Super Burrito, as you will quickly notice, takes inspiration from the San Francisco Mission District and in particular the burritos of the San Francisco Mission District. You are likely already familiar with the Mission style burrito from Chipotle; Super Burrito is a superior version. On entry the cash register is to your left, this is where you will place your order and pick it up. The restaurant itself is brightly decorated and full of allusions to San Francisco (I particularly love the Dodgers "choking" sign, an old New York rivalry lives on, on the West Coast). There are a few booths, then counter seating by the kitchen and the windows. In the back there is the 320 Bar, where you can order any number of drinks to enjoy alongside your burrito. The menu has a number of options, burritos being the main event. There is the standard selection of proteins (steak, chicken, carnitas, shrimp and a vegetarian option) which can be assembled into burritos, quesadillas, tacos or bowls. Nachos are also an option, though one I've never tried. If a regular burrito is too much, the Mission Slim (no rice) is an option. If it's breakfast time (or maybe closer to brunch), the breakfast burrito is a great choice. And, perhaps most excitingly, the Dankwrap rounds out the menu, offering what I can only describe as the gentrified version of the Taco Bell CrunchWrap. Perhaps the ideal way to enjoy Super Burrito is very simple: a Dankwrap, chips and queso, and your choice of beverage. The queso (described as "liquid dank" on the menu) is the perfect accompaniment to the Dankwrap, with each dunk into the cheese making the Dankwrap only more delicious (dank, even). They have the standard selection of Mexican hot sauces, and lately have been partnering with a roasted habanero sauce called Verdugo (very spicy and very good), all of which only enhance whatever it is you've decided to enjoy. As a point of personal preference I usually come at quieter times (a quiet lunch/brunch on the weekend is glorious when you are... under the weather from the night before), but you certainly wouldn't be the first person to come a bit later in the day. Overall Super Burrito is a delicious option for the Mission style burrito in New York. Given the choice between Chipotle and Super Burrito, you'd be foolish to choose the former. read more

I need to write this review. I love super burrito, I get it at least once a week. It's great. But I'm writing this review for one specific reason. The chips with guacamole. This is the laziest, most bland guacamole I have ever had in my life. It's bad, and they charge $10 for this under seasoned, under spiced "guacamole" it's really just pureed avocado. I ordered through Uber Eats. And somehow it took well, well past the latest delivery time. When my order arrived...it wasn't my order. So I call and say "yall, I don't understand what's happened, but somehow my order was crazy late and you sent me the wrong one." The young woman who answered said "Oh, *I* gave you the wrong order?" I say "well, whomever was in charge of handing the delivery folks the orders did." But these in comparison, are not as good (still quite good though- esp if there's no other local cali burrito spots... this could be my go to here in NY). Came here to try their burrito and that flat quesadilla. Very cool place inside, friendly staff. I was waiting for little bit, but it was a lot of costumers. So sadly only after my order I saw that guac and sour cream are $2 extra (quac it's understandable, but why sour cream?).. I will definitely pay because it's like must have for me. I love the fluorescent retro feel to the restaurant space. It's actually one of the nicer environs for a casual bite on Bedford Avenue. I had the poblano burrito with avocado added - it didn't quite transport me to the colorful corner of 24th and Mission outside the BART station, but it was very good. As a native Californian from the Bay Area, it means a lot for me to say this is hands down the best burrito I've had in all of NYC. FINALLY a decent west coast burrito, and it to top it all off there's a hidden 49ers bar in the back! Super Burrito looks unassuming in the front, with a few booths and window seating and a small but mighty menu with a variety of burritos, quesadillas, and a dank wrap (like a Taco Bell Crunchwrap supreme) that I will be trying next time. I ordered a carne asada burrito supreme style ($12.95 plus $2 for the avocado and sour cream) and they served me a burrito the size of a new born baby. This thing was loaded and absolutely delicious, the right combo of ingredients, nicely spiced, and super tender pork. My gf got a shrimp super burrito and was equally delighted. She doesn't even like burritos but said she's already looking forward to the next one. The highlight was "320 Bar" tucked away in the back--a cozy and quaint bar decked out in a 70s/80s vibe complete with vintage 49ers paraphernalia and offering drink deals during games. Compared to the Mexican food from San Diego, Super Burrito is just okay. I got the California Burrito, and it was below average or about there. The meat was dry, and the only thing I liked were the fries. There wasn't much flavor. The dank wrap surpreme was a lot better, but I think it was just slightly better than Del Taco or Taco Bell. For the price we paid, I don't think the food was worth it. I acknowledge that this is New York and the Mexican food is going to taste different from San Diego or LA. This would have been a no brainer five star if I had chosen to eat there as opposed to getting a take out. The dankwrap was soft by the time we ate it which defeats the purpose and a bit of a letdown. It was still delicious, just not as much as it would have been. To take this a step back, your mission style burrito meal does not have to come from chipotle anymore. This is the chipotle burrito's rebel twin who is bigger, fuller and has an entourage of equally disruptive friends like the dankwrap which is a wrap with a crispy taco shell inside. Some reviewers suggested getting a blend of chicken and shrimp in one, which I did. I don't recommend doing that because the texture of the chicken and shrimp is contrasting and didn't go together as well as it sounds. I also got a kids burrito which is a great option for picky kids. I personally wasn't a fan of the refried beans used in the wrap but my kid loved it so no complaints there. Overall it tasted great and the prices aren't crazy, so I will be back here soonish. Go get them! read more
