4 but after trying them, I had to go back in line for seconds! This place is definitely at the top of my list for Taco spots on the East Coast! Compared to other spots, it's pretty pricey currently $5.50 per taco! I paid around $100 for 13 tacos and 4 drinks

We tried one of each (except the veggies one) and the Al pastor was the best! It was so juicy and flavorful. Note: The spicy sauce on the side was actually spicy. It was missing pico and guac for me, but I still enjoyed it! I'm usually not a corn tortilla person, but theirs tasted more like real corn. Overall the flavors tasted more authentic than other taco places.

Don't play with the red spicy sauce!! That kicks!! Pierced my tongue and glad I brought my water bottle. All really flavorful. Nice atmosphere. Nice workers. Didn't wait too long. Great to at around the outside table with friends. I loved all the tacos. Green sauce is my fav. My fav was probably the longaniza!

Suadero Taco (~$6) & Tripa Taco (~$6) - before toppings

Ordered: Suadero Taco (~$6): slow-cooked beef confit Tripa Taco (~$6): slow-cooked and blow-torched beef small intestines Aya's take: I found myself back at Taqueria Ramirez and decided to refresh my taste buds' memory on these tacos. Since I don't eat pork, I ordered the same two I got last time which are beef-based - the Suadero & Tripa tacos. FYI, I found out after that everything is actually cooked in lard, so unfortunately I wouldn't consider anything here pork-free. Both were super tender, savory, and cooked well. The self-serve toppings are really what enhance the flavors and make these feel like proper tacos. It's a satisfying bite but definitely not something to go out of your way for if you can't eat pork.

Revisited this spot again and suadero and pastor are def my faves. Tripe is an interesting texture to switch things up, but those two are SO good.

Not sure what all the hype for this place is about. I've tried many tacos from dozens of different Mexican places. This place is average at best for me. Decor. Really none to speak of. Open kitchen. Small tiny place. Mostly high stools for seating around high counter areas. No tables here. Very random, odd and end furniture. Very divey, particularly the enclosed porch area. This area has a couple of high tiny bar tables, no seats. It's a bit weird, if you sit in front of the window, which is open and you end up staring at the person who is using the other side of the counter in front of you. And you both are kinda awkwardly trying not to look at each other. After you get your tacos, there is a self service topping counter, to the side. Cilantro, red and green sauces, lime wedges, etc. Take as much to your liking to dress your tacos. Tried the green sauce which has a quite the sharp spicy kick. On to the food. Taco. I found the meat to be overcooked to the point of being a bit crunchy. Also rather oily. If crunchy meat is your thing, you will love these. Tripe. You get small, thin tripe rings, the size of a quarter. I found them too rubbery/ chewy. Also not marinated enough, because the offal taste is strong. This place seems to be packed with people most of the time. So they are doing something right, it's just not for me. Still on the trail to find the best taco in NYC...

    Al pastor and campechano

I don't know if these are the best tacos I've ever had, but they are certainly in the running. I also don't know if these are traditional CDMX tacos, but if they are, then I'm a CDMX taco kind of guy. All I know is that if I see a huge trompo (or any meat on a spit), I will eat whatever meat they are carving off it. It has never been a bad decision, Ramirez included. This taco shop is just that, a spot to get tacos. There's a little bit of seating, and some stand up counter space, but it's a spare, open-air taco factory. You're not there for the ambience, even though I'd call it a perfect operation. The menu is tight, the crew is efficient, and within minutes they'll hand you small, crisp corn tortillas with generous piles of delicious, delicious meat on top. Grab yours, put a little bit of everything at the salsa bar (chopped onion, cilantro, lime, radish, salsa) on top of each, and rejoice. As I mentioned, the tortillas are small. Three tacos is a solid meal, but I roll with four if I'm hungry, and one or two if I just came from dinner around the corner (I love these tacos so much that they are sometimes dessert). Unsurprisingly, al pastor is my favorite taco here (there, and everywhere). Surprisingly, it's a very, very close call between that and the campechana, which is a mix of the suadero (braised beef) and the longaniza (ground pork sausage). The longaniza flavor is incredible, and it's intensified by the brief blast from a blowtorch that each taco gets. Please note that the green salsa is mild (and bangin'), and the orange is hot (and bangin'). I loaded up on the orange, and I was not the only gringo wiping sweat off my face after inhaling it all. I'll gladly come back anytime I'm within a train stop or two.

Arguably the best tacos I've ever had. Even better than my golden child Los Tacos #1. Will be making a trip to come back here very soon, I'm certain of it. Make sure to use both salsas!!

Yummy, chill taco spot in Greenpoint. It's a casual, modern vibes, hole in the wall type of restaurant. You order at the counter, and have a seat at their bar like seating. When you get your tacos, you can head over to the condiment bar and add the toppings and sauces of your choice, which is nice. I got the al pastor and suadero tacos. The tacos are small but they are packed with a lot of meat, both were juicy with great flavor. My favorite was the suadero. The onions, cilantro, and mild green sauce tied all the flavors together. It was super delish!

These are some really good tacos, but expect to wait in line (though it does move fast). Very no frills spot, and they do a good job of keeping everyone moving and organized. The asada and suadero were my favorites. I do think they tasted a lot like each other though, definitely needed a little sauce for the umph factor.

I've been here a couple times and this taco is consistently good. The staff were super sweet and friendly! I usually get the Pastor & Campechano. Super good! I definitely want to come back on a tuesday to try their birria taco.

Do they have any options that aren't spicy--that don't have chile?

Yes all the meats inherently aren't spicy. They are seasoned but not at all spicy. You can manipulate the heat level by adding salsa. But unless you are extremely sensitive and I mean cartoonishly so , I would be hard pressed to find anyone that… Read more

Do they only have pork meat, no beef or chicken?

They have non pork items as well.

Is Nopales the only vegetarian option?

Technically all the tortillas are cooked in Lard for added flavor so nothing is vegan nor vegetarian.

No snickering. This is largely because of the sweet customer service. A three star review for more…read morelike two star quality. It is not saying much for a city that really lacks in Mexican cuisine. To say I did not give this restaurant a fair shake is like saying I only went to an ice cream shop and only ordered the cone. I went all out there, which is maybe why I received the service I received, or maybe it is because I sat next to what appeared to be my server's children. Whatever the case, I was treated well here. Onto the food. The Sopa Azteca (their tortilla soup) is a nice change from what I had at a previous Mexican restaurant. I would like the portion to be bigger and more meat in it, but I like the Mexican spices and the variety here. It is quite enjoyable. The Queso Fundido should be called a Queso No Divertido. It was awful to eat, with lousy flavor and texture. This is the second time I have struck out with this appetizer. It is safe to say I am done ordering it in this city. Nobody does it right. The Paella is nice, but at its core has the essence of a nice dish. Some parts are full of tremendous flavor, and some parts are dry and bland. I ate this all out of necessity, and also because once I mixed the bland with the good it actually turned into something quite pleasant. The chicken enchiladas I ordered because it would not be fair to come here and pass up something Tex-Mex as an entree. The chicken is inconsistent, well cooked in some spots, dry in others. The salsa verde has a lot of kick here, but the side salad and charro beans nearly ruin the whole thing. At least the Mexican rice is fluffy and has great flavor. Speaking Spanish to the staff helped curry points in the service department. I like family owned businesses. Everybody was busy and on point. So what if the food does not wow, I have given more, for less. Hence why this is a three star review and not a two star review.
