It is so hard to find good Mexican food in New York City. I am crying. Bland, boring, and slow. That is what I thought of this restaurant. Nothing really good, but nothing too terrible, save for the salsa which is absolutely terrible. The burrito is barely edible. It tasted like they took it out of a box and heated it up in the oven. The Mexican rice and refried beans are not bad, but when you have burrito in your name, it must be good. Sadly, it is not. The tortilla soup is not much better either. Barely any cheese, and too many tortilla strips. Add in some chicken and I will be happy. This let me down. If someone can get me some tissues, that would be great. read more

Amazing little spot. You get what you pay for so cannot complain about anything. Food is seasoned and cooked well. The salsa and chips they presented us with were FRESH. The host was lovey. Margarita and Michelada were great and affordable prices at less than 7$. This is like difficult to find anywhere. The margarita did taste like bottled lemon juice or lemonade, but like I said, you get what you pay for and everything was top notch at that. As for the atmosphere, they play Mexican music in the background at an appropriate frequency. The decor is vibrant and heart warming. And they also have out door heaters :) read more

Don burrito is a staple in the neighborhood. I'm so happy it's there. Everyone is very attentive when taking your order. I've never had any issues ordering with them. The guac is always made fresh. The shrimp fajitas are my faves. All of the fajitas come out on a sizzling cast iron plate. Their sangria is amazing and always has fresh grapes and apples in it. I very very very rarely give bad reviews, so you know you did something wrong when I give one star This review is for delivery. We decided to order in on Friday night, because I mean, who wants to spend Friday night cooking and doing dishes. We ordered quesadillas and two horchatas. The food itself was fine, but while unpacking it we saw that the horchatas were missing. So we decided to call the place to report it. And that's when the adventures started. We called to tell them about the missing horchatas, and they immediately hung up on us. We called back, and this time a very rude lady answered. She complained about being very busy, and then got impatient and started yelling at us. Eventually said she will send the delivery guy back to refund us the money for the horchatas. After that she yelled "bye" in a very rude manner and hung up again. The delivery person came back ten minutes later. He tried to give us the money we gave to him as a tip, and apologized to us about keeping the tip...wtf. We don't want his tip money back, we just want the store to refund the fucking horchata. We called the store again. After five minutes on the phone with the wicked witch herself, the delivery guy just pulled out some money from his wallet and gave it to us. The guy seemed apologetic and dismayed, so I don't blame it on him. Rather the store for being incredibly rude and unprofessional. Food is decent, but the lady who answers the phone is just horrendous. How the hell can you work in customer service with an attitude like that? read more

This place is awful. Awful service, awfully overcooked food, and an awfully forgetful staff. After the server served us our drinks he forgot about us completely for half an hour to forty minutes. We had to go up and remind him of our existence! He forgot my beer and needed to be reminded about the food. He claimed it would be 6 more minutes with a look of surprise on his face. Lo and behold it was within 50 seconds that he brought it out. When the food came it was overcooked, under seasoned, and dry as the Sahara desert. I will not be coming back. I've been going to this restaurant since 2013 when we moved to the neighborhood. I love them!!! All the food on their menu is healthy and authentic Mexican. Prices are reasonable. Sometimes we order home delivery but honestly I love just going there to have my favorite quesadillas, chicken soup and sangria. It always feels like home. It's been less than week, and I have no recollection of what we ate. No complaints about service. If we lived around the neighborhood, we would probably drop in once a while for a bite to eat. I live in the area and order from Don Burrito a few times a month, it's a good solid delivery standby when my husband and I are craving Mexican. We don't eat at the restaurant much, but when we do we find it very kid-friendly. I like their guacamole, and they do a good chicken burrito, the steak and onion one is good too. Last time I ate there I asked the waiter what his favorite dish was and he said the spinach enchiladas. I ordered them and OMG they are incredible! They are in a green sauce and simply to DIE for. Order them, you won't be disappointed. The only item I don't like is their rice. UPDATED: I have since discovered the Hacienda Quesadilla. My favorite thing on the menu. And their house salad. A friend took me here for a quick bite. It is truly a gem hidden between MTA's construction high fences. I didn't even know it exist until he pointed the restaurant out. The decor e.g. mini-Aztec fountain on counter (remember drainage system from Machu Picchu?) was nice, the staff was friendly and the music was not too loud. We ordered Burrito Poblano and Burrito Norteno for take out. Both dishes come with Mexican rice and Refried beans. The rice was soft and fluffy, and the refried beans was moist. Now comes the burrito: the mole poblano sauce was slight spicy, with melting cheese on top. The chicken pieces was a little dry, but with the sauce it tasted better. Although I am not a big fan of cheese, so I took the cheese topping out, the chicken and the mole sauce combination was still good. My friend's Burrito Norteno was really tasty. It came with sour cream and guacamole, two of my favorite Spanish cuisine ingredients in one dish, yummy! I am planning to try more on their menu. read more

I've ordered from once, and carried out the other time, and I was not displeased either time. Their nachos are made extremely well and the cheese that covers them is fantastic. Adding a protein to it is also a nice option. The burrito I ordered the first time lasted me two days which was a nice surprise. It was also great that it came with rice and refried beans. I'm excited to try more new things here! Definitely try out their chicken soup, a small order actually has quite a bit if you're ordering in and it's got lots of good stuff in there. I had a craving for Mexican and since I was in the area, I decided to stop in. The restaurant screams Mexican culture with its colors, textures and patterns. I greatly appreciated that aspect of it. After looking over the menu, I decided on chips and guacamole (esp since Yelpers raved over it). The time it took for just one order of chips and guacamole was close to twenty minutes. The restaurant was not busy at all with only a family who already was eating when I walked in as well as a couple who had just received their meals before I ordered. When I went to pay, I was told the minimum for debit/credit card is $10. So I looked over the menu and order the mini steak burrito, which was categorized under the kids menu. The steak mini burrito took another 15 minutes, totally close to 40 minutes. The service is slow. Having waited quite some time, I was anxious to munch on chips and guacamole since that is one of my fav things to eat. Nope, not this. Guacamole is subpar at best. I like my guacamole with a little kick. This one he none of that and was bland. Additionally, because I had to order another item, my chips weren't warm anymore. As for the mini steak burrito. The word slim best describes the burrito. However, it is on the kids menu so I was not expecting a humongous stuffed burrito but I wasn't expecting that size as well. The burrito was accompanied with yellow rice and veggies and refried beans. Overall, I enjoyed it. I'd get a burrito again. I'm not counting this place out. If you are alright with so so service, the Don's burritos are for you. Maybe the best burrito in Brooklyn. I stop here usually on Mondays and Friday for lunch (they sometime open later than usual). I tried all the burritos, all of them were good. I even eat them 3 hours later when I'm in a rush, and they still taste great. But, as good as the burritos, be prepared to wait. I bookmarked this place and rode my bike over, but had a hard time finding it because it doesn't actually face any street, but is along a row of small businesses near the subway entrance. Just an FYI for other visitors. That said, it was pretty good. As a former Southwesterner, this wouldn't rate 4 stars in border states, but they cleared the bar in terms of basics. Decent chips/salsa, a variety of combo plates, good re-fried beans, and my steak burrito was cooked well with decent beef. My only qualm, food wise, was that the burro could have used some sauce - bordering on to dry. Also the waiter was pretty slow and never checked in without being waved at. That said, I don't think it's worth a big trek, but if in the area, it's not a bad fix should you be hankering from some Southwestern-Mex. read more
