I ordered Togo and the chiles rellenos was so good and flavorful. It came with a side of rice and beans and I loved the sauce they used. I also got a side of chips and salsa and that was also delicious. The salsa is different from what they pack for tacos. I also got the Lengua tacos and it wasn't the texture I was used to. It was more braised but the type I was looking for was more cubed with a little chew. Overall, great place and will be ordering again when I'm Craving something warm and comforting. read more

Visited on weekday afternoon. They had plenty of street parking spaces in front of the store. It was convinient to find the parking. They have a small covered patio space near entrance. The waitress was very nice and welcoming. This restaurant offers mexican dishes and beverages and some fresh fruit smoothies. We ordered tamales, enchiladas with rice and beans, tacos, straberry smoothies. Tamales: comes out with steam. Very hot when they come. It was very authentic! Not too greasy like others. It was right amount of grease and portion was pretty generous too. Enchiladas: it tasted like a homemade (meaning doesnt taste like a factory, like taco bell) not overly flavored. I enjoyed the "regular" enchilada. Everywhere else I have visited tasted too strong and fake. Rice and beans: again rice and beans Tacos: i loved their tortillas. Kind of chewy. Not too raw. Meat was just about right. Portion is generous Smoothies: little too sweet. If you dont like sweetness, make sure ask for little unsweetened. Overall, very good local restaurant you could visit! read more

Being Mexican myself, I feel that my opinion carries some weight so here we go... This is the worst Mexican food I have ever had. If zero stars could be given, it would. What I ordered: Enchiladas Rojas with cheese What the table ordered: Al Pastor Burrito Fajitas de Camarones Milanes de Rea To start off, all of our food was served cold except the Fajitas de Camarones. The Fajitas came out on a hot skillet which was fun to see but unfortunately the hot skillet wasn't warm enough to heat up the other dishes at the table. Now let's talk flavor. NONE. None of the food had any flavor. Now one may be asking, "How is it possible to have Mexican food with no flavor?" I HAVE NO IDEA. Not a single spice or even dash of salt was used. Everything tasted old or even possibly pre made hours before. The cheese used in the enchiladas had a rubbery texture and the enchilada sauce was extra sweet. My enchiladas came with a side of black beans and rice which were both just as disappointing. I am truly curious to know where in Mexico this food is from because I am in utter disbelief that someone could make Mexican food taste this awful. The one redeeming factor of this place, was our waitress. She was the only one waiting on the tables so I give her props for handling the dining and preparing take out orders. Why anyone would ever order food from here blows my mind though! I beg of you, DO NOT EAT HERE. Unless you like bland food. If so, ouch. read more

This is the hidden gem and go-to spot in Bushwick for my friends and I to get our SMOOTHIES! This review is honestly only for the smoothies since I haven't been able to try the food here yet, but I really do have a deep appreciation for the fresh and cheap yummy smoothies they make here. I really love the one with espresso and banana and they have plenty of flavors to choose from-- fruity if you're feeling something refreshing and some with protein and extra nutritional boost if you're feeling ~powerful~. The smoothies we've had here have all been better and significantly cheaper than most of the ones I've had to spend $10+ on in Manhattan and other areas of NYC, so this spot is truly my secret weapon when it comes to satiating smoothie craving. Definitely give this place some love if you're ever in the Bushwick area! read more

Fresh and authentic! More than 6 years ago, I had my first and one of the best tortas ever from this under-rated gem. I am typing as I chomp on this messy flavor-bomb, and not wasting one drop. The bread is amazing, everything is well seasoned and melds together in the best way ever. The only other torta to compare to La Mesita's is from a little hole in the wall deli in Coney Island. Don't be surprised if you dream or start craving dishes from La Mesita LOL The juice/smoothie bar is poppin' as well! read more

Really nice staff here although food can be slow (they seem to do a bustling delivery service.) I really liked the salsa they brought out although it was sweeter and a bit different from others that I've had. Chicken enchiladas with salsa verde? Delicious. So good that when I brought the leftovers to work for lunch the next day, my colleague asked me to order her an order of them next time I went even though we work in Manhattan. Ha. Filled with chicken and smothered with salsa verde, crema, cheese and avocado slices. Too bad their rice and beans were rather unseasoned. The tinga burrito is really good as well. I've also tried the fajitas which I thought were alright but nothing special. I'd definitely go back for the enchiladas though! read more

Felt compelled to write a review after just eating it for like the 15th time. This place is REALLY solid. Consistently good every time I've ordered. Usually get a bistec (carne asada) burrito or camaron (shrimp) burrito, and they are delicious. Such good flavor. Also, comes with guac and pico that is always really fresh and portions are generally big. Had to give them props because of how consistent it's been every time. Respect. Best Mexican food I've had in NYC! It's actually on par with California Mexican and right around the corner from where I live! It's my roomie's favorite Mexican joint in the neighborhood too, so 2 thumbs up from Cali Mexican grub snobs. You can ask for black beans in the veggie burrito, and it also has sauteed veggies inside with rice. It comes with a generous scoop of guacamole and pico de gallo -- both with lots and lots of raw onion!! Just the way real Mexican condiments should be!! Their tortilla chips are also super crunchy, just the right thickness and don't taste disgustingly greasy. This place is a family owned restaurant with a pretty spacious dining room. They're friendly and quick with service. I ordered online on Yelp24 and my order was ready for pick-up in about 15 minutes even though I received a text notification that it would take over an hour. Not really sure what was going on there. read more

This neighborhood gem offers an industrialized minimalist form of decor with pops of color and art. Cozy but roomy, the bar area had mostly 2 seater tables and a few with high chairs. We recently went for a birthday brunch. Restaurant Week was still in effect but we decided to choose from the regular brunch menu. Place was low key and giving neighborhood vibes. The service was 10 STARS! Our waitress was extremely attentive and kind. We were also checked on by a second staff member who I think may have been a manager but cannot be certain. We started with cocktails and they serve chips and salsa gratis. I had the Jalapeno and Hibiscus Margarita and my friend ordered the Pepper Margarita with Strawberry and Chipotle. Mine was a bit on the sweet side without a hint of tequila. My friend's drink definitely was the better of the two. Not overly sweet and definitely a flavor of tequila was present. We also ordered a guacamole. I must say it was quite small and barely served 2 people. I suggest if more than 2 guests are part of the experience, order more than one. For my entree, I requested a market salad and 2 veggie tacos with a side of birria consume. Salad was very fresh and I am sure was made to order as opposed to premade a week prior and waiting in a fridge to be served. My tacos were average but satisfying. The consume was a bit disappointing as it was more of a water/broth based and not of a typical gravy consistency. It was not exciting. My friend's entree was the highlight of the experience. She had the brisket quesadilla. Never have I seen a quesadilla with a crispy outside such as this. A culinary masterpiece indeed. She consumed it all and not one complaint afterward. Delish. We did receive a complimentary Churro plate for the birthday celebration. They were drizzled with caramel and berries. Served warm, they were a dream for the palate. I did use the bathroom which was a single stall. It was clean enough but not well lit. The biggest downfall of my experience was the temperature of the restaurant. I understand it is summer, however, there was no A/C and the inside was extremely hot. I sweated through my entire experience. Even the bathroom felt like 100 degrees. We did not complain but our waitress noticed and brough a fan out to circulate the air. They do have ceiling fans but honestly I did not feel them. The management/owner should consider more temperature control methods during the hotter months as it was quite uncomfortable. To sum it up, I thought this experience was mostly positive and would patronize it again.

We caught them during Happy Hour and their $10 classic margaritas (A-Wevos on the drink menu) were absolutely delicious (and not light on the tequila! ;-) We ordered Tacos Mixtos, choosing Birria, Chicken and Shrimp. Fresh ingredients all around, great sauces on them. The shrimp popped with flavor in your mouth, the chicken was super tender and flavorful, and the beef birria was ok, a little too chewy. The Churros Rellenos were a very hot, crispy and fun way to end the meal. Our server Jim was very friendly and helpful as well. There was so much more on the menu we want to explore, so we can't wait to go back!

The eggs are cooked perfectly, soft and fluffy, and the tater tots add a nice crunch, although I would not mind if they were even a little crunchier. They're already better than most places I've been. The sausage was nice and flavorful, although I do wish there was a little more, as I felt like it got a little lost in the rest of the burrito. Overall, this is a very cohesive burrito with all the components working very well together. I like their take-out system. It's very fast and efficient, and I was greeted by the owner, who is very friendly and full of personality. I highly recommend this place!

No flour tortillas available btw for those that prefer flour. I think I've tried almost every taco at this place. My all time fav is the three little piggies since it combines pork carnitas, and chorizo topped with chicharron. The flavors and the texture are top notch. You really can't go wrong with any of the tacos on their menu. It's just really well made. Ambience - this spot opened up in a kitchen of a bar. The last pop-up here was filipino cuisine but sadly didn't last long. The bar is def lgbtq vibes with banners showing love. Bartenders are always nice and they make my spicy margaritas perfectly almost every single time. (I like it spicier than most) kitchen is to the right of the bar by the arcade games. Service - so this is where I deducted a star. Almost every single time I've gone, I didn't feel that restaurant service hospitality. I almost felt like I wasn't welcome. You order from a small window and you're never greeted with a smile. A lady one time looked irritated that I said the 3 tacos I wanted without pausing because she couldn't remember all 3 as she types the order in. (Use your words! Just tell me to go slowly if you need me to please) This sector needs improvement. Sorry I'm big on customer service. I hope you guys read this and take it as constructive criticism. Despite this negative review on service, I still love their tacos and always bring a crowd here. 9/10 I do recommend!
